Both had signature sounds. I could hear a random recording of a sweep and instantly know it was Jason Becker. For Marty, you could show me a random melody line and I would instantly know it was him from the way he bends his notes and how melody just seems to flow freely from that dude.
Both are amazing and unique guitarists but in this particular video, we see the CLEAR difference between jason and marty's playing. Of course jason has a lot more of technique than marty but marty has much more feel when he plays, his solos are like stories being told, and jason's solos are much more of a technique showdown, as you can see he relies on arpeggios and fast picking most of the time, while marty focus more on the storytelling of his solo. Marty comes up with exotic melodies that are simply astonishing! These two together are, of course, one of the best guitar duos in history!
Yes. I wholeheartedly agree with what you said. Marty's notes and also his tones sound like a story. If one has played electric guitar before, one should know it's not easy to pull that kind of half bends and vibrato. Having said that, they are the best combination of two guitarists like Yin and Yang. If two guitarists have the same styles, they would end up sounding similarly.
Marty Friedman is seven years older than Jason. It is very noticeable that Jason is still looking for his own language, and soon after he would record Perpetual Burn, which for me is one of the best electric guitar records in history. Both are amazing

they dont care about pedals, or effects, or whatever bs the marketing has tried to sell you in the last 30 years. just 2 guys, lots of practices, great ear, and awesome playing.
BADASS!!! WHAT A TEAM MAN !! HOPE MARTY IS TAKING CARE OF JAY MAN !! IT ALL STARTED WHEN YOU GUYS TEAMED UP MAN!! NEVER FORGET WHERE YOU COME FROM!!!!
Their playing is mesmerizing.
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ can't imagine
This cacophony of guitar shredding...these guys are animals!
They compliment each other so... wow!
Both had signature sounds. I could hear a random recording of a sweep and instantly know it was Jason Becker. For Marty, you could show me a random melody line and I would instantly know it was him from the way he bends his notes and how melody just seems to flow freely from that dude.
Freaking awesome
Both are amazing and unique guitarists but in this particular video, we see the CLEAR difference between jason and marty's playing. Of course jason has a lot more of technique than marty but marty has much more feel when he plays, his solos are like stories being told, and jason's solos are much more of a technique showdown, as you can see he relies on arpeggios and fast picking most of the time, while marty focus more on the storytelling of his solo. Marty comes up with exotic melodies that are simply astonishing!
These two together are, of course, one of the best guitar duos in history!

You,re right man i think the same thing about marty.
Agreed, I enjoy the fact that they have their own distinct voices.
Marty Friedman is seven years older than Jason. It is very noticeable that Jason is still looking for his own language, and soon after he would record Perpetual Burn, which for me is one of the best electric guitar records in history. Both are amazing
If jason plays like marty...it will sounds like marty duel with himself...
There both the true guitar 🎸 heroes!! Y’all Rock 👍😎🎸🤘
there's a little melody between 6:59 and 7:14, guys listen closely it may not sound the same but it is definitely the same melody that used in Altitudes by Jason, and it is starts at 4:32 in Altitudes, check up
that's Marty's song namida(tears).
guitar battles live i didnt know that marty has a song named namida what i was trying to say is marty inspired him. he put warm melodies at the center of jasons heart.
@@oguzhanaldemir well, yes, but Altitudes was released before Namida. Marty definently influenced Jason's melodies and phrasing though!
every time I pick up my guitar I think of you cos you are cool fuc love you too bits and mart stay strong cool dude your work is amazing
This video is historic art
The best guitar duos ever !!!!
More sweeping going on in this video than an entire year of me cleaning my house
Ooff
Jason's speed and technique+Marty's soul ( that the curlyhead sold to goddamn devil)
