I do think he puts way more emphasys on safety that is needed. I need a safe... all new cars are safe enough, it's way more important to have a good road manners and drive responsably than having whatever safety features.
After buying a Mazda 6, I only used the touch screen the first day. After that, it's never been used, the center knob console is just amazing. No oily fingers on screen.
I owned a 2019 CX-5 Sig, 2015 Sport & 2020 GT Mazda 6 (technically the wife's car), and now I got the 2023 CX-50 PPT, and honestly, I've always loved the Mazda's ergonomics with the infotainment center. It's really an easy system to use once you know where the button placement is and how to quickly navigate through the menus using those buttons and knobs. Hate touch screens...so much cleaning.
@@MrRajee09 are you thinking of the right channel? Another Canada based RUclips car reviewer recently bought a century but they’re from a different House.
So, I work as an inventory manager (and was a salesperson before) at a Mazda dealer in the States. Yuri, your claim of best family car isn't wrong. These sell like hot cakes for good reason. Turbo engine is definitely the way to go as the NA version can feel like a dog getting on the highway. I do understand going for the top trim because it was what was there and available, but honestly, the only big benefit from the Signature (if the new 22 no plastic cladding looks don't matter) is that 360 camera. The next trim down, the GT Premium (just called Turbo in 22) is almost identical in feature set and doesn't lock you into the brown seats and generally doesn't cost as much. That would be my personal recommendation for anyone else since you can get my personal favorite looks combo of the dark blue with the white interior. Also, Yuri, there is a way to get the car to lock after closing the tailgate without having to finagle with anything. If you go into the settings menu and go to vehicle settings and then to locks, you can turn on a walk-away lock system that auto locks the car as the keyfob leaves proximity. The folding mirrors will let you know that it worked. I *always* explain and turn this on for customers when they buy one. Good luck with the new car!
I don't get how a brand like Mazda can sell so well, receive great reviews from car journalists, while also being reliable, and yet they still lose out in depreciation over traditional car brands
@@colechapman6976 I have a few theories. 1. Mazda doesn't have options. The trim levels are your options. So there's not really any personalization that can be done. That results in a "what you see is what you get" form of all their cars which then results in a lack of "desirable configurations" on the secondary market. 2. The utility of these cars (not talking about Miata (I own an ND2) or turbo 3 hatch) and their high reliability means that they don't get recycled through the secondary market. They are used and a lot of the time abused before they make it back into the market as used cars. High miles, spotty service history, etc. So where they may actually hold value you don't typically see because by the time you do see the used ones, depreciation isn't what's really driving their value. Not over their condition. 3. Mazda being a smaller OEM, they don't have the capital to do more frequent refreshes like the larger manufacturers like Toyota or GM. So the cars will stay the same and sometimes be behind the tech curve a lot more often, which may drive higher depreciation.
Wish I had bought my 2020 Mazda 3 AWD from you. Wanted the sales person to walk me through the systems to save me the effort of combing through the owner's manual, he had no clue, couldn't even explain the radar guided cruise control to me 🫤. Luckily I'm a huge car nerd and Mazda fan, so it wasn't too hard to figure everything out.
We had a CX5 and got hit at 50+ mph in the back and we walked away with almost no bruises. We bought a brand new 2021 cx5 non turbo. Top safety pick, great headlights that turn with the wheel and its quiet inside. Highly recommend this to anyone.
Congrats! Mazda is one of the only few in the larger SUVs to receive a “good” rating in that new side crash test also with the CX9. Which is wild, since the CX5 and CX9 have been around for a while already.. Very Proud of Mazda for that. (I am very into safety lol.)
Congrats from a proud CX-5 owner! ✅Advanced suspensions + G-vectoring = fantastic turning ✅Great feedback on the wheel esp. end of turn ✅Comfortable seats, Bose sound & luxury interior (at the price) ✅Traditional 6AT/Simple power chain=less maintenance $ in the future ✅Again, fun 6AT, when competition only offers boring CVT ✅SAFETY! 🟥Soul Red stands out every time. WOOHOO!! Hello fellow CX-5 owner! I own a Dark Blue 2018 Mazda CX-5 Touring FWD Best car I have ever driven (and I have driven a brand new BMW X5) and my car handles like a dream. I will be getting a Mazda in the future
i had a 2017 mazda 3 and instantly recognized that mazda was onto something that other manufacturers should be paying attention to. A relatively fun driving experience, practical, affordable, and great reliability/ quality. Great job Yuri on the CX-5!
@@shaboiisaiah dont let the interior deceive you. Reliability and good looks aint a good thing. You own mazda because it's cool nothing else. Much like a lot of guys 24 to 35 drives a VW golf.
@@drewainge1059 i actually dont own the mazda anymore. Sold it at 73k miles. Then got a 2021 Model 3. (great car!) and just switched to a 2014 Porsche Cayman last month. Not gonna lie, these days most cars on the road are gonna be fine reliability wise unless you’re buying a nissan or some old ferrari or something
Reliable too. Bought the first production in 2017 and now with 80k mile with just basic svc. no leak or problems. Can't beat the nonturbo and classic 6speed trans.
I’m 100% honest here, I’m in the market for a new family car for my 1 year old as well and the cx5 is/was a top contender with the RAV4 and Tiguan and this just sold me on the cx5. It was the most honest review from a car reviewer that actually ended up buying a sensible vehicle they have reviewed in the past. Thank you so much for this. I’ve been racking my brain with options for the past year.
I recommended the exact same car for my best friend. He wanted a car for his wife and his dog, that could also tow a trailer full of kayaks (a side hustle), or he could throw his. Ike or a kayak on the roof. He absolutely loves it, and drives between their two homes in Maryland and Miami. He did go with the red, as it’s beautiful in the Miami sunlight.
