im seeing comments that are like "pffttt REAL mastering engineers do way more but cool".....bro im listening to this and the regular person listening to your music isnt going to give a shit. youre song is either fire or it isnt. this mastering chain right here is good enough for me.
I can't tell you how much ground this video has covered for me personally. I have spent hours upon hours watching videos on how to make a cleaner mix etc and this video with help of these plug ins has produced by far my best mix to date. HONESTLY! Before they were muddy and I was kidding myself into believing they'll do but they never did and I have wasted so much time tweaking plug ins which never made a difference but in fact took me further away from a defined mix. Thank you for your time and effort
Hi, I do'nt know English so much. . But you train so well that I understand all the content of the video easily. Thanks for your thanks. I am an Iranian and there is not much information here . With your help I learned very well the steps of mixing and mastering . thank you❤️🙏
Great moment in time we live in. You can sit in your own home or studio and master a song!! I love what's out here nowadays musically!!! I find that if your already there with your mix, take a break and go right into your master!! Do it yourself!! Then have several people listen and then go from there!!! I find that out of all the plugins I keep going to the same ones!! Let's face it, they work perfectly all the time. I call it a relationship, some plugins make the project sound good and some don't. You have to find the right plugins that work well with each other!! Mastering I thought at one time was real hard. I was wrong. It's very easy if you listen very carefully as your working !! As they say time and time again , use your ears, trust your ears, if it sounds good or great it probely is. If it sounds bad or horrible then start all over again!!
UAD es mejor calidad para mí parecer que Waves. También puede ser un ligero cambio tonal simplemente. Los dos son buenos pluguins. UAD suena increíble y para mí gusto mejor que Waves. Saludos desde España Cádiz
The track I just mixed I thought it couldn't sound any better .. then here I am trying everything you taught me in 5 mins, genius my song sounds 10x better!
I have been mastering now for several years, but I'm not too proud to admit when I learn something new. This is not the type of music I usually master, but boosting the fundamental is a very nice touch, Thanks Sean
That track is so good. And that tubetech is SUCH a good eq. So much flavor.

What I normally do is to copy the original track without any plug-in and bring down the level of the mastered track as low as the original one. Otherwise it's impossible to hear any difference due to the loudness difference. But with same levels you can really start to hear what each plug-in does. Would be nice if you could do the same in upcoming videos. Either way, awesome video! Thanks! :-)
I’ve been producing & mixing since 2003. I’ve been searching videos for years on how this process works. I guess better later than never. 😭🙌🏾 Stumbling onto your channel has changed everything. I haven’t even tried this technique yet but I feel confident this will help me out tremendously. Thanx bro
Hey sean.. i am sathya from india, a indian classical musician.. Thanks for choosing such a lovely track to do this.. loved your working style as well as the lovely track of james.. do let me know how to connect to take your services
The only other thing I would do the would be an enhancement as well before you add the pusher and find out how much you want to use is automation .....making those hooks/drops louder than the other parts of the songs even if its just 2-3db+/- ....that would add the dynamics back in going against what the limiter is doing in a since...I love this video and I learned a lot I'm not critiquing your work flow its just an idea formed from watching this video
Awesome video! One small remark tho - the eqp1a has a range of 18 db for the 12 positions of the knob. So if you boost by 1 on the scale you are actually boosting a bit more than 1 db.
Bro thanks for the mono sidechain compression tip I just so happened to have a mono compressor hooked up that I blended with the ssl comp and wow it was a nice touch
I slept on the IM Pusher until I demo it at 1:30am last night and My GOD! That plugin kicks ass! It's the punchiest plugin I own. It's even punchier than the Weiss mkII from Soft Tube. And for $29 it was a steal. I feel like I'm the Utah Jazz and just drafted Donovan Mitchell as a steal. That's how this plugin makes me feel
@Sean Devine, great video. I am a producer and usually do a pretty tight mix on my beats and then hand them off to get polished. But I've been wanting to learn how to Master not having analog gear and I've viewed a ton of videos over the past 2 weeks and yours by far as been the most direct, clean and very insightful. Cannot wait to try this on some mixes that I am getting ready to send to one of my artists. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm off to check out your other video on Loudness and how to make sure my songs are really polished.
everytime i think im getting good at audio production theres just another huge thing i have yet to learn. ive heard the terms bus compression and new york compression before but never seen them and never really gotten the idea of filling in your mix with your "parallel processing". a compressed sound quietly in the middle of the stereo field sounds like it would help my masters a lot thanks man
Thanks for the vid, It was a tremendous help. Wish the pusher could squash stereo field as well as add. There are a lot of haters of that plugin so i was happy to see how you use it with such great results. Cheers from AZ
You're the GOAT Sean. Saved my mixes and mastering and have been levelling up ever since. Always learn a crazy amount when I touch your channel. Hope your year has been amazing. I'd love to know what you think about my record I finished yesterday with your Mastering tips. Mind if I send it through?

YOUNG AND FREE DOPE!!! NICE waves set-up. Keep blessing us. You have touched a lot of hits. CONGRATS brother!!! Keep the faith. Your bro - ODDMANOUTMUSIC
You definitely should have at least -6 dB of headroom before going to mastering. It will allow the mastering engineer to do multiple levels of gain staging, and they'll be able to get as much juice out of their (hopefully) high-end equipment and into your track as possible.
@@SeanDivine Sure, I'm a new user of waves diamonds (I've upgraded from Gold+Reinessance) and one of the two free plugins that I've taken is Infected Mushroom Pusher after that I've seen your tutorial.
Man I was waiting for this auch a long time! Great video as usual, you are helping me tremendously in my work! Greets and many thanks from Germany and keep up the great grind 💪
Hey man, I used this tutorial to master my entire first project last year. And I’m here again to remember how I did it. Question though, what was the original wav bounced out to? -6db?
Yeah man. I totally appreciate everything you've taught me man.. I am getting better. Just have to keep practicing. I still have an issue with my mixes but they are getting better. I wanted you to listen to the one I just put up on here called True Confessions. It's on my channel. I just uploaded it yesterday. The Puigtec is an absolute monster. I've used it on every mix I've done since I've got it.
May I hear one of your best mixes using the Puigtec, Aiden?
8k push so iimpressive the vocals, for me the best way to push bus vocal a little bit in the mix < 3
Is it on the quality level of UAD version (Pultec Passive EQ)?
UAD es mejor calidad para mí parecer que Waves. También puede ser un ligero cambio tonal simplemente.

I never regretted watching this
Never thought of implementing a compressed mono signal via bus within the stereo mix; I will have to try this out. Super rad tutorial brutha!

sure thing Kaitav, glad to hear it!
That IMPusher plugin is a beast!
yep, love it!
Do you have to do something to turn the IMpusher on everytime i add into the mix it mutes everything
I slept on the IM Pusher until I demo it at 1:30am last night and My GOD! That plugin kicks ass! It's the punchiest plugin I own. It's even punchier than the Weiss mkII from Soft Tube. Still a beast, however I do find it shapes the sound quite noticably, especially the kick. Sometimes it's nice, sometimes it's not so nice.
IMPusher might be my new favorite plug. Gonna cop it for sure for sure
Thank you so much for showing this, I also watched the vocals video too. You get straight to the point, and I understood everything.
Thanks Sean. Good vid. I never heard of the para mono comp. Def gonna give that a try.
Many thanks from Brazil !
