I bought a used 2020 CX-5 in 2022 with 25k miles. Absolutely love the car. Put 30k miles on it. Just basic maintenance. No problems. Drove it all over the US, from tropics to mountains to desert. Was a champ. Enough room for people and lots of luggage. Highway mileage was 30+ with full car, cruising at 75. Safe, reliable, fun to drive, and good-looking. Very happy with my purchase.

Research these CX-5's online and you'll find near universal praise. Everyone who owns them seems to love them. Most everyone is just amazed that Mazda doesn't sell more than they do. There's very little negative written about these cars. In today's polarized internet environment, where everyone likes to criticize anything and everything, that says ALOT about these vehicles.

I'm currently owning a 2017 CX-5 awd, the space is on the smaller side of the compact SUV and doesn't get really good MPG compare to other vehicles in its class. That being said, the build quality and styling is really good. Lots of working room (for non-turbo) underneath the hood for parts replacement in the future as well.

@@randy74989 Since CX-50 is made in Alabama, time will tell how well it ages. Hopefully Mazda engineering and quality control shine through. It is a VERY nice vehicle. It almost seems to be more of an upscale outdoorsy Subaru / baby Rover competitor than a road going near premium SUV like CX-5. I have sat in them and they are really impressive inside. The outside I think might be a little to "rugged" looking for some. Hopefully a redsigned CX-5 comes. It is their bread and butter right vehicle right now. Or, maybe the soon to be revealed CX-70 takes the CX-5's place in the line up. Time and it's size will tell.

I agree. I bought my 2016 Mazda 3 brand-new and it was also built in Mexico. When we went to test drive it, I was a little nervous of the fact that it was built in Mexico and not in Japan and I told the dealer that I wanted to go where there were lots of potholes. He said you actually want to go where there are potholes? I said yes I want to see if this thing rattles. We went and found a road with a lot of potholes and not a rattle one. These things are very well built. Before I bought my Mazda 3 I had actually purchased a 2016 Toyota Corolla and it had a terrible rattle that you could hear that seemed to be coming from the air conditioning vents. That rattled drove me nuts. I finally sold the car because of it. A few years later we actually rented a Toyota Corolla and I thought that maybe they would have fixed that issue as the rental car was like 3 or 4 years newer. Guess what? Although it had redesigned air vents, it still had that exact same rattle. I used to love Toyota years ago, but between the rattles and the CVT transmissions, I will no longer purchase Toyota. MAZDA‘s are pretty much the only vehicles that we’ll buy for the rest of our lives. Great job Mazda engineers. Keep up the great work and don’t try and be other car manufacturers. Keep doing your own thing and making awesome vehicles!

My husband who has had pickups for over 30 years likes to drive the Mazda too. I had Jeeps for over 20 year's. This isn't like that, the Mazda is definitely more like a crossover. I joked it's a little like a SUV, car, and lux all rolled in together. My hubby loves it so much he was looking at the CX-50, CX 90, and wants to know about the CX-70 when it comes out. I'm in the market to replace my 2014 Mazda 6 and was considering the CX-50 but now turned off by two things. First, the base engine is made in Mexico, and if that wasn't bad enough the base has cylinder deactivation (turns off 2 of 4 cylinders at certain conditions). I want no part of that. Second, the turbo engine is made in Japan but that one has what Mazda refers to as i-Stop...engine shuts down when the vehicle is stopped and then restarts once you start moving. I'm sometimes in stop-and-go traffic and don't need any part of that. It can be disabled, but every time to you start the car if defaults to "on". As much as I'd like CX-50, these features are a no-go for me.

I was doing the same thing with mine, but the switch isn't connected to the starter like the old days. I step on the brake, give the button a quick stab -- that's all that's required -- and while it's cranking I grab my seat belt. 😊

2024 mazda cx5 Select. Love it!! 1st mazda, as Hondas and toyota going downhill. No I-stop or cylinder deactivation on mine & love that. All I need, & nothing I dont. . Fair price, comfortable, great visibility, spare tire & high quality in & out. Infotainment is a learning curve, but getting the hang of it. Made in Japan, 6 speed, ( no crummy Cvt) & naturally gas aspirated. Won't be going back to Hondas or toyota. Was on par price wise but you get a WHOLE lot more standard features so was worth the cost. I'm happy, ZOOM ZOOM 😊

I have been researching what car to buy and the CX-5 was my top pick, probably a used one 2020-2023 with low miles. The price is reasonable and it looks nicer than the Rav4 or CRV... I really want something reliable and practical but the zoom would be appreciated too haha. My Kia Spectra is closing in on 200k miles and its starting to have some problems. I don't want to deal with too many repairs so I think its about time for a new car... Maybe keep the Kia as a back up car since its been so reliable this far.

My brother just bought a base Mazda CX5. And I must say he made a great decision. He didn’t want a turbocharged engine nor did he want a CVT transmission. His 2023 Mazda has neither. It has a naturally aspirated engine with ample horsepower and torque, a “regular” torque converter transmission (Mazda is distancing itself from CVT’s), AWD , nice interior and etc. he made a great choice. No other manufacturer makes a comparable car. All SUV’s like the CX-5 Select are either turbocharged and/or have CVT transmissions.

I really like my 2024 Mazda Cx-30. I didn't get the Turbo engine. It has no CVT. It's quieter than any Honda I have had except the Pilot. I have had 9 Honda's and I won't go back to them. I loved Honda's in the beginning but they aren't made like they are used even if they were made in Japan.....like oil dilution problem I had with my 2018 CRV???? So I don't think manufacturing specifications just go out the window because a car is made state side or in Mexico it where abouts other than Japan.
