I'm not a great colorist and I find matching color in post production very tedious. It'll be nice to not worry about color matching between lenses. Some other nuances to add to the MFT conversation: For the GH5s shooters, the sensor is actually larger than MFT. So if you choose to shoot in C4K mode instead of anamorphic, your crop factor is 1.8 and you should get ~32.5mm in your horizontal field of view. You do sacrifice some vertical real estate (i'm not sure what is the final effective field of view will be). To commenters talking about not a special feel about this lens, I found when using a 0.64x focal reducer on my GH5s, my anamorfake'd Helios has practically the same frame width. @@StephanWahlen The Veydra has a 1.33 anamorphic adapter attached. Currently I'm working on M43, but I'm considering switching to another mount in 1-2 years without having to purchase a whole Sirui set again. Surely there must be some customizing options here? This concerns all 3 anamorphic lenses Sirui released so far. Also, not quite sure which lens to start with. The 24mm would make sense for a MFT, being almost a portrait at 48mm, but too bad it has an almost distracting amount of blue flares. I love those every now and then, but if they are constant it moves into Abrams Star Trek territory.

@@AnamorphicOnABudget F*ck. Sirui had a million dollar idea but they flushed it down the toilet
Hey Tito! I have a kind of unrelated question and I'm not sure who to ask. I've been using the Sirui anamorphics on my A7SIII and I was wondering if there's a way to make the camera remember my clear image zoom settings? I'm really excited to use my 24mm but I really hope there's a way to avoid having to zoom every time! I don't want to use APSC mode because I can't shoot in 4k, but I had to do it a few times when I was in a rush.
Hey Ken! That was one of the most annoying things I had to deal with when using the A7s2. Clear Image Zoom is always wiped out when the camera shuts off. Based on your question I believe they didn't change this behavior in the A7s3. The best solution I found was to keep the camera on all the time and power it from external batteries that'll last way longer.
So.. How hard to change the mount of this lens? Is it impossible. I have a sony camera and the bmpcc 4k. It would be nice to be able to switch from MFT to APS-C. Thanks!!
Was going to order this lens but just heard your "it won't work in EF" ... even with an adapter? Couldnt find the video you mentioned too about the topic.
highly recommend S35 cameras to work with these lenses, Sirui defines this series for "M43" cameras, so does Vazen! they made the image circle clearly s35, but tell people to use it as M43, because they want u to use the middle of the glass, so the sharpness could go up~~~i personally feel anamorphic lenses have nothing to do with sharpness except that failed Zeiss master anamorphic lol, the edge of the anamorphic glass is where the charm at: strong distortion, edge blur, coma and some vertical and horizontal bokeh cutoff if the front glass is square, also wider!!!
The footage looks really great. I was using the 35mm on my S5, (the original) and I loved it, but I sold it because I needed some other spherical lenses for a film I'm working on, but once I'm done, I'm gonna buy it again, although I'm wondering if the 24mm would be better to pair with the 50. I'm either gonna get the 35 and the 75 or the 24 and the 50. No matter what, I know they look really beautiful, and I know I'll have great coverage either way. Or........... maybe the full frame lenses??????? Probably gonna save that money and stay with the APS-C lenses to be able to have two instead of just one. APS-C mode on the S5 is so good! Thanks for the great content, as always.
@@AnamorphicOnABudget Since I already used the 35 and know what it looks like on my camera, I'll probably go that way. Thanks! and always looking forward to your videos.
Great man! I orderd this lens today and i cant wait😁 Where can i find a follow Focus Ring for the 24mm Lens? Thx my friend and cinematic Greetings from Germany 😎🙏🏼🎬
If you're still considering the 3d printed rings, I just put the link in the description and it's here too. Just pick the 24mm from the dropdown! anamorphic.e-junkie.com/product/1639633
So after the squeze, shouldnt be the picture, when filmed in 4k be sharper than with normal not squezed 4k 🤔 So the pixels was taken normal and the squeze let them come close = sharper picture... or am i wrong? 😅🎥
Yo Tito! I just ordered this to complete my Sirui Anamorphic Prime set. Something I've been wondering... Is it possible and/or practical to stack these lenses with something like the SLR Magic 1.33x adapter for some extra squeeze? Would that be a 1.66x ratio? I'd love to see you make a video exploring this.
