STAR WARS TRILOGY ARCADE - COMPLETE PLAYTHROUGH

- I posted this video to bring all of you, a little bit of joy and nostalgia, during this sad era of boring and downright bad Star Wars movie sequels, mediocre video games, and TV shows, (except the Mandalorian of course which is good but not great...not yet but it tries hard), in order to help us remember that there was a time not too long ago, when developers took good care of our iconic movie franchise. They threw everything that was great about it, into their video games. It also shows that, what still works even today, is that this game portrays and lets you play through all the iconic scenes from the old trilogy. Its still a short but fun and thrilling roller coaster ride from beginning to end. This is still one of my favorite arcade of all time to this day, along with Star wars Atari 1983. Sadly this game was never ported to any console or PC. So the only way to play this today is through emulation. So here it is enjoy ! - Star wars trilogy arcade almost perfectly emulated on supermodel3 version r614 (with some minor sound issues unfortunately). Again this is an «almost» perfect playthrough of the game, on easy with twin triggers enabled, running with the new3dengine = 1 option manually entered in the .ini file, so you now see the Endor moon in space on the death star II level at the end. Enjoy !
This is what a game is supposed to be.
I miss this game, so.. Freakin much, dude. No star wars arcade game has SURPASSED this, nor on the consoles, to a degree. It is criminal that you can hardly FIND this anywhere. Not anywhere anymore. Its enough to feel home-sickness..
I was at a party at an arcade and got a chance to play this on freeplay. It was one of the greatest video game experiences I've ever had.
And then Star Wars Squadrons came out and everyone started pinballing
I had a similar experience man. Legit felt like I destroyed the Death Star
I was really good at this game. Literal crowds would form around me playing this at arcades at malls, Six Flags and casinos
That’s beautiful, that’s a core experience.

I still think this game looks gorgeous. Over 20 years old and still looks and sounds great.
This is upscaled, but it does still hold up, even in native resolution
That frame rate in arcade was just 💦
Look at the hands you id1ot
As a teenager, I played this game in an arcade in Gatlinburg, TN. I just kept feeding tokens into it. When I was finally done, I got up out of the seat and turned around to find that twenty some-odd people had gathered to watch. It was pretty neat.
They were probably all just waiting their turn.
Steve McCord nah they were blown away by your skill
Dude same thing happened to me they kinda were sad I had to leave!
For a night, you were a king.
Twitch before twitch lol
This deserved to be on the DREAMCAST 🌀
definitely what I thought at the time as well ! Cheers

This took so much of my money at college back in the day. By the end I could almost beat it with my eyes closed. Years later I found one in London and was all like "watch and learn, kiddies" ...it owned me. I guess I'd lost my touch.
When you were younger, you had good eyesight and great reflexes. But, you get older, you lose all of that. I have.
@@PoeLemic i learned that the hard way when i bragged about being able to beat anyone at star wars episode 1 racer. it was like the game was going in double speed. i realized i had the reflexes of a methed up jedi when i was a child.
Your lack of faith is disturbing
Flipped vertical axis but traditional horizontal axis and only 1 try for those parts made the game sure I failed the lightsaber sections.
OTOH when it came to time crisis, I could play that and talk/drink a soda at the same time. Fun times when you master an arcade game
Hahaha he said it owned me. I use to crush this game back in the day.
This game's graphics always blew me away when seeing it at an arcade.
Didn't the guy here just mention this was never released?
@@jizzahm Not on home-systems, but they were in arcade machines in the late 90's here in the UK.

Childhood memories. The textbook definition of a perfect game.
I gotta say, it captured the feel of the original Star Wars trilogy.
I dont know about you guys, but I loved the way the joystick for this game felt. The resistance it gave combined with things like the lightsaber battle and vibration feed back it gave you, as a kid it really did feel like a lightsaber.

