It's a comedy show, bud. Just let there be comedy. Not everything has to end in a public service announcement. That being said, nicely done on the time stamps. Great work.
This is possibly my personal favorite episode so far. So proud of how this whole table session went but I especially love the Wotsit Dance Mom bit, Alan's commitment to the role play, the marionette character, the dress up montage... so many good moments. Also, look forward to next week, it is gunna be an excellent episode...
I really like that the players are learning and roleplaying their characters more. Even simple things like pretending to be actors to survey the future battleground really shows that they are using their imagination more and not treat Dungeons and Dragons as just a Wargame and as a Roleplaying Game.
I also loved this episode, just started laughing out loud at various moments 🤣🤣😂 Also, in your Behind the Screen streams *cough* twitch.tv/roberthartleygm *cough* you said that Greg just doing whatever for the lolz was a pity and that you liked more of this Greg, but I think both sides suit him!! Being a background character and quest giver/ company he often has to keep being all cheery in front of a lot of gruesome murders 🤣🤣😂 then, from time to time, he will snap and just give us pause on what we're accustomed to seeing in videogames, and this is it! Also loved that the way of Baradun and Bodger cheering him is basically just every skit he has with them 😂😂😂🤣🤣
I think this is my favorite episode so far. Actual role-playing, smart decisions like disguising themselves as part of the actors, overall being hilarious. Love it! And they are already setting up the next bad plan. I think there is a limit to what fits into the mouth of a bag of holding...
The moment when Ben rolls a nat 1, right after introducing his new dice and giving them a pep talk, probably can't be topped. But this whole episode here just hits differently.

I talk about your adventures often, even if people at work don't play D&D or the old lady at the grocery store tries to get away but she is old and has no choice but to listen to me tell her.
Let me get this right..... There's a very clear plot hole left open when it specifically mentions a mask is missing and for this whole campaign, we have had a mask that no magical person has been able to identify but we are all just going to forget about this?? Well ok. I sense a very big biscuits coming up soon.
11:17 - One of my rare serious comments coming up: I was once the pianist for a children's theatrical group who came up with their own play idea. One of the scenes involved the burial of and elegies for one of their friends (in the play, of course). Of the actors in that scene, one girl gave a truly astonishing performance, intensely realistic. It turned out that her pet cat had died IRL that morning, and she was imagining burying that. How professional is this.
Once again the subtitles are a character on its own, "worrying laughs" as Alan suggests forcing the Griffin to fly into a volcano :D Loved this episode, everyone was great in it!
Alan’s dedication to Greg’s mental struggle is admirable. He could easily have said he is a tinkerer/artificer and fixed something broken on the cart but stayed the course on what his character is thinking and feeling. Awesome work
When the temp HP from bodgers inspiring speech reaches 0, you should give bodger a "in spite ing leader" feat that let's the people who heard the speech add a 3d6 to an attack roll once on that day, because thinking of that speech pisses them off so much
You guys talk about mental health and stuff which i love its so important and i can say theres been weeks ive had where the only thing im looking forward to is the next episode so thank you guys Ben, Alan, Adam, Rowan, Rob, Byron, Hamish and all the people who do the production really help alot of people even if its just through entertainment

Wow, this episode started rather dark with Greg's PTSD and slow descent into madness...I guess we now know why he snaps when adventurers skip his dialog in Honeywood and why he enjoys being the town executioner! Once they had their "makeover" things became downright hilarious. Can't wait to see how they pull off their little scheme during the show! If history is any indication, it'll go very badly, especially if anything depends on Ben making skill-check rolls!
8:53 when you piss of a sorcerer so much, that he opts to punch you instead of using a spell to mess with you. that's when you know he's so mad that he forgot he's a sorcerer
Loved how sort of present and involved everyone was in this episode, poor Greg. Also loved how Rob's puppet face worked on the guys. XD Wohoo! 99 episodes of this goodness, can't wait for the next week's one! Congrats to all of you guys and thanks for the wonderful job you're doing with this series! ❤
I dont know why but the hard cut between the highlights from the previous episode where they're all acting like maniacs and yelling to the beginning of the new one where they're all like "Yup. Ye. Alright alright" is just comedy gold for me
99 Episodes and this is still the highlight of my week and still makes me laugh out loud, heres to Rob keeping his sanity long enough for 99 more! Great work guys.