Hey Kristian, I'd avoid that concept. The Anamorphot degrades image quality considerably, which Sirui is working hard to keep up. The resulting squeeze would be 1.77x. I'll add to my list to make an experiment stacking scopes. Mathieu Stern has done something similar before, if you wanna speed up your research.
A 24mm is a 24mm. On MFT crop, it's equivalent to a 48mm on Full Frame, or 36mm on APS-C. But because of the anamorphic compression, that value is divided by 1.33.
@@AnamorphicOnABudget Thanks. That's what I kinda figured. So the 24mm is 50mm full-frame equivalent so it's not that wide. Maybe because I consider 9mm-24mm full-frame FOV wide lenses. Unless I am misunderstanding it all.
I’m really interested in this lens as I have the 35 and 50 already. I use it with a GH5 and I still find the 35 too long in certain situations. I would love to see a field of view comparison of all three lenses on a mtf mount. Also a quick question. One reason why I’m a bit hesitant to pull the trigger on the 24 mm, I’m not sure what camera system I’ll be using say, a year from now. If I decide to switch over to a Sony mirrorless , or a canon mirrorless, will I be able to adapt these lenses to those mounts? I know that these lenses only cover APS-c, but that’s fine. I’m just worried that I won’t be able to effectively adapt these micro 4/3 anamorphic lenses to a possible future Sony, or canon body.
Hey Ben! I can see the struggle about a change in camera systems. Sirui offers their lenses in E-mount too, so worst case it'll come to selling all the Siruis you have and buy them again in another mount. The flange for most mirrorless systems is pretty similar, so making adapters is quite tough.
@@AnamorphicOnABudget Yeah, I watched your other video on adapters, and it explained it pretty well. But, I couldn't pass up on the early bird special, so went ahead and bought it! Hopefully they will be amazing on the upcoming GH6 whenever it gets announced. Thanks for the reply and the awesome content!
Question. If I use a 50mm lens with 0.8x diy single focus unit, and a .71 speedbooster. Is my math work out correctly that it is effectively a 28mm focus length?
When you say "50mm" do you mean Sirui's 50mm, or a spherical 50mm? I ask because Sirui's 50mm won't be compatible with a focal reducer (speedbooster), and neither a sperical 50mm nor Sirui's 50mm won't need a single focus solution.
@@AnamorphicOnABudget hahahahaha. I should have specified that I'm using it with a moller 32x2 scope, as well as an Isco ultra star. And I'll be experimenting this week with a 35mm tt artisan mft and the Moller as well. See how bad the vignetting is. Shooting on a bmpcc 4k
A miracle adapter. Just get the MFT mount for the Z-cam. It's about the same price of an adapter. Here's why it won't work on EF: ruclips.net/video/mPzTzRd4_KQ/видео.html
I'm excited for suri to eventually make full frame lenses. I just don't see the benefits of anamorphic if I'm forced to crop to apsc on my full frame camera.. If I'm forced to crop then at least have the lens be 2x to make up for it. All in all these lenses are very tempting, just not there yet for me.
Hahahaha fair enough. RUclips doesn't support End Screens for videos in other aspect ratios. BUT, I've switched over to widescreen reviews and videos and will continue the trend moving forward. ;)
Besides the flares I can hardly tell it's an anamorphic lens... To me the anamorphic look is mainly oval bokeh and barrel distortion not just blue flares.
1.3 isn't wide enough to be worth it. If they did at least 1.6/1.8, then I would bite lol. Also really wish they would tone down the ultra saturated blue flaring, that wide angle didn't even look usable with those flares.
#AskMeAnamorphic u have a new follower. Awesome videos. I assume we can use the lens for street photography as well. Your opinion please. All i see is videos.
Glad you joined us! You can definitely take photos with it! But anamorphic has been a video thing for the longest time, hence the intense focus on video use. :)
It's a very bad user experience when the content creators don't know how to use fade in/fade out the sound. Starting out a video with BIG BANG MUSIC is very amateur-ish and annoying and kills the vibe for the whole video. You'll never see pro-level RUclipsrs do that, even ones that don't specialize in shooting videos.
