  • Washington Redskins QB Alex Smith joins Jeremy Schaap in studio to discuss what happened when he broke his leg, enduring many surgeries and battling an infection. Smith talks about the decision on whether or not to amputate his leg and how at one point his life was hanging in the balance. Smith also discusses the process he is going through to get back on the football field. (6:48) Smith is optimistic that he can return to play quarterback, but has had some doubts about it. (8:39) Smith isn’t sure what his place is currently with the Redskins and has been in communication with new head coach Ron Rivera. (10:20) Smith provides his thoughts on Super Bowl LIV, which features both of his former teams, the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Smith also says what he thinks of Patrick Mahomes’ quick rise to stardom in the NFL.

That's crazy. First I'm hearing of this and I guess that should be considered a good thing since he didn't want the publicity. A shame for the little girl and her family though. @Xrayballer88 4 года назад +12

I think he got a fair shot. Not a good shot nor a bad shot. Just a fair shot. You're correct that in his early 49ers days he dealt with way more than a young QB reasonably should if the goal is to properly develop him. On the other hand, he got to stick around for much longer than most QBs would have given his performance. Few QBs with his early struggles stick around beyond 3 years and he got 6 before a competent staff finally arrived. His situation is a bit nuanced.

You Alex, are a great quarterback, don't retire. I had to fall from my third floor apartment window to escaping a fire. When I landed I fractured 2 vertebrae causing me to be paralyzed from the waist down. Hard work and defying Dr's prognosis I walked in 3 months . You can come back to be a starting QB if that is your desire
