I bought the 50mm as the first lens for my gh5. It really depends on what you're doing. Later I bought a 14-140mm lens mainly for photography but the Sirui 50mm is still super OP when shooting video. Loving the 1.8 aperture😍😎
yeah i have the 35mm and i love it!, it sounds weird but i actually bought it for photography, like landscapes and astro photography, and it sounds weird but i shoot it on a gh9 which combined with a speed booster and a canon lens mount take the aperture from 1.8 down to just .8 making it perfect!
Thanks for the video. I picked up the 75mm recently from B&H. It was on sale for $399; I really wanted the 50mm, & will pick that up later, but I could not pass on the sale.
Excellent comparison video! The only two things I think you got wrong were the sharpness and everyday shooting thing. More so the sharpness thing - these lenses (@ least the 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm ones) are some of the sharpest lenses I own, including ALL my spherical lenses. So much so that pro mist filters pretty much stay on the lenses when I shoot with them. In fact, that's kind of one of their main selling points. I can kind of concede your point about everyday usage in terms of anamorphic lenses in general. That look isn't for EVERY shoot, that's understandable. But if you do mainly shoot content that allows for the anamorphic look, these lenses can EASILY be daily drivers. Looking forward to participating in your challenge!
Great video guys, anamorphic is so cool! Wishing they made some with 2x squeeze though! And that they covered full frame! Maybe I should still test one of these out though... 🤔
Great video! Quick tip for shooting on the a7siii, instead of using apsc mode which doesn’t allow you to shoot 4K, use clear image zoom. You will be able to still shoot 4K and have a little better quality image!
First time I watch a video from your channel. I happened to see an advertisement from the Epidemic sound that leads me to view your channel. Just one word amazing. Keep going. all the best.
Just start out with whatever you already have available, even if it's just your phone! Check if you love photography until you know all limits of your current gear. Grow with that and discover what next step you should take. You can also buy a cheap entry level DSLR camera/mirrorless if you'd like something more serious :)
Just getting into anamorphic and I have the 50mm, which I love. Also copped a set of diopters (close-up lenses) to solve the minimum focal distance issue. Still deciding on what my next one will be, but I’ll probably go with the 35mm next, then the 75mm. Great video! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@JayFingers I've been watching you, Jay 🕵️♂️🕵️♂️🕵️♂️. Haha, no. I just really like the price point of these guys and was surprised to see your comment out in the wild
You should have also compared the focus „breathing” while doing a full pull on each of them. Some squish more than others due to their focusing mechanism (the anamorphic back glass moves together with the circular group). That’s a ‚feature’ of most anamorphics but it’s also a buying consideration. Same with the squeeze factor - it actually differs dynamically depending on the current focusing distance.
Guys I had to search for your channel to see this video. I am long time subscriber, I have notifications on and this video wasn't recommended to me. I hope I am the only one with this problem because this is some amazing content
Yeah 50mm is way to go if you can afford only 1 lens. It sits in the middle of all but i would recommend buying all the lenses if you can because each lens have its own characteristics which help in story telling like in the 75mm the background comes forward, The background moves slower etc. its a great video 😗💖
Im using a Sony a6100 and I bought this lens came in yesterday I have a hard time using it and figuring out how to use it, do you maybe know any budget monitors that have d squeeze for Sony a6100? I just need help on how to use it, can you make in debth video on how to use it??
I know the video is old, but I hope you’ll reply. Would you recommend to use the crop lenses over the sirui full lenses for Sony a7iv? The full lenses are 3 times the cost compared to the crop lenses. I’m skit wondering if it’s worth the huge additional cost to get the full frame or if it matters to lose some of the image and save thousands of $ to get the whole set.
I own the entire set and tend to agree … my favorite is the 24mm and 50mm. The 35 is least useful on mft. If i were to pick and have only 2 of them i’d pick 50 + 24 on a x2 crop sensor or 35+75 on a smaller crop/cropped ff.
Just how bad of an idea is it to throw one of these on a A7ii that can only do 1080p video? I read everywhere "shoot in 4K so you can crop to the correct aspect". Is shooting in 1080p a complete waste or is it viable but not optimal?
If all you want are lens flares, then the filters aren't bad alternatives (although they have their own suite of issues). But true anamorphic lenses have many other characteristics that you cannot get with filters.
Anamorphic filters don't give the same look as true anamorphic lenses. Because physics. It's not just lens flare, but bokeh, compression, depth of field variables, etc. You can get close with a filter in terms of lens flares and some oval bokeh, but not exact. You don't get the same effects that anamorphic glass gives. Because, again, PHYSICS... There's DEFINITELY a need for these lenses, not unless you aren't looking for a TRUE anamorphic look.
I think anamorphics lens are overrated and over used. Like a trend going on right now. I think their best uses is on the zoom side of things. Its a 'wider zoom'. The under 50mm kinda defeats the point.
it is a lens that has a square buldged shape compared to round flat lenses like normal that basically stretch the image out on the sides giving you movie aspect ratio
"Never stop adventuring" "Embrace your inner child" "Stay fearless & stay curious" "Stay positive. Stay wild" “I don’t ask you anything, just if you want, give my GoProvids a chance and you’ll see..”
No need to use crop mode on the Sony A7Siii. Just use clear image zoom in the settings and put it to 1.2 and stay with 4k.
Only downside of the zoom is really bad AF but since the lenses have no AF not a problem
I'm a camera lover without money. Anyone else like me?

