Have you tried the manual transmission version of this CX-5? I have it and I love it. The shifting and clutch are really enjoyable to operate. It may seem strange to have a manual in a CUV, but the CX-5 not only handles like a smaller car in terms of suspension, it is also virtually the same weight as a mazda 6. The downside is you can only get the manual with the 2.0 liter engine, but the manual helps you draw the maximum power from that smaller engine, so for my money it's better, more fun, and probably faster than the 2.0 automatic.
I test drove a cx-5 today that was a twin to the car in the review. I have to say it drives very nice but I was wondering if anyone has drove this and compared it to the VW Tiguan. I wanted to do a test drive of one of those today at the auto show but VW didn't have a test drive today sadly.
I have driven both. The Tiguan is alright, feels quicker because of the turbo, but again, its German... and German cars are notorious for maintenance. I would take the Mazda, the VW interiors are also lacking. I am considering trading my RDX Turbo for a CX-5 for better MPG!
