Can you imagine what an iconic collaboration it would’ve been to have an album completely composed, arranged, & played by Jason Becker & Cliff Burton? Both men were gifted somehow with next level technical prowess (the compulsion to grind through hour after hour for years), ingenuity/unique & distinctive styles, & shared affinity for/appreciation of classical music... that would’ve made for a mind-blowing record, imo. I hear the possibilities in my head sometimes when I’m pondering the non-'hair-metal' metal from the 80s.

@@dermetaller15 Yea he is a great composer too if you check his 'Perspective' (1996) and 'Triumphant Hearts' (2018) albums, which he composed while paralyzed although 'Perspective' has a few tracks like 'Rain' and 'Blue' (SRV tribute) that he actually played and recorded himself in late 80s or right before ALS set in deeper in 1990.
Maaan his frikken fingers were so fast and smooth… and he hit every note without faking any. Like Randy Rhoads, he was taken away from us way too soon, before he really bloomed. What those two guys could have accomplished in 30+ years would have been musical bliss.
Dude was a legend... once in a lifetime... 99% of you play guitar watching this,... you know the feelling... the same feeling got you into guitar... this guy was once in a lifetime.. he had soul.. spirit... all I can say is "wow", not because of the guitar playing , BECAUSE OF THE SOUL!
Fantastic to actually see him playing Drop in the Bucket, I’m so glad there’s some footage of him playing something off A ‘Lil Ain’t Enough. He was robbed of an epic world tour on the back of that album.
I am so glad that RUclips didn't exist when I was a young guitarplayer during the late 80s. Certainly I would have been inspired by the immense talent, but I guess having it displayed in my face would have killed the joy and confidence I felt, despite all my limitations. Somehow hearing amazing talent on record were primarily inspiring, because those guys played in a league of their own. But this gets so close and intimate I cannot but confess how much talent I lacked - and then I am not even considering the technical discrepancy. That which grows needs some protection from reality before it can stand on its own two feet and walk properly. Anyone else that thinks that RUclips can have a detrimental effect on young people, pace that it is also obviously inspiring?
I think the opposite. My guitar teacher was an amazing Classical/Flamenco player. He manhandled and shredded nylon strings, 3 feet away from me every Saturday morning. Then I would be absolutely inspired to go home and play the entire day and evening, Saturday and Sunday, 2 to 4 hours on weekdays. That is the ultimate inspiration! Remember that Jason's dad is a classical guitarist, and his uncle a jazz guitarist. Jason was immersed in inspiration directly from actual humans. I think it helped him.
This "Kid" reminds me so much of me...............when i'm dreamin'!.....( to bad I have to wake up)!............unreal talent!..........truly amazing! ......not just speed, but musicality along with that amazing speed. Jason is truly a phenomenal guitarist here, a true inspiration in many ways ,Thank you Mr. Becker!
Bless you I'm just now finding about this phenomenon which I found through Eddie's Van Halen's death basically it's just incredible I mean I pray that would be one of my wishes as well beautiful comment
You could ask to find a cure for ALS. That is the most terrible disease, and to think that thousands live with it just breaks me. My dad also had this disease 😞
Just imagine Jason being there in front of you going: "dang, dang.." and then hitting Serrana Arpeggios at this ferocious speed and as accurate and clean as possible...The guy's chops were insane. Love you Jason! I always thought as an anecdote to break the sadness that his body just gave up cos it couldn't handle the skills.....
Jason is an inspiration. If there was ever an example of "life ain't fair" it's him. But the man, despite his illness, managed to keep going and keep writing. I hope to own one of his Carvin tribute guitars one day. He also makes a great point, it's not all about playing fast. Playing slow and making it count is the hard part. His mastery of the guitar was truly something to behold.
People that don’t play guitar can’t comprehend what it takes to play this good and this cleanly. Sweep picking those big patterns that fast going up and down the neck so cleanly takes serious time it’s hard to believe he played this good at his age.