Hi Yuri! First of all, congrats for the buy! Second of all, i work for Mazda and let me tell you something: The CX5 turbo is great BUT Watch your oil level often. Mazda Turbo engine are known to E A T engine oil alot
Congratulations. After over 5 years with my 2017 CX-5 GT AWD, I'm amazed how relevant this vehicle still is. I've ran mine about 56k miles with no issues.
I've owned a cx-5 for a few years now. The infotainment system starts up a lot faster if you remove the onboard GPS chip and if you turn off the setting to download/import contacts under communication, I believe. There is also a procedure for turning off the 'auto on' headlight feature if it bugs you that much (doesn't seem like it does).
Yuri - two things: 1. The transmission will not auto upshift in manual if you don’t floor it all the way (past the kick down switch). This is the same for all Mazdas; and, 2. There IS a lock button on the trunk. It’s to right of the handle around the license plate light. There is a small circular button you can use to lock the car. Open the tailgate, and you’ll see it. Says it in the owners manual, too. I picked up a 2022 CX-5 Turbo Signature to replace a 2016 Audi A4 quattro that was totaled in an accident. It’s truly a phenomenal car, plenty of power, amazing features, feels well built (like a class above, honestly), and handles well. 4,200mi since April 30, and I couldn’t be happier! I hope you enjoy yours too!
For similar reasons, minus the knee banging on the steering column which has never been a problem for us, bought a 2018 VW Alltrack. And we have two kids under 5. It now has over 35k miles. We love it!
I prefer the 2021 CX-5 to the 2022. I find that the black cladding, which I usually don’t like, suits this vehicle better. I also like that the front and rear light design in the 2021 is original to Mazda, unlike the 2022’s, which seems to borrow its design from BMW. Finally, I like that the 2021 has separate fog lights. Congratulations on a great purchase, Yuri!
Back in 2019-2020 during the pandemic you guys convinced me to buy one of these... I freaking love it! The worst thing about this car is that the dealership keeps calling me and offering me $10,000 more than I paid for it.
Purchased a 2020 CX-5 for my wife a couple years ago. We both love it. It's got a little bit of pep, but not enough to get you into too much trouble and is so fun to drive.
Congrats! New CX5 owner here, it is truly a great SUV! I was literally in the same boat last year, and also ended up with a soul red Cx5 with the premium package. This thing is so much better than the other compact SUV options out there in nearly every way, 20k miles in and I still love it! It also pairs very well with the red Miata RF in my garage.
"nearly every way," is completely be wrong, be realistic. I own and love our 2019 CX5 (white leather) but it's far from being better in nearly every way.. it's not even close especially with Mazda's quirks/refusal to update old engines, transmissions, and infotainments(including some features).
@@roboticvenom1935 Of the non-luxury options (Rav,CRV,Cherokee,Forester,Taos,Escape, etc) it really is. It's only shortcomings are sheer space and maybe not the most advanced self driving tech and drive train. Interior quality and design, safety, driving dynamics, external styling, standard and optional features, reliability, etc are class leading or among the best. It may not have a hybrid power train and impressive MPGs like the Rav4 Prime, buts it's simpler and easily more reliable over the long haul. My 21 has the improved infotainment and cameras which brings it up to par with the competition, the older ones to your point really do feel a bit old. I think the 21+ CX5s really are truly great and IMO the most well rounded and attractive offering in the very competitive compact SUV segment.
@@jaakoneill It's still much bigger than a car, twice as much cargo volume as a Camry or Mazda 6. If you want more space than a car to occasionally carry larger items but don't need absolute largest space day to day, then the CX5 is great. If you have ever sat in a smaller SUV like the CX5 and also a sedan you would visually be able to see that there really is no comparison in sizing. Wagons are a different story, but my wife hates the way wagons look so here I am with an SUV :/
Nice choice. My wife and I have owned multiple Mazdas over the years and they have all been reliable and pleasant (including two early Miata’s). He last Mazda was a 2019 CX-9. We never found that underpowered in all the driving we did, so this engine in the smaller and lighter package must be more than adequate. I recently got a Mazda3 hatchback. Mine is a fairly stripped trim as inventories were low and I needed a car quickly after my prior one got totaled. It’s an NA automatic with AWD and I I honestly love it. After the first day or two of messing around with the knobs and buttons of the infotainment system, it makes perfect sense to me. I rented a car with a touch screen and found myself taking eyes off the road a lot and on bumpy roads I found it extra annoying trying to touch the right spot on the screen.
Been driving the exact model for SEA for half a year now, and it is absolutely the best Crossover SUV in its class imo, really enjoyed driving it day to day and the interior imo is a step above other Japanese competitors even after model refreshes. Its the first time when I am driving a Crossover SUV and have really minimal complaints. Congrats Jakub for the purchase! All the best for him and his family.
Mazda soul red is such a beautiful color, someone in my neighborhood has a brand new CX-9 and coming home from school to see it shine in the sunlight is always satisfying
My 88yo FIL needed a new car and we got him this, in soul red crystal metallic. He absolutely loves it, and we feel good that he's in an extremely safe vehicle.
CX5 is a lovely car, great infotainment, safe, nice drivetrain and feels fun to drive. The no-touch is really good and more convenient than having to grease up the screen and reach for it while driving, which is not safe. Very good choice, no silly hybrids or CVT gearbox.
I got my wife a 2019 CX-5 Diesel Signature and then installed a big CB radio setup with a quick release 63" flat coil antenna. Its awesome- in black with an upside down 96 Rock front plate.