31:58 Rob - Comedy mask is missing. Everyone - listening to Rob but can't connect the dots yet. In the players defense, they don't do this back to back. So, it's somewhat understandable to not connect the dots yet. Also, maybe Greg needs some Garlic and Fish? Yum, yum, yum?
Someone should make a drawing of the moment bodger pushes the cart while both kettlesteam and baradun watch, bob plays with watsit and greg has an existential crisis
Taking mental health seriously (and lecturing each other about consent in character) WHILE having a good time and providing top shelf entertainment?? I love you guys more and more all the time 💕
I was dying laughing at Wotsit dancing, the costume montage, and the "flouncy" acting. "It becomes a musical" Everyone's favorite words lol! Can't wait for the next episode. These are the highlight of my week :)
I really, really love when you guys do your skill checks. I don't know what it is exactly about it, but seeing how creative you all get is just wonderful and so much fun to watch. This series is getting me through a really rough time, I'm gonna be so sad when I catch up. Love you guys to death. Also, shoutout to the most patient DM I think I've ever seen. You rock, Rob. Also also, mate, your marionette impression is genuinely terrifying.
All we need now is for the troupe to perform a play about actors, featuring the party as the cast. That way we can have actors playing characters playing actors playing actors.
Holy shit the idea of letting the players chose amongst types of hardships for the journey is SUCH a great idea! I'm stealing that instantly it is f****** awesome! I think i'll even do that for hardships they might really roleplay through, such a way to involve and satisfy the players =o
"Help me to tell the story by using the skill you think you're best at (or worst at, depending on the player and how much they enjoy playing with failure!)"
I love the switch in character for Greg! It was so blatantly obvious how evil the rest of the party is once Greg started to get introspective while they all joke about the jubjub battle
Damn... 99 episodes of grade A entertainment already. I'm really, really glad this series didn't die during covid, which would've been entirely understandable. Thanks so much to everyone involved in making these videos. Such prolonged effort for entertainment is often taken for granted and deserves a lot more recognition! 👏
Did Rob actually take a punch to the nose in that "I hate actors!" scene? 😱If not, I was mighty convinced, haha! If so, bless your sweet face for taking one for the team 😂
Definitely my new favorite episode. Haven't laughed so many times during one episode in a long time. I like that they're taking the time to investigate and set up traps, but they seem to forget they're gonna be up against the hag of the future and I feel like that's gonna bite them in the ass :(
The group’s reaction to Greg’s crisis reminds me of that clip of the guy asking his friends while gaming “hey would you guys be there for me I was going through something?” “No, absolutely not.”
I love how everything is linkable to the canon epic npc man! Greg and bodger are just copy of themselves when they left honeywood, bob is the player that got stuck in the videogame and this are some of the adventure he lived before re getting consciousness and baradun is kind of the protagonist of this main storyline! you could even make some reference in the epicnpc man series, you might get people curious to know why greg has some flashback of himself in a blooodbath or burning circuses and stuff ahahahahah
Honestly, Rob's laughter could cure depression! I couldn't help but smile when he starts genuinely laughing with the maniacs he has to deal with. You're all amazing guys, please keep this up for as long as possible.
We need to have a trailer for Bodger's tale. Start with Epic music and mountain scenes, cut to a voice in the darkness "You see this Hammer?", cut to battle scene/sounds, "it's rightfully mine." etc etc.
YOU, ROBERT. YOU HELPED SHAPE THESE MAGICAL, CHAOTIC, GLORIOUS CHARACTERS. This was spectacular. This series has been the only YT videos I don't watch in 1.75-2x speed and this was one of my favorites. 10/10.
Thanks for the great episode, it's one of my favorite so far, I think. Respect for Alan for starting to really be Greg at last and for committing himself to learn the real D&D role-playing. And he's setting such a good example to the whole party - it already could be sensed in some subtle changes of their role-playing, their approach to the game and their attitude, but I really hope that Alan's example will influence the other players much more in the future (and in the good way, of course). And eventually all this is happening thanks to Rob - his determination and patience, his passion for D&D, storytelling and role-playing, his positive influence and his wonderful acting performance (sometimes "too good", like the guys well said, and that magical puppet was too scary both at the table and in green screen part). :) So thanks, Rob, Alan and all the guys, it was a wonderful and unforgettable episode! P.S. And it was so funny sometimes too! Poor Whatsit... :)

Let me get this right.....
