    Right around the 7min mark, it looks like the tweed you'd cover an amp with.

    The figure in this guitar body looks great the dark vertical and horizontal grain lines break it up and look almost small squares with yellow centers. Looks really nice.

    Love your videos! Regarding dents, many times, you can steam heat them out.

    Awesome stuff ! I like the look of the back even more than the front. It looks like antique furniture, and would be great with something like a french polish and wax finish. Great stain job, just like always.

    Kimball sent also a piece of beautiful flamed ash. I will use it for the back of a semi-hollow, have to find some matching side. 😊

    You have to hit the cedar or all soft woods and a lot of hard woods with sanding sealer before ever applying any stains to get them uniform instead of looking all splotches dark then light! Try laying down sanding sealer before stain you will see what I’m speaking about! That will make you staining look professional instead of high school shop class!!!

    @BIGDGUITARS Did you grain fill the ash? I have an ash body T-style that isn't figured but is a gorgeous one piece that I'd like to burst. Thanks and that one turned out beautifully!

    Hey brother. Do you think Angelus Gold or Honey would have also worked on this? I used those colors on a quilted maple top and it turned out so killer. Of course I learned how to do that from you. Thank you for the videos. I'll send you a pic on IG! ✌️

    Dyes are fun but once I found transparent pigments and started using them together ! Holy crap ! The depths and definition !
    896 UTC transparent pigments , I think are right in your wheelhouse !

      No matches for "896 UTC transparent pigments" on Google.

    • @RussellStClair-cy1vu
      @RussellStClair-cy1vu Год назад +1

      @@benburnett8109 seriously ? I've used them ...then again pre Google .
      May have to go to Universal Tint Colorant themselves . I know you can get them from Sherwin Williams . Not the paint store ! Chemical coatings store .
      They are the next pigment step up from 844's .

      @@RussellStClair-cy1vu not trying to be mean....just could not find any source for them. I am always looking for new methods.

      @@benburnett8109 that's just weird . You'll probably have to talk to a representative . They're the same class of pigments used for oil based paint and stains . Even home Depot has a colorant carousel for paint .
      Might try transparent colorant red iron oxide or another name . Raw Sienna or yellow iron oxide and such.
      I know that Sherwin Williams sells a color matching station . That has trans. Color available . That comes with 28-34 colors and an entire library or colors .

    Can acetone be used to remove nitro from a guitar? Can you use stain over nitro? Can you use tru oil over nitro?

  • @marchill256

    Hello. Have a question? Do you use sanding sealer before you dye? Or just after dying? Trying to do a burst dye on my first guitar.

      BigD goes straight on to raw wood. No s/s.

    That finish looks great, as always. But I'm not sure I'm into that checkered look of the flamed ash, it's kind of "too figured" for my taste.

    Dye or stain. Do they have different purposes?

    • @kennycube5126
      @kennycube5126 4 месяца назад +1

      Yes. Stain will become opaque and eventually hide the grain, essentially pigment sitting on the wood. Dyeis drawn into the wood and will never hide the grain pattern regardless of how much you put on.
