Definitely set it up as a Roth IRA at the brokerage. Then you will never owe any taxes at all when you want to take what you’ve put in yourself at any time or at retirement what you’ve made above and beyond your contribution

ANUBIS here, I am also doing something like this, but, I'm using a ROTH, you get $7000 deposit limit this year and EVERYTHING is tax free, growth dividends and you can pull out ALL your deposit at anytime... So doing what you're doing, but faster compounding and no withdraw losses after 5 years

You can max out a Roth IRA with $6,500 for 2023 and $7,000 in 2024. Then, you can deposit any additional investment you want to do in a brokerage account. EDIT: Not sure if Public does Roth IRAs. I hope they do!

Help me understand the compounding scenario. In your example, how is it possible to compound (snowball) your gains overtime if the growth of the stock doesn’t contribute to the compounding effect. How does a stock appreciating help me buy more stock overtime if I continue holding? Compounding interest creates a snowball effect because your interest generates interest, essentially growing without adding another dollar. If I purchase 1k of Tesla stock and deposit 1k into a HYSA, then wait 20 years, wouldn’t the HYSA outpace the stock because of compounding interest?

Recommend adding an inflation factor and capital gains factor to your spreadsheet and show the value of those future predictions in today's dollars. Using the current US inflation rate of 3% plus capital gains tax, 7% isn't a spectacular return. Of course you can defer tax or pay it up front with a retirement account, but now we're talking very long term planning.
A good rule of thumb is 25% max per position. What happens to your TSLA heavy portfolio if--heaven forbid--something happens to Elon? I personally would do 25% SPY and 25% 3 other positions...
Hitting a 22% return year after year for long periods of time is a fantastic aggressive goal! In my experience though, diversification won't get you there. Strategic and heavily weighted investments in high quality, fast growth companies can help accelerate returns but that investment strategy seems dichotomous to "diversification". How are you square that?
Based on your videos I invested 20K into Tesla back in 2018. I currently own 275 shares in a brokerage account but I've been slowly selling and then repurchasing in a Roth IRA because I don't want to pay taxes when I turn 59 1/2. So my question to you is why not open a Roth IRA?

Minor suggestion: Nothing wrong with using the S&P for holding, I would personally do the magnificent 7 at this point in time. Balance the 7 anyway you like or perhaps using equal risk calculator for those who are more algorithmic in their thinking. The other 493 are for the most part contemplating their navels at the moment.

Some people might think MSFT or NVDA are the hot ticket. Some people follow specific rules of portfolio diversity such as never owning more than 7 to 10 stocks. To each his own.
Nice but you should be putting this in a roth or Regular ira. Then you save tax money on putting it in or taking it out in the case of roth. It could make a 20% or more difference just with that.
