This game was my claim to fame back in the '80s...I completed the whole game with a score of over 1 million several times on a single 10 pence piece...the arcade owner asked me to leave as I wasn't spending enough money and I had a crowd around the machine while I was playing it 🤣...we lived in a seaside resort and the arcade owners used to put up signs saying "No locals allowed" 😮 Don't think they'd get away with that now 😡
I still remember the "wait for me!" lol. This arcade game had a great steering wheel that you used, with two thumb triggers. And I don't give a damn who doesn't like the voices, that was great for the time.
I remember being in arcades in the 80s and playing a video game adjacent to this one. while it was in "standby" mode, it would suddenly start playing the EWOK CELEBRATION that you hear at 20:30. (aka "Yub Nub" by John Williams) gave me the chills every time! Sounds great synthesized like this
Weird that you have to destroy the DS multiple times to see some of the other segments, like actually destroying the shield generator with Han! Guess in this game the empire had multiple death stars.
PLAYED THIS CONSTANTLY IN BLACKPOOL WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, GOT TOP SCORE EVERY TIME, AND A WEE VIDEO SHOP IN GLASGOW HAD THE ARCADE, WON EVERY GAME TOP SCORER!!!
There wouldn't be an Amiga version if it wasn't for the arcade version that it was converted from. Also, the Amiga version gives credit to the "coin-op" version when you load it up.
Although an interesting arcade game in itself, it seemed to have been overshadowed by the Indiana Jones arcade games and it's older brother Star Wars: The Arcade Game.
There were thumb triggers that would turn the AT-ST's head left and right but you didn't seem to need them - This game was really hard - the controls and feel were absolutely horrendous.
Game with sound starts @0.44. I was a bit of a twat when I was a little kid and used to steal money of my parents to go play this in Huddersfield in an arcade at the side of a gun shop down the bottom of town.,
1:22. I found out that 3PO's *supposed* to be saying, "We are now a part of the tribe", but because of the voice clarity, the enunciation on the "r" isn't very good, so to me, it sounds like he's saying "tibe".
Man I remember spending a lot of time around 1987at the local Pamida playing this. I know I made it to at least the level shown here because I remember the additional challenges - wish I could remember what my highest score was.
So I'm wondering anyone out there is a expert in the game and can answer a question -- several sites when talking about this game, such as KLOV, mention the game DOES have a ending, if you finish Wave 8, with Yoda giving you a message and a symbol next to your name on the high score table. Can anyone confirm or deny?
It's true... if you finish level 8, the game is cleared and you get a 100.000 point Jedi Knight Bonus. I've seen a couple vids on YT with an all-clear of ROTJ.
Just bloody hard to control.... The throttle way too sensitive, amd just blind luck to not career into some random tree/ship/upright tube etc... I liked it first time around, but a bit clunky, on reflection.
Alright team we have to land on Endor, destroy the shield generator and then get into the Death Star and destroy the reactor...not necessarily in that order ...I know it’s a 4 year old post but hey lol
Used to regularly clock this game over a million .. there is a cheat/hack/bug on the speeder bike section , u would push the yoke hard forward and right before luke gets on the speeder , then once the bike moved you'd snap the yoke back and right and the speeder would go into the grass verge on the right and avoid all the trees and obstacles .. not sure its possible to do on mame as I've tried and couldn't do it
It works, but with a different method from what you described. I saw a video where the guy goes in big circular motions and eventually the speeder goes out of bounds. Then it's Jumping *Peppers* time.
@@happycamper90596 On Mame I used it for save state practice. I just did the achievement set on retroarcade with the FBNeo Core and was also able to replicate it on that. I will say Playing the game on Mame the movement feels more floaty while on FBNeo it was tighter.

Lol yet the movie its I see them, wait leia!!!!
The voices remind me of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, arcade cabinet. I loved that game and this. Classic arcade sounds and graphics.
The sound was half of the whole attraction to the game.

Some of those Very Voices were lifted Electronically, by Permission, from The Original Film
Probably the hardest arcade game i can remember
Dragons Lair was Harder ! Used to cost Me 1 pound for 3 goes ! Used to last about 20 seconds! £1 was a lot of money 💰 in the 80’s
Oh yes absolutely, great game too and yes mega difficult.@@lucaschapman2188
@@AlanAttack This is great banter.
1:22 "Wonderful, we are now papa hepatitis"-C-3PO
I can't believe he came out and said that completely unprompted.

Instead of watching the movie RETURN OF THE JEDI, I'll just watch this RUclips clip about 3x before I go see the new movie. That's all I need!
why does he keep shooting?
Although an interesting arcade game in itself, it seemed to have been overshadowed by the Indiana Jones arcade games and it's older brother Star Wars: The Arcade Game.
I was very good at this game back in the day.
The voices all sound like they were recorded underwater. "Buh sheld uhs duwn! Cubense dutabk bon du Debh Srar's bain beractur!"
+TheIdiot dude, you ROCK for transcribing that!!!
Hahaha
This arcade game is available at cidercade in Austin, Tx as of May 31 2022
MAAAAAN I LOVVVVVVED THIS GAME, I PLAYED IT CONSTANTLY IN BLACKPOOL ON THE 80S&90S MAKES ME WISH MY FLAT WAS BIGGER SO I COULD BUY THE ARCADE!!!
This is a Really Tough Game to Beat
Lando Calrissian, Here Goes Nothing!
All of the voices sound like Stephen Hawking versions of the Star Wars characters! xD
I used to play this with the dexterity of Stephen Hawking

Yes, because of the over Modulation of the audio
@@robertthomas5736 Interesting. Thanks for clarifying.
I always played this game when I was a kid. Never could get past level two.
So the game keeps repeating forever until you lose?
Gameshowboy 92 Most arcade games during this period were like that.
No it had 8 levels