@@jonlosito2004 i think putting rav4 and mazda in the same sentence is blasphemy. mazda's are so overrated just because "it's fun to drive" and "cool interior and exterior"... all looks no substance.
I bought a ‘18 non turbo Grand Touring a few years back for my wife and child. They absolutely love it and I really enjoy driving when I do. In the higher trims you really are getting near luxury feel all around. All for a great price. Well done!
adding crash safety ratings and structural safety in the car reviews you guys do is a good thing to add. I bought a cx9 and it's been very reliable. the only complaint I have is how slow the infotainment initializes esp the navigation and the resolution of the backup camera.
Earlier this year I bought a 2019 CX5 Signature (Turbo, AWD) and as silly as it may sound, it pretty much turned me into an enthusiast. Prior to that I had only driven either pretty old cars or subcompact economy cars, so having something with a tiny bit of power, style, features was fairly exciting. It's capable and very practical.
You and I..... I bought the 2019 Signature last year. It's a great vehicle. All the issues he explained are right, expect ours doesn't come with a 360 camera. Very impressed with the wide angle backup camera. You can pretty much see left and right well.
I got the 2019 when it was released and every time I get in the car it still feels brand new. Beautiful car got it in the machine grey and the best thing is it never looks dirty 😂
The best family car. I picked a CPOd 2018 Grand Touring earlier this year with almost no miles on it right before our baby was born. Replaced the OEM tires with Sumitomo HTRs and that’s it. It’s been a solid and comfortable family hauler.
The day I found out I was gonna be a father I went out and bought a cx5 grand touring! Had to upgrade to cx9 because I'm 6'5" and wanted the 3rd row but we're a Mazda family for life now
I’m surprised the current gen Ford Escape doesn’t get more love, I have a 2020 Escape St-line X, 2.0L Turbo, AWD, all the bells and whistles and it is awesome!
I know that looks weren't something you were considering, but I think Mazda's have an under-appreciated exterior look, IMHO. Very simple and visually pleasant grille. Subaru's are great and all, but some of the time they overdo it and end up looking like an alien designed them.
@@scotth5503 the Subaru Forester is a bad product anyways, almost as shit as the ascent. Mazda, Hyundai/Kia, or Acura have better options vs the Forester

