This was THE MOST helpful information I have seen so far on Fibroids. I questioned my need for surgery because my multiple fibroids are not ‘large-sized’. But I have the all the symptoms of pain, bleeding and bloating that may be related to their location. Thank you so much for this information.

I just learned that I have fibroids. I’ve had the lower back pains. 2. Unbearable cramping before my cycle.3. Irregular cycles and most of all pain in both hips.
Question: Cain fibroids cause pain that radiates to the hips and upper thighs? Sometimes pain feels like sciatica…
I’m the opposite I have little to no bleeding…I just don’t know now….

    • @AskAwayHealth

It’s possible. Pain with fibroids depends on size, location, if they are pressing against organs and nerves. Good to have a chat with your Doc to understand and help with pain relief.

My doctor dismissed my symptoms thinking I was lying until the symptoms increased. My gyno immediately wants to gut me like a fish. Two periods a month, anemia to the point of needing iron infusions, back aches, moodiness because uncomfortable all day and nite, bloat and constipation (doctor diagnosed as IBS)🤦🏽‍♀️ and liver like clots in the toilet. Constant anxiety of worrying if I’m going to have a public accident Period also starts and start throughout the month. Surgery is so back logged but it’s so hard finding good women doctors that will listen. In the meantime, I have to wait for them to catch up on their surgery schedule

New Subbie here! 🙋🏾‍♀️This video was so helpful for my mental health. For a moment I thought I was making excuses or exaggerating my fatigue and moods. I am seriously going through right now. I have a scheduled appointment with my obgyn to begin surgical treatment. Everyday I am wiped out and battling depressed and anxious irritable moods. I have to sometimes take naps before I leave work, just to make it home safely (I also have MS which doesn’t help with the fatigue). I usually eat low carb, but can’t maintain that for anything, so I have experienced some weight gain which makes me feel horrible. So looking forward to getting a hysterectomy in the coming months. Thank you soo much for this video. 💗 🙏🏾

Hi Diana, thanks for watching. You are right that low iron can affect us in different ways.
It depends on how low your levels are - so if you suspect your iron levels are low, get a blood test.
Diet and supplements may be good for minor cases but other treatment if it’s more serious.

My gynecologist says the size of my fibroids should not cause any pain and it left my really confuse coz I was experiencing pain outside my periods, usually after my periods. I experience pain in my lower abdomen, my back and to my knees. I rarely have heavy bleeding. Thank you for your video. But my question is can small fibroids cause such intense pain?

    • @AskAwayHealth
      @AskAwayHealth  2 года назад +1

Hi - thanks for watching my video!
I'm sorry to hear your discomfort with fibroids. It is true that larger fibroids tend to cause more issues but small ones can and do have quite serious impacts too.
The number and location of fibroids is also important in reference to the symptoms they cause.
If the fibroid is located close to pain nerves in your pelvis, no matter how small, it may cause more pain than one would expect. They may also be located close to and putting pressure on other structures in the body causing pain.
Another problem that small fibroids can cause is the challenge of taking them all away at surgery; which may not be as easy as if there is one large fibroid.
I hope you can disuss this further with your doctor and work with them to manage the pain better.
      Best Wishes

but because of the extreme bleeding I must get the hysterectomy I need my life back!

I just wish I wouldn’t have ignored them over the years which lead to the growth.

For two years, I was bleeding everyday. I thought my periods finishing but the blood was going worse. Finally. after three ultrasounds, doctor saw a small fibroid. When I was young, my periods were horrid. In my thirties and forties, not bad because I did a lot exercise. Now, in my 50s to 60. My question is, do other women have long periods every day to months and years?

It's makes me feel heavy and tired all the time causing back pack and pelvic pains everything hurts head to toe physically and mentally. I have an appointment to see what procedures I should get to remove them. It's like 4 or more of them over almost 5 to 6 cm big. I've suffering with it for or 14 years now and they're getting worst every year. I was told they will disappear or shrink as I get older or go into menopause stage. The IUD isn't helping with pain and that's another issue itself, but it helps regulate heavy bleeding. I discussed about my fibroids with my doctor about the fibroids giving me back pains and around my pelvic and groin area she while having an ultrasound she said No it not from the fibroids. In my heart I think it's pressing on my lower back. I took and xray a few month ago and I now have thoracic spine osteophytes I'm not sure if it's from the fibroids that had lead to it. But I'm in constant pain everyday living with it in...thanks for explaining this you really helped me out....

I've been having alot of pelvic pain when i would just walk a short distance since earlier this year. Then it became worse and worse. Ive always had heavy periods i always thought that was normal. Im on birth control in my arm so i hardly get a period. But when i wasnt on anything my periods would last min close to a week and were so painful and heavy. After fighting to have a pelvic ultrasound and mri done. They seen quite a few fibroids good sizes too and a large cyst. Also before this they did a pap and it came back abnormal which i knew it would. After i had the imaging done they didn't do anything for me. They told me my pain and pressure and being constipated like out of no where they said has nothing to do with fibroids that its something else and wanted to put me into physical therapy fur my pain and discomfort. Idk what that's going to do but make me feel worse and waste my time. I denied doing it. Finally going to see obgyn tues after the drs telling me they were waiting for my insurance to cover it. Find out my insurance has been covered it since march. Its just so frustrating. You really have to fight for yourself to get heard and taken care of. Currently past week I've been feeling the pelvic and abdominal pain but more so pressure and sense of fullness. Im not really eating much because i feel so full and bloated. Im praying the dr tues will listen and do what needs to be done. Im 38 and want to feel good again. What makes this all worse is the clinic that gave me the refferalls for the imaging to be done. They acted surprised like oh you had those done we had no record of that...duhh only your drs gave me the refferall lol so I'll be bringing my paperwork with me to my appointment since they don't have any history of it being done...just wild to me