This guy was without a doubt a genius at what he did before ALS stole his guitar playing abilities. I understand why some people make comments regarding his wiping the floor with EVH, however, music is not just about being able to shred like a beast, it's also about writing great songs that touch people and make them want to get up and bop around. EVH was an amazing talent with a gift not only to come up with a type of playing that influenced a generation of guitar players ( including Jason Becker ), but come up with great songs. Shredding is nothing without great songs. Songs that EVH wrote will be listened to and remembered forever. Having said all that, I agree that Jason Becker had an amazing gift as well.
That's fair but Jason is a genius at what he has done AFTER the ALS diagnosis as well. Check his 'Perspective' (1996) and 'Triumphant Hearts' (2018) albums he composed while paralyzed and on ventilator. They are varied and full of masterpieces spanning many genres. It's easy to focus on the shred but Jason has inspired composers that never even touched a guitar... like m.ruclips.net/video/Vt4YHlSbuk0/видео.html this can't be said about other guitar players. Jason is for sure THAT one shredder for who technicality vs musicality argument falls out of the window as he could go toe to toe with literally anyone from either camp even AS A TEENAGER.
Amazing! Not only his playing, insight to his insane knowledge, but even how super chill and humble he is. He was a kid here too. I’m glad this is uploaded here as I only seen parts in the past and I been thinking about his music every now and then. I can’t help listening to his music over the years. It is incomprehensible that if this man could have continued to improve over the years that he would not be known as the greatest musician of all time. And honestly, given his situation, he is still in the running.
At 7:40 He talked about a computer being able to play the run on the guitar in 1989 ?? I found that to be strange considering computers weren't widely known to do that type of thing back in 1989 and that would also be how he would compose music after he suffered from his illness.
Just when you think he's going to hit the resolution note/chord, he takes off into another blistering run of arpeggiated licks and riffs, before nearing another near note resolution. But wait!, there's more! Becker was a beast on guitar. It really sux that he succumbed to such a debilitating disease. God Bless You Jason. Your current music continues to impress the hell out me, not to mention the music world too. Keep on Rockin' buddy. \m/

@@dorianponcela9680 If Malmsteen has a slight piece of Beckers attitude/ character, that would suit him better. Seen him live but what arrogant ego vibes, where Becker is humble and friendly. Just saying!
Jason is The Best..Period..!!..Dang I miss this era..God Bless You and Your Family Brother..
What kind of sorcery is this? I've never seen anybody play like him, I'm blown away.
Yea Jason absorbed many great musical influences from Baroque (i.e. Vivaldi, Bach, etc.) onward plus his own style.
@@LogioTek I think of him like a rockstar-version of Paganini. I played Guitar for over 11 years and never came across someone like Jason.
Obviously the 6 thumbs down are not guitarist and/or do not appreciate a genius at work. Jason was the Einstein of guitar. Love you Jason.
Genius? Dont joke
Jason Becker - The Best Guitarist on the Earth!
whats amazing is that this was just the tip of the iceberg of what he was going to become,he would have redefined what a guitar virtuoso is.
Drop in the Bucket is Becker’s Take your Whiskey Home
One of the most beautiful thing I've ever seen...
Jonas Hjerpe ya
Becker!
Immagine where he would be now playing with his hands!!!
Jason Becker is magic!!!
the best dude to ever play guitar. love jason becker. hope hes feeling better every day
Whenever a good fairy will grant me three wishes, my first one will be: Give Jason Becker his health back forever...
Bless you I'm just now finding about this phenomenon which I found through Eddie's Van Halen's death basically it's just incredible I mean I pray that would be one of my wishes as well beautiful comment
That’s a good wish. 🤘
You could ask to find a cure for ALS. That is the most terrible disease, and to think that thousands live with it just breaks me. My dad also had this disease 😞
I love you Jason, thanks so much for always flying around in my World.Always listening
His mastery of the guitar was truly something to behold.
can't help but smile at this guy. and thank all the gods this tape exists!
People that don’t play guitar can’t comprehend what it takes to play this good and this cleanly. Sweep picking those big patterns that fast going up and down the neck so cleanly takes serious time it’s hard to believe he played this good at his age.
my favorite display of immense mastery & humilty.
First time seeing him play! There's no words worthy of his abilities!