Any recommend a beginner camera
Sony a6100, I got the doubble kit, 16-50mm + 55-210mm and then got the Sigma 35mm f1.4, its really the best combination!!
Yes I recommend that too. But if you dont plan on going to full frame you can always get the sigma 30mm 1.4 for like $300

Canon T2i
lumix g70 is my absolute favorite i even prefer the look over my a6300
I use the 35mm by far the most, then the 24mm, then the 50mm
Glad to see you back guys! Really interesting and clear review. Can't wait to get my hand on another bunch of amazing car shots :D
Damn. Been watching videos on the 50mm for 2 days now. For the price point, it kind of feels like a no brainer.
Wow... probably the best opening shots to a TMS video ever, right?
id love to see the difference between stills lenses en anamorphic
The intro was fire 🔥!!!
Can u use these with 6k g2 ?
Why are you guys not uploading in 4k? It is kind of hard to see something like the sharpness of the lens with the youtube compression you get at 1080p
You can't shoot in 4k if you're using the APS-C mode on the A7SIII unfortunately
My god you lads have picked your game up since I last saw. Good effort. Very useful video that I've been thinking about for a while, thanks.
Needed a comparison between all of these, thanks!

What about color temperature?
If they are cropped senser mode lens, what do they get on Black Magic CC 6K Pro?
i feel ur channel should have 1m subs its realy amazing to watrch ur videos and they are realy helpfull
how do you desqueeze the image in batch?

Hi i am new in filming so what cine lens do u recommend for every bday usage thx
About to buy a couple. Was thinking 24 and 75. But now thinking 35 and 75 due to 1.8 aperture.
With all the links in the description there is no link for any of the featured items.

Never lol
They don't need to do that trash!!!
@IanHubert really? at what video cs i tink i have seen all of them, im a BIG fan of this guys.
Love these vids 👍
Nice comparison. Cheers!
Would be sick to get some night time shots with those lens
i own the 35 and can confirm it is sick
Waiting for the Editing contest! ❤️
Are the focal lengths in full-frame or APSC values (so when shooting with the 24mm in crop mode, is it a 36mm ff equivalent)?
it depends. the 35mm is made for M4/3 so in aps-c it would be about 26mm while the 50mm, and 24mm is made for aps-c
a 50mm is a 50mm, they dont change for each system. only FOV changes. Apsc equivalent is only FOV equivalent, not focal length equivalent
Guys pleaseee upload in 4K
pleaseeee.
guys who are with me

Imo 35 is the most versatile on APS. 50 is already to tight for general use.
Pro tip for the minimum focal distance just use a mirror in tight spaces.
That’s actually a very good shout plus you can make it look much more interesting on a dolly!!! Just make sure mirror is very clean haha
Hey. Is the 50mm a full frame 100mm equivalent on an MFT camera? Or does the 50mm sirui behave like a 25mm on an MFT?
Just how bad of an idea is it to throw one of these on a A7ii that can only do 1080p video? I read everywhere "shoot in 4K so you can crop to the correct aspect". Is shooting in 1080p a complete waste or is it viable but not optimal?
Is there a EF Mount for these lenses?
There is EOS-M but it's not EF.
I don’t think I have the need for these lenses cuz now they have filters that u can use which will give you a similar look
No

All of them..... anymore questions?
5:21 “ovular”……certainly you meant oval, common mistake, lol, great review
Just pull back wyth the 75mm and and you get the 50mm frame but with creamier bokeh
Wow
