The 2.5 L version has better pick-up
@@msherman77 Scotty is wrong about the horsepower.
It's a 2014, the engine cover is black, wheels are 19", and the trunk says "AWD".
All of these things means it certainly has the 2.5L, which mean it has 184hp not 155hp.
Im looking for a cx3 at the moment
What do you think about the 2020 Kia stinger gt2 I have been thinking about buying one for my girlfriend
Cheap? How much salarys do you have to make to buy this car
Tell me yours and i will tell you mine
I don't care how many cars you advertise Scotty... I am still saving up to buy the legendary 94 Celica unmodified.
A guy in my town is selling one. I kinda want it just for the meme lol
@BMO What? You're not buying it to use it as a daily driver? You're not allowed to have fun!
I saw a 95 Celica with a manual transmission and less than 100,000 miles listed for sale but it was about 300 miles away from me. For a split second I seriously thought about taking a road trip to look at it and maybe make an offer on it.
Save up and the older 80's Celica instead. They were the last generation to have the traditional RWD setup and the 22R/22RE engine.
firefoxmoz go get it
Scotty has to say "It's not turbo charged" twice to let the people know that it's going to be reliable.
After dealing with my wife’s now gone Mini S...no turbo is music to my ears.
No only this Mazda have 2 turbocharger,Scoty how much Mazda pay you?????
apolon III what are you talking about?
@@apoloniii3259 i lost
"He said it's not turbocharged, It's non-turbocharged" kinda like something Optimus Prime would say
My 2016 Mazda 3 hatchback 2.5L is the best car I've ever owned, almost 100k miles and just regular maintenance and it still looks and drives like new
Same with my m6
Does that have Turbo?
@@fieryscorpion no they dont they added the turbo in 2021 to the hatch back and sedan on premium models
My wife's 2016 Mazda CX3 bought in mid-2015 is the best car she's ever had. With just regular maintenance and 52,000km on the clock, it's still running great. Oh wait, 52k on the clock in 5 years, it's like a 2-year old car.
Wait till after 100k tho
On my 2nd Mazda,had my 1st one for 8 years,it was 12 year old,no issues and enjoying my 2.0 petrol 6 now.
favorite line from Scotty "freezing cold a/c" lol
"ahhh!"
As a fellow Texan, I can confirm that is an actual requirement if you want to sell a used vehicle lol.
And theres no arguing that 😂😂😂
"Endless money pits."
Fancy scan tool 😂
So excited to see my car has now become more famous than me lol. (This is my car btw)
What was he servicing on it out of curiosity? You’re a smart woman 😉
@@highjinx6519 My brakes.
Corisha Rogers thanks! I’m in Texas too, glad to know Scotty’s only 3 hours away just in case I ever need him lol. Be careful in that Houston traffic, those folks are crazy!!

Corisha Rogers thats why I stay out of the city as much as possible! If you ever get tired of it the Hill Country is like Heaven ☺️
Test drove the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Mazda CX-5 back in 2019. Fell in love with the CX-5, and 3+ years later I’m very happy with my choice.
how's the CX-5 treating you?
Yeah, how its treating u?
I'm a fan of Mazdas. They make a good car 😉! I've owned several and they have been very reliable.
Same here. I own a Mazda Protege, Mazda 3 and the newest addition to the family a Mazda CX-9
2.0L Skyactive engine is lackluster (I have a 2013 CX5). But the 2.5L engine (my 2014 Mazda 6 and mom's 2016.5 CX5) is perfect - no turbo needed. this automatic transmission is bullet-proof too. 6 gears is perfectly enough. and the most important one about quality is its made and assembled in Japan.
I have the 2.0 petrol as well, it's perfectly adequate for most suburban trips and road trips, but agree that you really need to work it hard at higher revs in the mountains uphill! If that's what you'll be doing often, get the 2.5 petrol!
Depends on which skyactiv engine you get since there's like 3 i think the g, d and x, which is gasoline, diesel and x.
@@pedropau288 99%+ of the US masdas are regular skyactive G. very few diesels. and the skyactive X is about the same or less. both skyactive D and X are virtually nonexistent
@@victorkonon same as in SEA then. I really love them but the engine output leaves something to be desired
Quality improved when they left FORD.
