- I get a last minute invite to drive a rare Spyker C8 Spyder at Authentic Motorcars in Redmond near Seattle. Under 150 cars were ever made so I never expected to get the chance to drive one. We go for a quick blast along a local lake so I can experience the quirky Dutch supercar.

Donkervoort is wayyyyy above of Spiker in my opinion. They make incredible cars.

This was so much fun for me to share the car with Sam and his audience. I was fortunate to be able to sell these cars and go to Spyker training when they were new and available here in the USA. I really love to see the public reaction when they see a Spyker for the first time as they are truly something very special to behold in person. I went to the European Gran Prix back in 2006 and seen the Spyker Race drivers drive two of these around the circuit in the iconic Orange Spyker Livery and just fell in love with them, they are beautiful cars, definitely up there with my favourites, I only wish their financial situation would get sorted, the one car i always wanted to see produced was the D10 Peking to Paris SUV. It would be amazing to see what they could produce now.

You can be, I m not dutch, but the Spyker remains one if the truly beautiful cars of the last years. Truly because all the components are pieces of beauty. That is way more rare than supercars stuff. Very few cars are like that.

I first saw this car on Top Gear. This is my dream car. The look is fabulous. Its so stylish without being over the top. Its so much better looking than a modern Ferrari or Lambo. I love that its a manual trans. Thank you.

It`s a propeller b`cause Spyker is a tribute to an old plane cabin...
it should have a boat throttle as well, and the brakepedal in the passenger footwell for good measure... 🤪
Boat????? It's an aircraft propeller as someone whose name I can't spell says too, since, like BMW and SAAB, Spyker was an aircraft producer. HOnestly, doesn't take much research to know that.
I'm Dutch myself and this is the first time I really took a good look at this car. Victor Muller did something right for sure... with age it becomes more and more of a beauty. 420 horsepower is plenty to have fun!

I love the brand.
Love the cars, the brand, but everything else about the brand is awful. Bankruptcy, bad management, stupid mistakes and impossible promises.
I remember seeing this spec at LA Auto Show in 2006. Some stunning cars that year including the Veyron. But that gear lever was just on another level. So cool.

Enough power but not too much and from the drivers seat the view is that of a Riva power boat.

I still don't think there are many cars, even this many years later, that would trump a Spyker for curbside presence. It's that whole sophisticated-but-bonkers ethos and all of the attention to detail in the design. I've seen a couple in person and I can almost guarantee I was late to wherever I was going for the sake of staring at the tail pipes or polished ducting, or the rear view mirror, or the switchgear etc. ad astra.

Good work Sam. I think it's the perfect car for a husband & wife who don't necessarily care about downforce or carbon this & that but still want something a little more unique & more driving involvement than say a Continental or Wraith.

Asia Grill that deal with Koenigsegg is dead. And Preliator was already introduced in 2016-17. Spyker is zo to speak dead and buried.

When you get to Vancouver, you absolutely have to drive the sea to sky highway from Vancouver to Whistler. One of the most AMAZING roads that I have ever driven.

Refreshing change to the 'usual' stuff, decent drivetrain by the sounds of it and all the power that you'd need in the real world. Interior quality looks great too, not keen on the exterior styling however.
The steering wheel reminds you of the Caterham because it's a Lotus wheel. Too bad this one doesn't have the amazing propellor steering wheel like mine!

Cool forgotten manufacturer. They had a reasonably successful race team as well. I got to tour their factory about a decade ago. it was an industrial area just outside Zeevolde.

Did it have the sports exhaust, Sam? Brakes on these are very heavy as they aren't servo-assisted. Amazing fun to drive though, a bit lively in the wet 😅

Every spider owner will try to replace that steering wheel with the propellor blade steering wheel but apparently it takes years to find one.
Quirky good looking car. You react differently for every meter you walk around the car.

This is one of the coolest cars ever made. It is basically a cheaper Pagani. The quality, detail, and uniqueness is unmatched. The rarity is also really high. I think these cars will become very valuable in the future when people finally realize what they were all about
