- In the beginning of 2019 the young classical composer Konstantin Kokourov will release his first album Notes. The composition Air will be the first single. It is a cover version of Jason Becker’s composition from the album Perpetual Burn, which was released 30 years ago. Konstantin grew up on Becker’s music. His art and thirst for life is a guiding star for the composer. The American guitarist has been suffering from a serious affliction - Lou Gehrig's disease for many years. Jason can communicate and compose music only by moving his eyes. “Jason Becker’s compositions have helped me to live to the fullest, to work, to make music, and not to squander precious time over the past ten years,” explains Konstantin Kokourov. Jason and Konstantin stay in touch. The guitar player has already heard the final version of Air, recorded with orchestra in Berlin, and Jason gave his approval. “It’s amazing! It’s hard to find words to say how happy I am to hear such a beautiful version of Air. Absolutely fantastic!” says the musician. Konstantin’s album was recorded in Berlin at Teldex Studio and performed by the Scoring Berlin Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Bernhard Wünsch. Tobias Lehmann - a three-time Grammy Award winner - was the sound engineer. The release is scheduled for February-March 2019.

When a full orchestra plays your composition, your are a timeless legend
When a full orchestra plays a composition you wrote as a 17 year old...
@@LogioTek that’s absolutely right. He WAS 17 when he wrote this.
@@LogioTek That's literally on par with other timeless legends like Mozart himself. Becker truly is the Bach of our time.
I wonder what the classical musicians thought of the composition? 😆
@@juancarlos-mj6kq Jason compose song like timeless composite musician like Mozart, Beethoven, or Bach😂.
Air will forever be the greatest piece of the 20th century
Im crying.. so beautiful!! I love you Jason
Jason compuso esta genialidad con solo 17 o 18 años, es.magia pura.
jason make this 15 years old ..oh jason ur a genius
OMG! Amazing song jason! And amazing cover, thanks for your music , your music is my inspiration! Thanks jason!
this needed to be done. congrats!
MAHAKARYA...setelah selama belasan tahun pertama kali dengar sekitar tahun 1999 dan akhirnya dipersembahkan oleh orchestra yg demikian epic.iam so happy n crying.my God.
Angan angan yg melintas antar dimensi.saya TDK bisa berkata apa apa lagi.
😍
Congratulations Jason. This has always been a beautiful master piece.
Beethoven was deaf while composing beautiful music. Jason for over 25 yrs now, confined to a wheelchair is still composing music with only the movements of his eyeballs. Jason Becker is a super musical genius and we have had the pleasure to experience his work. And to think he began composing this when he was just 15. Thank you Jason. As a guitarist myself of over 40 years, you are my hero.
I agree!
Cheers from Portugal 🍺🤘
Incredibly talented 😳
Fun fact: Beethoven used bone conduction to hear his piano and through that composed while being deaf. Of course, he also had such a developed musicianship that he could imagine the sounds in his head.
🎯🙌💯👊
Today I was crying of sadness but now im crying of happiness
My dream since I was a child was to be the best guitarist in the world, I came to America just to be a great guitarist like Jason, I rehearse every day to be able to record a great album and I only hope that one day my album will become something as majestic as perpetual burn, I’ll never give up!!!!
I play electric guitar too, Jason is my favorite guitarist. My dream is to learn to play his masterpieces like "Perpetual burn", "Air" and my favorite and the greatest in my opinion composition he ever created "Altitudes". I play every day for few hours and I hope that one day I will share here, on RUclips, my own cover of these songs. Keep playing bro and never give up, electric guitar is the most beautiful instrument!
@@Artur-nj7lm Same here! I'm inspired by Jason since the beggining, when i heard his first song altitudes i was blown away, and i said "I NEED TO LEARN THIS SONG" and i will!
Thank you for the great music Jason!
It must feel incredible to finally have your classical piece played by a proper orchestra 30 years later. After all the struggles, your work continues to inspire others. This is really awe-inspiring!
written at 18 years old.
@@OoogaBoog 17 - says so by Jason himself at the start of the video.
Imagine if they played serrana
I am very agree
That would be awesome.