@@AnamorphicOnABudget If you are on headphones and you just listened to some music or even if you are on speakers is just annoying and not well thought out! Every RUclipsr has different sound levels but most of the pro's are using universal LUFS standard (a TV sound levels standard) Switching from a random video to your video with so much pumped out music without any warning is indeed a very unpleasant experience :)
@@AnamorphicOnABudget Thank you for the reply. The room you mentioned is a flange back? Sirui 35mm or other anamorphic lens for aps-c are originally M4/3 mount. and another mount adapter ring is applied on the M4/3 mount ring. So I thought 24mm M4/3 mount anamorphic can be used on E mount with the ring adapter.

highly recommend S35 cameras to work with these lenses, Sirui defines this series for "M43" cameras, so does Vazen! they made the image circle clearly s35, but tell people to use it as M43, because they want u to use the middle of the glass, so the sharpness could go up~~~i personally feel anamorphic lenses have nothing to do with sharpness except that failed Zeiss master anamorphic lol, the edge of the anamorphic glass is where the charm at: strong distortion, edge blur, coma and some vertical and horizontal bokeh cutoff if the front glass is square, also wider!!!
I find the 35-75 combo better than the 24-50 option. :)
@@AnamorphicOnABudget Since I already used the 35 and know what it looks like on my camera, I'll probably go that way. Thanks! and always looking forward to your videos.
Great man!
I orderd this lens today and i cant wait😁
Where can i find a follow Focus Ring for the 24mm Lens?
Thx my friend and cinematic Greetings from Germany 😎🙏🏼🎬
You should look into getting a Tilta Seamless follow focus ring! They’re literally 2 bucks on B&H
@@cj64films
Thank u so much! 😁🙏🏼🎬
If you're still considering the 3d printed rings, I just put the link in the description and it's here too. Just pick the 24mm from the dropdown!

@@AnamorphicOnABudget okay thank you so much. Cant wait for your Next Video.

This is awesome! what movie are you guys working on !
I was just doing behind the scenes for the productions in my sister's class. :)
10:10 is that “Anamorphic mump” or something?
Nice and detailed video as always!
Perfect use of the term! Yes, that's what shows mumps!
Great video, thank you!
Is that squeeze change to 1.25 also true for the other two Sirui anamorphic lenses (35 and 50mm), while being at close focus ?
Thank you! Yes, I show it on the 50mm video too, and have tested the 35mm as well, although didn't include it in the review.
@@AnamorphicOnABudget ok thanks, thats good to know!
So after the squeze, shouldnt be the picture, when filmed in 4k be sharper than with normal not squezed 4k 🤔
So the pixels was taken normal and the squeze let them come close = sharper picture... or am i wrong? 😅🎥
Mathieu Stern has done something similar before, if you wanna speed up your research.
is there a way to get the 35mm to work on the Fuji X? Wondering why they did not release a FUji version for that lens.
Excellent question. I don't think so. :(
So is the 24mm m43 equivalent as in 12mm? or is it standard as in 24mm? (25mm m43 equivalent)
@@AnamorphicOnABudget sorry. I should have specified.
Spherical taking lens.
28mm focal length makes sense in this math, although I'm having a hard time figuring why you're adding a Single Focus solution to a spherical lens. :P
@@AnamorphicOnABudget hahahahaha.
I should have specified that I'm using it with a moller 32x2 scope, as well as an Isco ultra star. And I'll be experimenting this week with a 35mm tt artisan mft and the Moller as well. See how bad the vignetting is.
Shooting on a bmpcc 4k
can you tell me what adapter requires to use this lens on my ef mount camera zcam f6. Thank you
A miracle adapter. Just get the MFT mount for the Z-cam. It's about the same price of an adapter.
Here's why it won't work on EF: ruclips.net/video/mPzTzRd4_KQ/видео.html
@@AnamorphicOnABudget thank you
hope they make an RF mount
I second that.
Hey man, great channel btw, which of these lenses would you recommend for a BMPCC 6K?
Thank you! Unfortunately none of the Sirui lenses are compatible with the BMPCC6K.
