  • We had a bit of a scare this week. Well actually two. And one big realization that might disappoint a few people.
But it is definitely not getting boring in our little cabin in the woods. :)
And the holiday season has just started!

I just googled "Lights Over Lapland" and they said that what an aurora looks like depends upon the quality of your night vision, which may be different to the person you're standing next to. It's not necessarily age-specific, but more due to the health of the eye. This may be due to night blindness to color. Using a camera at night can enhance your color vision. A camera at night can absorb so much more light in one image that they become an invaluable tool for aurora watchers. I love how you decorated your Christmas tree. Looks wonderful next to the wood stove fire. Happy Holidays!

When a person needs to get creative they make Christmas ornaments. Looked a little frosty. We are very lucky as we usually have lots of snow and very cold temperatures but not this year so far. It actually rained yesterday. Take care.

Mittens are warmer than finger gloves! If it's really cold a pair of gloves inside the mittens

  • @kentolov

You can driva a car on that ice.

You have to shake the christmas trees much harder to get the two chipmunks out.

Sometimes you can see them more intense and also with intense colors. It depends on the days. We've had some in September, they were pretty strong with a high contrast. The last weeks, if we saw some, they were really weak and not so intense. I guess it also depends on the visibility, clouds and so on

As a swede I thought it was a bit cute how careful your were with the thickness of the ice :) You can easily walk on 5 cm. You had like 30cm at least! Great videos!

wait... you are renting this house, so wasn't the stuff in the garage like, private things of the owner, not to be touched and definitely not to be thrown away?

The term nisse may be derived from Old Norse niðsi, meaning "dear little relative". google Nisse in wikipedia

The vanillekipferl look great! I haven’t had those in years. I’ll have to try making my own soon.

That advent calendar looks like a definite upgrade to those of my childhood in the 70s and 80s! Santa's little bearded helpers are frequently called "nisse" (singular) or "Nissar" (plural) in Swedish.

Hmmm.. shaking your tree inside rather than outside.. i hope no bugs got shaken into your house!

  • @TheBergmark

Interesting, i see the nordic light often and for me it is clearly green but I don't see the pink colour so much.

A little too intense on the ad-s showing up. I am at
