"If it ain't fixed, don't broke it!"
- Jack Perkins 2021
😂
I love Perkins Engineering's mantra, "If it ain't fixed, don’t broke it!" Love your work Jack! 😁
What’s the word for a typo but when you say it? 😂 I may have said it wrong but it still works !!
@@perkinsengineering A speako? a spoko? maybe. LOL
@@perkinsengineering I thought that’s what I heard you say, I had to rewind 10sec and listen again, yep I heard correctly that’s what jack said lol, love it 👍🏻 thanks jack 😆
@@peterlogan706 Gotta love "Larry's Tower of Power" ! Legendary Stuff !
Another great vid Jack. Cheers. Congrats to LP for his Queens Birthday award, well deserved. I purchased a car off the great man in the late 90's and he was a gentleman even though I was probably too scared to haggle ! It was a VS Berlina and even though it was just a V6 daily I was a bit chuffed to buy a car off one of my childhood heroes !!
Doing any work on the current spec Supercars looks like it’d be a fair pain.
The evolution of the platform is a lot of fun to see.
Awesome stuff, you should be on prime time. Keep up the good work fellas.
EXCELLENT VIDEO - gives us an indepth perspective the grandstand punter never sees...keep it up please Jack!!!
I'm 60, your dad and you are an inspiration, thanks Jack
"Don't fix Don't broke it" 👍
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Awesome video Jack!
That’s it!
This is a trip down memory lane when Australia was awesome. Thanks for taking us back.
I get the safety reasoning but when you look at the VF it really has little resemblance to the road car where as the 2 other cars do and are much more appealing in my view. It nicer to see an actual road car turned into a top notch race car rather than a purpose built thing with just body panels
Yup, the ol "win on sunday sell on monday" saying doesn't really apply anymore thats for sure.
I get what you mean, but I think of all the changes that were made, the fuel cell moving forward was the most vital. I don't think anyone wants to see a repeat of Reindler's 2011 explosion on the start line.
Your a natural mate. And my favourite type of bloke, one who respects a great dad, racing, and Australia.
An episode on the various fasteners used to hold panels, wiring etc would be interesting.
Thanks for sharing this very interesting history.
Very interesting. Thanks Jack.
Very interesting. Thank you Jack!
Thanks Jack. I really like that you number each video (EP 10 etc), makes it easier down the track if you want to come back and watch them in sequence. Congrats to LP on his latest, much deserved award.
Great Video Jack so well explained
Jack great video and explanation - thank you - Regards
Perkins Engineering Larry was famous for sticking with the Holden engine for a long time after everyone else went to the chev, could you please go in depth into what Larry did to the old holden engine to keep it alive and competitive ? anyway keep up the great work, enjoying your videos, thank you for sharing.
Yes this has been covered off in a few articles over the years and will also get covered off in our Perkins Engineering car book with V8Sleuth. We will aim to get an episode together on this when the 1993 engine is on the dyno 👍
@@perkinsengineering awesome! thank you, there's still a lot of secrecy in regards to the old holden motor and it being the engine in my first car (vh ss commodore) i have a lot of love for it and always try to learn as much as i can, Larry stuck with it for a long time that to me gains him mega respect!
Thanks so much Jack. Great informative videos. Good to see the insides of Perkins Engineering.
Great video Jack ! Keep them coming.
Awesome to see and learn about!
Favourite part is the water bottle on the VY an engineering marvel 😁😁
This and the rear end video have been the most eye opening! Well done on these vids Jack!
Fantastic video very interesting "Great Job"
Thank you very much!
Great clip. Thanks for taking the time to make it.
Love the Videos , showing how history should be kept up and running
Nice work Jack. I love your dad Larry. A living Legend who knew how to drive a race car properly. Much respect man.
Interesting content keep it up
That was awesome Jack. Great info in laymans terms.
Another great show Jack!!! Please keep them coming mate👍
Keep it up jack
A sound comparison between the three cars would be awesome
There's no comparison to the old school touring cars. Unbeatable!
Who did the welding on that fuel tank bracket? Perfection!
That’s done in house by our fabricator Travis Langman 👍👍
Great vid series fellas. Cheers
Nice one guys love it
Thanks Jack! Love the channel! The early 1990’s Castrol Perkins Commodores were my fav V8 touring cars
Thank you so much for the insight, it's greatly appreciated.... Congrats to Larry for his award
So cool to see a side by side comparison of the evolution.
Very interesting program
Great to have these nuances explained. Thanks Jack.
thanks so much Jack love your vids so interesting
Looking forward to future vids, cheers for showing us.
93 car is by far my favourite
Great Video Jack. Great to see the engineering side of fuel system. Look forward to the next video
Loving these vids Jack! 👌
Very interesting.
Awesome video once again. I really appreciate them. Cheers PE 🇦🇺
Thanks Jack, well presented. Three very nice clean cars and so good that they survive.
Awesome Jack. Thanks.
Well done Jack, it’s great to see the inner workings of these cars. The workmanship & attention to detail is outstanding 👍🏻🇦🇺
Jack, brilliant stuff mate, and keep the videos coming, these are definitely the good old days of V8 supercars, THE BEST 🇦🇺👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Jack, very interesting
Loved the video thanks Jack
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cheers to Larry on his Queens birthday Honour award.🍻
Thanks for the insight, keep them coming
Really loving the content on this channel. Cheers from the Texas 👍
This is awesome, thanks Jack, loved your ep on v8 sluth podcast btw
Thanks 😊
Thanks Jack, very informative
Awesome vid. Great explanation as always. Congrats to your dad on his Queens Birthday award- well deserved.