There's a very clear plot hole left open when it specifically mentions a mask is missing and for this whole campaign, we have had a mask that no magical person has been able to identify but we are all just going to forget about this??
Well ok. I sense a very big biscuits coming up soon.
OMG! You're right!
Who has the mask? I forget, Is it Greg? Is it connected to his spiral?! MOAR PLZ
@@Bilverkr No, it is Baradun
A comedy mask is missing and they got a mask that clearly smiles although wickedly 🎭 sounds interesting
When Greg said "I battle my inner demons...oh a 3. Ow." On the skill challenge I just about died laughing. 🤣
11:17 - One of my rare serious comments coming up:
I was once the pianist for a children's theatrical group who came up with their own play idea. One of the scenes involved the burial of and elegies for one of their friends (in the play, of course). Of the actors in that scene, one girl gave a truly astonishing performance, intensely realistic. It turned out that her pet cat had died IRL that morning, and she was imagining burying that. How professional is this.
Once again the subtitles are a character on its own, "worrying laughs" as Alan suggests forcing the Griffin to fly into a volcano :D
Loved this episode, everyone was great in it!
And how can we forget about elly and brit
@@tonyjugger2945 tbh forgot their names sorry 😕
@@wade4688 oh no don't worry man, just saying for fun :D
It would have been hilarious if after the "healers of the soul with stories" joke one of them healed greg with bard abilities xD
"Clerics of life", absolutely hilarious.
Doctors of the human condition darling
Ahhhh flippin actors! Just wanna punch em but you can't 😉 well actually, I suppose Baradun did 😆
@@VivaLaDirtLeagueDnD I did some youth theatre many many years ago and this episode awoke memories of sway like a tree, move like an animal that I hated doing so much. Thanks Rob!
Great episode as aways! I've been watching since the avernus campain, never fails to lighten my day! I only wish we had more behind the scenes content, like the Behind the Screen episodes
Thanks for the support! We appreciate it. I (Robert) stream a Behind the Screen watch party of the latest episode on my Twitch channel each week on the Monday following the episode, 9am NZ time. www.twitch.tv/roberthartleygm
The guys also reacted, but Rob’s marionette is OUTRAGEOUS. That’s amazing, too good.
I can't believe this has nearly been 100 episodes of this series, I've been loving every minute of it.
Stellar puppet impression as always rob wish I had the ability to become a lifeless limp limbed doll that quickly
Thanks!
I have watch 99 of these episodes and had enjoyed everyone. Can't wait for the 100th episode
Hour long special I've heard
8:53 when you piss of a sorcerer so much, that he opts to punch you instead of using a spell to mess with you. that's when you know he's so mad that he forgot he's a sorcerer
The acting and role play in this episode was ON POINT! LOTS of fun to watch
Loved how sort of present and involved everyone was in this episode, poor Greg. Also loved how Rob's puppet face worked on the guys. XD
Wohoo! 99 episodes of this goodness, can't wait for the next week's one! Congrats to all of you guys and thanks for the wonderful job you're doing with this series! ❤
Although a dark episode I also think this was one of the funniest too. Genuine happiness in everyone’s eyes. Great to see
I dont know why but the hard cut between the highlights from the previous episode where they're all acting like maniacs and yelling to the beginning of the new one where they're all like "Yup. Ye. Alright alright" is just comedy gold for me
Greg uses his pain to deliver an amazing monologue defeating her without getting violent.
99 Episodes and this is still the highlight of my week and still makes me laugh out loud, heres to Rob keeping his sanity long enough for 99 more! Great work guys.
When do I come up for parole?
@@VivaLaDirtLeagueDnD somewhere around episode 500
Dancing Wotsit is the best thing I've seen in a long time! 😂
Bob really loves to play with his Wotsit. 😉😈👌🦴
Taking mental health seriously (and lecturing each other about consent in character) WHILE having a good time and providing top shelf entertainment?? I love you guys more and more all the time 💕
The green screen with the scarf and hat fashion show was one of the funniest ones!! I loved it
I was dying laughing at Wotsit dancing, the costume montage, and the "flouncy" acting. "It becomes a musical" Everyone's favorite words lol! Can't wait for the next episode. These are the highlight of my week :)
"*cold-blooded laughter*", the captions are so hilarious.
"Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime..." That was brilliant! 😆
Rob is the best dm ever. I love this series
Thanks!
Greg let the birds attack him so he could feel something other than emptiness and darkness within himself
Plot twist: Greg become dark god of madness in future, than he travel back in time for being Bob's patron.
The only bad thing about this is having to wait for new episodes! Always makes me laugh. I look forward to the new episodes each week!
I agree with all of what you said, but - S-tier entertainment, please. Not A.
@@Shadow-hm3uq There's always room for improvement!
I'm here for Greg's little "ow" when he didn't defeat his inner demons. Man needs a hug and some garlic fish.
Definitely the best D&D show on RUclips.
I had to pause the video and catch my breath when Bodger did his "did I show you this" to Greg, I was laughing so hard haha.
Rob got eerily specific with the whole pageant mom thing😂
Bodger- can’t remember any storyline elements, but never fails to remember to give an inspirational speech each day
Did Rob actually take a punch to the nose in that "I hate actors!" scene? 😱If not, I was mighty convinced, haha! If so, bless your sweet face for taking one for the team 😂
I was thinking the same!
I almost immediately looked for an explanation for that in the comments here! And I hope that is not a real punch :'( poor Rob held it in, it seems
That's my question as well! I have a strong feeling that it was real
@@MetaSirenAnd Baradun immediately takes a punch to the nose from a version of his hand that just materialised .
Wotsit's little dance is the funniest thing I've seen all year.
Definitely my new favorite episode. Haven't laughed so many times during one episode in a long time. I like that they're taking the time to investigate and set up traps, but they seem to forget they're gonna be up against the hag of the future and I feel like that's gonna bite them in the ass :(
Thanks, yeah, one of my faves too.
I love how Bodgers skill practice with being better at vocabulary has almost thrust him into the play itself. As if it called for him all along
This is such an amazing episode as always!! I love Alan's role-playing here. Also Rob's acting expression skill is terrifyingly good!
Wotsit goes back to hell, talks about the grueling dance routines and Demon's stop crossing over in fear of becoming a familiar to a pageant mum.
I love that Greg, rather than just being a standard gamer's character, got into his role as a real person. Sometimes the pain isn't just physical.
The group’s reaction to Greg’s crisis reminds me of that clip of the guy asking his friends while gaming “hey would you guys be there for me I was going through something?” “No, absolutely not.”
This. 100% this
"I hope it sucks, whatever you're going through"
I love how everything is linkable to the canon epic npc man!
Can't believe next week is episode 100. You guys have had SUCH an amazing series and I'm glad it's going so well. Keep up the amazing work guys
This is a Great Episode . move over baby yoda. there is a new puppet cutie king.
Baby Yoda? Whack!
Baby Groot? Whack!
Whatsit? He’s tight as F*ck!
We need to have a trailer for Bodger's tale. Start with Epic music and mountain scenes, cut to a voice in the darkness "You see this Hammer?", cut to battle scene/sounds, "it's rightfully mine." etc etc.
Alan deserves an Award for his passionate Roleplay! :D
Greg after bodgers inspiring speach. "I'm inspiringly gutted." 🤣 🤣
10/10.
Marionette appears again... with his wooden grin.
BOB: oh god... that FACE
Me: **shudders!** same 😳
Love Flouncy Bodger, btw. ❤️😂
I'm just waiting for the moment where Greg forgets his line and we just hear a "Moma?" from backstage
"Luckily you always succeed." 🤣
Thanks; one of the best episodes 😀
Thanks for the support!
I was NOT expecting the Wotsit dance and Bob’s Beauty Queen mom persona. Brilliant!
Ahh classic DnD. You and your friends are going on a fun adventure and then experience an existential crisis for 6 games in a row.
They break each session into multiple episodes, so probably not 6 whole games.
@@vijayanand6650 who knows what will be in the future xd
I want a d&d group like this where nobody takes it too seriously and everyone just has goofy fun while playing the game
It's okay Greg, my inner demons are winning too.
Word.
I exercise everyday.
Mostly my personal demons.
They are getting quite fit
7:46 There actually is a "Life Domain" for clerics, so that's a little confusing.
The Sequel to Baelin's Route has to be the dolls! "Mummy!"
I just love how much FUN everyone was having during this session
