I just love these comments. People do not understand that Yip Man simplified his Wing Chun so his students could learn it faster. He even simplified it more from teaching in China and then Hong Kong. Had Yip Man not done this, his Wing Chun would look very similar. It depends on what you prefer, learning it faster or taking longer to learn more movements. Neither is better than the other.

Yuen Kay San's family was wealthy, so his father hired Fok Bo Chuen to teach both Yuen Kay San and his elder brother Yuen Chai Wan. they later engaged Fung Siu Ching to teach them and a few other friends. Fung Siu Ching learned from red boat actor Dai Fa Min Kam. Fok Bo Chuen learned from Dai Fa Min Kam and Wong Wah Bo. While Dr Leung Jan learned from Wong Wah Bo and Leung Yee Tai.

Very well said. Personally I am from the Yip Man lineage (taught by Samuel Kwok), but all the varieties should be celebrated and understood. Not ridiculed. One is not necessarily "less" than the other, just different. And there are reasons for that you would have to literally go back hundreds of years to discover.

Wow, although different from what most of us westerners are used to seeing as WC. It is still amazing and admirable to see the this master perform every movement with such precision and detail, that you could almost see the imaginary opponent that he was sparring with. Great video.

As a practitioner of Ip Ching lineage, what strikes me is how similar the mechanics of the stystem remain despite the branches having superficially different forms. Same structure, geometry and energies. Seeing how he moves, you can tell how good his chisao would feel. Usually when a martial artist of a different style (or bad Wing Chun) tries chisao, it feels like dancing with a robot or drunk person.

@Hiyashi95 Wu sao in most all wing chun families, is meant to guard the heart, not the head. This is lower than I use, however it's is worth mentioning that many people would disagree with you. High level wing chun moves past the chain punching to head and starts to focus on striking the body with internal strikes, lower hand positions deal with this in an offensive and defensive manner.

Dude, are you kidding.... This version of the simple little idea is presenting the martial method of employing Dien Shu Xue as described by the 72 Arts of Shaolin Manual compliment describing Dim Mak. This form illustrates how to gain access to the 11 chest and 6 middle/lower abdominal accupoints causing maiming and lethal damage for a person who can enter past 1.5 Cun into an opponent's body. The Shaolin Conditioning manual teaching one the iron, Buddha & Pierce the Stone palm/finger enable it

Perfect music. It says it all.

this is also Wing Chun, but different branch from Yip Man. originated from Yuen Kay San who learned from Fok Bo Chuen and Fung Siu Ching. Yip Man's teacher Chan Wah Shun learned from Leung Jan. Fok Bo Chuen (bodyguard), Fung Siu Ching (bounty hunter), Leung Jan (doctor) are real people whose existence can be traced. but how and who the 3 learned from cannot be proven, except that the masters are red boat opera troupe members. beyond that are myths and legends and folk stories.

There some people who just dont know their wing chun and comment. Ip man did not invent wing chun and is not the only lineage. If you are only focused on the movements and not the skill this master obviously has then you seriously dont know what you are doing and you are just doing the movements robot fashion and I bet anything when you spar you like just throwing out punches and calling yourself a wing chun master. Cant believe you cant appreciate this great master's skill here.

'Yuen Kay San'- Wing Chun certainly gives a good flavour to Wing Chun Kuen as a whole. Although, the position of various hand techniques are different from Ip Man's(my Great Si-gung),but still follows the main core principles of Wing Chun. It is refreshing to see a different expression of the same form。

More evidence that Wing Chun has many branches. The higher level of many technics have been shaved off to simplify the forms of most modern Wing Chun. Visually this form shows understanding of a more complete Sil Lim Tao (no offence to any systems)I am not of this style myself.

Everyone who says something wrong about his hands position, actually he's the wrong here. And you know why ? Because the hands are not that much important...Of course they play a primary role in the fight but without clear mind and good sense you can't do anything in the fight,o matter where your hands stay.I am a Leung Ting follower(Wing Tsun) and I respect every other branch of Wing Chun nad we're all the same !

Not "questions" persay everyone's forms are different with each interpretation. Too many WC people are fixated on what is "right" or "wrong" and not focused on seeing what can be obtained from the different approach. As Wong Shun Leung once said, "Too many people are deathly afraid of questioning what they already know or making even slight changes. This will not allow Wing Chun to grow or evolve."

nice and different thats what makes this world a beautiful place...deciple Ip Man Moy Yat Ving Tsun lineage...dont be a hater my wing chun brothers.. open your mind..practice what lineage you practice and dont put different lineage's down this is not the way...make friends not enemy's....,and to another comment wing chun does not do sparring we chi sao......sparring only teaches you bad habits...wing chun is not a sport when i hit i hit for real...how u going to sparr when i'am only inches away from your face, and my hands are in your face like glue i'am stuck to you like your shadow you can't get distance from me.. close combat infighting... thats what wing chun is about..1..2..3.strikes at most is all i need...and train for...so for all that speed wing chun out there like i see on youtube videos good luck...no horse.. no structure..no power...thank you for the video enjoyed it...

    • @subwoofer6726

More so too many are fixated on what their sifu taught them and falling into the mind trap of becoming too bound by the mechanical movements. They are settled in their methods and ways, and that's the end say all for them.

@kwansao He has a point. Wu Sao is our guarding hand so we keep it in a more useful position; fingertips just below our chin level. Much of the way this form is done is contradictory to the basic principle of Wing Chun; structure, elbow power, etc. We need to re-examine and keep an open mind. Peace and train hard.

unfortunately this is actually not true. I've taken a lot of time to look at other styles of wing chun. Many, while they look the same, do not have the same kind of structure. They also have differing theories too. Guangzhou wing chun has a very different set of principles and theories then Yip man's line of wing chun. I'm not one to say who is better. In the end it's what is best for you. But not all wing chun work the same way.
