    00:00 Corduroy Introduction
Associated with Old Money, the sporting life laid back elegant outfits. Corduroys are an extremely popular casual wear fabric especially associated with trousers. But do you have to pay a king’s ransom to get quality corduroy?
    00:36 What is Corduroy?
The fabric is traditionally made from twisted fabric woven with parallel cords called wales. It has a distinct ribbed appearance and is known for being soft yet durable.

    17:19 Fit & Features
    22:23 Backing
    23:05 Details
In terms of softness, I personally prefer a really soft feel. I would rank them as the Polo is the stiffest, followed by the LL Bean, and then Cordings and Fort Belvedere are at similar levels and are the softest.
When it comes to details, there’s typically a clear difference between cheaper trousers and more high-end trousers.

I know this isn't your target demographic, but you've got a huge following from younger people such as students who don't have a large budget. I think if you could keep a few of the features but use a cheaper fabric to cut the price roughly in half, these could be huge.
The fabric you use on these pants is heavier than my bathroom towels and that's really impressive.

I know you don't want to hear this but the materials matter. There is a cost to the cheaper fabrics. You can make a lot out of plastic polymers but you're going to get something that will not hold up and need to be thrown away. Filling our planet with thrown away plastic clothes is a huge issue. A big part of classic menswear is not about chasing fads but embracing timelessness. Moving away from accumulation and moving toward selection. There are a lot of ways you can get quality stuff on a budget including thifting and ignoring designer names and learning about the construction and quality. Price and quality aren't always the same thing.

@@HeritageAttCo I perfectly understand that plastic clothes are garbage.

$300 is a lot, but Pomella trousers are $400-500 and The armoury corduroys are $550. Its a lot but you wear corduroys only 3-4 months of the year so they will probably last 5-10 years. I just got 3-4 pairs almost new from thrift or outlet for $20-30 from RL and similar and don't mind the lack of details or the fewer color options, but if I was making 6 digit income these would be a pretty good deal.

While ordinarily the channel is very impartial and without hidden agenda, It’s hard not see this video as having an ulterior motive of singing the praises of their own product launch. The video espouses the virtues of corduroy weight, double rub durability rating, and large wale size as being markers for quality. However, it neglects to consider hand feel and drape. Some of us actually prefer a smaller, more subtle wale and lighter wearing fabric that is more supple to the touch and hugs the body better than something very robust and heavy as the Fort Belvedere product is.
Quality != durability or weight alone.

Hi there, Raphael touches on things like the nap and drape at a few points in the video, as well as discussing softness. Absolutely, these pants are very robust when you first get them, but after washing and wearing they'll soften very nicely. Of course, if you prefer a smaller wale then there are many pants out there that I'm sure you'll enjoy - after two years of testing, we found this combination was the best for something that wasn't simply a copy of what others are doing on the market.

In the UK, I guess it's sometimes featured on hunting jackets and peopel who go shooting will use it. I think amongst 'regular' people it's associated with 90s pop culture. It was big in the 90s (because it was bit in the 60s and 70s, which the 90s ultimately stole from). We even had an indie band called corduroy.

One thing I don’t think I have seen from your channel is anything about men’s evening robes, or bath robes

This an interesting video idea, but feels a lot ickier when it’s your own product.

I haven’t tuned in for a while. Why’s the music in the intro gone? Quite sad since it was so iconic.

I know you have previously addressed what I am about to say but it still begs repeating. You should include information for women's clothing as well. If we are talking classic styles, basic pieces, materials, wearability and workmanship then it should be very similar. I dare say most of your work could be done from your research on men's apparel which would only need additional tweaking to include women's clothing.

True, but this is _Gentleman's_ Gazette! lol. Although I have to say, cords look great on women who can carry off the high-waisted look.

I honestly don't know why I'm following this channel. The majority of people in the US are average people who are poor to middle class. Im one of those people and i can't afford the clothes he's talking about.
All the videos I've seen on this channel tells me that all my clothes are trash and i paid good money on my clothes.
This channel is only for the rich people and it took me awhile to realize that
