My wife has had her 2022 Nx350 now for about 3 weeks and one thing we both LOVE is the digital doors. I know its a love or hate thing but if im being honest it feels modern and yea its different but everyone who has seen the car literally picks up on it sometimes without me even saying anything including MY GRADMA. So I dont think it is too much of an issue. I think more cars will adopt this technology love it or hate it.
Great review! I've had the 2022 NX 250 Luxury for a couple of months now. I love the styling, refined ride and infotainment system. It's so peaceful to drive. With the lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control the car drives itself. I opted for the luxury package with the two-toned interior rather than the F Sport, and I love it. Currently the run-flats don't bother me, I think the luxury package comes with double-paned glass that helps keep things extra quiet. Will see how I feel once I get a flat tire! I like the paddle shifters for downshifting on snowy windy mountain roads, but wouldn't use them otherwise. Handles great in the snow even without snow tires. I like all the cubbies under the trunk space. The door handles don't bother me at all. What drives me nuts is that when you use Lexus assistant and Siri for directions it doesn't mute when you are on a phone call, and it doesn't pause your music it just talks over whatever is playing in the background. Maybe that will be upgraded with one of their open air technology updates. Overall I'm loving the car!
My last uber trip on same car. Driver was young man, he was driving fast and sometimes risky. Rear passenger seat is smaller and not so comfortable. Sporty tires and suspension are stiff and feel every bump. Engine is very responsive, fast transmission, very sporty feel. Absolutely this is good alternative to BMW 3. Gear shift same stupid like in Toyota Prius
I've had the nx 350 F Sport. The door handles are actually pretty slick. And goes with a security for passing vehicles and bikes. It's just something that people are not used too. But once you use it often you don't even notice. And same as tye shifter. At first drive I was frustrated with it. But as I drove more it's second nature and don't even think about it.
F sport is about appearance, suspension and wheel upgrades no need for big exhaust tips for a car that’s not making tons of power lexus got the F sport package correct. I disagree with the number one “dislike”. With the way the F sport package looks in my opinion it’s a must have on this vehicle.
I agree with you on the shifter. It does NOT have to be that complicated to use. I jumped into a newer BMW X6 to move at work and was wondering why I couldn’t find the park (P) switch. Turned out it was a 2 NANOMETER BUTTON on the already confusing shifter. Either have a traditional gear shifter, rotary knob, or 4 buttons for PRND. It don’t have to be this stressful.
@Jermaine C its not that it's hard to use. It's the thing of making so simple as a physical shifter in a gated pattern that they had to make unnecessarily complex. Doing too much for something so simple. If ur car battery goes out and u need to put ur car in drive, how can u do it with an electric shifter? Also u know how much it's gonna cost if it breaks? None of those problems happens with a physical gated shifter
@@blackice7408 bruh this is Toyota and Lexus I'm sure they got away in the manual for you to put that card in the drive if the battery is so having to be dead... Awesome job you did Nathan on the good and the bad of the new NX. I really think the hybrid trim is the sweet spot on the new NX. I wish the F sport package was offered on the hybrid😁
Nathan, your mum still loves you. Just ordered one of these for the uber side hustle so will be interesting to see how much of a pain the handles are, possibly a good sobriety tester.
YES! Yes, Nathan. Everything you said about this crossover, and I mean literally EVERYTHING, is ABSOLUTELY TRUE! My wife just traded her 2015 NX200t for a brand new 2022 NX 350 Premium. She loves it, I hate it and luckily it's not the other way around. So here are couple of additional dislikes, 1. The car feels heavy. The previous model my wife drove was way punchier. If you switch to "sport" mode while accelerating you could feel car's sudden "additional" power. This one is way more subdued, I can barely feel the different between normal and sport modes. 2. Lane control. Luckily this feature can be turned off but this "Tesla-like" feature that allows the car to steer for you, is annoying. I found myself almost fighting the steering wheel. 3. Another thing that I don't like is the automatic engine-off at a stop. luckily again, this feature can be turned off. The best part about it, it's low maintenance costs, low insurance cost and value retention.
