There are thousands of basketball minds coaching high school that know more than NBA coaches. There are small business owners that can run a team better than half the GM's. Most are just former players but playing and coaching are completely different. Kerr is not a very good coach. He is average.

What it sounds like Chuck means is that with the talent that team USA has there is no way they should be having close games like this. Team USA looks like an all-star team compared to the teams that come close to beating them. Team USA needs to get back to picking the right players and coach so that none of this is an issue.

Overrated coach, but he has the most difficult job in American basketball as of right now. & The team is getting everyone's best shot. People expected this team to look like the 92 Dream Team, but failed to understand just how good the field of competition has became since 92, since the Redeem Team, and since tge legendary 2012 team. Plus, Kerr is still catching strays for the team underperforming in the FIBA World Cup.

I disagree with brian and perk, and that Lady reporter is correct. Jason tatum may not be as good as a defensive player as white but hes not far off and his offense is better. Tatum been in a shooting slump but to not play him 1 minute this game when booker jrue antman and white was bricking and getting cooked on defense is diabolical!
Ant and White barely played any minutes. Jrue is a better defender for the guards and Booker is a better shooter than both of them. The only thing I will say is that Tatum could've replaced White, but White hasn't been on a shooting slump and is considered a better defender. Although Tatum is better offensively, the team doesn't need his offense when they have KD/Ant/Jrue handling the ball and playmaking for the second unit.
I don’t think being USA coach is a thankless job, just manage the rotations well and you’ll get high regards. Popovich and Coach K were some of the previous USA coaches and they managed everything great. Kerr problem is that he looked at this like a regular NBA team and not an Allstar team. First 3 quarters you could mix up the lineups, give players minutes, the 4th quarter go with the best lineup and hot hands.
NBA needs superstars to sell merch, they don't want a competitive league. They want a pantheon of basketball gods. Business first, sport second. Just stop watching NBA and watch Euroleague. You won't because you want to see the "superstars". They know their customer.

Not to mention Booker was scored on by Jokic twice maybe three times in the entirety of the game. Booker is the best pure catch and shooter on the team (other than Curry if you want to count him), and that's why Kerr has him in those moments. Tatum is one of the best players in the world and is also one of the best volume shooters, but he needs to get into rhythm to make catch and shoot 3's - Booker doesn't. Tatum wouldn't have changed a single thing unless he finally had an elite game (but he hasn't had one since joining the team).

I don’t know what these people watched but in the game I watched, I saw Nikola Jokic and Bogdanovic almost beat 12 NBA all stars with a supporting cast of truck mechanics and accountants.
Serbia had it would’ve been a great upset and humble all the US players. Giannis won chip recently, jokic too and doncic was in recently these international players coming to show how it’s done. Eventually it will be really different.

Allen Iverson is an all time great, top 5 SG all time, top 50 player all time, but he wouldn't see the floor on this Olympic team. That's how the Olympics works. You fill a spot on the team, and if Tatum was a great catch and shoot player then he would've had the spot over White and Booker. But he isn't that and the things that he does do great (slashing the defense, defending, playmaking, scoring) is done better by multiple other players (LeBron, KD).

Phil Jackson replaced Del Harris and went on to win 3 in a row with all the same core players. There’s a reason Mark Jackson is not coaching in the NBA but Kerr stepping in and winning has little to do with Mark Jackson and more to do with Kerr. The Warriors won championships and were always the better fundamentally sound team in just about every series. Barry Switzer inherited a team that won two straight Super Bowls with their core players in their prime and only managed to win one Super Bowl. Winning multiple titles in any sport is hard and Kerr has 4. He has to be doing something right. With that said, he clearly has some agenda or may be following orders. Let’s not forget that this is the same team that decided to go with White over Brown to fill their last roster spot when Brown would’ve been the better choice.

Since when was it illegal to change your mind/change your tone on something? I was critical of Kerr all summer long, but I've come to realize that he was caught between appeasing the players' egos, and actually making the right basketball decisions. Overrated coach, but he has the most difficult job in American basketball as of right now. & The team is getting everyone's best shot. People expected this team to look like the 92 Dream Team, but failed to understand just how good the field of competition has became since 92, since the Redeem Team, and since tge legendary 2012 team. Ant and White barely played any minutes. Jrue is a better defender for the guards and Booker is a better shooter than both of them. The only thing I will say is that Tatum could've replaced White, but White hasn't been on a shooting slump and is considered a better defender. Although Tatum is better offensively, the team doesn't need his offense when they have KD/Ant/Jrue handling the ball and playmaking for the second unit.

I don’t think being USA coach is a thankless job, just manage the rotations well and you’ll get high regards. Popovich and Coach K were some of the previous USA coaches and they managed everything great. Kerr problem is that he looked at this like a regular NBA team and not an Allstar team. First 3 quarters you could mix up the lineups, give players minutes, the 4th quarter go with the best lineup and hot hands.

Not to mention Booker was scored on by Jokic twice maybe three times in the entirety of the game. Booker is the best pure catch and shooter on the team (other than Curry if you want to count him), and that's why Kerr has him in those moments. Tatum is one of the best players in the world and is also one of the best volume shooters, but he needs to get into rhythm to make catch and shoot 3's - Booker doesn't. Tatum wouldn't have changed a single thing unless he finally had an elite game (but he hasn't had one since joining the team).

You’re talking about guards who were matched up against other fast guards. Tatum is a foward who has lebron and Kd in front of him. Booker has played his role as being a spot up shooter and played great defense in the 4th. Edwards legit just dropped almost 30 last game. And holiday and white are there to guard their guards. If you watched GSW this past season, Steve Kerr was justly criticized all year long for his rotations and coaching.
Saying Tatum couldn’t fit in that rotation is outrageous. You could’ve subbed Lebron out if we’re being real here made a few bad calls in the fourth quarter.
If LeBron sits, they loise.
Taking Lebron out is never an option. Mistake or not. Lebron skills are matchless. Period.
Look I don’t disagree, Lebron at the end made some mistakes and they took him out for a minute when Steph decided to take over. And maybe they could sub Tatum in but Tatum makes more mistakes in the clutch. And so does edwards at this point in his career. Lebron is slow now but maybe more offensivley reliable than Tatum. Tatum not better shooting than any of those guys closing out that game.
