Do Fibroids really shrink with age? Treatment Options After Menopause.

  • Generally, doctors believe that fibroids shrink as women enter Menopause.
    However, today, I want to discuss that this is not a consistent finding.
    So what are the possible reasons why some women have fibroids after menopause and others don't?
    And what are the options for women who struggle with fibroids over the age when they should have disappeared?
    Here's the paper/study I mentioned in the video:

    I'm always amazed when a gynecologist suggests estrogen-lowering medications and only casually mentions side effects. Estrogen is essential for women's health and its decrease can lead to irreparable consequences.

    Dr. Sylvia - thank you for this informative information. I've always struggled with fibroids but keep them at bay with systemic enzymes (Vitalzym), DIM, and of course mostly a plant based healthy diet with clean proteins. Unfortunately due to all the heavy intake of soy, Flaxseed and poor diet, I can always tell when I begin to have issues again with the frequent bathroom runs and back pain. Estrogen levels can and do increase after menopause and this is exactly my situation at 60 years old. You are correct -- the theory that fibroids do not affect us after menopause is false. Thank you for shedding light on this topic. Please continue these tutorials. :)

    Hello Dr, I’ve just had a diagnosis of fibroids ,had an ultrasound two measured 4:5cm diameter. I’m postmenopause. My gynaecologist decided hysterectomy just like that , no real discussion , I was flabbergasted ,I think it’s too drastic ,they are causing pain and bleeding , but surely there are other measures.?

      @@AskAwayHealth Thanks . My question is then should I have a myomectomy ? The possibility of the fibroids growing back , how realistic is that? As one is on my my right ovary . I suspect the ovary will be quite damaged now.

    Hello , could you tell me if fibroids cause vaginal prolapse, I have had the prolapse for many months and all the signs of fibroids, heavy periods clotting, pressure, constipation, recent trans vaginal scan showed many fibroids. Appreciate your response 😃

    • @AskAwayHealth
      @AskAwayHealth  9 месяцев назад

      Hi, a prolapse usually happens due to the weakness of the pelvic floor, that bit of muscle you squeeze if you want to hold your pee midflow.
      They are not usually caused by fibroids, but a fibroid large enough to affect the floor could weaken it.

    What happens if large fibrios dies inside the uterus will they pass out the vagina or it will shrink and fade?

    • @AskAwayHealth
      @AskAwayHealth  Год назад +2

      If a fibroid naturally dies in the womb, the body may absorb the tissue. In some cases when fibroid tissue is dying, there may be vaginal bleeding with pain.

      I've passed some clearly vascularized little buggers that have other visible structures. If I ever regain my energy, I'll make a medical gore video and post it to my channel (these aren't periods, they're shake off the tissues, pass em and wait for the next. This began happening during a cross-country move, and I've been too weak to look for a new doctor and don't know anyone local to ask). Basically just waiting it out and trying to keep my nutrition right, thankfully it seems to be slowing down. Have experienced the plasma thing in between episodes as they grow, die back, grow, die back. Most folks treat, but as I say, it hit me fast and furious during a long distance, interstate move, and I became anemic without ever having know I was iron-deficient. Found that out from old provider who couldn't get a prescription to me in my new location. The struggle is real (I'm 54)

    I just entered menopause this last April So about 5 months My fibroid symptoms were come and go. I never had really severe bleeding only a few times when I was diagnosed. My symptoms are more. Pressure , pain and bloating Im having an episode now , it can feel like a huge rock sitting on my insides . I look pregnant too. Then it goes away. Is it possible when a fibroid digenerates it will cause the same pain? I am overweight so maybe this is why?