Abu Mishal Ford’s quality also improved when they kicked out Mazda, Land Rover, Jag, Volvo, and Aston Martin. Too many mouths to feed with not enough resources.
TED Schmitt ford ruined Volvo lmao
@@diablocls55 thats what he said he said for kicked volvo out
I'd say that they did alright on their MPVs. At least, my '02 MPV is doing pretty good for a vehicle with 265k on it.
@@tedschmitt178 ford quality never improves fix or repair daily
Since saying bye-bye to Ford, Mazda's quality has improved. When Ford owned part of Mazda, Mazda had rebadged Ford Explorer and Ford Ranger
They are still using Ford parts. Including the engines.
@@thedextertech22 For all intents and purposes, that's a false statement. My '13 still had a ford body but there isn't any ford crap breaking in it at 172K miles, except I'm not sure about the wheel bearing that failed at 100K miles.
@@big0bad0brad your statement confuses me. If I said they still use Ford parts and you said they don't but then said your body on your 13 is Ford, how is that not using Ford parts? The engine here is the Ford 2.5l and the 6 speed he is referring to is a Ford trans. Although he said it was a Mazda trans. Which in theory is correct except made by Ford.
@@thedextertech22 That engine and transmission are not made by ford. Check wikipedia. And as for the other part, it's 2020 now, not 2013.
@@thedextertech22 Nope. Newer Mazdas don't use Ford parts anymore, at least not in the US. If anything, Ford is still using legacy Mazda tech, like with their Ecoboost engines. But Mazda hasn't needed a Ford part in years.
Ive owned a CX-5 for almost 5 years. It's the best vehicle i've ever owned, hands down.
I'm looking to buy one. Is it really that good and reliable?
*I would buy the newer Cx-5's over the Rav 4's and CRV.* 😩👍
Agreed
Yes
Agreed. I got me a new CX-5 and it is a better value👍
@@georgez1850 how about reliability and it's durability is it good??
Wot
Drove the 2.5l here in Indonesia. Bought one new back in 2014. Had around 70K miles on it. Not a single problem. Changed the oil every 5K miles and a regular tune up. Just did the Transmission oil change and the coolant flush. Best car ive ever owned so far. Never left me stranded and didnt broke the bank when it needed repair! The Bose sound system is pretty nice too!
Mazda is up there with Toyota in terms of quality and reliability right now. Certainly more stylish....
Toyota and mazda are actually partnered now. Toyota is going to start using the skyactiv engines. That should tell you how good they are
The twist is that I can get a pretty great trim cx5 for less than an xle and it feels better than a rav in pretty much every way!
Mazda is building cars with Toyota using their engineers and parts. Toyota is known for reliability they don't work with just anybody. They now own 27% of mazda also have them 3 billion dollars to improve engineering. All things good
I had a RAV4and my wide a subaru cross track. Both leases were up. I traded my 2017 RAV4, and after driving everything I bought a 2020 Ford Escape titanium hybrid. It is flawless. Best car I ever had. I can’t find a single thing I dislike, plus my mileage is between 43 and 48 mpg. My wife bought a Mazda CX-5 and really likes it very much.
I bought a 04 mazda 2 over three years ago for five hundred euro . I service it every 9k miles Easily the best car ive ever owned .
My sister purchased a 2005 Mazda 3 a while ago and I got to drive it once she got a new Mazda. Now I got a newer Mazda 3 and love it but that 2005 is still solid. Honestly, the best cars you can get are Mazdas.
The family across the street brought home a beautiful burgundy colored CX-5 several years ago (2017). That car turned heads and was the talk of the cul-de-sac. Very sadly, that family was headed south on the I-5 to DisneyLand when a vehicle heading north cut a tyre, crossed over the median, and met them head on. In all, eight lives were cut down in their prime on that freeway in July. We planted a remembrance tree for the entire family.
That's a beautiful way to remember them
Have one of these, except manual / FWD and I live in the snow belt. Loving it!
This 2014 Mazda CX-5 was built BEFORE Mazda entered a partnership with Toyota. Moral of the story, Mazda can create quality reliable cars without Toyota. IMO Mazda are only second to Toyota now.
Exactly, Mazda's newly improved quality/reliability has NOTHING to do with Toyota. As of early 2021 they haven't built a single car together.