Tuscon/Sportage all day over the CX-5. CX-5 simply doesn't have enough room in the 2nd row for families and especially rear facing car seats. Was a deal-breaker for me.
I'd have to agree with this. I have a CX-5 and the 2nd row is starting to get a bit cramped for our 2 children. I'm thinking Tucson Hybrid or Ioniq 5 (likely Hybrid as looking for something with better fuel efficiency than my Mazda)
Thank you for really emphasizing the safety rating of Mazda. That was my number one “must have” for a new vehicle. Most other reviewers don’t even mention it.
Hey guys, this CX5 comes with the "Walk-away auto lock function" that locks the car everytime you far away from the car. So you don't need to press the lock button everytime, just be sure that all doors and liftgate are closed before walk away. Other cool feature is to link each key to a memory seat position, so, the car will automatically adjust the seats depending on what key is being used at moment of unlocks.
Love it. Just bought a red Signature trim and only major improvement is the much better infotainment screen. Resolution is a huge upgrade. My favorite feature is the adaptive cruise control. On a 3 hour drive from the dealer I never touched the pedals once. People should learn to use those, would reduce traffic congestion I think. Lane departure might as well not be there, useless. The blind monitoring is working amazingly well though! Love my 2022. Oh and the sound dampened cabin is one of the best I’ve ever been in.
It works fine since you have the car seat in the middle, if at some point you need to put one or both on the side seats, the cx-5 does show its limitation in the rear seat room. The front seats will need to be pushed further up and tall people will only be able to do short trips.
A truck hit ours during a blizzard in New Mexico. Not only were we ok, the cx-5 drove all the way back to Florida the other vehicle didn't make it to the next town.
Nice! I was going through the same process because of my first newborn, but I ended up getting the RX350, because of size, reliability, the luxury quietness.
I have a 2019 cx5 gt. It's great. The only I missed was the hud. I've never felt like the turbo would have been necessary. Great choice, glad you like it.
I have a 2018 Mazda6 Signature and I also took issue with the piano black! I got sick of it after about a year of ownership, and went on eBay to get some stainless steel covers for the trim; only about 80 bucks or so (for the center console and all 4 door handles), and that solved it! Looks so much nicer now and very fingerprint resistant, and the trim feels cool to the touch and even more solid now to boot!
Great thing that ppl don’t know is that Toyota and Mazda have a partnership started years ago where they share a lot of the same parts and even use the same building to build certain models!! So, great choice!
Congrats on the CX 5. The 50 looks nicer (imo) but the CX 5 has a better rear suspension and gets some unique points since it's probably going to be phased out by the 50 at the end of this or next year.
The cx-5 won't get phased out lol, it outsells all their other cars COMBINED. It's literally their money maker. You could argue that the cx-50 slots right in to replace that, but not really, it's more rugged and about offroading. It would be a pretty big risk to just replace their meal ticket in hopes that cx-50 will do just as good, pretty unlikely imo.
Lmaooooo wrong. The CX -5 is a top seller for Mazda and isn’t going any where for several years still. Why would Mazda end a car that will sell better than their other cars and try to achieve those sales with the CX-50. I own a new CX-5 and I didn’t like the CX-50, it’s louder. Think before throwing out silly guesses.
I can't turn off DRL via menu (USA), however there was a procedure involving turning on/off the lights 5x, turning on/off the hazards 5x, then turning on lights on/off 5x to toggle it. You can look it up online for the exact procedure but it might work for Canadian cars.
My wife had one in the same color and it was great. Went EV though when the lease ended last year because we knew fuel prices would be going up as they always do.

