BTW, first time gun buyer here thanks to the violence and pandemic (cmon man it’s 2020), been buying handguns every month and already have a few. Nice review and comparison. You really provided a nice critique of the two manufacturers. I have the GRP. Really like it a lot. I specced my out without front serrations and also had the barrel reverse crown flush fit. Like you mentioned, I concur that Nighthawk really should have reduced the large font size of GRP. It somewhat deters. I've shot many Wilson's. They definitely are nice 1911's. My opinion on them is that they are somewhat overpriced. Haven't purchased one. What I really like about Nighthawk as a company is their one gun, one gunsmith.

Definitely my favorite 1911. You would have to shoot them side by side to understand.

~The Grip to Trigger guard is more under-cut on the Nighthawk, which I think is better.
~I think the flush-cut Slide Stop on the Nighthawk is more for looks. I can take it or leave it.
~I prefer no front cocking serrations since I don't use them for anything. If I would order my Pistol direct from Wilson, I would leave off the front serrations.
~I don't like the Billboard sized lettering on the Nighthawk. I prefer the size on the Wilson.

The billboard on the Nighthawk looks cheap and cheesy. One of the aspects of the Dan Wilson I like do much is the small, understated model name on the slide. I had decided on a Wilson Combat, but they discontinued 38 Super, so Nighthawk it will be. Apparently, the Shadow Hawk models is clean, no billboard, so I will start there.

So simular. Evcen their "tactical names". :) Features and pricing---which as gone up. They're now selling for around $3500 each...starting price. Putting them in the same "entry-elvel cusotm 1911" group as ACW's Quantico/Prime guns. Does it come down to the finishes? If you want a blued finish then....ACW. Internally? The differences I'm guessing are so minute you'd have to be a robot to feel the differences when shooting the 3 guns. The reps of the companies? Their CS record?? I'd assume Wilson's CS might be ethe best? Haven't heard any negtive reports...at leat by YTers...
But what would we be payng for? REALLY. I mean over a Dan Wesson Speciallist at half the most...also "hand-fit", forged slide/frame and internal parts....the differe in "shootability" I'd think would be so incredibly mintue....that we might be paying for the "brand name" of Nighthawk, Wilson, ACW....more than how much teir product is "superior" to a DW.....A little ore exterior metal work e.g. serrations? Nighthawk comes with VZ Grips...which you can buy...that exact same grip minus the Nighthawk logo...
Have to admit...the DW have an "unfinished look" on the slide compared to ...which I've always found odd. They don't even have their "DW" logo on the slide. Just the model of the gun on the left side of the slide....thugh, that does allow us to get someone to etch a custom design on the right side of the slide...if you're into that...
Never understood why some gunsmiths/companies don't put work into deisgning the artowrk on the slides e.g. DW, Chambers (full custom 1811)--his guns are totally BLANK....not sure how A"custom" his guns are or if he just buys the pars and "hand-fits" them...shrug...Cabot makes 100 percent of the gun in-house--so they claim...true?? Dunno...
IMHO we have eto sift through the marketing and know what we truly want in a 1911....are we buying "artwork on the slides"? :)) At the end of the day the gun is just a "tool"....you can be just as accurate a shooter with a 4900 gun as you can with a $70000 gun...it's not magic. :)
Nighthawk--at least they have more guns to chose form in the $304k range.... And they do have 2 COMP guns (Firehawk and Sandhawk...single and dbl stack) ...so there's that...never shot a COMP gun before....is the difference that obvious? Shrug... Does it matter? For a range shooter?? :))

    • @-Cold-World
      @-Cold-World  10 месяцев назад

Please buy a NHC and Wilson, take them to the range, fire hundreds and or thousands of rounds through them. Then we can finish this conversation. There is a significant difference vs your DW

If you’re going to be this picky with a custom 1911 you shouldn’t own one. There is a point of diminishing returns on something like this but let’s be real....if you’re buying this because you want a REAL 1911 and all you do is critique it and not run the damn thing, your just looking to flex on others.
It’s a gun, run it and use it.

First off don't tell me what to do with my personal property. If you don't like the content then go away. Second I'm not critiquing anything, simply pointing out the minor differences between the two, again if you don't like it then go away. No need for your worthless comments. Like I said I'm comparing them both new, I've shot thousands of rounds through all of my weapons. And thanks for reminding me that "it's a gun". I have "run it" sorry I don't have a film crew. Perhaps you should film me next time I go "run it". Also please link your video where you go "run it and use it" as I'm sure you don't have one let alone a gun.

@@-Cold-World Damn you really got butt hurt over my comment lol Also my initial comment was not pointed directly at you but the kind of people who would spend this much money then handle it with white gloves the entire time they own it. Idc if you buy Ed Brow, Les Baer, WC, or even a Cabot 1911...they all do the same shit and thats shoot bullets. And i have persoanlly owned STI, Les Baer, Springfield HRT and even some of the cheaper WWII clones. Not to mention an extensive gun collection consisting of chinese AK's, HK roller lock guns too include a MP5SD build I am having done right now by TPM Outfitters, P7's and three Knights Armament Rifles to name a few. Again i wasnt critiquing you (which i can see how it would have came off that way) but more so those white glove gun owners.

80% of the 1911 guys take Wilson over Nighthawk.

Haha is that right? You've taken a poll from all 1911 owners? And it's exactly 80%? I never knew...

Can’t go wrong with either one, but I would go with Wilson Combat, I put about 2000 rounds on the Protector great 1911 💯🪖🎯💥💥😀