First now
I would take the newer Cx-5's over the Rav 4's and CRV.
we bought one 3 months ago...no complaints real nice vehicle
My 2015 cx5 has been great
In fact you would not be wrong at all going for the cx-5. Really reliable well made cars
I don’t like the Rav 4. Crv is ok, but the Cx5 seems like a little more exciting car to drive.
@@jasoncapecod it's only 3 mths old.why would you complaint?
I currently own a 05, 08, 14 mazda 6 and a 2010 mazda 3. I keep em all running myself. Great cars. I dont care what anybody says
Nice collection!
Hey Scotty! When the front doors lock and you have the key fob all you have to do is push the little button on the door handle. You don’t necessarily need to use the key fob to unlock
I bought a 2008 Mazda CX-7 in 2012, still have it to this day. Easy to drive and very reliable, only bad things it had during that time were the horrible AC and a very small hood department.
Love my CX5. Don't forget about the kickdown switch on the gas pedal. Gives a little more oomph when passing. Some people don't know about it. You're welcome.
Even functions in manual mode, which probably improves safety a bit by giving you faster access to more acceleration even if your arm isn't ready to shift.
Thank you. Had a Mazda 3 for six years, 4 cylinder, NA, and have not had a problem with it. Cheapest car to own I have ever had and best quality.
I own two Mazda vehicles and love them. A 2014 3 sedan and 2016.5 CX-5. Only weak spot are the brakes but they are not too bad to replace.
ive heard a lot about the breaks, but an engineer said they were designed to be not an on and off switch. dont know what that means.
Mazda’s are only getting better. I’d love to see Scotty take a look at the newer CX-5. I just bought a Mazda6 and I love it, hope I keep it for a long time!
just bought? its hard to find them. low inventory
the next gen Mazda 6 is looking to get an in-line six engine which is pretty sweet
You may keep it, I think the only reason why you leave a Mazda is for an upgrade (Mazda of course). I still have my 2005 Mazda3 while driving my 2018 Mazda3 on a daily basis 👌🏻
I have a 2018 CX-5 and I love it!
@@chackos123 After 2 more years, how much are you loving the CX5. I'm giving serious thought to getting one over the CRV. I'm thinking years 18-20
Had 3 Mazdas so far and basically trouble free, the only thing I would say is the ones built 2000-2010 have some bad rust issues
I have a 2018 version. I have had no problems with it. Currently have around 50k. Just routine services so far.
My 2014 mazda3 also has the 2.0 liter engine and it has been totally reliable. My car has 112k and no check engine lights
Very few CX-5s have a turbo ... that is a recent option. Most have the 2.5L with 186hp.
After watching this video uncle Scotty sold me on buying a Mazda 🚗 🚘
Just dont buy earlier than 2014. 2014+ and make sure its made in japan the mexican ones tend to have a few recalls meanwhile the Japanese ones rarely if at all have recalls
The ones with Skyactiv technology will last longer than the ones before the Skyactiv technology, but considering people usually manage 250k-300k out of the pre-Skyactiv Mazdas, the Skyactiv Mazdas will still last for a very long time, probably even longer than the older Mazdas. If you're buying used, the Skyactiv Mazdas will be the best bang for the buck, the Skyactiv ones also tend to ride much nicer and have more luxury than the pre-Skyactiv ones, so that's another plus!
My 2017 CX-5 Sport is dream to drive. Very economical on gas and very great on long highway drives. Quiet cabin, comfortable seats, and a smooth ride. Well worth the buy for any one looking into a compact suv. My engine is a Skyactiv 2.5L inline 4 making 187 HP with 186 lb feet of torque.
I love mine also! 2017 CX-5 Great car...
I have a 2018 CX-5 with 143,000 miles. Only brakes belts, plugs, filters and fluid changes so far. Today I’m replacing the rear shock absorbers.. best vehicle I’ve ever owned, really well made.
U drove the 143k miles urself?
I have the 2016.5 model year in 2wd. It's been trouble free for over three years. 184 HP is pretty good and has a sport mode which holds revs longer. No turbocharger.
I have a 2014 CX-5 Touring trim 2.5L and I absolutely love it. It's a great car and I did a lot of research before I bought it used in 2018.