The only thing I'd question is turbo reliability, having owned previous Mazda Turbo products (in particular carbon build-up with direct injection). However, everything else is good. No CVT's. No gimmicks. Good size, handling and space. I have to agree.
@@MarTin-ku4lx Oh agreed. Not every manufacturer/dealer has a cleaning protocol though. My Mazda dealer didn't when I was trying to deal with that issue. If this was part of regular maintenance and readily available it might be less of an issue. I do like that some manufacturers have migrated to a dual injection system, which takes care of that issue. Ford, Mercedes, Toyota and even VW (Europe) have this available. It needs to be more widespread.
When i got my Acura, I was actually looking around the Honda boards and surprisingly did not really see any carbon build up complaints regarding their engines considering they use DI only.
I tried to convince my mom to get a CX-5 turbo, or even the N/A one, I just liked the exterior design, love the headlights and I love the interior design and quality, I “almost” feel like I’m in an Audi, but… the only reason my mom didn’t like it it’s because of the size, compared to all the other SUV’s is lacking a good amount of space, for me I’ll get it because I’m only one guy, but I do get her point, hopefully I convince her to get a new CX-9 next year
Since you asked for a "prove me wrong". If you didn't care about gas, then yes you picked wrong. As your Speed Academy friends pointed out in their daily SUV purchase and mod videos, a 4runner is safe, bulletproof, maintains its value, quality long lasting product, easy to work on, and with a few mods absolutely perfect in the power and entertainment space. Most ppl I know who have had a Mazda trade it in for something "more" in the SUV segment. Congrats though and love the color you picked.
I had a 2018 and loved it. The only thing that was a little subpar was high speed interstate driving. The size and whatever else was very noticeable getting blown around by other vehicles or sidewind.
I got a CX-9 because it had a bit more room, but the CX-5 is really nice. I'm surprised at the gas mileage tho. My '19 F150 XLT FX4 gets 12L/100km in the city. I get 10.5-11/L/100km on the highway.
Great choice I own a 2022 Cx5 it's my 3rd Cx5 leasing. Just a heads up you can program the doors to lock and unlock without pushing the black button on the door handles. You just need to program it with the head unit and have the key fob in your pockets.
Congrats on the CX-5! Had one recently as a rental car, and it was surprisingly a great car to drive. If I had to buy a compact SUV, I would definitely put the CX-5 at the top of the list. Though, I do agree with Jakob the infotainment isn't the best....needs a FULL touchscreen, IMO.
I almost bought a 2021.5 CX-5 GT last year (the better infotainment screen) in Canadian market but I am glad I didn't because I got laid off in August. Still debating one of these one day now that I am back on my feet. Congrats on the CX-5, they are great overall vehicles.
I like Mazda. I recommend the ridgeline to everyone. Don’t know if you guys have an episode on them but I’m 6’4 and comfortable, two car seats fit in the back no problem. Storage everywhere. Bulletproof engine, great awd system. We’re often at the lake and you really can’t beat the utility of the thing. I get the stigma but man is it incredibly useful.
My wife has a 2016 cx5 GX and I have a 2011 cx7. Both have been very good and reliable. Im into basic stuff so no heated seats or power seats or touchscreen. My wife has to have the touchscreen for apple CarPlay and navigation.
I have a new level of respect for your decision making skills. You definitely couldn't have picked a better family car. Just like the Miata, you can never go wrong with the CX5.
As someone who's getting a Civic Hatchback Sport Touring (because of you guys), the wait is real. Ordered in March for mid-April, and I'm just getting the VIN and ETA for mid-August
Great choice, Yuri. My niece has a CX-5 and loves it. A good friend owns a CX-7. Mazda just does cars right, but you have to get the Turbo models if you want the power you need for most American roads. Reliable and well designed, they should sell better than they do. In that Crystal Red (or whatever), they are stunning to look at too, fabulous in the sunlight. Can't wait to see Jakob's (Jacob?) choice.
Great choice, but it is hard for me to justify CX-5 over CX-50 with 20 inch wheels after seeing in person. CX-50 stance and design are outstanding in the class. I have always been against the SUV trend, but CX-50 made me consider an SUV for the first time.
Uhhh.....Audi RS6 Avant. Then you take it to MTM, let them upgrade the power to 1001 hp, Akrapovich exhaust, some additional, yet tasteful, carbon fiber exterior additions and tweaks to the suspension.
I’ll try the auto lock walk away!

