I've always been a healer. I've been thinking about trying out tanking in m+... but now I don't think I want to try. This is way too much responsibility
Just say "my bad" on mistakes and learn from them, there's no way to be a great tank from start. After a few keys you quickglance the cds and you have a general knowledge on what you can do to optimize routes on the go if stuff goes wrong. Don't shy away from it, tanking is fun :)
Don’t take the start of the video too seriously. Until you’re getting into 22+ or possibly even higher most routes ARE press W and win. It absolutely helps to have at least a healer that you run with regularly that knows when you’ll be pulling big and going crazy, but for the most part you can time almost all the keys with solid consistency pulls. And really one of the main reasons tanks pull big right now is because it’s fun as hell! Start of Fall or Everbloom or Throne or BRH and you just grab 3 to 5 packs of mobs with a defensive up, then start applying CC and your dps players are popping off. It feels amazing. So don’t feel intimidated. Just press W and know where the bosses are. 👍
@@James_Johnson79People sometimes forget that a decent portion of the player base have FUN trying out crazy/harder shit. It’s not always about just DOING something, after a while, just timing a key is boring. Optimizing and pushing higher using everything you have is the next step of dopamine high for a lot of us.
Just remember not every key is a bleeding edge +28. Start with a + 5 and just keeping going up until you hit a wall. Once you hit that wall drop a key level or two. Guides like this I think are more tailored to folks like me who have been tanking for awhile. I learned alot from this video and I’ve been tanking successfully for sometime. The best way for you to learn is to just get in a key and tank it. Dps will try and push you around and dictate the key/route, don’t let it bother you because it will never end, it’s like death and taxes. You will do great! Good luck!
The main issue I have, as a Tank (especially one that does a lot of pugs), is that I don't know everything about every class (I don't really like playing a lot of alts). I'm not 100% sure which CDs are the most important to track (I really don't want to over-bloat all the tracked CDs either). I could also use some info about comp... like which classes lack kicks whereas which are really good at kicks, which classes benefit from additional mobs, etc. If you could make a video going over all this stuff (or even a cheat sheet), that (at least for me and likely many others) would be extremely valuable. Fingers crossed!!! :)
@@ziggs123 is there any reason to track dps defensives as tank at 18-20 key level? I am not even sure all the dps at this level use their cds correctly. (Me as a tank, definitely not pro player at 18 level). I think i will use your recommendation and only track one/two cd per spec. (I haven’t even tracked it yet, because tanking was already overwhelming)
as a tank the biggest issue for me that some dps cant understand that i need to setup and cc as they start bursting straight away and dying cuz of aggro and then ofc start crying.
@@BigDaddyWesit’s harder in pugs with no voice, especially for mid-level keys which may have more casual players. Maybe try having a macro that is just like “/p wait for positioning”

Bro so what you want in a healer in arena and a tank in m+. The amount of “my bads” I hear on a daily. So now I am down for whatever lol.

Just track the biggest offensive cds from every spec like Combustion, Incarnation, Arcane Surge, Voidform/Power Infusion and so on

This channel is amazing
All of this also is missing a big factor. PUG vrs premade
People pug high keys? That sounds like a nightmare.
@@BigDaddyWes Sadly its the only way I can do keys. Im not in the clique for the M+ group in my guild so pretty much solo everything
