- Tesla recorded $500M+ in gross profit from its Energy and Services (Supercharging) segments in Q3 2023. Elon Musk noted how strong energy gross margins were on the call, and insinuated strength in these businesses will continue. I think this is a super exciting development for Tesla investors as the company can smooth out cyclicality in it's automotive business with consistent profits from its Energy and Services + Other segments. As the Supercharger network is opened up to more companies like Ford and Rivian, this could become a major profit driver for the company.

I really hope Tesla doubles down on Supercharger deployment! Especially with the upcoming opening of the network. Especially Supercharger locations with solar canopies.
I have question about production capacity for Superchargering and Level 2 charging hardware. With deals like the Level 2 Hilton deal and the Level 3 BP deal. Does Tesla have the production capacity to take on a bunch more of these deals in addition to doubling down on the Tesla owned network? I have no idea about the New York factory production output potential.

A few years ago it really sank in on how big the Energy side could be. Energy can be deployed in every country, even if there are not high numbers of EVs. Energy can easily be the bigger side, not counting Bots.

Thanks for another great video Gali! Yes, the sleeper hit we have all been waiting for is the Energy section of Tesla. Now that the Legacy OEM have signed on to the Super Charger network with access being granted in waves to other EV drivers in the New Year, we have two lines of revenue growth in Services and Energy to keep our eyes on.
I hope you will do a breakdown of the Q4 when it comes out give your thoughts on what you expect numbers wise before the results are in for old time sake.
I like the video length and the content is interesting and not repetitive or formulaic as some Tesla vloggers.
The engergy side of the business is battery bound, so as they ramp up cheaper battery supply this part of the business will see steady growth. It just wasn't as explosive as I originally hoped. I guess scaling battery and reducing cost does not happen overnight.
On the other hand, what's going on with their solar business. The world definitely need more solar panel. Elon told California that they need to double or triple their energy production. Why not scale solar panels and actively increase energy production?
Nice to see you back. Just a quick thought. Autobidder returned $330 million to Autobidder customers on 7 GW of install. Tesla take 30%. That would be about $140 million profit. Autobidder profit is cumulative based on the Autobidder install base not the installed capacity of Megapack. Autobidder revenue annually will ultimately exceed Megapack install profit. This is where I see most of the revenue growth coming from in the energy business as it matures. The real question is can Autobidder be used on any storage system no matter what that may be?

I have heard that the profits tesla makes by reselling used teslas is rolled up in that services business. Soon, many model 3s will start to qualify for that $4K used EV tax credit and I wonder how much that will affect the used tesla business and if we will ever get some insight into that specific business, separate from the rest of services
Those used Teslas with FSD failed to deliver the promised return to the owner……but suddenly became very valuable when selling by Tesla. Eventually the penny will drop.

Nice job. What's the picture relating to barriers to entry. Given that China is the largest battery manufacturer, should us Tesla shareholders be concerned about the Chinese? Eventually, the Chinese will manufacture a half decent copy of the Megapack, correct? It would blow if the US, Europe, Canada, etc. allowed a similar situation to what's developed in the solar panel market where China is the dominant player. China has been behaving extra poorly in the past 5+ years (fentanyl, corporate espionage, etc.). I hope Tesla and potential Western manufacturers are protected. It is a national security concern.

Tesla already in the big boy league wrt energy. Sure there will be some competition, but market is enormous.

Elon finally discovered that easy profits don’t come from vehicle manufacturing…….he lost interest in that long ago - and the FSD con was eventually seen through also. He could strip out just so much also before the game was up.
Now it’s energy…….except there are better value options in that space. Charging a premium can only last so long before that first mover advantage is wasted also.