I bought "Perpetual Burn" the week it was released in June 1988. It was released the same day as Marty Friedman's "Dragon's Kiss" and I bought this one too the same day. I knew the two men were friends and played in a very heavy band called Cacophony. I knew I wouldn't like Cacophony because of the vocals but this was another affair... I was immediately amazed by the performance but also the very original compositions on "Perpetual Burn". Jason was hardly 18 and already, he wasn't a clone of Yngwie Malmsteen, far from it. "Altitudes" is the first masterpiece on the album. "Air" is the second. Everybody should have this album just for those two single tracks, really. Not only the music on "Air" is absolutely beautiful but the level of playing is incredible and rarely heard in rock music. I seem to hear some JS Bach in the middle and as I've always loved classical music and Bach especially, it was heaven for me... I've always cherished this track and it's obviously a piece very close to classical music. It is great to hear it orchestrated and played on the piano. A nice change. Jason Becker has always been way more than just another great metal guitar player... His music was different right from the start. And it's really fantastic that Konstantin Kokourov found this and had it arranged this way... I just love the initial arrangement with the clean electric guitars and a bit of synthesizer but this one is interesting and gives another dimension to the track, more epic. There is certainly more music, from "Perspective" especially, Jason's second album, that would benefit from such arrangements.
Well said. 100% agree with everything including rarely mentioned and already orchestrated Perspective masterpieces. I think the difficulty for Perspective covers is perhaps there is no sheet music and transcription from that level is a daunting task. Also some stuff there isn't even playable unless you stagger the players and sync them perfectly. Those masterpieces were composed using a computer program to synthesize instrument voices and without any regard for the actual orchestra. My favorite from Perspective is Life and Death.
Yngwie Malmsteen music is boring. Yeah he's good but if we listen his music overtimes that's absolutely boring and dizzy🙁.
@@LogioTek : I only see your answer today, sorry. Thank you for the insight. Yes, i remember the liner notes in Perspective, where it's explained that the notes are sequenced and come from a computer program. We can hear it's not played by human hands, actually... I suppose that M. Kokourov could maybe do the transcription. I guess it's a difficult work. I remember that a classical musician whose name escapes me now, transcribed Deep Purple's Concerto for Group and Orchestra written by the late Jon Lord, because the score was lost, in the late 90's, it must have been a big job as well.
Life and Death from Perspective is a very original piece, quite complex.
I found this album in 1989 on CD. I didnt own a CD player yet so I bought one just for that album. I had never heard anything like it. I was so blown away. A couple years later I found the tableture for Air in an issue of Guitar Player Magazine.and issue and practiced it for months until I knew every note and inflection. This orchestra version is great but The original became etched into my brain and will always be the preferred version. Same goes for The End of the Beginning from Perspectives. It was tragic and cruel what happened to jason. Out of all the ppl in the world, why Jason?
Well said. I remember Jason and Marty put on a guitar clinic back in 88-89 so a friend and I went to see them because we were huge fans of Cacophony. I couldn't believe that maybe only 50 people showed up, people just didn't get their genius. Cacophony also played later that night and again only 75-100 people showed up. True the vocalist made it a little hard to listen to but it grew on me, great band and great show.
Epic win, Jason!!! I am so happy I am crying!
me 2.
And me
Yep.
I remember being 16 trying to write scores like this. Phenomenal work. I was and still no where near the caliber of Jason but everything he writes just inspires me to play again. It wakes up that child I was that wanted to learn and understand music.
next up, speed metal symphony!
Yeah!!
The end of the beginning, please!! If you do Crowdfunding I will help for sure!!
Fudge yeah!!!
Air was always a very meaningful piece to me.
The Modern Hermeticist same for me, it s special
Jason was only 17 when he composed this piece. As far as I know, as a musician myself who studied classical guitar, Jason Becker is quite possibly the greatest musician since Ludwig Van Beethoven. Even with only moving his eyeballs today, he has written beautiful complex music. It’s amazing to say the least
I really think so. He's a genius.
The views should be in the millions. This was always a Masterpiece.
I completely agree with this remarks. The total number of views is criminally underrated for such masterpiece!
