  • Hello friends, in this tutorial I show you how I iron, or press, my trousers in an easy way with my home iron and ironing board. No extra tools, no fancy tricks, just a simple, straight forward tutorial on how to get that nice, crisp crease down your trousers and get the other wrinkles out.
    I go over pressing a pair of wool trousers first and give you some helpful tips so you don't damage your trousers. In the second half, I go over how to iron your cotton chinos and even denim jeans.
    Pleated trousers are a classical choice but they are also making a 'comeback' in the fashion world. But when you have a pleat, it makes ironing slightly more complicated, but as I show you in this tutorial, it doesn't have to be tricky or complicated.
    Ironing also starts with good clothing maintenance. So I'll share how I care for the trousers to make the job of ironing easier.
    I hope you find this tutorial useful and as you will find, the more you iron, the better you get at it! I even find ironing a bit meditative...enjoy!

    I can not recall anyone showing how to adjust (flex or bend) the trouser leg to get the crease straight the way you showed us. For years I have been pulling on the trousers to get the leg to lie flat and straight, for me to only put a different crease in the leg. This really works! Thanks again.

      I'm really glad you found this useful! Ironing can be tricky at first, but doesn't have to be if you know this stuff.

      That's great to know. I know sometimes I talk a bit slow compared to some of the other youtubers out there.

      Thanks, I'm glad to hear that. I was a bit worried I was over-complicating things, especially after editing and saw how long the video was!

    Thanks for the video tutorial on pressing trousers. I first started ironing shirts and then moved on to trousers. Thanks for sharing the method you use to hang jeans to dry after washing. Would I use the same method to press the smaller pleat on double pleated trousers? Thanks again.

      Glad it was helpful! Great question, the smaller of the double pleats you would press using the same method but you don't need to go too far down. If you review the part of the video towards the end of the Chino pressing, I talked about how I'd press down the pleat but no more than 3-4 fingers width down the pleat, just apply that same method.

    Great video, thank you for the help! Could you make more videos like this in the future? Maybe, ironing shirts, taking care of your clothing, or any valuable information we should know.

    Have you considered creating a video on Using a Streamer on Your Wool Trousers or Dress Shirts?

      I'll never steam my trousers and I find ironing my shirts (vs. steaming) achieves a better result. Maybe this is something worth discussing in a video.

    How often do you accidentally create a new crease line?

    • @Justin_Kwan
      @Justin_Kwan  Месяц назад

      Every now and again. But I try to check the trousers while I'm ironing to avoid that.

    Excellent guide. What make are those trousers?

      They are a classic bespoke wool trouser and a made to measure cotton chino from Principle M (www.principlem.com)

    How did you fold the upper part of the trousers? I always find it hard getting it right

    • @Justin_Kwan
      @Justin_Kwan  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, that part is a bit tricky, especially with the pleats. You might just have to watch that part of the video a few times and then practice it yourself on a pair of trousers. The more you do it, the easier it is!

    You are making videos that dozens of people have made before. Why.......?

    • @Justin_Kwan
      @Justin_Kwan  Год назад +1

      Hey Walter, because there are connections with my other content, like my video on ‘why you should iron your jeans’ or the one on ‘classic vs. skinny chinos’. Some people even requested this tutorial. My method is also different from other peoples, which I find easier.
      I’m open to requests and suggestions if you have a topic you’d like me to cover.
