I remember this game.. my arcade got this one a little late.. 1989.. albatross was the second video game crush I had (the first being solid snake),, that side art had me in love (mostly games at my arcade were jam packed so you couldn't see the side art,, but this one was at the end).. he looks like the guy from space harrier haha..
Looks like a Scooby Doo cartoon, villains wearing weird hooded masks, the way they walk, the color throughout. Awesome. Pretty sure the animation of the characters was worked out with drawings and then digitized into computer graphics judging by the complexity of the poses, acting and staging.
Yes! I loved this game! My pals and me used to act like the characters when we were playing outside (of course we were kids). There was also this silly legend inside the arcade store that the main character was actually *Lupin*, but a bit 'changed' for lack of copyrights. ...now, if you excuse me, I have to spend the next 25 minutes swimming in my nostalgia. -BETMARK-

***** When we were kids we just saw a skinny guy with a gun who was shooting bad people and that was pretty much the first version of Lupin the 3rd. We didn't even know this one was a secret agent (also the girl to rescue could be *Fujiko* or one of the random girls he was in love).
Love the look on Albatross's face at the end. Just killed 1000's of men and some green alien man to rescue the girl, but still has a look of "It's over. Go home. I'm bored now."
The story of a man in a bright red ascot shooting the crap out of the most colorful evil henchmen 16 bits could output. A survivor, upon seeing the carnage, would quietly retreat to a idyllic island and adopt the name Plok.
Albatross saves Leila here, and in the sequel they both work together. Part 3 took place same time as part 2, so some jabroni named Jay went after the bad guys in a decent second sequel.

My mom actually got this particular arcade cabinet from the hotel she used to work at to the apartment she used to live in. So, I have fond memories of playing this game as a kid -- hard as hell, though.
It's using the existing character animations to give a Seig Heil style salute (but conveniently closed fist so as not to get the game banned in Germany!)
@@VinylSamuraisMusic Lol! Now would be very cool. Have great day CrabJab! PS: Just a Correction; The game's name is 'My Friend Pedro', not 'My Name is Pedro'.

@@luisreyes1963 Namco did eventually release a Lupin the Third game on the Famicom in 1987, and it was pretty similar to Rolling Thunder, albeit with more exploration and the ability to switch between Lupin, Jigen, and Goemon.
Anyone familiar with the SunA(?) knockoff of this, "Rough Ranger"? Many Americans played "count the gay stereotypes" regarding the cabinet and game artwork.
I bet originally it was programed to be a Lupin The Third game, the graphic and animations are 100% Lupin style and the sequel have a female character very alike to Mina Fujiko the partner/rival of Lupin.
I still remember the game over music and Maboo’s evil laugh used to scare the crap out of me when I was little. I used to watch my sister and my dad play this and Galaga 88 all the time because at the time both games were too hard for me (I was around 5-6 years old at the time)
This looks and feels a lot like the arcade version of Sly Spy, an old Data East game. I wonder if there's any relation? Even the main characters jump looks the same...

No, child. Dabbing wasn't a thing. The only people that care about "dabs" are children and man-children. The same goes for t-bagging. They's both childish. Grow up.
That's because Wrath of the Black Manta was horrible attempt @ copying Shinobi, which plays similarly to Rolling Thunder. Shurikens instead of bullets..

To think I spent my entire childhood deprived of that synth steel drum action at the end because this game was too hard in the arcades.
Loved this game as a kid. Great game and great player
Man.. I've been trying to remember the name of this awesome game for years. Finally found it.
I just remembered it today
My Arcade NAMCO MUSEUM mini cabinet has the original arcade version game on it. It's on PS2 as well, I think on the NAMCO MUSEUM disc.

BETMARKonTube Lupin? That's weird. I guess it's because of the player's red shirt, though Lupin's a thief, not a secret agent.