✅Great feedback on the wheel esp. end of turn
✅Comfortable seats, Bose sound & luxury interior (at the price)
✅Traditional 6AT/Simple power chain=less maintenance $ in the future
✅Again, fun 6AT, when competition only offers boring CVT

Reliable too. Bought the first production in 2017 and now with 80k mile with just basic svc. no leak or problems. Can't beat the nonturbo and classic 6speed trans.
I’m 100% honest here, I’m in the market for a new family car for my 1 year old as well and the cx5 is/was a top contender with the RAV4 and Tiguan and this just sold me on the cx5. It was the most honest review from a car reviewer that actually ended up buying a sensible vehicle they have reviewed in the past. Thank you so much for this. I’ve been racking my brain with options for the past year.
Good luck! Use tsp.truecar.com
Same! I was set on Rav4 but now I’m going with a CX5 turbo
Second of all, i work for Mazda and let me tell you something:
The CX5 turbo is great BUT Watch your oil level often. Mazda Turbo engine are known to E A T engine oil alot
Congratulations. After over 5 years with my 2017 CX-5 GT AWD, I'm amazed how relevant this vehicle still is. I've ran mine about 56k miles with no issues.
Does the car really not auto-lock when you walk away from it?
I've owned a cx-5 for a few years now. The infotainment system starts up a lot faster if you remove the onboard GPS chip and if you turn off the setting to download/import contacts under communication, I believe. There is also a procedure for turning off the 'auto on' headlight feature if it bugs you that much (doesn't seem like it does).
Interestinggggggg
My parents have the CX-5 I persuaded them to buy it actually and it's a freaking good family car.
My wife bought a CX-5 about 6 months ago and we love it! It just drives so good!
Did you use tsp.truecar.com
That Mazda red is probably the best stock non super car color on the market
Yuri - two things:
1. The transmission will not auto upshift in manual if you don’t floor it all the way (past the kick down switch). This is the same for all Mazdas; and,
We love it!
Good luck with DSG
My son and daughter are growing up in our CX-5, bought it when he was 1 too. He's nearly 9 now and she is 3... still running like a champ.
I’ve got a 2017 CX-5, none turbo but not the bottom trim. I love it. I WISH they made a hybrid turbo I would run to the dealership
I own this car (2021). It's fantastic. Congrats! Btw, your mpg will average out to 21. Be careful with that paint, it chips easily.
It’s already chipped at the front. I’ll just repaint it yellow
Get some ppf on it!
We had a cx9 and my parents have a cx5 exactly like this one. Both good vehicles and fun to drive for what they are. Enjoy!
Now I need a Miata damn
@@BenA_DD 'It's only shortcomings are sheer space'. Why get an SUV then?

CX5 is a lovely car, great infotainment, safe, nice drivetrain and feels fun to drive. The no-touch is really good and more convenient than having to grease up the screen and reach for it while driving, which is not safe. Very good choice, no silly hybrids or CVT gearbox.
You say that the infotainment is great ? Really? I find thats the biggest weakness of this car.
Two people in my immediate family bought 2021 CX5s. A carbon turbo and a touring. Both are very happy.

