I use BATC, which in my experience to date has done everything I need it to very well, and I'm looking forward to the future traffic injection and VFR implementations. It amused me how SI didn't correct your vectoring mistake (you said and flew 060° after SI had given you 040°), whereas BATC corrected a couple of your correct radio frequency replies - one program not correcting when it should, the other correcting when it shouldn't!
I've used both a lot, and BATC is - IMO - miles ahead for IFR. Granted, you have to learn what it expects you to say, whereas SI will use AI to just understand you regardless - but SI also lets you get away with talking in a way that would annoy Vatsim or real ATC. I think SI will win out in a year or so once it has the AI properly under control, but for £26 per month, it just doesn't deliver on IFR yet.
For me personally I will stick with BATC. The main reason is a time issue. I have limited time for simming therefore even using premium voices it is still more cost effective than a subscription based service. Furthermore at this point I am using the basic voices as the product evolves.
I wish SI was more beginner friendly, as someone who is just getting in to this space, I gave SI a 1 day trial and after it all decided to stay with BATC for the time being. Don’t get me wrong Say Intentions is by far MORE ADVANCED but they lack a beginners friendly interface, from the ability to see a hint of what you have to say next in coms, selecting what you’d like the ai to reply back with when the workload is a tad bit overwhelming & also the auto switch frequency’s with BATC, Is what is keeping me with them. With that being said traffic injection is also a big thing I’m looking forward to from both parties, if SI can add some functionality to the interface that can benefit a newbie like me and provide stellar traffic injection they can most definitely have my money.
To me, accents from around the world are a huge factor in my decision on getting both. BATC excels in this area. As I don’t know what the very latest is with SI, I’d like to hear they’re working on that.
As an airliner simmer, Say Intentions has been one of the single most effective addons Ive gotten. I have BATC, but happily paid for an annual subscription of SI once trying it out. Im glad we have options, and the cost of SI isnt for everyone, but I complete 5-8 flights per week and would not want to do it without SI or Navigraph
Great comparison! Looks like there's not much between the two, although I have to give props to BATC for being the only one to actually have Scottish accents. Och aye cap'n!
@Mrv1960 Well if this demo/showcase is representative of the two products, then I'm not seeing the "miles ahead" that you claim. What is this video missing that makes it so much better and worth being EIGHT times the price, PER YEAR? I'm just not really seeing the value right now, even with the latest price reduction.
Great Video, Well put together and your thoughts on these 2 ATC programs align with my thoughts currently. I believe SI will make a Pricing announcement at this weekends FS-Expo!!
Great video thanks for doing the comparison. At the moment I’ve took out a month sub on SI to see how I get on. I’m tempted to switch to BATC as I prefer the idea of a one off purchase rather than monthly subscription. I sometimes fly airliners on Uk routes but mostly fly VFR from say burning blue designs GA airfields. Does BATC cover the GA flights?
I'll have to change my earlier feedback. SI is now at $20 / 18 EUR per month, down from 30. I've started using it and despite some shortcomings (which are fixed almost on a daily basis) it's amazing. Nothing in current existence compares to it. It's brilliant and has boundless potential. I'm sticking with SI, though I may also try BATC at a later point.
Great video edits. I use them both back and forth. They both are at times brilliant then they can both have moments where they leave you scratching your head. Just waiting for the consistency mainly with descending for ifr approaches and taxing. They are both in beta but not sure how long the public will be sympathetic. I would say that if FSHud had better voices, better ui, and push to talk, they would hands down beat them both lol imho. But they both are premier ATC addons for the future. Great work!
BATC hands down for one time price..... The arrivals need a major major overhaul and ability to revise if weather changes.... The arrival is a nightmare for me right now due to you have BATC telling you one thing and then your charts say something else..... The standard voices are fine IMHO.... Sure, the Premium are better but if you're a casual flyer, BATC is the way to go and when the roadmap is complete no doubt BATC....
Great Video thanks for taking the time to compare them. I'm not ready for Vat sim just yet so one of these products is what I'm leaning towards. Am I right in thinking that SI will handle VFR flights for when in GA aircraft? as I tend to fly GA a bit more than commercial flights so it would be good if it handles both VFR & IFR. Do you have to assign a button on keyboard or Yoke to activate when you want to speak?
BATC is very stable and one time payment. BATC also has traffic injection. SI is too expensive for a simple ATC service. I am not happy with SI's IFR service at all.