I like the lane control on the highway - the car will just drive itself. But for driving in town I don't like it. You can turn it off or edit the settings so that it's less obtrusive. I agree the car feels heavy. It's not punchy off the line, I guess the trade off is the refined calming driving experience. But yeah it's all about low maintenance costs, low insurance and value retention. Overall I love it but it's changed the way I drive.

@@naveenthemachine sorry to bust your bubble but the new Camry will get a turbo charge unit knowing Toyota they will put a engine that is more powerful and more potent than the current V6. I honestly cannot wait to see the next generation Camry and what they do with it
Decent review. I do want to say that the shifter is basically the same as a Prius. And you don't have to use the park button either. Just stop the car and turn it off. It goes onto park anyway. I do love that blue!
I think that the gearbox is ok. It is only one sideways movement, it takes the same time, and even shorter than in a traditional gearbox. I tested it, it does not cause any problems in use. In Mercedes, the system also cuts, it recognizes commands differently, it's like with tests in other cars, sometimes it works better, sometimes worse, Google in android auto also fails ... let's face it, it will probably never be perfect. In my opinion, tires are also bad, fortunately, you can always change them, and the lack of a spare one, well, I don't have one in the car so far, you can survive. Handles... we'll see, for sure the motif of opening the door inside is more intuitive for me than the handle. The handle on the outside, on the other hand, I would also prefer a regular one, but it is still a much better idea than the sliding handles. What dk head up, in my opinion, the criticism is unfounded because the system was probably created for people who drive a car on a daily basis and buy a car for years, not only for testing. I'm trying to buy nx, and I don't consider it a disadvantage, sometimes even with traditional buttons you can get lost. It remains a matter of getting used to the car, there is no ideal, and if you don't like it, there is always a choice 🙂. It's a pity that they didn't put in traditional clocks, I don't like digital indicators in any form. One screen is enough.
Thank you. This review moved NX350 hybrid from top to middle of my next new car list. I liked it so much because it didn't have ugly tablet with wide bezel stuck on dash look of Rav4 or most of new cars but Door handle and gear selector, which will be used the most, are big negative.

Audi BMW and Mercedes make better vehicles in this segment TO DRIVE.....NOT TO OWN. Repair maintenance and breakdowns are guaranteed on those brands, and are guaranteed to not happen with the Lexus over the short term and long haul.
@@naveenthemachine I LOVE just about everything that Genesis is coming out with. I'm a Honda guy so I love the Acura as well. It depends on how long you plan on keeping your vehicle. From new to 100k miles, the Genesis will be fine. After that I believe (being Hyundai's luxury brand) they will start to fall apart and have breakdowns and gasket leaks and annoying things like that. Plus their resale value will tank. Also Genesis' dealer network is sparse. There aren't very many around. Acura would be fine over the long haul although they have had some glitches in their electronics as of late and are still working to get those rectified. I'd still trust that brand over Genesis long term. Lexus is king when it comes to durability reliability and dependability. Plus by far the best dealership experience of ANY BRAND on the market. They take care of you. They are a consistent and proven brand. But if you only plan on keeping the car a few years and trade it before 100k then by all means go with the Genesis if you like it. They are gorgeous! A little pricey though.
Love Nathan's reviews. That door latch system looks stupid. Why do they think they need to re-invent the wheel? A simple door latch is all you need. Why do we need all this computer controlled crap for something as simple as a door?

Audi BMW and Mercedes make better vehicles in this segment TO DRIVE.....NOT TO OWN. Repair maintenance and breakdowns are guaranteed on those brands, and are guaranteed to not happen with the Lexus over the short term and long haul.
@@gabevillarreal96 genesis and Acura do both of those to DRIVE and to OWN better than Lexus
@@gabevillarreal96 why not own a cheaper Toyota in its top end trim and have your maintenance done at the Lexus dealership?
If you keep it under $45k it’s a decent vehicle.
