Volume 1 focuses on essential aspects of Jason's playing style such as his aggressive picking style, his use of alternate and economy picking, his bending style, his chordal vocabulary, etc. These will serve as a basis for the lessons covered in Volume 2 and 3. Volume 1 contains over 110 minutes of instruction.
Guitar: Max Dible
About Jason Becker: Jason Becker is an American rock guitarist and composer. At the age of 16, he became part of the Mike Varney-produced duo Cacophony with his friend Marty Friedman. They released Speed Metal Symphony in 1987 and Go Off! in 1988. Cacophony broke up in 1989 and Becker began doing solo work, having released his first album Perpetual Burn in 1988. He later joined David Lee Roth's band and recorded one album with him. However, Becker's success was hampered by his then-diagnosed amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and he was given three to five years to live. In 1996, Becker eventually lost the ability to speak and now communicates with his eyes via a system developed by his father. Despite his disability, he continues composing by using a computer. Today, he remains one of the most influential rock guitarists in the world.
About Max Dible: Max Dible is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music where he majored in composition. He has been close friends with Jason Becker for well over a decade and has spent countless hours, alongside Jason himself, documenting Jason's playing style. No other guitarist has had the opportunity to work directly with Jason to fully decipher all the intricacies of Jason's music. The results are presented in DC Music School's In The Style Of Jason Becker lessons.

Why Zlatan Ibrahimovic are explaining the jason's technique?
I was surprised to see Carl Segan...from the time machine he created in 1953 and now returned as Zlatan.(nobody can know)
Oh no, not another great player will long, lanky fingers that are all the same length, I envy you guys lol. My pinky is my weakest link. I could tell Jason really picked hard. I would really like to see a video of the two of you, with Jason’s instructions of how he played “A little Ain’t enough”… Jason’s way. I see so many videos of different guys playing this song in different ways, and I do also, different transcriptions, but to me, it’s Jason’s way or no way at all and I really want to know how he would have played it. You can tell Jason that I love his “Hot For Teacher” demo, that was awesome, those tricks and fills were totally ripping. ROCK ON JASON, I hope his breathing is better now. Cheers
Why are Carvin guitar pickups so damn harsh sounding?
His signatures are literally called perpetual burn, if they arent hot and bright thatd beat the point.
what is the lesson here?
0:25
He seems a bit nerdy, but pretty cool.
I like guitar nerds. Heck, I AM one!
Nice representation of Jason's style.
Thanks to everyone involved in putting this together.
Recommend a 10th Standard Jason Becker follower's composition: ruclips.net/video/oGweh9WwkjA/видео.html
Eric Johnson and Jason have a lot of similar lines when they solo. It’s almost like he does EJ lines but way faster and more notes. Is it me or am I crazy?
Very similar phrasing. Perhaps that's why I've taken a liking and have picked up much of Altitudes.
Am i hearing a paul gilbert tone??
That's what I thought! Paul Gilbert definitely has a way different feel though. A lot more vibrato with the left hand and pretty much no sweeping.
Micheal Lee Firkins is the man for that whammy slide guitar style
Dare to Zlatan!
Dc music can you PLEASE,PLEASE release a DVD of this....PLEASE
I really like that tone.. it fits his style.
Do it Manouche guitar. Every new string that gets pick downstroke, no matter how awkward. +1
Max Dibble! How are you brother? Max Rico here!
ibrahimovic !!
Cuts off right when they’re about to explain something.
Right. It’s bs
Why did you even think about bothering Jason Becker's guitar? Is this because he cannot walk now?
Whatever happened to this dude? Not Jason but the chap doing the lesson
what's the secret?!!
Its secret
So he just played down up down up even while switching strings?
To get that attack...
+Φιλιππος reminds of the moment they reveal krabby patty secret formula in spongebob
+BlazDGuitar Absolutly! lol
@Lithuanian GLOCK31_NH420 Might be in his left hand!
It cant be his left hand
I think it's pretty awesome you can play like that, yeah cool.