Putting it more into perspective, you appreciate it more when you recall the fact that this game dropped right when "Episode I" was to drop the next year.
Fantastic game. Remember playing this in the early 2000's. Such an addictive game. With the Hoth levels being the highlight for me.
21:03 The fact that you made it that far through the final stretch before the Death Star interior on 2% shields is seriously impressive, props
At least the shields were better than the original Star Wars arcade game that lost 10% for each hit.
I love the way this game looks and plays. It's fast and colorful just like other 3D arcade games such as this one
I remember playing this at an arcade in Disney Hollywood Studios as a kid. Man, what I wouldn’t give to see this ported digitally to current consoles. Good memories.
Too bad Sega lost the rights to Star Wars, at that time, Sega was the one that had rights to the franchise, along with Lucas Arts itself.
This was the best remake/update of the Star Wars Arcade game ever made.
Memories of playing this as a kid at the arcade. Loved the joystick and the huge screen. Pure nostalgia
4/5 of every Star Wars adventure you ever wanted to experience, in a half-hour synopsis.
The large arcade cabinet with a projection screen and subwoofers was my favorite, It's a shame most old arcades are thrown out and not repaired
Man this brought so much memories Darth Vader gave me a hard time
Most of the time I ended up in draws.
@raider blue giggity lol :)
I only beat him once, don't ask me how, even then I didn't understand how, lol!
@HandyMan101 if Vader gives you a hard-on you have bigger problems than trying to beat him
In all the years I played this at the arcade I only managed to beat him once on my 13 birthday.
Such a fun game. They had it at my local movie theater. As a kid, I could never finish the first 3 missions before it was time to go. Or I ran out of quarters. I didn't even know there was a 4th mission!
Everyone saying they played this game at their local movie theater but I remember this would always be the first game I played when I went to Chuck E. Cheese's
If you don't mind me asking, where was this Chuck E. Cheese's when you were a kid?