Truly one of the greats. I hope he's doing well.
One of the rare vids of Jason out there with good sound. Hard to believe 30 years have gone by, what a time, the early Shrapnel years. I remember.
@@LogioTek for sure he's a talented musician/composer, no doubt about that. Incredibly gifted.
Amazing! Not only his playing, insight to his insane knowledge, but even how super chill and humble he is. He was a kid here too. I’m glad this is uploaded here as I only seen parts in the past and I been thinking about his music every now and then. I can’t help listening to his music over the years. I don’t think 6 strings could’ve of held him. Dude is such a beast! Thank you for putting the whole thing on here ❤️
This video screams LEGENDARY VIRTUOSO! Jason Becker is easily one of my favorite guitarist of all time.
Hard work at it's BEST!
Inspirational...
He admitted he can’t replay back like his records.. because he can do better once the record done !! Wow.... he’s a real deal
That "Japanese Scale" was something that I was looking for... Very interesting sound and he used it so well.
Just a Incredible talent. Things he shows or explains in a few seconds are priceless.
Face melted. Thanks Jason.
The Legend of Jason Becker... the most important CD of my collection !! I was 16 when they gave it to me
I can play the part from 0.04 to 0.06. Got it down perfectly.
Tabs please?
@@FreeTheJambon tab is 100 bars, just those few seconds.
I Can PLAY from 0:00 to 0:04 .
3:48 that string skipping right there was the bomb.
2024 hur and still hits me like a freight train of his masterful abilities on a simple slab of wood and steel. I promise I weep a tear for Jason and all the music he would have created. This life is so unfair sometimes with no absolute reason.
Jason still the best
Now my brain's melted, thank you Jason.
the true of master of guitar on the world until today (2019) can not be compare with another guitar player. he is the only one and never become two
Imagine him NOW...2021!
Damn he was good (my favourite player of ALL time!!!)
ALL the others...Malmsteen, Vai, Satriano, Bonnomassa and so on...noooo
Jason had THAT in his fingers...no explanation..only listen to his work and play, decide for yourself!
Damn he was good/are
vafan!!!!
Alla vet vem Jason e...
Han e fan bäst...

Jag är INTE en av dom!
Jason Becker Is my favorite guitarist player of all TIME ! It was and is STILL the best guitar player in the ALL WORLD ! No one can take he's place.
He loved it purely
And that's what makes it even sadder
, this guy is the best ever

What an Amazing Player🙏🎸😎 Speechless!!!!!
It is incomprehensible that if this man could have continued to improve over the years that he would not be known as the greatest musician of all time. And honestly, given his situation, he is still in the running.
Beautiful! Thank you for uploading this...
I never realized he was such a master of techniques.
💙💚💙
Este video junto al de Shawn lane son oro puro y te das cuenta que estos tipos estaban a otro nivel,
Que barbaridad de guitarrista!!!!
I am allready blown away by the first 44 seconds of this video he was a good as Paul Gilbert age 18.
I'm impressed by your playing Jason.. 👍
The Hotlicks DVD is a high quality VHS transfer of this lecture and more. The VHS transfer was cleaned up a great deal for the DVD and looks fantastic compared to the youtube clips circulating.I just got it and highly recommend it for Jason Becker fans
I’ve been a Steve Vai fan for many years! Jason is the only one that I would say is better than Steve Vai. And don’t tell Steve I said that!! Lol. Jason can play so fast and smooth all at the same time. Much love and prayers for Jason Becker.
I think Steve vai would even say he’s better than him
I only have a few favorite guitarists and Jason Becker is one of them!!! Jason your the man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing! Hope someday you can subtitle this video
Very Awesome, thanks fo this post! Jason Becker is fantastic the best!!
Amazing!
My render admiración for such a great human being.
Its so sad he has ALS - I didnt really know much about him honestly. But to be this good and loose your movement and also be essentially presumed to die. And yet he has preserved and continued to make music! Incredible. Jason has some serious fortitude.
Amazing...
Very influential guitarist.... back in the day he was among the top shredders... must be nice to have skills like that!!
