  • Today we fly from Amsterdam to London Heathrow in the PMDG 737-800 testing out both BeyondATC AND also a new program for cabin announcements called Cabby.
Both have costs associated with them, with BeyondATC now over a month since release having had a number of useful updates and improvements issued. Cabby is a newcomer, offering immersive and automated cabin announcements to enhance your experience... but how do they both work, and are they any good?

I'm not an experienced simmer but I just purchased BeyondATC. I think Navigraph is pretty essential for realistic flights and BeyondATC is probably the only other thing I would consider paying for. Like most "AI" solutions at this point however, it seems BATC superficially works well but starts to fall apart quickly. I hope it improves.

I bought BeyondATC last week and am enjoying using it. But gotta admit, I prefer the FO handling comms while I focus on flying (like real life), so I have the "auto respond" turned on. Yep, I'm using British Avgeek as the auto respond voice 😀.

Hi, regards Cabby you had just about every option on, Captain and crew announcements plus dual languages selected too. Basically all the defaults with everything turned on.
Somewhat unfair then to say you were getting too many announcements. I would guess Captains messages off and just crew would probably have given you far better results, additionally the messages in each phase of flight can also can be selected/deselected as required in the settings from their defaults of everything on, so again would have resulted in far less announcements if required after adjusting those.
As regards BeyondATC, for it being early access it's coming along nicely and already has had many updates in a short period of time. They are really listening and reacting promptly to feedback it seems, which is always good to see and inspires confidence in their dedication and support in the product.

With Luke Air Tools you can you activate a feature they call Audio+ with a minimal donation ($5.00) does essentially the same thing as Cabby in addition to the canned announcements which adds Computer announcements for any airline that don't have them.

I ll stick with Say Intentions. ATC is becoming better than BATC , way more flexible and it has navigraph integration. And it has AI annoncements too.

Dont like cabby at all, prefer the actual cabin announcements and safety briefings.. Sounds like a robot.

Nah bruh, whoever thinks paying these subscriptions is a good idea is seriously mistaken. I know AI is expensive but the only subscription I would pay is for Navigraph and I’m sure many others agree. I don’t mind paying a more than reasonable price for a piece of software but now having to be forced to pay monthly payments for premium version aside from already paying a base price for the product is just ridiculous for a flight sim. Regardless, nice review and video. Just my own personal opinion.

I'm pretty sure BATC changed their model to be a fixed cost one for the base system and voices, and you pay for the premium voices
That I am fine with, if you want the higher quality voices, then you cna get them, but it doesn't stop you using the software

BATC can only a fixed cost $30, and it is really immersive. Cabby not so much.

Oh yeah I agree - it's all too costly in reality and I'd rather enjoy Vatsim for free and my favourite aircraft instead with some nice scenery. Beyond ATC changed their pricing and lowered it substantially though but Cabby is too costly

Wish the announcements will sound more like through a PA system and not so muffled

I like Cabby, although ..Its sad that all the reviews I have seen are done with the pro version i.e subscription per month.. I have the basic version in my opinion the male voices are poor one of them sounds like Michael Jackson.. You only get four.. I think the subscription model AI is far too costly and I feel it may fail.. I think its a shame that there is not a fee option for a more basic version of AI to record your own voice as pilot.. However I do like it very much and the designer is excellent at listening and changing things to improve it virtually daily.

I've noticed BeyondATC does not like "niner" (even though it certainly should). Every time I've used it and it has gotten "hung up" on me it was with a freq with a "niner" in it. If I say "nine" instead, it immediately recognizes. Strange I know, but so far has been true in my case.

  • @TheMicj38

BeyondATC struggles to understand 'niner' even though it uses it itself (which is why you had to repeat a few times). They have been working on trying to fix this

nice video, Beyoundatc works not so well like fly to Scandinavian mountain in Sweden there its need more control from human to handle control flights to the airport

Sadly the cabby is nothing anyone wanted. For sure not that price, sounds like quick records from youtube, nothing "AI" in it.

Yep and more and more addons gets wholly unaffordable. For some, one of these products might be perfect but for a lot - including myself - I don't want subscription models for anything beyond a few really key addons like Navigraph

BATC works well until it's gonna decide that it's gonna vector me. Then it's either time to pray or stick with my STAR

    • @RadioLasPegasus
      @RadioLasPegasus 3 месяца назад

Same. Or when it initially tells you to expect an ILS, you set everything up, and then it decides "Nah you get a visual with wonky af vectors that you're now way too high/fast for.".
It also almost never respects Simbrief runways which means not only do I have to redo my entire departure, I also take off with ridiculous cross- or even headwinds.
Add to that the constant failure to understand perfectly correct readbacks and it becomes way too much of a hassle to use. If you want good ATC, just learn the proper comms and fly on VATSIM.

I really appreciate the work these developers do. I am desperate for an ATC system & thought this was going to be it but this is very poor. Sure they will work hard on it so thanks but will wait a while. Don’t like cabby at all.

Batc isnt much ai at all. Thr only 'ai' part of it are the voices, whereas SI is full ai