Love Nathan's reviews. That door latch system looks stupid. Why do they think they need to re-invent the wheel? A simple door latch is all you need. Why do we need all this computer controlled crap for something as simple as a door?
That door handle is ridiculous, Lexus is addressing a problem that really doesn't exist for 99% of regular people.
350h is the best model to buy. By far!
I agree!
@@eleanormassaro5195 Me too! I don’t even look at the other Lexus NX options it’s in a category all by itself.
@@billyrock8305 why not get the cheaper Toyota Venza limited? It’s more luxurious inside more Lexus like styling than this
@@naveenthemachine It has more of a soccer mom look to me. Interior not a nice. Not a Lexus.
@@billyrock8305 you sure it isn’t nice? Have you been in the 2021-22 venza limited? It’s been raved for its luxurious interior more so than the NX
You're not over 6'1 buddy. Every guy likes to think that. Lolll.
I can’t get past the Cylon front grill.
Amazing what passes for style these days.
Yes, well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder
I didn't like it at first. Now I do. Looks like the Predator. LOL
Or the grill from a Warhammer 40K Space Marine helmet. I like it!
For those 5 dislikes, I only agree with you 2 points. The missing spare tire and complication of the on wheel buttons
i like new door electric opener
This looks so much like the 2nd gen CX-5 from the side...
Sensitive review
News news, this just in: Car reviewer hates change!!!
Just wait until that door handle is covered in ice, and it doesn’t work. 🙄
Totally agree.
Love your quick review Nathan. I am disappointed with Lexus NX as it’s smaller and expensive compared to the German SUVs .
I predicted this would be a disappointment and you just proved I was right
@@naveenthemachine ok.troll .
I saw the 450h+ version at Fashion Island...the doors completely threw me off too, lol. Not sure what Lexus was thinking...lol.
LEXUS NX 😎👍🏻
All that would be a bit complicated for most Americans.
None of it is rocket science in the real world.
That front grill is just hideous! Seems they’re competing for the largest grill today. It’s absolutely ridiculous and obscene. Ridiculous how the doors open. Really makes me appreciate my 15’ MB ML350 (last year it was made). I have style, power, handling, comfort, and so much more. My 7 year old Benz suv puts this to shame..
My MB also has 19” wheels, which actually seem to be a nice balance for ride and handling.
I liked last year's rear end better
Agree with run flats and no spare being a bad idea. The door handle thing is a total gimmick. Heads up display should be part of a package.
Nah I will take the GV70 over this , I wish GV70 has the NX seats design though
The gv70 has objectively mopped the nx off the floor before it was even unveiled to the world
From a value perspective, why wouldn't I want to own an RDX, GV70, or even the highest end Sante Fe? Asa Lexus owner, I don't see the value. And the subscription service symbolizes greed vs cooperate appreciation of choosing a Lexus.
While people say this isn’t really a direct competitor, I would personally take a Camry with the v6 over this
@@jp23baz33 i have driven it. It’s called the Toyota RAV4. Literally the exact same vehicle just with a different logo on it. Same noisy engine same 8 speed, same suspension design and tuning.
@@naveenthemachine lol same engine 2.4t I think not.
@@nickiannotti5632 the 2.4 is now in the highlander too for 2023
@@naveenthemachine yea for 2023 and the rav4 doesn’t have the 2.4t. So you saying oh their the same is BS. Know one cares if you were right when the nx came out. Who cares people will disagree with you and some will agree. Stop trolling through RUclips 24/7 and get a life. You might actually make money if you get a job and can actually afford something like a nx350 instead you have Camry and trying to compare a sedan to a luxury crossover is laughable.
You sold me! Not for me!
Your dislikes are very minor, it just takes getting accustomed to them.
The dislikes don't bother me😏..
Terrible SUV
when 18 inch wheels are the small size on an off-road car you done goofed up...
I'm a huge Lexus fan but I'd take the RDX over this.
I’d take any other Asian suv over this. RDX CX5 gv70 etc. but imo I’d take a Camry XSE v6 over any nx.
@@naveenthemachine I kind of like the TRD Camry V6 personally!