I love that Scotty approves of my car.
Did your CX-5's windshield crack like the one in the video?
@@ShyLeonheart Nope. 8 years old and have had no issues with it at all. 73k miles currently.
I bought mine brand new in 2018 and can honestly say it’s a great car. The car is as smooth as my mothers Lexus RX. Recently had a minor accident and had to get a rental which was a 2020 RAV4 gas engine and I could not wait to get my car back. Gas mileage is great, which is surprising because i have a heavy foot.
My previous car, a Honda CR-V was a good car. My Mazda CX-5 is a better car.
My 2010 mazda 6 has 280k ,runs great, never had an issue with it
Our ‘12 3 has well over 250k & the biggest thing we’ve had to do is the serpentine belt. Lots more of us if you read the rest of the comments.
Good to know because I have a 2010 mazda 3 with 106k. But mine lags a little randomly but other than that its amazing
I had a 2010 Mazda 6 as well. Traded it in with just under 300,000 miles. It was all original with only normal maintenance necessary in almost 10 years. Got the same gas mileage when I traded it in as when I bought it.
rhark25 yep our 3 still gets virtually the same gas mileage which is crazy considering we’ve never changed the fuel filter since it’s in the gas tank.
2004 Mazda 6i over 329k. Hardest things had to replace probably the timing chain but runs great
Bought a new base level 2020 Cx5 2 months ago and it runs like a dream. I opted for the natural aspirating engine and I’m ready for this car to last forever
With good regular maintenance it will no doubt.
Not with cylinder deactivation and GDI.
Scotty don’t gift credit to toyota .. this years Mazda are all create and made by Mazda ... ( not toyota ) the upcoming models might have something to do with Toyota... but all the skyactive models are all Mazda made ... very reliable and good looking
You hit it on the nose with this presentation. We have a 2016 CX-5 and it is outstanding. We also have a 2006 Toyota Solara convertible with 53k miles. My car is one of your favorites...a 2014 Mercedes E-360 Coupe. Love your presentations. Chuck in Allen (Dallas), Texas.
Drivin a 2016 Mazda 6 estate (Waggon) in soul red with skyactive-D 175 hp, 6speed atm, 230 km/h, sport-trim (highest in europe), full spec....
Best car ever owned, no issues at all so far, is like new....
So fast, so comfy, reliable, good looking, stable in value, very good in low diesel consumption = perfect
Absolutely recommendable to everyone
I bought a 2012 Mazda5 with 100k miles on it. Still feels new despite a few scratches. I love the thing to pieces
The true meaning of minivan. Incredibly practical and easy to drive. These days "minivans" are more like full size vans.
We had one too. Great car....just traded it for a used 2018 CX5. Also great!
The 2015 cx5 AWD touring has decent acceleration. Pretty good in snow.
Thank's for adding in the towing ability, I was wondering when this video started. I have a little 5 by 8 cargo trailer I pull a lot.
Have a 2014 CX-5 Grand Touring with AWD. Love it! Great on gas, reliable, and always puts a smile on my face. Highly recommend it❤️
Most of the people do not understand the power of "smile on my face". It's truly a forgotten "feature" these days with all the cookie cutter cars out there.
I just bought a 2015 Mazda 6 today. This video is making me feel really good about my choice.
You’ll feel even better in a few years when it has some miles racked up and has had to have virtually 0 repairs.
I love Mazda 6's. I had a 2010. Drive a 2017. And am looking at the 2021 before the change they are about to make. The new ones go like hell.
I have a 2016 CX5 Touring. I've had absolutely zero problems with it in almost 6 years. By far the best car Ive ever owned! I keep up with regular maintainence of oil changes and tire rotations every 5k miles. And Ive replaced the battery once.
How's the car doing now do you still own it?
@@dashdfklasjd Yes I still own it and it's still doing perfectly as my daily driver. No problems with it in over 7 years. Best car Ive ever owned
@Cabo Wabo I was looking at a 2015 cx5 awd114k miles on it wasn't sure if I should pull the trigger on it
@@dashdfklasjd I would say go for it; still plenty of life in that if you can score it at a good price. The only problem I've heard of this generation CX5 was there was paint chipping problems with only the Soul Red. My Sonic Silver has been fine and still looks like new. Also I know there was front windshield cracking issue with some GT's, but my Touring has been fine.