I played it at the Chuck E. Cheese in Ventura right off the 101
@@allenwalker5208 I know exactly which one you are referring. On sisk, right?
They had this as an arcade game on the cross channel ferried between Dover and Calais where I used to work back in the late 90s. We used to work 15 days of a month at sea and it turned out that if you could prove you were out of the country a couple more times a month, then you could claim all your income tax back at the end of the tax year. So I'd take a day trip to Calais twice a month (on top of my working days), buy a chocolate bar in the port and keep the receipt. And on the journey back and forth, I played this arcade game. Constantly. (didn't need to see the rest of the ship as I worked on it!) I remember that it cost £1 per life and I ended up being able to complete it, after lots and lots of practice, in £2. Still the best Star Wars game imo.
Wow! The graphics still look good more than 25 years later!
Man, remember when Star Wars games used to be fun?
Captain_Corncobb where they fun at all?
only force unleashed, republic commando and battlefront worth
Neutral Peace oh rogue squadron and super Star Wars stressed me out
In regards to number one, that's some zen shit right there. Shoving another rocket launcher into your rocket launcher to reload it.
@@moxie9695 unfortunately i didnt play super star wars but I had the rogue on n64 and it sucked compared to ace combat 3 for example in playstation. in gamecube though there were 2 awesome games called 'rogue squadron'
This holds up astonishingly well. I remember this being my favorite arcade game as a teenager.
The force was strong with me when I played this in a bowling ally in NH.
Dennis Barber Only if you refused to bowl altogether that nite! If not, then I find your lack of faith disturbing.
Man… I remember this arcade cabinet. I played it so often that I was able to beat all 3 campaigns with all perfect lightsaber duels with one credit. My initials were on the leaderboard in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland for a good while… until they closed that area for good…😢
Incredible movement smothness, something happens to the new era games. A great relation speed-action, awesome.
one of the best arcades ever
An arcade game I would instantly jump to in Chuck E. Cheese.
The bass on the sitting cabinet made this game that much better.
Yeah, that cabinet was by far the best. It felt like you were sitting in the cockpit and the screen was bigger than the stand up cabinet.
I remember this game! So many coins spent beating it, again and again.
my little league team used to occasionally go to this place called Palace Park that used to be in Irvine CA, it had a bunch of batting cages but also mini golf and an arcade. Getting to play this game was always the highlight of the trip.
I can feel the quarters being force-vacuumed out of my pockets at the cinema.
Kris Anticknap as if a million quarters cried out in terror and suddenly silence
The force feedback on the stick in this arcade game was insane. Especially during the lightsaber duels, you can feel it fight you.
Exactly !
you're all clear kid, now lets blow that thing & go home
Wolfe Addams every time I hear that I can’t help but get emotional. The Death Star trench run is a perfect cinema.
I still can't believe he referred to that transexual alien in the Cantina as a "thing". It had feelings, you know!
'Would you please concentrate all of your firepower on that 'Superstar' destroyer..."
I’m sorry but at 4:29 the millennium falcon sweeps into the trench. In the original movie, the MF was too big for the trench and did not dive inside of it. The scale of this video game seems to have been violated
@@Defender78 it's an arcade game from 1998 give it a break.
Sitting in the seat in the deluxe version of this cabinet with the speakers nice and loud in your ears was the best. I think I'm going to shell out the couple grand for one of these used.
It has been YEARS since I used to play this in the arcades. I had this game (Jedi) mastered to where I could complete the game on 1 credit, following a strict pattern where I knew exactly which enemies would appear and where, giving me the ability to pop off a perfect kill shot or deliver the uninterrupted series of multiple shots that gave the bonus (indicated by the x1/x2/x3/x4/etc) for a near-perfect 100% shooting accuracy. I even managed to get perfect sync in waiting to ignite my lightsaber with Vader's when he ignited his (the duel level).
I took out almost every foot soldier, enemy fighter, tower turret cannon, Star Destroyer generator/cannon, AT-AT & AT-ST walker, Wampa, etc. My strict pattern would not allow for even one missed target (wherever possible - some targets were too many and required too many shots before exiting the screen) - otherwise, if I missed any "easy hits", the remainder of the game would be a wash for me (accurate shots would fail to be very accurate). Failure was not an option. ;-)
It was like I was in perfect harmony with the Force or something, lol.
I miss that game so much. It is great seeing it again!
I hope one day to PLAY it again, and see how accurate I still am after 20+ years in "retirement"!!
Thanks so much for sharing this!!
The game is easier to score on original hardware, with a mouse or joystick its way harder, which is what i used for this video. I hope i'll reply on original hardware one day or if we,re lucky Arcade1up who knows !!
an epic moment in our gaming cinema lifes:) thx
I remember the hoth mission always being my go to level back when I was a kid. Something about flying around trying to save the rebels from the aproaching stormtroopers was so addicting to me. I miss these days where our local mall had a huge arcade. now its like some kiddie play pen area.
I still remember the day me and my dad passed the Death Star level together in an old arcade at a local movie theater.
A wonderful designed game, you played great
Unreal. I never thought I would see this again. Played this over and over - ironically at a Disney resort - back when I was a kid.
This was pretty much the only game I played at arcades. I was *_obsessed_* with this game, and thanks to Supermodel, I can play it whenever I want!
I use to play this at my local Dave and Busters every time my family went there and I'll never forget the day I spent most of my tokens to beat the game but it was well worth it. Still my favorite arcade game of all time
Wow. I remember loving the heck out of this when I was little at Chuckie Cheese ~ and took good advantage of when they changed all their games to the cost of a single token [25 cent equivalent].
As the years went by I saw the aging graphics of the on-foot levels, but not that of the spaceship ones. I remember studying the imagery in detail, thinking it was picture-perfect and wondering how they could have achieved that. And now, I see the graphics for the level they really are.
I'm just surprised, I mean I remember really studying some of these scenes closely. :) I guess it all really is just based off of what you normally are familiar with.
Thank you for sharing this! I only ever beat Darth Vader once, haha, I remember being so happy.
I was sitting here thinking the same thing. I remember playing this at our hotel's arcade room in Disney World when we would have a pool day. I was blown away by it and wished I could play it at home. I thought that it was so damn realistic looking and now I see this video and oh man it did not hold up well. I mean it isn't awful or anything, but damn.
@@wannekapeak1375 Exactly! In all honesty the on-foot levels are more accurate as to how I recall them, with some additional lacking texture detail [Could also be missing some anti-aliasing the original machine performed, perhaps] but with the space levels, I'm just so surprised. I guess it really shows just how much our perspectives can change just how we percieve something. :)
If you want to see some absolutely gorgeous gameplay though, I would recommend looking up some footage of EA's Star Wars: Battlefront II. Hate EA, but DICE really did a terriffic job.
@@wannekapeak1375 that was in 1998, thats 20 years ago it was great at the time, most graphics from any game will never age well, but the gameplay still holds up today in my opinion, just imagine remaking this game with Battlefront 2 graphics ... that would be awesome.
I have the same exact memories. Chuck E. Cheese but I never was able to beat Vader. Got to him once but got owned.
ahums16 I was trying to remember this same game. Me and you basically share the same memory. I only ever made it to Hoth and that’s it.

