    Rather than throw my boots away, I’m about to post them off to RM Williams service for a full remanufacture, so just the upper leather remains. Is so smart because these boots were a special gifts, so I’d rather have them remanufactured then buy a new pair of black boots. The process takes 6 weeks for me, so I’ll buy another pair but brown. The worst your RM Williams will look is when you first buy them, so when my boots come back they’ll looks great with plenty of character and my original leather.

    What started as a boot that was worn within the Aussie Agricultural sector they are now worn under the pant legs of suits. I use to pay $180 for seconds out of the Frost Rd store when the rrp was $350. 25 yrs on, 3 pairs with multiple sole replacements and wearing them daily I can tell you I’m done - they are too expensive at $650 and the cost to resole keeps the investment ongoing.

The rise, however, is closer to the original era and the style----it's just what happens below the knee that strikes me as far less '40s. For comparison have a closer look at The Real McCoy's 1941 (not the Blue Seal Joe McCoy, which is more like these lovely Informale).

    I had a chance to meet Steve in the Melbourne store a few weeks ago and I was impressed by his (and his team's) knowledge and service. I tried the said OCBD and the quality was like nothing I've felt before. Just wanna pop in here to give another pov compared to my current favourite OCBD by Kamakura. In terms of Informale's shirt sizing, the size 38 fits on me similar to the one you're wearing on the chest area. Having said that, I also love the relaxed vibe size 39 is on my body but sadly the sleeve length is slightly too long for my arms. For the price I needed a bit longer to think so I didn't end up buying it but maybe one day :)) In terms of Kamakura shirt, I have their 'American Sea Island Cotton' OCBD in the size 39-83 Tokyo Slim, which fits me similar to Informale's size 38 with maybe a tad bit shorter sleeves. I'd say the fabric feels equally as amazing and substantial on my skin compared to Informale's but the hand feel on the Kamakura's is slightly less dry when new (with wash I expect them to probably feel similar). The collar length is 8.5cm, which is perceivably shorter than Informale's but still retains a great collar roll. In fact, when I tried the Informale's I felt like if I were to buy it, I'd have to rewire my brain to be familiar with such a long collar. For now I'm satisfied with the 8.5cm I have but who knows in the future I might eventually crave a longer collar length. The buttons on Kamakura's are definitely not as glossy and nice compared to the ones on Informale's. Also obviously has no hand stitching details, but that is not the biggest concern in my mind at this point... yet. Is Informale's better quality? Yes. Do I want to eventually get one Informale shirt after having tried it? Absolutely one day. I hope you'll eventually review a Kamakura shirt but if you do, I reckon you should size up by one compared to Informale's OCBD and also get the 'American Sea Island Cotton' version because it will be thicker with a better drape than the regular cloth. However, absolutely don't hope for a shirt that will match up with Informale's insane quality.

I have a few pants from Berg & Berg from their Winter 2023 collection and I was massively impressed by their quality and fit. Given they do 50% after every season, their shirts will be less than half the price of Informale's so I'm considering grabbing one at the end of this season. Also given the massively lower price of Spier and Mackay, how does the quality of their shirts match up to Berg and Berg?

      Thanks again for your comment. I agree with a lot of your points. Mostly to the effect that hand sewing seems like a nice to have not a must have. Except where it comes to the fit and design of the garment, I agree. It's something you and I might share a wink over, but mostly not needed. The Informale shirt is hand cut which means the shape and body is there. So that is a tangible different. But to what price you're willing to pay, is up to you! And I'm sure you will one day as you say. As for berg, from the sounds they are similar to Kamakura. Maybe slightly more ivy? I really rate and enjoy mine. There is a review of it somewhere. But it gets equal love as a daily ocbd. My Informale is still the best at being ironed for a suit, but excluding that. They're both amazing ocbds. And yes I'd pick one up if you can. • @jessupsays
      @jessupsays Месяц назад

      As per my above comment. I wear them regularly with socks. Socks isn't the issue (it persist today). Regardless of thick or thin socks. Clearly my writing on this one wasn't clear enough on that point lol

      @@jessupsays yes i've read your point on you wearing socks of all thickness (in fact i've read almost all the comments on this video because i've purchased this exact pair of shoes and wanted to know what to expect), i'm just specifically referring to your point where you expect that expensive shoes should have the ability to be worn sock-less. for what its worth, i think you got unlucky or perhaps your feet just doesn't suit the shape of the shoe which is a bummer no doubt given its price tag. i've had mine for a few months now and have had no issues although i did wear mine with socks always.

      Yes that's a fair point. Re my desire, though I still do feel that way. Maybe I'm hoping for to much of a shoe that isn't really broken in. Genuinely glad to hear you're having more luck than I did! And others it seems. Thanks for sharing though, it's not a don't buy these it's a "be aware of this" based on my feet, view. Hey Jessup hope all's well mate. I just wanted to give an update on my sneaker journey. Basically due to what I consider really bad quality control, I have now dropped Crown Northampton (CN) and refunded the new pairs of shells, due to them being somehow differently constructed to my first pair in a way that caused me real pain while wearing them. I still have the first pair and they are still comfortable, so I have no idea why the new pairs were so different. Anyway, I have now purchased a pair of GORAL MELLOR II in Mastrotto Adrio Bianco white leather with gum sole and wow... the difference to me is dramatic. The GORAL are far better looking (imo better than common projects) than CN, far more anatomical and far more comfortable than CN, while still being "made in the UK" to a very high standard. Yes the quality of materials is a bit less in some areas than CN (eg: no oak bark counter), but Goral have said they will also do custom orders where you can request shell cordovan and different colour cup soles. I highly recommend giving them a try. :)

    • @jessupsays
      @jessupsays 2 месяца назад

      Hello, thanks for the comment and the update. As sad as it begins, I'm glad that you've got a good outcome for your soles! A real shame about the negative experiences with Crown. It seems there aren't few. I'd 100% be into Goral next, as I agree they seem the true logical successor to the promise offered here. Sadly I don't really want to spend more $$ on more sneakers when the $$$$$$ pair I have aren't serving me well. A shame. I'd get a pair just to review to be like "here look better" - or i hope. lol.

    The fact that you pay this much for blisters and sore feet is kind of crazy, and yet I still want a pair because the quality in materials, contruction, and stitching is probably the best anyone is going to find, anywhere. Any shoe is going to leave blisters if your skin isn’t used to a material rubbing against it constantly all day long. Any shoe. What no one mentions is that the sock-less look is usually still accompanied by socks though. They’re just no-show socks. Not comfortable, but they will reduce blisters and wear and tear from the sweat of your feet breaking down materials.

    • @jessupsays
      @jessupsays 4 месяца назад

      Firstly, I didn't intend to get blisters. I have quite a few shoes that are of comparable quality and "price", but they dont cause the same issues. It's how they made them, not just my pathetic baby soft skin. And yes, clearly I wasn't clear enough in this video that I've worn these with thick socks, thin socks, no socks and no-show socks. As you say, finding a quality No-show sock that's comfortable and stays on properly, is a challenge. To say I'm disappointed, would be an understatement. A $200 shoe or a $2000 shoe. Its no good to me sitting in my closet.

I think maybe the toe is a bit more narrow and it looks more stylish to me. I also have a pair made from Horween Essex that I bought in 2015. They are holding up great and well worth the full price I paid back then. The Essex ones seem to be discontinued now, unfortunately. And I actually have a pair of Sperry Gold Cups too and they’re definitely nice but not nearly as nice as the Rancourts. The leather is much better on Rancourt.