No doubts about it 😁😁😁😁
You set the bar too high with “ Air”, a true masterpiece, composed at a very young age. When I first listened to it back in 1988 I knew you were different. At that tender age you demonstrated to be a big bad scary monster both as a guitarist and also as a composer. You became my favorite rock guitarist from that moment on (above Marty, Gilbert, Yngwie, Vinnie Moore, Tafolla, McAlpine, etc, etc). The beauty of this masterpiece captivated me, and led me to discover more beautiful compositions of yours, from “Altitudes” to “Triumphant Heart”... and through different videos of yours I also discovered my guitar hero was also a very, very, very nice, decent and likeable human being (rare to find within rock scene), humble and shy who happened to transform into that monster when grabbing a guitar. This is indeed a beautiful version, a must have one .... but I still prefer the magic of the original. Hats off Maestro!! You set the bar too high.... too high...
Damn it Jason. Youre up there with the greats. Bach Mozart Beethoven Becker.
This is the real deal. nothing in this era have moved me to tears. until you. This is magic. Thank you Jason for having the prevelige beeing on this earth along side you. Fantastic! Thank you maestro!
Besides Mozart, Bach and Segovia, I think also you payed respects to composer Joaquín Rodrigo, who was blind since the age of 3 and still learned to read music in braille, studied music and wrote amazing masterpieces. He lived 97 years. You are also capable of overcoming difficulties and succeed due to your passion, talent and love for life. I admire you so much Jason. Long Live Jason Becker.
So true
Jason Becker you are a legend. Great job by Konstantin Kokourov as well.
@@tingladosskateboardingvale4908 Segovia shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Bach or Mozart FFS.
beautiful hearing those notes on piano wow love it! jason is our beethoven, bach etc
Great rendition, Jason should be proud. God bless you and yours Jason.
Wow! This is pretty amazing.
Una obra digna de ejecutarse en cada sala de concierto 👏 esto fue lo primero que escuché de tí y sigue siendo asombroso para mis oídos
Sublime! Fantástico! Bravo! Grandioso! Maravilloso! Gracias Jason Becker! Gracias Konstantin Kokourov!
This is magic. Jason you are great my friend❤
There's no stopping a spirit with this determination... Jason, you keep this world beautiful!
Such a perfect arrangement and orchestration work, definitely a pleasure to listen to, i would say that this immortalizes even more this piece, (but that's just my opinion), thanks to the people behind this and to you Jason!
And this is for all the people that are going around saying that Jason is just a shredder without soul...
This is art to its finest...
But only people that never dug deeper into his discography. 'Perspective' album put that argument to rest ~25 years ago if one couldn't already hear it on 'Perpetual Burn' album.
@@LogioTek
Well stated my friend...
Wait, who the fuck said that Jason has no soul?? for me he is one of the most soulful guitar shredder of all time.
I never heard anyone say that.
Becker is Bach reincarnated
There I go again; brought to tears in public by beautiful music, yet another of God's gifts, which He giveth us, freely. 🙏🎶
Posta que llore con esta versión de la canción!!!
Jason sos enorme!!!!
i guess for classically trained musicians like these, playing such a piece is their daily bread and butter, but for a simple rock and metal guy like me, who hardly plays more than 4 chords has hardly more than 2 key changes in a song, this is just mindblowing and hard to believe some rock guitar player half my age (at the time) composed this. Jason you're truly an extraordinary person. one of the all time greatest.
I like it.
Just amazing! That song is so beautiful that even if they played it with the worst instruments in the worst environment, it would still sound great! Thank you Meastro Becker for that magnificient piece. I have said it before, but here it is again. In many years from now, your name will appear in books or on the Net next to the Mozart, Bach and all the Great Composers because you belong in that elite group! Pat
Jason becker God bless you forever
Anything that Jason makes. is just a TRUE MASTERPIECE in musicality of this generation and so fourth . It's just sad he can't play anymore but! He's still writes bad ass too supreme music!
Bravo, bravíssimo, não contenho as lagrimas. Jason, você é o milagre! Sou feliz por viver a existência simultânea com você na terra.

common ..why this epic stuff only have litle view..very sad to the new genaration..
Incredible, Amazing...Astonishing!
When Jason Becker will have the recognition he deserves?
Amazing arrangement and execution of Konstantin and the orchestra! Congratulations!
Wow, just simply incredible….wish I could have seen Beckers face the first time he heard it

Than you so much for this beautiful version!!!
JASON. YOU ARE THE NEW MOZART. 🙏 GOD BLESS YOU. THANKS FOR ALL. ❤
I wish they would do another jason composition like end of the beginning in full orchestra like this and maybe even serrana or higher!