Great shot, kid! That was one in a million!
I ran into this game at a hotel in Stevens Point, WI in my childhood. Such good memories...
Man, This game was so FUN!! I wish they'd made a home version for consoles.
Man as a little kid I thought this was the best thing ever. My mom used to take me to the mall to play it every weekend almost.. I miss that arcade so bad. They closed it when I must have been 8 or 9 in 2002 or 2003
The nostalgia!! 2 time a month my dad would take me to Peter piper pizza in Las Vegas circa 1999 when I was a kid, this was the only thing I wanted to play! Thanks for uploading my friend. May the force be with you
Being able to complete this on a single credit was probably the greatest achievement of my time at university. Definitely the best arcade game ever. I remember a crowd of people watching me complete it on a cross channel ferry. My girlfriend at the time wasn't as impressed :-(
1 credit equaled 1 dollar when I used to play it. I got good enough to run through the entire game on one credit as well. Fun.
Terminator 2 and this Star Wars trilogy game were my childhood. If I couldve take these arcade games home, I wouldve
Agreed, both are my favorites too !
Those graphics were ahead of their time. Still looks lovely and butter smooth
This has ALWAYS been my favorite arcade game!! Everything about it was good!
This game was legendary, one of the best arcade games of all time, as a young Star Wars obsessed kid this was my favorite booth to see in an arcade. Kids would gather around to watch each other play. I remember how hard it was to target with that spring-loaded joystick constantly pulling itself away from where you wanted it. But not frustrating, just incredibly fun and the perfect blend of difficulty. Wonder how many tokens I donated to this machine over the years...
Peter Piper Pizza made so much money off of me when I worked next door. I owned the top 10 high scores! lol
You rapid firing through Echo base brought back so many memories.
Wampa at the end of the Hoth stage: "I just wanted you to take me with youuuu!!!!"
I loved playing this in the arcade! Especially when you are going down the Death Star trench. That moment when you heard use the force and the two big red buttons lit up, good times. We used to go to the same place every year on holiday. The big arcade over the pier had this game. Every time I went I got further and further. I used to have £10 to last me the whole arcade so I only ever used a couple of quid in this machine. I remember I few people behind me watching me when I completed it. I was so happy but I still couldn't wait to play it again. The year after when we went the machine was gone. I was sad it wasn't there but I was glad to have spent time playing it.
Ya dude our theatre had an arcade area and this and time crisis 3 were the only games i played before a movie started but when i heard they took it down to put a alcohol area i was pissed lol, good ol days man!!
God I got a headache from that long comment 😖
Totally did the exact same thing on holiday.
Just watching this I can FEEL the struggle of getting that arcade joystick to aim exactly where I wanted it to.
The struggle was real
I always wondered if it was poor calibration by the cabinet owners, or artificially difficult design by the programmers. These things had gnarly dead zones.
Yet still played it, loved it, and learned to make it work for me.
I think they made it hard to aim on purpose.
@@JPdelaGhetto it's there to suck your money away
And whe you managed to aim right shooting fast cause it never had an auto fire if you held the trigger so you get cramp and RSI on the shooting parts
This is about the most beautiful game emulation I have ever seen. Outstanding job
I never saw this game... if I did, I would be crazy playing this!
My local movie theater had this in the early 2000’s, I played it all the time. The visuals, sound and vocal effects are good even today.
I beat this game in the arcade. it took $34, i had to have people help run singles to get more quarters for me. had a standing ovation when i finally beat it. Realisticly it was probably 7 dudes more happy that they could now play then on me beating it. either way, felt epic... wish they didnt cancel this port for the dreamcast
I remember this one machine in a Gameroom being so goddamn loud that I was almost too scared to play it when I was a kid. The TIE fighters were especially frightening.
This game still remains as one of the most realistic original trilogy experiences ever. The amount of details and sounds made the immersion so insanely good. The Battle of Endor stage is pure glory.
I Totally agree !
I remember this arcade cabinet being at my local Wal-Mart of all places. The framerate was amazing for the time and it holds up well.
Omg I remember playing this in....the late 90s.... in the mall arcade next to our local cinema, right before seeing The Empire Strikes Back special edition