Are you using the default scenery for Edinburgh, as all ATC packages will rely on good taxi-route/gate/stand data and it would appear that not all airports are blessed with accurate data? It'll be interesting to see whether future airport updates, both in-house and 3rd party, will rise to the challenge of providing good data.
I think that BeyondATC had a better sense of realism, ATC rarely sounded robotic, but just had those teething problems you identified. SayIntentions had better instruction but you could tell the slight AI voice to it. Great video, great comparison, both platforms look great and will improve! Both beat MSFS-X ATC.😂
Do any of these programs have a function so you can see in text format what to say so you can learn the phrases because I have no knowledge whatsoever of how to speak to traffic control?
yes, at least for BeyondATC because each radio frequency has a list of standard requests that you can make, however you're not one hundred percent limited to those listed requests or those exact phrases, you can say it how you prefer up to a certain extent. Simple things like "SouthWest 520 is ready for push and start" is acceptable whereas the standard phrase is "Southwest 520 is ready for pushback and engine start" When it wants you to read phrases back to it, it gives you list of things at the bottom of the panel that need to be said during your transmission with your callsign at the end. For example: you'll see something like this, each semi colon will be a separate box in the program. "Runway 25R; Taxi via V; Taxi via E; Taxi via A; Holdshort runway 08L" Your response can be "Taxi to 25R via V E A Holdshort 08L Southwest 520". You don't have to say "Taxi to runway 25R via taxiway V E A and holdshort runway 08L SouthWest 520" There's different things you can cut out or say differently to shorten it and BeyondATC will still accept it. Overall when I use it, I've had a great time with it, I very rarely hear it say "I didn't get that" And again, if you don't know what to say, just refer to the list on the left side of the panel. It gives you some basic phrases, or if you still can't quite get BATC to understand you, you can always click on the phrase in the list of responses that is closest to what you want to say and it will generate a voice that is simulated to be your copilot responding to ATC with that selected phrase. It's very user friendly in that way. Hope this helps.
@@captainrunngun1181 Thank you very much for the information I will probably buy BATC because it sounds like it is the best option for a newbie like me.
Say intentions is having a big update coming in the next few days That's releasing taxi tuner V3 which will help tax the instruction as well as you can add an end it waypoints so it knows FBOs and things like that
Is it usual, in UK airspace where the transition level will normally be below FL070, for ATC to give you a QNH reading when telling you to descend to FL070, as SI did at around 22:00? Maybe RL would do that, but perhaps I'm a little sensitive to the MSFS ATC approach of seeing the whole world as having the same transition levels/altitudes.
BATC never cleared you to your destination just said expect such and such departure and then you were cleared for take-off. In the real world you are not cleared until atc says cleared.I tried this myself and ask them for clearance but that just seems to confuse it.
I have BATC permanently open in its own small screen. This allows me to keep a eye on what it may be expecting. Taxing is certainly not its strong point, but SI is not within my sim budget at this time. Still way better then standard ATC ..

I dont understand you! Why in the world you want to have ATC in MFSF if you dont want to speak? Then use the default ATC, it works well. We use those ATC Addons to be able to speak to them like in real life. Whats wrong with you? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Plenty of other programs out there that can do "button press" ATC at a lower cost. Aside from having some more variety in your ATC voices, I'm not sure why you'd purchase either one of these if you're not going to take full advantage of the features. Being able to actually converse with ATC through your mic is kind of the selling point here.
Hi, gents! I'm pro pilot and got a gamer laptop to enhance some skills using MS2020 or X-Plane 12 but, the main intention is virtually flying previously where I will be really flying training English fraseology once I'm not a native speaker and don't know the places I'm going to fly. A friend of mine uses VATSIM and Pilot Edge . Is BATC better than VATSIM and Pilot Edge? Does anyone here know this other two tools? Thanks.
BATC was my choice due to the fact that I am not a serious flyer/streamer thus doesnt make sense paying monthly for something im using prolly 2 or 3 times a week.. BATC gave me the option to either use premium paid voice pack or basic (free). They are working fast as well as we finally have VR toolbar and upcoming traffic enroute. Im just waiting for VFR and that's that
Im using BATC atm and I find it way too static. It doesnt have a lot of options other than request decent and direct to a fix. It will vector you to a visual if VMC and its impossible to request an approach.
Are you sure abour VFR in EU? I flew in Switzerland VFR (i connected SI with Navigraph Pro) and works as expected. I also saw they will add Trafick Injection too.