@Cabo Wabo appreciate the response! The car was super smooth way better then my 2014 crv lmao with same amount of miles plus the black interior looks super nice!
I have a 2011 Mazda 3 and never had any issues. Also have a 2016 cx5 with 2.5l engine and no issues with it either. Great cars and fun to drive.
I really like the two cup holders on the engine's beauty cover.
I’m in love with the whole branding that Mazda has, they are reliable and have the elegant kodo design no crazy body lines that would look outdated in a couple of years. For my first car, I would love to have a Mazda 3. I want a used one ofc but the new generation is too🤤 I’ll wait a bit more to see if I can get a 2019
Get the 2018 2.5 NA hatch (practicality). Not sure but the new ones might have that nasty cylinder deactivation system. I know higher trims 2019 and up CX-5 has it.That was the single most stupid thing lately Mazda did to their vehicles. They should have known better. Every other manufacturer had issues with cylinder deactivation. Stay away from that system. Mazda said they fixed it but I would get just the regular engine for peace of mind.
For what it is the Mazda CX-5 is a very good vehicle. Its been the first automatic that ive really been satisfied with, meaning that i have rarely wished it was a manual, which is saying alot.
Thanks, Scotty! Please keep up your honest appraisals of cars. I'm now watching you more than TV programs. Question : I'm thinking of adding a bypass oil filter to my 2002 Ford Expedition with 235,000 miles with the intent of getting to 500,000 miles. What is your advice about whether it is a good idea or not? Is there a brand that you would prefer if I choose to do this? Thanks again.

My parents have a 2013 CX-5 2wd since it was new with over 100,000 kilometers now and it hasn’t aged at all, and everything has always worked.
2013 CX-5 here at over 100 K miles. Just brakes, tires and oil changes so far! Oh and had to change out the A/C compressor but it wasn't terrible. $500 fix.
I just picked up a super clean,one owner 2013 cx5 touring with 106,000 on it...Runs perfect & looks new!!...I love driving again!!!
Just got got a 2019 cx3 last week. I love it.
That Mazda rattles like mine in the valve train. If a Mazda ain't tickin' it's broke.
I've been driving an 06 Mazda 6 for the past 4 years. 2.3l 4 banger, 5 speed manual. Got it with 119k miles. At 180k now. Only repairs were a thermostat stuck open and a leaky valve cover gasket. I did have to change the oil pan when a shop destroyed it.
Did all the work myself. Engine was immaculate inside.
I had a white one but the 2.0l 2WD but the screen didn't have buttons. Definitely fast enough and good fuel consumption, especially at long distances.
We recently purchased our 2nd CX-5, with this one being a Grand Touring-Reserve. Really enjoy It. I also have a 2018 Mazda 6 Signature. Have been impressed with features , design, fit and finish of these new Mazda’s. Very nice cars for the money.
Hey Scotty, Love you and your channel! Which version of the 2020 CX5 would you go with? I’d guess your answer would be 2wd non turbo (if that exists) but thought you might have something more specific. Thanks! And again, keep doin the videos man, my dad and I text each other about your videos all the time :)
2:30 This SUV looks like something I'd drive. White exterior easy cleaning and keeps looking clean. Interior is great:not the base funereal black and chrome but full of character with the off-white seating.
4:25 You said the owner doesn't trust other drivers and installed an on-board camera. Very, very smart! I bought one two weeks ago, but after noticing one near rear-view mirror I see something on the passenger side windshield. She's got one super recording capability with this system. Unbelievable. Looks like she knows other drivers, maybe from past bad experiences?
Another fantastic video.
Hi Scotty I love your channel. I learn a ton about car’s, your channel is a must watch for anyone who wants to know the truth about cars....

What is a clean car? 🤷♂️
Ohhh you mean one that someone uses air fresheners in 😉
Taking their cue from Scotty's garage.
Nobody in general cleans their car
Scotty, Mazda’s reliability had improved for years before their deal with Toyota. Their reliability didn’t suddenly improve because they started working with Toyota. By the way, according to Consumer Reports, the CX5 has been more reliable than the CRV most years, except one, since its debut as a 2013 model.
