I bought a 2015 for my wife in 2018. Since then I've never had any of these issues stated. All that's been done is general interval maintenance i.e. brakes, spark plugs oil changes etc. No service lights, no weird noises. She love's this car!

2015 model month after purchase check engine light came on. Mazda dealer checked it, said it must be a fluke
Week later came on again, now noticed mpg gauge is stuck on 25 mpg.

I wanted to see front end suspension diagnostic and testing maneuvers on the road and views under the chassis. My 2013 Mazda CX-5 w nearly 245,000 miles has clunking there, especially over bumps, potholes and speed humps. I know part of it at least is a worn stabilizer bar boot that's open and split but I'd like to know if there is more.

No, it means to use "top tier" gasoline. If you look up "top tier gasoline brands" online, you will find a website that explains it and gives you a search tool to find stations that carry it. Some brands actually have the label on their pumps. Top tier gas can cost a little more, but not always. BUT you will make up for it in better MPG and a better running engine.
High octane does NOT mean high quality, it just costs more. Using higher octane than you actually need just wastes money. From experience, I can tell you that the cheap stuff can cut your mileage as much as 5 MPG on the tank you just filled.

I just bought a CX5 which took me a long time to decide. While it is a great vehicle there are some features that annoy me. The I-Stop must be the most useless invention ever made. Instead of a temperature gauge they included an electric parking brake. What a joke I also don't the idea of getting locked in after I drive off. Then this stupid Push Button Start button. At least I don't have to put up with a CVT transmision. I want my Grand Vitara back.

The ride is rough even on 17" stock wheels. Lots of road noise, and especially lots of drivetrain noise .. mystery sounds from transmission, axels, who knows. The front strut mounts both died around 170k kms. I had problems with the key lock on the drivers side door it had to be replaced. Rear handle mechanism also had failed. A ton of rust on the roof, over 50 spots and not from stones.. appears to be rusting inside out.

What year do you own? With the rusting on the roof, did you have a sunroof?? When did the rear hatch handle go on you?? I'm looking at a 2013 cx-5 with 133,000 miles. It's 2.0L. would like to get the 2.5 but it's not in my price range.

    • @radekw708

@@maggiemcgrath9397 It wasn't rear hatch handle, it was the rear door handle (left side). Also the physical lock on drivers door seized so had to replace the barrel. No sunroof and no other rust just on the roof, about 100+ spots looks like its rusting from the inside out (no stone damage). Its a 2014 2.0L 6 speed 106k miles. My neighbour has 2018 cx9 and also roof rust starting on a brand new car basically. My friend ha the 2017 cx9 and he has already a few rust spots on the roof but not as bad as mine. He also had to replace the LCD instrument cluster as it cracked in the winter, here in southern Ontario the winters aren't even all that bad. I'm glad I have a physical dash cluster, nothing can go wrong there. Hopefully mazda figures out all these problems. Not sure what I will do about the roof, I'll ty to fix it but it will probably need new paint.

@@gruesomely2760 I'm in Ottawa, Canada but its not the climate so much, I have a 20 yr old ford focus and not a single spec of rust on the roof it does have underbody surface rust though. Mazda no rust on body panels anywhere except on the roof. My neighbour has 2019 cx9 already rust spots on roof and other buddy has 2017 cx9 and a few rust spots on roof. I think its a defect .. mazda cheaped out on the coating on the roof or something. They put all plastic underneath which helps. I took those panels off and no rust there so good job making sure the areas that you would expect to rust don't rust. I'll deal with the rust though make sure it doesn't spread. I bought the car because I think it's a good reliable platform. If it gets me 500k and rusts out underneath like my ford escort, I'll take it :)