I didnt know zlatan could shredd...
I am nothing short of devastated that these lessons cost money. Being a broke man has never pained as much as it has upon seeing the possible secrets that are held on these guitar lessons.
Guitar sounds terrible
So do you
To you…the “sound”of something is subjective; I know folks that hate EJ’s tone,I LOVE 💕 it;I know folks that love Dimebag’s tone,I HATE it. There’s a little bit of that “Angry Insect”thing here, but this guys execution is great
Late to the party but fantastic video and amazing playing!
I like his thoughts on vibrato, so in other words don't do the kirk hammett vibrato.
What’s the secret??
Does not.teach .just. show
jeanpol casanova for this level of playing just showing is fine, if you need to learn very slowly then it's too hard for you, come back in a few years.
Don Soucy if showing was teaching, then the Alexander technique would be done by watching someone else play on the Internet and the practitioners would have no reason to go to a music School for an entire day in person for pre-scheduled appointments. There is a reason that music teachers insist on describing the subtle kinesthetic differences between the way you are currently executing a technique and the way they are teaching you because one will be more optimal in the long run. Why do you think a practitioner of Brazilian jujitsu with a black belt and 12 years of experience will go at least once a year to train with someone who has 30 or 40 years experience?
Thanks Jason! This is awesome!
I am so excited to get these!
your picking hand is like Gilbert but your legato is like jason
love this
Nih yg di sebut dewa gitar. Andaikan tangan gue seperti dia. Bisa bisa tenar gue👍
Where is the full video of the lesson?
Anyone know what amp he is using?

no pedagogy without interest
what technique should i be learning for speed that can be used on all songs
Alternate picking lol
I need to get a job
Quick
any video about Jason becker's picking mechanic? like right hand position? planting? wrist movement? or thumb and index movement? I'd love to see that , can you make him give informations about it please
if u watch videos with jason playing, u easily can see that jason is wrist picker, nothing special in his picking technique imo
peculiarly, there does seem to be a tremendous amount of thumb/index movement in his alternate picking. I am still trying to figure out whether his alternate picking is based on CROSS PICKING or 2-Way-PICKSLANTING, or whether it is a combination of both. His alternate picking is very different from paul gilberts or batios. And I don't thing he uses economy picking at all (like Yngwie Malmsteen), although I might be wrong.
I c zlatan... wtf!!!
he like a sifuu
max is the man!!!
That last idea or technique, how is it called?? It sounds really mysterious haha
I think they're some kind of artificial armonics that are commonly on classical guitars. dunno that's the impression i get
his fretting hand is doing like a capo and he is picking twelves fret highers like natural armonics, so basicly you put your finger across the string in the fifth fret and pick the armonics in the 17th fret as they were naturals armonic on the 12 fret or something like that, im not completely sure really
Enzo Calquin Check out Ted Greene and Lenny Breau. Jason loves both of them.
Vai turned me on to Ted, Jason turned me on to Lenny.
They both did fabulous work with artificial harmonics. I'd say Ted learned from Lenny.
Eddie Van Halen does a nice tribute to the both of them on his piece called Spanish Fly from VH 2.
Enjoy!
Artificial harmonics. Typical classical guitar technique. You press the note with your fret hand. You slightly touch the string with your index finger of your picking hand at a distance of 24 frets (you have to guess where it is actually) and then use your middle finger of the picking hand to actually pick the string. So,for example, its fret 5(left hand), harmonic 29 imaginary fret touch(index-R hand), pick ( middle-R hand). Hope it helps.
Steve Morse pioneered that, great stuff!
noisy . get your gear right.
This is not the jason technique
Jason personally approved this lesson and said “Yes this is my technique”
I have met Max (the instructor) and have been good friends with him. Max has known Jason for 15+ years. Jason chose Max because he knows his technique!
this is jason becker?
RorysIrishTour no that’s max lol
jason technique not the best, but as composer i think he is the Best..not so fast, but amazing composer..