Just bought the 2.2 diesel 180bhp cx5 and completely in love! They do things that just make sense and has good poke
I’m on my second Mazda, my first car was an older Mazda 3 hatchback with the 2.3L engine, as a teenager and first car I beat the hell out of it and it never gave any issues. A family member bought it and it has over 350,000km now and only issue it had outside wear and tear is a fuel pump. I just bought a 2019 Mazda CX-5 after having a bad experience with a Ford and love it to death too!
Proud owner of CX-5 Touring! Love you Mazda!
Scotty we had an 84 GLC sport 1.5 with a manual 5 bullet proof, then got a 96 Protege- also lasted . Currently looking at a cx5/9
Love our CX-9, went with a ‘15 & got the fancy pkg with low miles for a damn good deal and couldn’t be happier. Test drive both before you buy, I actually felt a lot more comfortable in the 9, something about the 5 just didn’t feel right besides manual seats and no third row for a higher price lol.
I have the 2018 CX 9. The car is a rock star. Get the signature series if you can afford it
InsideOutside UpsideDown agreed. Love the Bose system and sunroof, nicest car I’ve ever owned hands down and drives great too!
Hey Scotty, it's selective AWD, its front 2wd most of the time unless you put your foot down or starts to lose traction
I've got a 2015 cx-5 2 wheel drive. Gets me out of red Ga clay all the time just fine.
The Bluetooth is spotty, but that is the only issue I've had.
They are fun to drive compared to other brands. If you want to drive a couch you get a toyota
I love my Mazda. I can't complain. Mine with the K&N typhoon intake, racing beat exhaust, and the manual transmission has decent acceleration and gets over 40 mpg on the freeway almost always. 2018 Mazda 3 2.0
Mazda's manuals are sooo enjoyable it's hard to describe.
I have a 2014 Mazda 6 with Skyactiv...just turned 99,000 maintenance-free miles (with the exception of oil changes and tires). I've had three Mazdas, starting with an RX-7 back in 1978. All told, I have about 500,000 miles on all three Mazdas and never a major failure of anything (with the exception of an AC compressor on a Mazda 3).
2003 Mazda 6 atenza ❤️still running perfectly with me ☺️☺️
BTW, Scotty the first generation Ford Fusion was based on a Mazda 6 platform not a Volvo.
Mazda quality started to go way up when they split with Ford ... about 2014 (depending on the model). Their quality has NOTHING to do with Toyota.
I think the CX-50 will be the first joint Mazda/Toyota vehicle. All other models have been 100% Mazda for the past several years.
Guess who have a (2002) Mazda6?!? And I did just change the starter battery for the first time... after 18 years... no kidding! It was a Panasonic btw.
my 2013 cx-5 has a trans issue, when you put it into Drive it jerks... then the next gear is iffy.. but shifting past 1st gear.. best transmission ever. very smooth.
I own a 2002 Mazda Protege5 Still purrsss like a kitten. Great Video Scotty!
Greetings from Ocean City, Maryland 🤙🏼
I think that awd system will help you in rainy Houston too. The awd in my CX-9 disconnects when not in use. I got the SkyActiv turbo and have not regretted it for a minute. How about 2 tropical storms for the gulf at the same time?
I got skyactive turbo also drives so nice with decent torque too
Love my CX-9!
The newer SKYACTIV X are the ones with the turbo. Mazda avoided turbos, except in Mazda Speed models, until recently.
I just bought a Mazda CX-5 2014
If Scotty Approves I am really happy I chose wisely. I did see some of the previous vids about this Mazda and I can't lie that Scotty didn't push me towards it a bit by approving it.
That must have the smaller 2.0. Get the 2.5. I have same transmission in my 2014 Mazda 6; it’s a good one when you drive it hard
Ive said it before and Ill say it again, ive owned every major Japanese brand and my 2014 Mazda6 is the best car i ever owned.
Even Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Nissan and isuzu?
@@joskjj3625 you're right. Not Mitsubishi or Suzuki or Izuzu. I did own a 93 Nissan Sentra SE-R and that was also an excellent car. I wouldn't buy a new one though.
Corkfish1 so you didn’t own every Japanese brand
@@joskjj3625 no. Just the major ones. I would suggest the other brands mentioned don't really count.
