Dude the front seats do not need to be slid up in order the fold the rear seats down. It's called removing the rear seat headrests. Trust me I keep my drivers seat pretty far back and I never move it, rear seats folded or no.
To respond to your comparison to the 6 sedan. I used to have a 2004 mazda3 hatchback which I loved but over 10 years I found where I live that I needed something with more robust suspension and a bit more ground clearance. So basically I just wanted a beefier version of the mazda3 hatchback and that's pretty much what the CX-5 is. I'm kind of tall and after 10 years of riding low and small, it feels good to be a bit higher with more room to stretch out. That said the new 6 looks like a great car as well.
honestly speaking its got masssive boot space...having said that I agree the Infotainment system is small but nowadays you get plug and play displays, after market displays with android and apple car play,. Mazda CX5 is amazing. drive it you wont regret it !!
Good review overall, except...a couple things. Your complaint of screen being too small is a lil lame. What do you want a 32"?!....lol it's proportional to dash & big enough to be user friendly imo. Big upside for 'compact' or any crossover, that you missed, over a sedan like Mazda 6, is the ergonomic hight! For a dude that is 6-7 like me, not having to crawl out from ground level is a huge plus & more than worth not fitting 3 sets of clubs in the back. I LOVE EVERYTHING about my cx-5!
One thing you completely miss as a huge advantage to the CX-5 (or any cross over) is the ergonomics. You look to be an average hight/size guy, so I'll cut you slack. As a 6-7 265lbd guy I can tell ya the CX-5 hands down stomps the 6. The height is perfect & unlike sedans I'm not having to "crawl in & out". And the head & shoulder cabin space is better. Not sure what your set of clubs are like, but unless you're carting around a bag like dangerfield in Caddy Shack, there's no problem with getting 3 sets in.....lol Love my CX-5!!
Dam 6'7 265 lbs... that says a lot about this little crossover. I'm 6' 215 lbs myself and have more than enough room in mine. Seats me comfortable too.I bought a 2014 gt awd model a month ago and loving every minute of it too. Congrats on your new cx-5 man.
I live in Europe..and just about everyone would tell you to take the 2.2 Diesel either with the 150 hp or 175 hp definitely more than enough torque and fantastic fuel milage!
The comparison with the sedan makes sense with gas mileage, price, and drivablity, but I'm wondering how does it compare with drive height and durability on rougher roads ?
This guy says this is too small? I'd rather have a smaller version with AWD. I have to deal with long winters in an urban environment. If this is too small, Mazda still makes the CX9. My wife has the 2.0L version and it is underpowered but otherwise is great. I am in the market for a smaller version. Juke is probably what I'll get because it is a blast to drive and it's only competetor is the Chev Trax which is again, underpowered. I wish I had more options but I'm glad they make the Juke
There's a point you're overlooking, I love the 6 but if I was to buy a new car I would seriously consider the CX-5 just because it wont be a problem with potholes, bumps and bad roads where I live, also if you load up the 6 with people it gets even lower to the ground... ground clearance is a big reason people buy SUVs or crossovers
The Qashqai is built on the same platform as the new (2014) Nissan Rogue, but is otherwise a pretty different vehicle. I don't think there's a good example in the US.
The screen is to small but besides that this and the 6 are very solid options. If the screen is the only thing holding you back, you might want to reconsider. Thanks so much for watching. Alex
I disgree with your comparison of this car and the mazda 6. And actually the cargo room is one of the biggest but, slightly smaller than the rav4 and crv. Why don't you co-host evrrymandriver anymore?
Don't get the CX9, it has horrible gas mileage. Ergonomics of it is below average also. We replaced the CX9 with Honda Pilot and it was the best move we've made.
The reason Americans like crossovers is because they dislike hatchbacks. Dumbest thing ever really. My fiancé has a 2013 Elantra GT. 29mpg city average for us, did very well in the record snow in Illinois this year, and 53cuft of storage. That's the same as the KIA Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Cherokee, and almost the same as the Mazda CX-5. The difference is that it cost us $19,300. It came with alloy wheels, fog lights, roof rack with crossbars, cargo cover, Bluetooth, etc.
Ok review ! Dun compare this wid any car some people don't shop for cargo space this crossover is for young couple and family's anyways no offence not a bad review
Crossover vs. Sedan remarks were very much appreciated.

Yes! Alex is back! Just found this. Nice to see you doing reviews again.
You got me! Glad to have you onboard. Alex
HI Stere0guy. Glad you found me! See you on the road. Alex
Alex thought that other dude left you somewhere on the side of the road. Nice review.
You answered all of my questions before I head to the dealer to purchase for my teen, this might be the car
Hi David. I did not have issues with it. Didn't notice it one way or the other. See you on the road. Alex

depends if the driver and passenger are under 6' I can't see why they won't fit. but the two of them in the back is pretty much maxing it out.

Loved the review
Alex.. any problems with the trans? I've heard that the transmission feels like it doesn't want to shift like it should....

sorry which model did you test, touring or grand touring? thanks
How come this mazda cx 5 is not selling well despite the good reviews?
The question is when will the 2015 Mazda CX-5 come out?
Mazda stopped making the CX7 in 2012.
Still have this car
hi...does it have push button start?
haha yeah I realized that afterword! Probably not the best wardrobe choice. Thanks so much for watching. Alex
I'm not sure what the qashqai is. Do you know what it's called in America? Thanks for watching. Alex
what makes cx5 better than nissan qashqai? or qashqai is better. please give me your advise. thanks
Can we see more of the actual vehicle and not you. We can still here you talk while you show the vehicle.
Too much face time not enough vehicle view. Amateur wannabe utube star.

you don't work with dave on everyman driver channel anymore?

It is not appropriate to compare the 6 to the CX5. This was an ok review, however, you need to stay on par with the vehicle line up.

I thought they discontinued the CX-7.
This is the CX-5....
trainzandtrombones He said mazda makes great suvs and listed the cx7
yay! i found Mr. Alex ! :-)
Stylish Vehicle! Very Popular here in Australia!
Hi cgillardGQ. The CX-7 is no longer on the market, just the CX-9. Thanks so much for watching and please share! Alex
Don't get the CX9, it has horrible gas mileage. Ergonomics of it is below average also. We replaced the CX9 with Honda Pilot and it was the best move we've made.
not to mention, Ford and Mazda have since parted ways.
Does santa fe better than cx-5?
Both are class leaders. I think personal preference reigns supreme on this one. Thanks so much for watching. Alex
this guy was working to everyman driver
Even 6AT VS CVT is Mazda's advantage.
Yoo this is our exact car
i love the mazda he says but the shirt says ill go with ford instead
Qashqai in America is the Nissan Rogue.

It's Nissan Rogue
is that 2 cup holders in engine.
But overall good review

he could have just sit in his office and talk about the car, whatever car. we don't get to see the car anyway.
lol the screen size is "too small and seems out of place" That's what she said !!! I could see you struggling to hold back a joke right there !!
It's OK.. Ford owns a portion of Mazda.. :)
that screen is way too small and for that reason I will NOT buy!!
A little uncomfortable the way you talk... Don't know why....