There's a reason the CX-5's sell amazing well... they're damn good cars. Congrats!
yea... i see them everywhere i go. We all do!! Theyre the safest small crossover SUVs ever made in the last decade or less and they should be proud!! Theyre the top best seller and theyre more then on par with the Toyota RAV4

adding crash safety ratings and structural safety in the car reviews you guys do is a good thing to add. I bought a cx9 and it's been very reliable. the only complaint I have is how slow the infotainment initializes esp the navigation and the resolution of the backup camera.

When it's time to actually buy a car to live with, Mazda is one of the best. My parents had a Mazda 5 when I was growing up and it was amazing
Hey guys, this CX5 comes with the "Walk-away auto lock function" that locks the car everytime you far away from the car.
So you don't need to press the lock button everytime, just be sure that all doors and liftgate are closed before walk away.
Other cool feature is to link each key to a memory seat position, so, the car will automatically adjust the seats depending on what key is being used at moment of unlocks.
best feature ever, saves so much time
where is the auto lock function found to turn it on?
I really enjoyed using the adaptive cruise control on a 2020 CX9 that I rented for a trip two years ago!
It works fine since you have the car seat in the middle, if at some point you need to put one or both on the side seats, the cx-5 does show its limitation in the rear seat room. The front seats will need to be pushed further up and tall people will only be able to do short trips.
I’m not the tall at 5’8” but I’ve got enough leg room to stretch and relax on long road trips with a rear facing car seat directly behind me.
Thanks Les
Congratulations, I never thought I would like a mini van but after owning one for 6 months I’ll never go back to a SUV.
Love that Mazda in its signature red color! It really pops while on the highway in the sea of bland colors. Congrats!
I had a CX-5 GS for 19 days while my Forester was getting work done. It was a nice car. The red looks amazing Yuri!

I have a 2019 cx5 gt. It's great. The only I missed was the hud. I've never felt like the turbo would have been necessary. Great choice, glad you like it.
I love my 2022 CX5 Signature. Best choice I made. Better than the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan I had.
Maybe an RDX? IK its more but maybe a used one like this one you could got at a comparable price.
Just don’t like that seat stitch in the cx50
The CX-50 also has a smaller backseat by comparison.
The cx-5 won't get phased out lol, it outsells all their other cars COMBINED. It's literally their money maker.
You could argue that the cx-50 slots right in to replace that, but not really, it's more rugged and about offroading. It would be a pretty big risk to just replace their meal ticket in hopes that cx-50 will do just as good, pretty unlikely imo.
sat it the CX-50, it has no head room (compared to the CX-5).

Just like any turbo engine, they’re prone to carbon buildup which will need to be addressed sometime after 120k miles or so.
I saw your comment about locking.
What I do is I lock the car and then open the trunk. So when you close the trunk the car is still locked
Ya you’re right. Wrong 🙋🏼♂️
I had a 2018 and loved it. The only thing that was a little subpar was high speed interstate driving. The size and whatever else was very noticeable getting blown around by other vehicles or sidewind.
Wife has an outback wilderness. It’s awesome and I like the additional space it affords over the Mazda, but the Mazda is still really awesome.

The interior is so cramped, and the seats are very hard. The new CRV seems more appealing than the CX5.
@@user-ji3il6ce2o Yeah I generally agree with you but I did not want the 1.5T or the CVT found in the CRV.

Bulletproof engine, great awd system. We’re often at the lake and you really can’t beat the utility of the thing. I get the stigma but man is it incredibly useful.
Good pick Yuri, someday when my Miata driving days are over I'll most likely pick a Mazda SUV as a replacement.
My wife has a 2016 cx5 GX and I have a 2011 cx7. Both have been very good and reliable. Im into basic stuff so no heated seats or power seats or touchscreen. My wife has to have the touchscreen for apple CarPlay and navigation.

This is the most, “It’s for my wife, tryna make the best outta of it.” 😂
Great choice, Yuri.
You gonna get a soccer mom car or what?
This is what my mom drives and she loves it. That red is beautiful in person too.
Uhhh.....Audi RS6 Avant.
Then you take it to MTM, let them upgrade the power to 1001 hp, Akrapovich exhaust, some additional, yet tasteful, carbon fiber exterior additions and tweaks to the suspension.
Next, ship it to Brabus so they can do a custom leather upholstery makeover of the interior.
