I remember having this case as my first PC that my parents bought in 2000 if I'm not mistaken, it came with a Pentium !!! (Yes, pentium 3 was !!! Back in those days), 64MB of RAM and a Quantum 40GB HDD, all running Windows Me, it also came with those old speakers that had like arms with velcro to tape them on the sides of the monitor, I can't remember the model. I started my love for pcs with that case, now I'm a 27yo systems engineer and this video almost made me cry 😭❤ Thank you very much! I really enjoyed this video! 🤩

This is essentially what I did for my gaming PC. I bought a Dell Optiplex 990 through my university's surplus program, then added an SSD for the OS and upgraded to (currently) 12GB RAM. Once I find employment again, it's getting a new power supply, graphics card, and possibly an i7.

This video was so damn lazy and totaly rushed, I was thinkin the whole video he could have at the very least cleaned that case... also i'd had 3d printed some front covers, or at least get a dummy floppy drive and another cd rom to cover those holes. Then he just slapped an op system in there with zero customization... Totaly effortless.

No SLI? No water cooling? No overclocking? Hell he cant even close the case side panel because it didn't have any case fans. There was nothing ultimate about this PC, its a upper end gaming system with below average build quality. What bothered me was the kind of fake excitement act he seemed to put on for this video? I get he had a day, but the video felt like a placeholder, just to get some kind of content out for the day, with no care to quality
I'm gonna be honest this video was a bit of a let down. You kept saying it was the "Ultimate Sleeper PC" but nothing really felt "Ultimate". Sure the hardware was pretty good but there was nothing really there to make it overkill like water cooling or other such case mods that are completely unnecessary but add to the overkill aesthetic that you mentioned
I finally rebuilt my main rig in my old 2001 Cooler Master ATC 200 and I love it! Everytime I reach over to turn my pc on, it brings a smile to my face to see that old retro prosumer lookin' desktop case.
i don't think "sleeper" pc means, put nice stuff in a dirty ass case... clean that thing up. add proper cooling , fill the front case slots with another cd rom and some floppy drives even if they are just for looks. What you have done here is FAR from "ultimate" and more like half-assed.

In the years of watching most of these tech channels I've always noticed a trend of them all pretty much doing the exact same material, and all within a span of within 3 months. For example, Lewis from Unbox Therapy will do a video on a product, then anywhere between an hour or so all the way up to a month or two later I'll a see another video by either Austin, Judner at UrAverageConsumer, David Lee or even Marques about the exact same thing. So no, Austin isn't exactly stealing from or inspired by Linus. Hell, if anything they all steal from each other. It's just a matter of who puts up their video first.

Do a Test in which you call a technician to repair this pc. Maybe hide a grandma to make it look realistic. Would be funny to see the reactions from the people when they open the case.
Yes it is amazing you found all those new components in such a little time. It was like they was sitting on a shelf and all you needed was money to set them free.
Just need to find a few components to fill those front bays since you don't have the covers. Pop in a floppy drive or 2 and a fan controller and another CD rom. just fill in the blanks, but the fan controller would be the only thing you could really use.
he loses all of his ventilation if he populated all the bays as that old of a pc case isn't outfitted for modern pc air cooling needs, it's actually smarter not to.
@@verndelap I can see what your saying and yeah cooling should be a priority. I had an old Cooler Master Centurion 534 and I took 2 of the drive bay covers out and modded the covers for ventilation by adding mesh screens. Then used a piece of cardboard I traced out a 140mm fan cutout and mounted it in place so I could pull more air in. That left me with a 140mm (slightly restricted air flow) and a 120mm in front pulling in and the back had the 120mm and the PSU fan plus the video card pushing air out. Temps were good in there when I installed my ASUS P67 Sabertooth w/ i7 2600 and GTX 480.
I had that exact case with a 1Ghz Celeron in it back around 2000 - 2001 :) I eventually upgraded it to a Pentium III 1.4Ghz Tualatin processor. So that motherboard looks like my old one too . . . now that I think of it I think that looks like the re-writable CD drive that I had too. Is this seriously my old PC?? I doubt you'll ever see this Austin but can you check if that motherboard had a Pentium III 1.4Ghz Tualatin processor in it?
This PC is even better than Linus's, because when you open it up, all you see is a huge fan over the tiny motherboard. "Nothing to see here, folks. It's an AC."

@@melzoa sleeper builds are meant to look old and crap on the outside, until you remove the side panel and reveal how modern and clean the inside is. Are you unfamiliar with the concept? Painting the interior black is a common choice most builders make and takes minimal effort.

How is this ultimate or anything special? You just got an old system, removed internals and put some more recent components (which fit without any *ultimate* customization) in a older case. Little bit more effort would've been appreciated... For example some water cooling parts; AIO or even custom tubing...

This was nothing but a lazy rushed video to get some quick cash from Intel.

@@melzoa sleeper builds are meant to look old and crap on the outside, until you remove the side panel and reveal how modern and clean the inside is. Are you unfamiliar with the concept? Painting the interior black is a common choice most builders make and takes minimal effort.