@@gabevillarreal96 the TRD is fine if all you care is about a v6 and nothing else. But I personally value v6 and luxury so the XSE easily wins. Plus the XSE v6 xle v6 feel more refined and luxurious than the nx. The nx just feels like a dressed up rav4 but the Camry w thr v6 in high end models feel more like a lexus than a Toyota
@@naveenthemachine I love the look of the TRD csmry and I love the v6. I'm not a big fan of the looks on tbe outside of the xse personally and the camry's interior even in top trim upon closer inspection is a sea of hard plastics with a few soft touchpoints. Not luxurious to me. It's still a camry which I'm a fan of but not for luxurious reasons. Similarly, I'm not a fan of the TRD camry for sporting intentions because its not. It just has a good look for a midsized family hauler especially with the white exterior red interior combo!
@@gabevillarreal96 well the TRD has more hard plastics inside. The XSE xle have soft upper front and rear doors both with a soft center insert. Thr TRD has hard uppers in the rear and hard inserts in front and back.
But I like how Toyota made parts of the plastic red. And the nx also has hard plastics too so it’s not like the nx is drastically nicer
I love that color of blue. Door handles...meh. Not a fan of turbo engines. Could be a problem with ags.
Yes I love that color too! I wish it was offered on the non-F sport models
Nathan considering the nx is not even a class leader or even class competitive despite being brand new from the ground up, I must say I’m pleasantly surprised you even like the nx that much.
That said, if Lexus had benchmarked their NX against the LC500 and made it like that, then my comment would be completely different with nothing but high praise for it.
Ok naveenthemachine .nx is comfortable luxurious well bulid excellent exterior good drivetrains plus better than so called genesis so please be real.i mean how can a nx be benchmarked against the lc500 when its a 120k luxury grand tourer 😠.its like saying mercedes should make the glc benchmarked against a s class .you know how crazy crazy you sound .stop tolling and dont talk shit without merit .😠😠😠😠
You should not be surprised someone else likes the nx just because you hate it you see at the end of the day the one who actually buys it doesn't care about your negative opinion, it's the same way some of these youtubers hating on various Toyota and lexus vehicles does not affect their sales at all, like the other day Alex on Autos was basically telling everyone not to buy the rav4, people would still go ahead and buy it
@@Reu_ag agreed .nx does everything right comfortable luxurious well bulid excellent tech and more.but there will be some trolls like naveenthemachine who say nx is bad while people who actually buy will think what are you talking about
@@jp23baz33 agree
@@jp23baz33 he is crazy
it's the Lexus rav4 ?
It’s literally just a dressed up ravR
Lexus rav4 .ok lets dance .vw q4 etron vw a3 vw q3 vw q7 vw q8 vw tt and vw bentayga just a few to mention .
@@ekgcanadianenthusiast9961 the A4 A5 A6 A7 A8 Q5 Q7 Q8 those are different architectures than VW. You won’t find a VW with a twin turbo v8 or the zf 8 speed or the Audi Quattro system. those three things are different than VWs mainstream engines transmissions and their 4Motion AWD
Fire 🔥 Tommy, he sucks! Nathan, you’re old enough to have some perspective, which is really why I love you middle aged guys. You’re old enough to remember what a quality vehicle is. This new Lexus is crap 💩.
I warned you all the nx would disappoint and sure enough it did. Thanks for finally saying I was right 🙄
Materials look cheap for a Lexus. Fake leather, plastic dash. Why are they so expensive? If I can buy a hybrid prius for 27k maybe add 8k for the suv form, should be 35k for Rav4 version of hybrid. Maybe 38k for NX.
I think Elmo who’s saying I’m trolling can answer that for you 😆
Imo a Camry XSE v6 is way better than the nx
@@naveenthemachine oh you are here.👍
outdated car. no reason to buy in 2022.
You just helped my original prediction
The nx was already dated the second it got unveiled to the world.
I hate the gapping massive ugly front grill a Lexus signature design on the whole damm product line.
Its a bottom feeder mouth.
Great review!
