- The snow for this years November is at a record high in this area. The best thing to do: embracing it, and keeping on shoveling. Luckily we just got the necessary toys to do so. :)
Hope you enjoy!

Don't forget about a shot of heated punsch in the pea soup. And a squirt of mustard. I usually have my pancakes with syrup (ljus sirap) after I eaten my soup.
I knew we forgot the mustard, but that punsch sounds very interesting! Next time! :)
I would have to can my food for the winter because I wouldn’t be going anywhere in that weather.
Hahaha - my thoughts! Definitely good to have a big fridge instead of a little van fridge.
The snow is so soft and beautiful
It is! The colder, the softer. :)
Fabulous and so fun! Sweet that your embracing it!
Yeah - we love it! :)
In addition to the ärtsoppa, another very Swedish dish is also available in the shop - brunabönor, which are sold in the same type of plastic tube as the ärtsoppa and cost just as little!
Oh nice - I guess we´ll have to try that too! :)
The woodpecker you see pecking at the utility pole probably flies there with spruce cones that he clamps there.
Exactly right! I didn´t know that´s what they are hacking at until I saw a few here doing that. So fun to see!
💗
I enjoyed watching your video yo the end; I am very curious how I would do in this type of weather since I don’t like cold weather.
Oh thank you! :) I´m also not used to weather like this, but.. I think everybody can adapt.
Like ❤️
I will sub when you fix that blower :)
Aaaah... :D
When I was a kid there was a ski slope at the top of the village where you did the grosery shopping. Perhaps it's still there if you dare go down hill sledging/skiing.
I think it still is. At least there is a cross country ski path. We didn´t check either out yet, but we definitely will soon! :)
@@lisasomewhere88 About 20 years ago my late aunt walked her dog along those paths dayly, and she talked about a bear that lurked around there. I hope it's fast asleep during winter. 🐻⛷
@@mikaelkarlsson635 Oh wow that sounds a bit scary. Glad it seemed to be no vicious bear! A neighbor just told me he came very close to a bear not long ago. But he confirmed that now they are in deep slumber. :)
Its a bit missleading that it dont snow that much in november, while its true, there is a caviat. Its late or early winter.
Early winter often happen in late october with massive snowfall, by the time novembet comes around the snowfall alreddy slowed down.early winter is not that common, it happen in 2009 and 1997 (and possiboy some years i dont remeber), but its fariky regular, say every 10 yesr or so.
With late winter it might not even come untill mid december some times later.
But for the snow to come in november is much more uncommon.
To me it looks like a early winter when the snowfall have been delayed.
Early winter typically comes with a warm cristmas, where the snow often (not always) melt away, folowed by a really cold janaury. And then typically a late spring.
Proboly will cellibrate eastern in snow this year.. while rare, not u heard of
Oh those are some interesting weather patterns! It looks like there will be a slightly warmer period coming right before Christmas, but hopefully not enough to melt it down so much. Let´s see how cold January will be.
@@lisasomewhere88 looks like it will be really warm in 4 days. Like it getting colder and colder now, and then it will just turn over to be really warm. I kind of think the snow will not survive that.
Looks like you both got the hang of x-country skiing and tobogganing. ❄⛄⛷🏂🌨 Have fun this winter! Jenny USA
Thank you - we will! :)
If you want to feed the birds out of your hand, covering your eyes might help. The forward-facing eyes of humans remind many animals of predators!
Thanks for the tip! I´ll try that! :)
thats not much snow
Maybe, but for this region and it being the beginning of November it was. :)
I usually eat my pancakes after I've eaten my pea soup. If you didn't already try it, try putting a little blob of mustard in the soup, on the edge of the bowl or so. The pancakes looked, at least from the short glimpse I got, pretty Swedish, ie a lot thinner than American pancakes but not paper thin like French pancakes.
You might not believe it, but cross country skiing is a sport many Swedes, especially up North, follow on TV. Oh, and if you're completely out of your minds, try signing up to Vasaloppet. 🙂 90 km cross-country skiing, with hot blueberry soup server in all the pit stops. I guess it's too late to sign up for this years race though.
Waxing skis is a complex science. And since the right waxing can be the difference between winning and not even finishing in the top 10, there can be a lot of secrecy around it.
Thanks for shedding light on some things! :D We heard about the mustard, but didn´t have any unfortunately. Hehe, the pancakes I made roughly how we made them in Germany - like that stile so much better than the American ones..
Haha, my family watches the Biathlons in Östersund every weekend. 90km trip - that would kill me! :D The blueberry soup sounds great though!
Interesting about the waxing! I guess we´ll just do trial and error.. :)
