the problem is that everyone assumes too much. you might all want to find a good sifu to explain it to you so you don't go off training for years thinking the wrong things. Forms are not fighting moves. they are training practices to develop proper movements and ways to move. You don't go into a fight and use sil lim tao to hit your opponent. The most advanced kung fu practitioners have control of inner energy, which means that they use different energy than just muscles. We know it as qi or chi. Its not something that you use simply by practicing sil lim tao every day. you must know what you are trying to attain. Its not by simply copying youtube videos and memorizing things that you hear from every guy who calls himself a sifu. People seem to think that if someone calls himself Sifu Bob that he is full of knowledge and you should trust what he says. Absolutely NOT. You should find a real person who you can touch hands with so that you know he/she is the real deal, as opposed to someone who watched a few videos and memorized the forms and decided to make a youtube channel to make money. Using inner energy takes years and is only effective if you have been doing the training correctly. Most of the youtube sifus give the impression that all you have to do is meditate often and do the forms slowly and relax. it's way way way more than that. Again, find a real live teacher who has credentials and not a big ego who shows off all the time. Good luck and take your time. Becoming a good martial artist takes a long time and hard work.

The dramatic music along with the grandmaster's powerful image while demonstrating sil lim tao not only to make it feel more as if empowering but also makes you feel more confident and determined as you keep practicing this form.

This is not a judgment on his form before anyone thinks that. I'm aware this guy is the apple off the og tree and knows more about it than I could hope for in my life. This is the best performance of this I've seen and probably reminiscent of his father when young. That said I wonder if he has a bad left knee. It looks like he's leaning his weight onto the right one. I've been rebuilding my right knee using this form and gung gee and at first it was hard to distribute my weight evenly.......... I used to practice shotokan until my injury and since than wing chun and hung gar have saved my body. Happy training everyone. Amituofo!!

@mcmuffin4151 The reason why some part is done slowly is to build better muscle memory and while you do it slowly you can learn how to control your chi.

When you've seen so many Sil Lim Tau forms on youtube, each one varying in one form or another and you finally find the form demonstrated exactly how I was taught it.

I'm trying to get this into my head so that when I show up for my first lesson I'll be able to double up my understanding of the form. It's nice to have a martial art that benefits so much from solo exercises but I am looking forward to chi sau.

Ip Chun's Jik Jeung after his Pak Sao at end of Wu Sao movement reminds me of Jedi/Sith Force Push. 'Energy is only used at end of the movement.' That Qi Force wave will push you into reactor shaft. Oh mamma!

what did you get out of it? what did sil lim tao do for you? you say haste makes waste. Why? What exactly is the benefit of sil lim tao? Do you know or are you just repeating what you saw from a bunch if youtube videos? do you have a real live sifu who has special skills, or is it just talk. i am not trying to insult you but so many people watch supposed sifus who are just ordinary people who act like they have some kind of deep knowledge but are usually just trying to build a youtube channel using things they heard on other videos. To get a proper start in kung fu, you need a real live sifu who has credentials, not someone who can repeat what he watches in other videos.

Dude people like you are the problem in the Wing Chun community. You gonna delete the master of masters, their father, Ip Man’s Siu Lim Tao too if posted? Grandmaster Ip Ching is my Sigung yet I have expressed nothing but respect and admiration for his brother while you wipe him away.