11:44 Endor mission shield generator
16:01 Duel with Darth Vader
17:44 Endor mission destroy the Death Star

i love this game
Te veo en todos lados jajaja
It's probably my nostalgia talking but this is probably one of the best arcade games to come out and one of the best Star Wars games as well. The actual cabinets came in a variety of sizes and builds but the best version was always the one where you sat on a cockpit seat with loud speakers, a huge CRT monitor and joysticks with vibration and locking mechanisms. It really made the whole experience immersive. All the sound effects during the on rails sections and the lightsaber mini games actually making your joystick feel like you're deflecting blaster bolts or locking lightsabers with Darth Vader (16:56 the part where you have to block Vader's downward slash in particular felt really good to block.)--it truly is a blast to play and I insist if anyone manages to come across the arcade cabinet to play it. I spent who knows how much money or hours playing this arcade game in my youth and even now I still haven't had my fill.
Roughly this time 20 yrs ago, I discovered this gem of an arcade game! I was on vacation and it was one of the games at the hotel me and my parents were staying at.
I discovered the game in my hometown roughly a yr later. It was at one of the movie theaters and at the arcade at Walmart. I played them every chance I could. After 2004, I never saw them again.
If I ever get the chance to buy one, I'm getting one!
This is the best SW game ever. It was exactly what I wanted; classic scenes that I could finally be a part of. No new planets or tons of ships to choose from or some convoluted storyline. Just the experience of being in the movie.
This was THE arcade game that I was hoping would come out on Wii with an arcade-stick remote holder! >:(
AGREED
Wow, its funny...I had a SNES, but starting with PS1, I generally had Sony consoles, while my friends had Nintendos--point being, I never owned a Wii, but I played it a bunch. After the initial thrill of playing "Wii Sports", it seemed like they mostly used the motion as a gimmick, or to prop up very minimalist, simple, boring games, and I remember thinking the whole thing had been a mistake and they should've just focused on making a new 'regular controller' console. What I never considered, though, is that they could've used what they'd built to either adapt for home console, OR commission sequels etc to the countless classic arcade games out there--"Star Wars Arcade" just being one among countless greats. I mean, "House of the Dead Wii", anybody? Shit. Wasted opportunity.
If you flew for the Rebellion they never would have penetrated Hoth Base.
Echo Base. Lol! Yup...brilliant flying!
You know its on rail right? You dont control flying only the shooting.
Despite his shooting 94% of the available targets they still destroyed the generators and breached the doors.
Well those walkers and probe droids were easy, but those massive AT-AT walkers just can't be fully stopped. You only take out like 2 in the entire battle.
Hell of a pilot
An era before the dark times, befor the EAmpire.
this game is my pre teen years. the local skating ring me and my friends went to every friday had this arcade machine. i would always ask my parents for 5 bucks to “grab a bite to eat”, but in reality this machine gobbled up all 5 bucks every week until i became a god at it and was able to beat all the missions and bonus levels with a few trys. i even had the top score and last time i went to the the skating for our school’s senior celebration my score was still there standing unattested by a huge point margin. seeing this was such a good dose of nostalgia.
The force is strong with you young (old) Shon
I just bought a refurbished Nintendo GameCube for the sole purpose of playing the three Rogue Squadron games. The closest you can get to this. Honestly, those games (especially II and III) still stand up today. And on a 65" 4k screen it's really amazing.
Agreed
I remember playing the trench run in Rogue Squadron back in the day and it was nothing like how it was, even compared to this. You flew down the trench, but then you had to make 90 degree turns every so often, which defeats the whole purpose of the trench running the equator, then the guns never stopped shooting... and it was just a mess. At least this got the right idea.
Also, the Hoth run: "That armor's too strong for blasters!" *blows up the AT-AT cockpits anyway*