Even using the EF-mount version? Would an adapter be good enough?
That's EF-M, for mirrorless Canon cameras. There are no such adapters as I explained here: ruclips.net/video/mPzTzRd4_KQ/видео.html
Oh great, thanks! I understand it now
nice review!
I would absolutely love it if they made a 14mm even if they had to hike the prices up a bit as that would make an incredible experience to behold
Wow, 14mm is wild. I don't super see the point of anamorphic when going this wide. Bokeh gets lost and there isn't a lot to begin with. :(
Which Sirui lens do you think is the best out of the 3?
Depends on what your goal is. For me, and a lot of other folks, the 35mm gives you the most flexibility.
@@AnamorphicOnABudget nice, I was stuck between the 24mm and 35mm. Went with the 24mm got it today. Considering the 35mm too. Thanks bro!
it's good but for me its flare proneness is a no
My question is why as an anamorphic reviewer are your videos in 16x9?
Hahahaha fair enough. RUclips doesn't support End Screens for videos in other aspect ratios. BUT, I've switched over to widescreen reviews and videos and will continue the trend moving forward. ;)
12mm is the wide were all looking for if you have 4/3 mounts.
Thankyou! I thought my lens was faulty, 1.25x not 1.33x 😂
Well well! Bug or feature? hahaha :)
Besides the flares I can hardly tell it's an anamorphic lens... To me the anamorphic look is mainly oval bokeh and barrel distortion not just blue flares.
Which anamorfic lenses are than for you?
1:41 Gahh!!! A matte box without a bellows or any filters, shooting indoors.
I live for comments like these! hahahaha! Thank you!
The flares aren't really cool
Generally, the look of it doesn't feel really special :/
Flares look really bad... inorganic and fake looking...
They might look like that because there are a lot of artificial lights on this footage, it should be more subtle with natural lighting.
I dont like the flare too...
Not feeling the blue flare...
Yeah. Too much, and not very "pretty"
hopefully they make an 8mm and 12mm
Do i get away with using a 0.71 Speedbooster with this Lens and a MFT Camera?
No, this lens is already for a short flange distance, you can't fit a speedbooster behind any of them.
1.3 isn't wide enough to be worth it. If they did at least 1.6/1.8, then I would bite lol. Also really wish they would tone down the ultra saturated blue flaring, that wide angle didn't even look usable with those flares.
Flares on 24mm too distracting ruining the shot in my opinion. I'll stick with my 35mm wait for 85mm for the bokeh
Makes sense. It is very flary.
But why do all the videos look out of focus?
uhhh what?
the lens flare looks like blue tape
I won't disagree. hahaha
Creo que no es buena idea grabar un detrás de camara con un lente anamorfico
#AskMeAnamorphic u have a new follower. Awesome videos. I assume we can use the lens for street photography as well. Your opinion please. All i see is videos.
Glad you joined us! You can definitely take photos with it! But anamorphic has been a video thing for the longest time, hence the intense focus on video use. :)
Thank you for the reply ❤️👍. Guess I will have to buy it and try it in the street with my Olympus.
Full frame glass next please. :)
5:27 Matt Workman cameo? lol jk
Hahahah! Maybe Mark will get there one day!
don't fret, no one has been able to pronounce the name for years.
Bro,you need some weight gainer👀💪🏻
100%!
Are you mad because you forgot sound was maxed out, and it woke up your s.o.? :P
In any case, note taken, thank you!
@@AnamorphicOnABudget If you are on headphones and you just listened to some music or even if you are on speakers is just annoying and not well thought out!
Every RUclipsr has different sound levels but most of the pro's are using universal LUFS standard (a TV sound levels standard)
Switching from a random video to your video with so much pumped out music without any warning is indeed a very unpleasant experience :)
You're right. I just got surprised by it twice loading it by accident. Something to avoid repeating on future videos.
Hello! If I have an anamorphic 24mm "mft" mount, which can be on sony body with M4/3 to NEX adapter?
No mirrorless mounts can be adapted to other mirrorless mounts. There just isn't enough room.
@@abcjjjun yeah, flange! I haven't found one of those adapters with good reviews, so I rather just say it's not a good idea.