@@joskjj3625 None of those brands even come close to Mazda reliability, and some of them don't even exist in the U.S anymore, or are pulling out soon (probably Mitsubishi)
Used to own a 14 Mazda3, now I have a 18 Mazda6; great cars. The turbo is lots of fun as well, though i did have to get the whole front suspension replaced after hydroplaning it; sometimes i hear some random clunking sounds (usually at low to medium speed, when breaking). I know it is not the rotors since i had them resurfaced, but otherwise, it still drives perfectly fine
Scotty Mazda made the engines and transmissions for the first (06-09) Ford Fusions. Would love to hear your thoughts on these cars as I own the 4 cylinder with 149k miles with no issues!
I don't care what you think everyone knows the cx5 has a better interior, exterior and engine. I would buy the cx5 over any other car.
I adore my cx5. Fun little drivers vehicle, amazing sound system, good looking, all around amazing vehicle!
That year of the CX-5 had the 186 hp 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine for the base. The 155 hp 2.0 liter had been dropped a few years prior.
I flag service tickets at a Mazda dealership. These vehicles are super solid!
I am always a fan of these Mazda CX-5's with the 2.5 L Skyactiv four-cylinder engine, not the 2 L Skyactiv four-cylinder engine.
Yeah for me the 2L is perfect for my 2013 Mazda 3, but that's car form factor and the less power isn't really an issue there. I think 2.5 is a little more reasonable for an SUV, but the 2.0 would be workable and would make sense if you mostly do highway driving.
The 2.0 is a much simpler engine not having the counter balance shafts of the 2.5 among other features...in my book simpler is better. Both motors seen solid and I have one of each.
We bought a 2016 cx5 AND IT IS A GOOD CAR. MORE ROOM IN THE BACK FOR MOM'S WALKER
Wife has the 2018 base model. The Sports mode does help with getting onto the motorway. It does look nice and driver feedback is not dull like the CR-V. I was wondering how it would compare to the higher trim RAV4.
Hey Scotty, this was the first video I saw from your channel! I was saying "Hm, that crazy old man. Why is he wearing those sunglasses? There's no need to..." whatever... and now, I'm more than your fan!
"In the past, Mazda had a lot of problems with their automatic transmissions" (especially when they teamed up with Ford, lol)
I'm looking for my first car, and in my budget, only Mazda has the automatic and naturally aspirated engine. Honda and Toyota has gone CVT. Tough choice. I might buy used instead
Used is the way to go anyway, otherwise you just lose a lot of $. You can find em with low enough miles & see the car’s history if you run the VIN#, let someone else take the loss!
That’s what I did. Bought a used 2014 CX5 with 73,000 mile. Runs like new! Way cheaper than new.
Manny C. Got a ‘15 Cx-9 with around 40k and found one with the touring pkg for around the same price as the used ‘16 cx-5’s that have no 3rd row, no ac vents in the back & no luxury features. Also drives like a dream. Was a no brainer for me!
High Jinx Sweet!!!
The new Mazdas are very nice, overpriced German nice, with a twist of legendary Japanese reliability, all for a low price. If you're looking for new, Mazda is literally a no-brainer. Used Mazdas are excellent as well; your money will go far with Mazda, even if you buy new. If you don't care much about money, definitely get a brand-new Mazda. Plus, if you're not going to keep the car for 5+ years, you'll still get $10-$15k USD back (about a third of the car's price new) when you trade it in or sell it, as long as you don't put excessive mileage on it, so it's not a total loss.
Got a 1998 Mazda Lantis (323F BA) with a five-speed manual and a 4-cilinder engine.
Now after 22 years replacing the original clutch, original exhaust.
Still a super smooth drive, very nice handling, extremely nice stock (Sony) sound system actually decently fuel-efficient. and only cost me 550 euros! Looks nice and sporty too.
Nice 👍
We have a white 2wd 2014 cx5 with 133,000km and only a bad strut mount so far. It has been an amazing car. We also own a 2010 Mazda 3 with 189,000km and just maintenance and a couple wheel bearings on that one.
I have a 2018 CX-5. It’s been great. I also had 2 Mazda 3s and 2 Civics. I liked the Mazda’s a lot more than the Civics.
