Adding a SID & STAR to the flight plan makes for a more immersive (and busy) ATC experience. If no STAR then ATC will provide you with vectors to your final approach. Considering this is EARLY ACCESS the basic ATC is in a fairly solid state, promising big things to come!

Thanks for reviewing BeyondATC with basic voices all the way, unlike most other reviews. I think basic is how most people will use it, including me. That's why I wanted to hear the whole flight with basic voices, and they sounded great.

Been waiting for your revue, Mark. I bought BATC on day 1 and I have been impressed with the number of updates (practically every day). Like most others here, I use the basic voices. Once they get the traffic injection active, this is going to be very immersive. It's been a great learning tool for me, both for proper flight planning procedures and phraseology. I'll be trying VATSim at some point, but given that there aren't always controllers in the areas i fly, BATC will be a great substitute.

Been using BATC for a couple weeks now and love it. It does have a few quirks that I know will be worked out, considering the number of updates that have already been put out. I'm only using basic voices as they are more than good enough for me. Flying in multiple African countries, I got to hear various accents which is very cool. During a flight today in the A320, BATC completely ignored the ATIS at the destination airport and vectored me to runway that was not what should have been used. It also ignored the STAR that I had in my flight plan (according the ATIS, what I had in my flight plan was still correct). Had no issues with multiple flights in the TBM, other than one time not even wanting to run (due to what I believe was due to multiple ICAO codes for the airport).
Overall though, I am very happy with what the dev has come up with so far.

A really great demonstration Mark thankyou for putting this together. I think the standard "basic" voices are more than enough for most of us. I look forward to following the developments closely, especially once VFR and VR support is added. Cheers.

Well done. I look forward to watching how they improve with time. I hope they add other aircraft traffic/ATC comms to make it more realistic. The price is reasonable and hope there is enough incentive to allow them to continue to expand.

Very helpful video Mark, Thank You!! I was having trouble getting BATC to give me descent instructions but now I see you have to request the descent (which I could not see in VR). I hope the BATC platform will be visible on VR at some point. But in the meantime, it makes it more challenging.
I set my tablet up as a second monitor and use the VR color passthrough app to look at BATC on the second monitor and it works great (for now until I don't need the second monitor)

As always, very informative! I purchased this and tried it a few times. As they clearly state, it’s buggy and has issues still. It certainly is. Had a CTD using it. Without a UI in VR, it’s very difficult with no prompts. No VFR and can’t play audio through Pimax, I’m gonna wait until it’s updated to support these issues.
Extremely helpful. I have to try it now. I am wondering about the "backtrack" command they gave; hopefully it was just a bug that will be fixed. Can't wait for VFR flights to become available.

When in doubt, Always wise to just ask to cross a active runway.
Especially if the stop bar lights are on
I really like the TBM, if you have a navigraph susscription, you can download to the in game navigraph and then auto export the flight plan directly into the plane.
Not the default TBM unfortunately.
As far as i can remember i havnt added any additional software.

Still unsure about this but of course anything's better than the quite caustic default ATC voices! It would have been nice to see and hear the co-pilot automation too but great video. I wonder if the traffic injector will be better or worse than FSLTL in terms of performance?
Hello Mark - Great tutorial there with the new BeyondATC. Just wondering if there are any changes to be made within FS2020? Any settings to be switched off. I initally had FS2020 ATC and Beyond ATC at same time and radios wouldn't change. Maybe you could take a look and let people know. Good stuff though, I for one, frightened to death going onto VATSIM etc.. loving BeyondATC just to get some excellent practice!! 🙂 Thanks Mark.

Another excellent review Mark. Thank you so much. I have a question regarding the PTT switch. I am on a Pimax Crystal VR headset and my PC shows the built-in mic working properly, but BeyondATC tells me that there is no audio detected during the mic test. Have I missed a step ?
Did you select the Pimax Mic from the drop down menu as I did with the Corsair headset in the BeyondATC settings?

I think at custom airports taxiways can produce errors. They're working on it

You can not see the UI in VR, but as it is voice it is not a show stopper. VR panel coming as part of the development cycle.
@@SimHangerFS There's a pretty usefull workaround for this using FSDesktop. @VirtuSim made a video on this. Tried it and it works fine for now until BATC offers native VR support.

A toolbar VR panel is part of the development cycle. Not aware of the timeframe from this.
Considering that the whole point of the product is voice recognition, I wonder if they plan on making it so that you could just tell it your flight plan.

Hi there, i used the BATC to fly into a farm field, it give me vectors all the way in, actually because it was dark and there was no runway lights, I missed the runway and then vectored me in for anothet attempt.
Really clever stuff.
My fault it was dark should have looked at the info on the airport before setting out.
Oh, TY for this video, I just got this a few days ago $42 Cnd for me & still trying to figure it out. Does the Default ATC in the sim conflict with Beyond ATC? I called for Taxi but the engine wasn't running & they called me a bad pilot, lol
Yes it does, as shown in video, turn MSFS ATC off.
Your clearance to cross runway during taxi had already been given, otherwise your taxi instructions would have been to hold at runway. Curious to know if software took into account how little activity there was and not having several aircraft lined up in final for landing.
Interesting, I thought cross runway instructions were explicitly mentioned for safety reasons without exception. I stand corrected.
@@SimHangerFS That is correct. I'll have to watch it again, I may have missed that.
@SimHangerFS My mistake. I listened to it again and it ignored the runway. It should have told you to cross or hold, depending on the situation.
Very good and promising, but it does not recognize many small airports - private and the like. Much like Simbrief itself. Those flights, I have to wing it w/o Beyond ATC.
I’m just curious how this is going to work for long hauls. I tend to go have a nice nap and watch TV after I’ve reached cruise altitude and set the alarm for step climbs and the approach to TOD.
🤣 well hopefully ATC will have a nap too. Just contact centre or approach and it will pick up from there.
BATC always give me an exit taxiway I already passed or in process of passing.
Why the approaching and landing process is not available in the last part of the flying. All flight just finishing with radio check and nothing else even when I which among the all available frequencies at the airport. No approach, no final, no tower. I am landing at LKPR mostly.
The Bring to the Front key binding does not work. I assumed it would pop up the UI while in fullscreen mode. Cant get on the discord yet. Anyone get this to work.

Can Beyond ATC be put on a tablet linked to the Main Simulator PC via IP address so that the Beyond ATC can be used via voice and window on on the main visual PC

Correct, It reads data from sim only. I used Navigraph to assist in planning.
Have you tried BATC in VR yet?
Yes, just as good but access to the UI panel is still in development.

@@Macbrowndogif you tick the ‘auto tune radios’ option it will tune the radios for you so you don’t need to fiddle about with the radio knobs whilst flying in vr.

Premium voice pricing wouldn’t suit me as I take a lot of short flights so would end up paying hundreds of dollars a year. I find basic voices a bit irritating so will be skipping this.