Jason you will go down in history
Wow!!!!!! Un maestro, sin duda el mejor expositor del neoclásico. Un genio, la madurez con que componía a tan temprana edad. Abrazos ídolo.
The intro and then the outcome.....im in tears.
You are the reason why my father gave me this name Mr. Jason.
Oh that's perfect !! This is real neoclassical music. Thanks to Jason and to the orchestra. I hope Jason will listen to this
Beautiful! It was only a matter of time before this and many other Becker compositions are recorded with a full orchestra. ^-^
Amazing. Very beautyful melody. One of the greatest compositions of the past 100 years. Fell joi coming over me when i listen it.
y tenias 18 cuando compusiste eso ?...sos de otro mundo amigo jason te adoro hermano
Jason you are my hero and idol. Respect from Turkey.
Perfecto
One of the greatest artists ever.
Yngwie malmsteen: This had to be an accident. It had to be ..
It better be.
lol Amadeus reference? Definitely ain't an accident because Perspective comes with several more masterpieces that would eclipse even this one if covered as well as this one.
@@LogioTek yea it is
Its very easy to compose to orchestra section...because this song born for orchestra but thats time jason becker only play this song on a guitar very genius
Feels to hear the rhythm of magic and its beauty..⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍👍
El inmortal Jason!!
The first thing I did with my new headphones (the first ones that I could consider of good quality) was this song, It worth the money, each cent!
Awesome!!
Simply beautiful Jason much love.
Altitudes with orchestra please

Amazing, congratulations from Spain!
just *WONDERFUL*
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is why Jason is one of the best classical composer of our time.
No words 👍
Yah I lived in a Jason Beckers era!
Amazing!
Amazing!!! please maestro Becker, ask maestro Kokourov to adapt "Higher" for orchestra, or "Serrana", or "End of the Begining", please. Wish both of you the best.
Throw Life and Death in there too.
Suena a Gloria
I have a dream...
Fills me with joy to know this exists.
hubiera sido un sueño ver tocar a jason en vivo con ellos =(
Amazing
Nice piano concerto! But the intense piano climax at 4:50 is covered over by the orchestra. They should have doubled the piano part there. I worked on that sweep for days when I was a kid.
You were way ahead of your time my man good stuff!
que emoción!! la genialidad de un adolescente que jamás dejo de sorprenderme.
wow! really love jason. such a good composer
To me, Jason Becker is like a Commander who had just conquered Constantinople
i always wonder if some people born in this time who wrote pieces such as Jason with such virtuosity and love and emotion and heavy intention were reborn from their past life's which seem like they embody the tones and love and timeless nature of the greats such as Bach, Paganini, Segovia Chopin the list could go on. I simply wonder if that may have been a possibility. but seeing as to the repetitive nature of music now a days pushed into the ears of the masses like trap which stemmed from the culture based in hip hop and its love of poetry and poetic justice and reggaeton, it all seems to confine people to not try and take music as it was intended the silence in between the music, the intentions and emotions etched into and from the heart of the musicians and composers
I love and appreciate your work and am and will always be grateful that you were put on this earth in a time where i would discover you and your amazing work. To be presented with an arrangement of your classical style into what instruments I can almost hear you emulate in your music and a full-fledged arrangement or suite is a timeless treat knowing you deserve at least that! Thank you for giving life and fire to the hearts of young musicians who are lucky enough to come across your music, just like me. Thank you, Jason \m/
Well said. Jason has a little bit of everyone in him from Vivaldi to Bach to Mozart to Paganini. We do have a modern candidate for Paganini reborn in Roman Kim. He continues right where Paganini left off in his time. Unrivaled left hand and exploration of advanced polyphony on violin (4-5 simtaneous instrument voices, yes he uses his thumb). Check him out. He also composes original works. I really love his Concerto #1, 'Dies Irae' theme, 'I Brindisi', '3 Romances'
Lol... I've never seen the string section work sooo hard... Thank You.... Such a wonderful cover!!! Love IT!
that jason becker art ...every part not easy to play...
Thank you Jason.
Jason Jason Jason te amo te amo te amo
Now i understand what you wanted to communicate us... What i realized that you sre not only a prodigy on tje guitar; you are a composer such as john williams, vivaldi, Beethoven, etc.
