  • This is superb guys. After first minutes of noodling they play (at 2:13) Black Cat Outro Jam/ Namida Tears and then they go into improvisation playing freely over a blues chord progression. Highlights are:
    1) Jasons awesome technique
    2)Martys awesome technique
    3) Jasons "look" and "smile" every time Marty bends a beautiful note! Sign of recognition of the majesty in Maryts feel of melodies...
    4) Intro from the song "Savage" unplugged at the beginning plus other little parts of songs.
    My personal favourites are the parts when Jason rips then goes "ah..." when Marty enters the story. Like he knows he is a better guitarist than Marty but still cannot believe how the "teacher" finds these notes!!!

      By the way, he still composes today, but his music was shaped in styles he only knew after his illness, styles that perhaps he never would have followed had he not become ill, so while his music is still amazing, I wonder what it would be like today if he never got sick.

Hell, perspective and perpetual burn are pretty dang different from each other since he was losing control of his body while making perspective but both albums are still guitar instrumentals. Triumphant heart isnt. Guitar is just another instrument in an orchestra pretty much on triumphant hearts. Thats how i feel while listen to it at least. I do love trumphant hearts though. Both are amazing and unique guitarists but in this particular video, we see the CLEAR difference between jason and marty's playing. Of course jason has a lot more of technique than marty but marty has much more feel when he plays, his solos are like stories being told, and jason's solos are much more of a technique showdown, as you can see he relies on arpeggios and fast picking most of the time, while marty focus more on the storytelling of his solo. Marty comes up with exotic melodies that are simply astonishing!
    These two together are, of course, one of the best guitar duos in history!

    I want to know the chord progression they jammed to at around the 2:14 mark. I also heard that was a common 'game' they would play with each other where one would play a chord progression while occasionally slipping odd chords to intentionally attempt to throw off the other player. I recall Jason stating that it was nearly impossible to throw Marty off because he would always manage to make any note harmoniously match any/every chord that was behind him, in spite of key! Not only does that express how badass Marty is, but man is that a fucking killer way to fortify your improv chops or what!?!?

      Do u even heard carefully the licks Jason plays in here? Almost very cacophony fan knows that as Marty said a lot of times: "Jason is not only about technique, its about his melody and content he had to bring to the table"
      When you hear melodies as Altitudes, Temple of the absurd (which i know marty plays in it but he only plays the second solo, the rest of the song with hits with such a beautiful melody its from jason, you can hear the whammy bar on the licks), Mabel Fatal Fable intro, Opus Pocus, End of the beginning, Serrana, and i could continue giving a lot of examples to give you where Jason knows how to phrase such beautiful licks. Listen to black stallion, continue listening carefully to his music and you'll see how gifted he was :) On this one you also gotta hear him playing his licks, he may add arpeggios but anyone will literally agree and say to you that Jason is the only guy who could sweep creatively and fit his solos with it. And it does. Just pay attention to the improvisation on Black Cat and the blues improv and you'll notice how he keep it musical and according to the solo he is playing. He is literally also the only one who could make sweep sound beautiful and sweet lol Ask that to anybody and they'll tell you that lmao. Gotta admit that Marty is a beast on melodies, but Jason was also on that level of melody :).

As I said, for me Marty went more soulful on Black Cat, but on the Blues Jam Jason did a better improvisation than Marty's. At the end of the day, lets not forget that this are just our opinions :) We all have different tastes and one melody can touch us more than the other one.
    Mucho oreja de chancho por acá que se queda sencillamente en lo convencional.

      +dodge peters marty definately was better when it came to improvisation. He himself said that was an area that jason was lacking in. so yeah, i agree :) about improvisation. When it comes to composition itself, marty is a god but jason is more impressive imo.

    perpetual burn was iconic and creative,but it's painfully clear that Marty influenced Jason's songs and was the main writer in cacophony. Sorry jason fanatics,but Marty was the man in that duo. love u jason.

    • @mayanktrakru
      @mayanktrakru 6 лет назад +9

      Jason Nolte Marty influenced Jason but perpetual burn album is way better than anything Marty has ever done. And speaking of cacophony, Marty doesn’t have a single song he has written just by himself but Jason has images. Imo in cacophony Jason had equal role as compared to Marty if not more. I’m not putting down Marty , I love him but u can’t just disrespect becker without knowing shit. Peace.

      that's bs. Marty has the ninja, savage, floating world, sword of the warrior and desert island. and it really is not debatable whether Marty wrote almost all of speed metal symphony. go off was more collaborative. it's really not a competition, as they're both at that level where it's really just about preference. one is not better than the other.

    • @mayanktrakru
      @mayanktrakru 6 лет назад +1

      guitar battles live desert island is done by both of them if not only Jason. Remember that solo? Do you actually think Marty played it? And as far as sword of the warrior is concerned , it has more Jason vibe. The main melody of speed metal sympohony is also made by Jason (hint : 1986 jam). I mean.... Marty also did a lot of it. It’s not like one of them did more than the other but just that I enjoy Jason parts more than Marty parts ,that’s why I focus more on those. Jason is the best for me and Marty is a close second. Isn’t it just amazing how these 2 great talents came together?

      these are the album credits. Jason obviously plays the solo from 3:35-3:48 in desert island, but the rest is Marty. but you don't get songwriting credit for playing a solo, hence why Marty is not credited on images even though he plays the first big solo. and that's also why he barely has any songwriting credits on the early megadeth records. but there's obviously no beef here. we pretty much agree, except Marty is my number one and Jason a close second. like i said, at this level it really is just preference. it just bothered me a bit because i have the album with the credits written on it.

      why compare the two? both of them are great and unique in their own style, marty being more exotic/unorthodox and jason more technical in his ways. Marty said that Jason is his inspiration for waking up every morning, so why are you two comparing them?

Similar to Turrets Syndrome of a person who is on Speed, Trying to Out-Do the Next Contestant. Not Groovy, Not Soothing.

    It’s very saddening to realize how much talent he has!!!!!? And then to slowly lose the ability to play the music 🎼 that’s in his head!!!!!? And then they have made a great way to write the music that’s in his soul!!!!!!!!?” And hopefully by now the computer’s that is out there now!? Can really translate the music 🎶 that he’s writing ✍️ in his mind!!!!!!!!!? And I really truly enjoyed the music that he’s played with different characters in the rock and heavy metal music world!!!!!!!!! God bless you all today Shalom