Thanks Jack, yet again some great content on these vehicles. And congratulations to your dad for his Queens Birthday recognition - Member of the Order of Australia (AM)
Thanks again!
Jack please keep this up I love watching these vids
Loving these videos…. Keep up the good work
Thanks Jack for the in depth review of the systems. Amazing the change to the cotf, clearly all about safety and weight distribution. Very interesting also to see the change in chassis VP road car to purpose built race car by cotf. Amazing to see.the engineering behind it all
Great video. Thank you. Plenty of information.
Great video Jack! I'd love to hear more about the brakes on these cars also.
Really interesting video Jack. Looking forward to the next one!!!
Awesome work Jack. Love this side of motorsport.
Great description and excellant commentary. Keep these comparisons coming love it.Cheers Stephen. 🇦🇺👍🚘
I love the progression in technology across these three different platforms!
Cheers for sharing mate...
Really enjoy these videos, getting a close look at the systems.
Bring back the road car platforms.
Another great video jack, well done.
Thanks, Jack.
Great video Jack! Thanks again
Well done jack, great videos mate
Cheers anthony
Next video compare the front spoilers/under-tray! Bet there’s a big difference between the old and new
Another great video Jack, always look forward to seeing the next one. Any thought of jackets to go with your new range of shirts & caps?
Yes possibly, it’s all money basically. If we can sell the tshirts quickly we would consider re-investing back into more merchandise for sure
G’day jack,
Great video this will be a great series. One thing I love is the Larry tower of power. What a phrase.
Anyhoo stay safe and healthy man.
✌️. Peace
Cheers Jack and everyone responsible for making another banger of a video awesome insight on the 3 generations of the fule systems, can't wait for the next one 🤙
Absolutely love the history and detail. This is why you guys have been so successful. Great stuff 😎
Very interesting and cheers for the tour👌
Great comparison to see the development of the class.
So good really love these tech videos, thanks Jack.
Great work Jack, loving the content and your presenting style. Once you’re done with the cars, try getting Larry to sit still and do a series of interviews. Subjects could be race stories, workshop stories, driving issues and driving differences between cars, homologation issues and tech stories regarding engine and chassis development. Good luck with your projects, looking forwards to seeing you back on track too
I would also love some insights into the nuts and bolts of the engineering issues, and solutions, especially when you consider the things Larry brought to the series, like his bigger brakes and throttle slides. But he is such a great man, I would even like some 2 minute stories if thats all he will sit still for, about favourite laps, favourite overtakes, scary near misses, squeezing the last hp , coxing the last 1/100th of a second, or nursing the last km out of the cars.
Thanks Jack.
Hey 👋 Would it be possible to do a comparison of the roll cages as well? And perhaps talk about the “Larry bar”? I would really like to understand more about “that” bar. Cheers
👍
Do this with the front uprights
Excellent reviews Jack, keep em coming! I can see a little extension hand coming soon a la Skid Factory & Fullboost😀.
Are there some clips missing from the two early cars? It looks like some hoses were just pushed on.
I'm not sure, the 2003 car is complete and "as is" post Phillip Island last year, so that shouldn't have anything missing as such. 1993 car is still under restoration so there may have been some parts incomplete for sure. All of our fuel hose is just pushed on to Earls fittings so there won't be clamps or clips.
Perkins Engineering
Thanks, that explains it.
Nice bulkhead fittings etc in the VF fuel cell, run in my own race car and look alot more neater
Nice video. I love seeing how things are put together and made. With the COTF spec tank having to clear the tailshaft I assume it has pumps to pull fuel from both sides of the tank?
What happens when the tailshaft breaks?
Yes correct
@@ldnwholesale8552 the carbon box is pretty strong! The tailshafts are a one piece splined shaft so they don’t have universals at each end, when they let go, in theory they don’t leave the same amount of devastation.
Love the old "Big Banger" stuff from the 1990's; the older stuff eh (that's just me, and its more against the way things went)- 90's cars just looked so much like a racecar to me compared to the newer stuff
Show how the adjustable anti roll bars systems work in the cars
We will be covering that off on an episode dedicated to the Front and Rear Anti Roll Bars 👍
Great video Jack. I am keen to see the suspension difference video between the three generations. Is there much of a brake system difference between the three cars?
Stay tuned for future episodes, we will cover off all of this!
Once again you taught me something I never thought of- I never knew they could switch sides for the refuelling- I know different circuits run different directions but I never considered the need for swapping around!!!
Separate question - is the walkinshaw cotf the same chassis you and jc grabbed a surfboard with on the GC??
Yes same car! WR020
This is elite
Yep, the Perkins fuel system certainly looks a lot simpler and easier to fix in race conditions!!!
Progress..... :-(
Excuse my ignorance. What is happening with PE these days? Is it all shut and doing just your own restos or building race cars for other teams?
Great video and thanks for taking the time to make them👍
Sounds like you should be checking out our Facebook page! We are just doing resto’s, remanufacturing parts for cars and engines etc.
@@perkinsengineering sorry been in Northern hemisphere too long
@@brittenv1000 no need to be sorry! Jump on our Facebook page for a bit more information on what we do today!
Cheers Jack on another great video. Curious to know whether you run both pickup pumps from the main tank to the surge or is one a reserve pump like the mains?
No always run both, they are on either side of the tank in terms of the pick ups. Both scavenge pumps always on 👍