I was diagnosed 6 years ago with fibroids. My symptoms at the time were pain and heavy periods. It would come and go. Usually when the fibroid pain came on it would mean I was getting a period in a few days . I am now 5 months into menopause and the passed two weeks have pain again and bloating again. I am also about 60 to 80 pounds overweight. Is it possible this fibroid is sticking around/ growing due to my weight? I think one of your videos yiu said that fat cells cling to estrogen?

    • @AskAwayHealth
      @AskAwayHealth  Год назад

Hi, thanks for your very interesting question. The development/growth of fibroids is really quite complex. Yes, there is a link with being overweight, oestrogen, diet and other factors but sometimes its not a simple, straight forward yes and no.
As you may know some women with fibroids are quite slim, so there isn't that excess weight link, although we do agree the role of hormones in developing fibroids is present. I would say that weight loss is good for your overall health, but don't equate that with all fibroids disappearing after you slim down. We also know now, that menopause doesn't mean fibroids disappear, too - many women do still persist with them and may need some treatment to address this. If you want to chat further about this, please use the link to my email service - askawayhealth.org/email-service/. Best Wishes

I started to bleed heavy for 2 weeks but little pain. Not sure if it's fibroids since i only have 1 or 2 symptoms. Stomach has gotten bigger overall and it feels hard on the lower half.

My period was coming every two days then it went to non existent for a month are so. Now I have no period and my stomach has just started to swell up and I look as if I am 6 months pregnant. For the las three days I have had pelvic pain… I’ve been sweating and throwing up and I just feel pressure on my stomach. I’m afraid to go to the hospital but it doesn’t look like I’m going to get better. And I’m always sleepy and I have picked up on weight. But don’t know how so quickly when I haven’t been eating as much.

Hi Beautiful, I'm sorry things are in a tough place health wise, but I do think you need to see a doctor who will examine you and work out why things don't feel right for you.
Please do that soon, I wish you the best.

Hi Sandhya, it’s really important to consider different aspects with your doctor - for example:
      What symptoms are you getting
Do you have kids/ planning to have kids
How are the fibroids affecting your day to day activities ...
These are a few things that may affect your decision for which you should have that chat with your doctor so you can make the right decision about whether or not to have surgery.
      Best wishes

What else could be a reason for a stomach to be hard and protruding if it ain't fibroids. I also bloat alot

    • @AskAwayHealth

Sometimes the scan can miss a fibroid - depends on the type of scan (transvaginal v transabdominal); and location of the fibroid.

Is numbness on a leg(right) one of the symptoms of fibroids? I've been experiencing heavy and long bleeding, sometimes even for the whole month. I am in my mid 40s. The bleeding will stop a few days after taking tranexamic acid, and I won't have periods for the next two months because of that med. Then the heavy bleeding will come again. I also have pain in my lower back, just around or above my waistline. Been suffering from this for almost a year but the numbness of my leg just started a few days ago. 😢

Hi @mariayan1923 , sorry to hear about your experience.
I will recommend this is checked out further by your doctor. Numbness can happen from several causes, and while it may be related to the fibroid, you cannot say this with any certainty till you are checked out thoroughly.

Thank you for sharing the info. Most distressing symptom for me is the non-stop heavy bleeding. (ugh) I wonder if the "Standard proceedure" done at the hospital (DNC?) after the loss of a pregnancy at 5-6 months along (to be certain the whole placentia came out) was enough to create scar tissue that now later... in peri-menopause is causing this heavy fibroid issue?

I recently had a pelvic/ Transvaginal ultra sounds. It showed the two fibroids I had are still the same size they were when I was first diagnosed 6 years ago. No bigger So why am I having pain and pressure ? It’s been about three weeks it has been bothering me. I am 5 months post menopausal. Is it possible that the pain and pressure is not going away due to the fact I’m in menopause and there is no release from the pain since I’m not bleeding? My dr said it could be GI like gas but It’s not my stomach. It’s definitely pelvic pain and pressure , not gas . Or could it be? By the way the biggest fibroid I have is about the size of a walnut. I’m also not having any issues like constipation or anything else

Does fibroids move like a baby in the womb?

    • @AskAwayHealth
      @AskAwayHealth  2 года назад +3

Hello, most fibroids that grow inside the womb do not move or turn like babies do.
Some may be attached to the womb by a stalk and may turn slightly around the stalk, and they will change position because they grow bigger.
      Thanks

Hi Setrina, the pattern with Fibroids tends to be heavy, often painful bleeding which can be irregular.
The bleeding may be much longer than usual and there is a shorter time between the last period and the next one.
      Thanks.

      Hello Cynthia,
      Thanks for watching.
Many women can have Fibroids and normal pregnancy. However, a small number can develop complications in pregnancy like miscarriage, yes.
It's best to speak to your doctor/gynaecologist to understand your own specific situation.
