My Life At Shaolin Temple
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 дек 2017
- This video is based entirely on my personal experience at Shaolin Temple and I only used my own footage.
I always wanted to do this video and now felt like a good time. I guess you could call this the 'Origin Story'.
I hope you enjoy.
Edit: I just recently changed my mind about my "no ads"-Idea. I realized asking you guys to support me on patreon on every video is a lot more annoying than a simple ad infront of a video.
All I want is to create more and better content and if ads will help me do that, then that's the way to go :)

“Spirituality that is expressed is not spirituality” damn
pthfan712 what does it mean?
baked baNANAS what I think he’s getting at is people that go around and say how spiritual they are. Or post on social media about it are not truly spiritual. If they really were they wouldn’t have to try and convince everyone that they are. Like I said, that’s what I think he was getting at.
@@Rere-rj3ff Spirituality is beyond words and definition, beyond time and space. It is the inherent nature of what you/we are, beyond the ego/personal identity as the body-mind.
Spirituality, as talked about especially in Western misunderstandings of it, is not spirituality, it is not the Dao, but another game of the mind that forms a spirituality identity, which is very very common, and makes people think "they are spiritual".
Non duality, is actual spirituality, and not just concepts, the temporary like thoughts, feelings, emotions, relationships and what not, but actual spirituality, and your essence, is boundless, timeless, with no beginning or end. Pure consciousness (existence, consciousness, and bliss, aka Sat Chit Ananda) is "You", beyond the concept and thought of "You".
This can not be understood, even touched a little bit, by the mind construct. It has to be a direct experience of the life one is. And any human being can "experience the Self", if one is willing to release the dumbed down version of self called "the ego"/personality, to realize the boundless nature of the 'divine', the self, "God", "The Universe".
pthfan712 not what he’s getting at but good western-minded attempt lol
I thought he simply ment that spirituality cannot be expressed

Vaas anime is Japanese do
This could make an incredible movie especially - if it somehow conveyed the atmosphere right. Besides the gruesome daily training and those high-stakes moments of having to really show what you've got under pressure, the contrasting peace and spirituality could be beautifully animated. “Their endless patience with me.”
I imagine that being able to hit students with a stick would alleviate some frustration, yes.
I get that this is just a joke so not to sound like a hack but it's not really frustration or anger that they hit them, it's because in shaolin and even slightly chinese culture people are taught many things including discipline through different forms of blunt force pain.
Not to mention that it serves a different purpose. It hardens the body, and helps you have a higher pain tolerance. You think the Shaolin could be able to do kicks and falls that involve them landing flat on their backs without feeling pain? Anybody else does it, they'll be grabbing the back of their heads and shoulders from hitting the concrete. For Shaolin? They get clubbed in these areas on a regular basis.
As an asian, that stick means patience and way of teaching effectively

What
It doesnt make sense
sounds like the Monk didnt want to explain something he didnt know about lol
i think they just mean that it's ineffable and inexpressable (if that's even a word)
just like how one who is humble doesn't say "I'm humble" a spiritual person explains spirituality as a way of life by one's own example (hence the simplicity in training; "Watch.", "Listen.", "Breathe"), a technique of stillness, instead of as something you do for the sake of expressing it

"Spirituality that is expressed is not spirituality."
This line made a lot of sense to me. It's akin to when you're making a life change, or intending to undertake a large project that you tell people about, advertising it seems as if you're taking the energy and spirit out of your intent. I think in the process of trying to promote and flex ourselves in front of others, that we're really just after the short-term satisfaction and validation that people give us -- not the internal validation and satisfaction that comes from the pursuit of evolving ourselves. Wise words, indeed.

I've played football (soccer for muricans) in -38°C, not the most pleasant experience☺ Actually, -20 is bearable if you have enough to wear AND warm up twice as long because the ligaments are closer to wood and blood vessels are thinner due to a cold.

That was an awesome watch!!! I would love to go study there one day!
Holy Crap! If that isnt Trevor James!? 😁 Glad u like the video man! Big fan of yours!
Ranton loved it man! Where are you now? Ting and I just watched the video! Can’t believe you did 3 years there! One day I would love to go spend a year there!
Well the food there is definitely not as good as what you're used to 😉 But its a crazy place. If you want you can DM me about it on Twitter/Instagram. I'm in Germany right now
Ranton ok!! But clean and healthy food right? Just plain monk food? No laduzi from the food?
Wow, great to see you on this channel. I love watching both of you guy's videos, they are simply put amazing.
"Im still young so maybe i'm not supposed to understand it yet".
So humble and so true. Something westerners have forgotten.
Never learned*

@@thebread9874 don't speak bad about generations u know nothing about...
@@JGriffin5150 what? I wasnt speaking about a generation. I was more speaking about how young people tend to be arrogant and assume they know everything(thats not generation specific, thats just us young people for ya). Ever speak to a 14-22 year old before? Its a whole lot like what you are displaying right now. I'm not even talking bad anyone and I was mostly joking.
there are many things westerners have unfortunately forgotten in the name of progressiveness. Then again, every culture has its faults
One of the interesting things you said in the video was, different monks giving different answers to same questions. This is what happen in real life as well. Different points of views and experiences make us different people.
It would be great if you could just share this experience little bit, although I have no idea whether that experience is sharable on social media or not..
Great work making this video. Your videos make Shaolin temple a real place rather than a western wash of looking at it through a mystic abstraction...
"got in touch with a monk that lives in the middle on no where that practices being the avatar and is one with nature through CONTACTS lol. That's one dedicated monk.

8:54 holy shit, he's amazing...
Evylin Lee who is he?
The Shaolin temple is amazing, full of history and knowledge, I hope that one day I will also be able to see the country of China, as far as I see you had a real life experience and spent amazing moments with Shaolin monks, I hope that you will return one day. Thank you for sharing these things with us, I wish you good luck.✌🙂