I think BATC will eventually surpass SI. I like the much faster response time. They really need to work on approaches and taxi to parking/gates. And look forward to the VFR updates. Vatsim still top shelf.
I use beyond ATC, I make 15 bucks an hour, so I would have to work 20 hours a year just to afford Say Intentions, the price they ask is absolutely absurd.
One is super unbelievably expensive with a ridiculous pricing model which should not be adopted by customers. The other is very reasonably priced for what it offers.
honestly they’re both good softwares beyond atc has a reason to be behind due to the price being what it is and the dev team being only so big say intentions on the other hand is charging their customers an arm and a leg for a fake airplane simulator just saying if they wanted more customers they would listen to them and make it more affordable especially in the economy we live in
I prefer using VATSIM. I think Sayintentions or BeyondATC can be great if you either fly at times where vatsim doesnt have so many people online or if you want to build some experience before joining a network where you interact with real humans. But for me at this pricing point I just dont think its a permanent solution. On the other hand vatsim can occasionally be a bit annoying with newbies, not necessarily because they are new, of course new players are welcome, but sometimes they come in very unprepared, but looking at the bigger picture I think it is a minor issue and VATSIM is a really great solution, especially because you of course have the traffic of all the other players, which is just really nice and makes it feel much more immersive compared to some of those tools, which basically just simulate your own comms.
VATSIM is obviously the best choice of them all but only if you have coverage. And you don't have coverage most of the time unless you're flying only during high peak hours and at busy locations. SI is just expensive and that's the end of it, while BATC looks very promising. Let's not forget about Pilot2ATC which has been around for years and has much functionality. If this could somehow be upgraded to use AI, it would beat everything else hands down.
Sayintensions is great if you are not american nativ speaker. You can have any possible accent, the AI will understand you. Pilot2ATC will not understand, only if you do the voice training. I heard a lot that BATC wont ubderstand you, if you have heavy accent....
I've had better experiences with BATC, the voices are way better, IFR flight is way better, I do however like how Sayintentions had more traffic on the frequency or prerecorded atc. makes it more real.
BATC more realistic sound? The default are better then Pilot2ATC, the premiun are way better but they sound like from a hollywood movie and way to agressive ie. without soul. SI sound for me more natural and it give me the feeling, there is a real person speaking. If you compate BATC Premium price with SI, the Sayintensions is way cheaper, like 19 usd/month and fly as many as you wish. Try to fly with BATC Premium 30 days, it will cost more then 30 usd. Sayintensions cost now for 1 year 195 usd, (16/month), thats a fair and good price.
Thanks for the comparision....this proves they are not much better than FXS years ago, really its sad based on how far tech has come over the years. As a flight Instructor... this cannot be used for the reak world training or anythong. Just sim fun ?? Pilot Edge is live atc....limited by region but very close to the real world @ $20 per month. Just depends if you want a gaming platform or closer to flight training. Its just confusing to say the least Just some thoughts from the peanut gallery

Wow! A whole 20 hours a year huh? That must be tough. 😂
20 hours a whole year??? Wow, sorry you would work 30 mins a week
Is 35 euro for full version
I think with the upcoming traffic injection and, eventually, VFR BATC will be the far superior ATC program.
If I had to pay $30.00 a month for "ai" atc services I would rather pay Pilot Edge and get a live human..no ai required lol
One is super unbelievably expensive with a ridiculous pricing model which should not be adopted by customers. The other is very reasonably priced for what it offers.
excellent video..... Perfect
Your videos are great ! Thanks
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
honestly they’re both good softwares beyond atc has a reason to be behind due to the price being what it is and the dev team being only so big say intentions on the other hand is charging their customers an arm and a leg for a fake airplane simulator just saying if they wanted more customers they would listen to them and make it more affordable especially in the economy we live in
I prefer using VATSIM.
This thumbnail 😍😍
Sayintensions is great if you are not american nativ speaker. You can have any possible accent, the AI will understand you. Pilot2ATC will not understand, only if you do the voice training. I heard a lot that BATC wont ubderstand you, if you have heavy accent....
runway 09 or runway 27, just minor details, lol 🤷♂
Neither here nor there!
Its just confusing to say the least
Just some thoughts from the peanut gallery
You do realize this is early acess right? FS flight instructor are you?
Paying for somethings that still in development no !!!!!! why ther give it free until it is finch then ther can charge money for not now
Hi!
Vatsim is for free
hahahah
True, but VatSim isn’t for everyone
Sorry bud but I ain’t sticking around 40 minutes just to see a comparison!!
