Hey 320SimPilot! Thanks so much for checking out our program! Couple things I want to mention - the voice at the end was a bug, you should not have gotten that accent in Manchester, and the mispronunciation of everything was a bug as well. Thanks again for all the great feedback - we will take it on board and work to improve all the issues you had here.

Decended me into the DFW area and put me on an intercept course for the visual. I look forward to watching the program grow and improve. Have a great one!
I know you did this video a couple weeks ago and there have been a few updates since then. As someone who is not a real pilot, I absolutely love BATC. It's leaps and bounds above the default and even other ATC programs from the past. I have been flying in various countries and the accents really do make it feel like I'm actually flying somewhere besides the United States. Sometimes there are difficult to understand but I would expect that (especially in various African countries). I know there have been some issues with mispronunciations and incorrect/wrong frequencies but that's minimal to me considering what is being offered. At least it hasn't vectored me into a mountain like other ATC apps have. ;) I have yet to use premium voices as the basic ones are quite good (IMO).
Another incredible video! I think this software is a big leap forward. VATSIM coverage isn't always great so this is nice. It will improve with time. It still blows my mind that a real world BA pilot enjoys playing FS2020. I failed my maths test a couple weeks ago for the speedbird cadet academy. You have my fullest respects sir. You are clearly a very capable, intelligent and thorough individual. Congrats man. Love the videos! You're a great 'explainer of things'.
A new update today gave you the options of having voices more local to where you are as I found some of he accents were very strong when flying around the UK before this
Ah so they were just randomly picked before then? Couldn't find an answer for this honestly. This is literally the only video I've found that even samples the basic voice lines which is super nice to actually see. As the premium voice lines are just way to much expense for my personal use, so I'd be more looking at basic voice lines.
@@crazydanz Yeah basically - guess they have watched your video @320SimPilot :) More work on eliminating bad or hard to understand Basic Voice Model accents. Fix for the ILS vector error seen in 320 Sim Pilot's Video today Multiple fixes for UK/EU center names. Fix for late descents causing the pilot to be too high on their approach.
Well done BeyondATC devs, this is very impressive, lots of potential! Though it's still in beta the software is adding, even at this stage, significantly to the sim experience (as long as you stay on-script). Of course, there are still important things to fine tune and that's what the beta stage is all about, so lots of feedback folks...please help these devs make the product as good as it can be! There was quite a few situations in this video where not saying the exact 'expected' reply/phrase confused the software - that's an important issue that will need fixed (need the parser to expand on picking up key/action words, and in different input orders). Off-script scenarios are, sooner rather than later, going to be important - both because it's not uncommon for the player to know what the on-script procedure might be at all times, or, how exact the player needs to adhere, and, (of primary importance to the 'AI' element) because players want to experiment. There needs to be a lot more 'If...Then' constructs to handle as many off-scrips inputs/actions as possible - the more of those, the more 'AI' the product will be (which isn't really true AI, of course). The current start-end pathway (entire existing planned route) would benefit from the addition of loops/branches (e.g. course diversion because of weather/ad-hoc sight seeing etc) - it looks like, in its current form, the player needs to stick exactly to script. On the other hand, this is a beta release, so again folks, this is the time when you'll have most input into a program's features/fixes so do feedback to the devs...pester them! Looking forward to trying this out!
Thanks for this. As usual, fair and informative. I'll get it eventually, but first, I need to improve my flying skills. This what is I like about your vids, you take into account those of us who are less experienced. 👍
While the Sim not recognising the automatic frequency change from BATC in the Airplane, you can actually set the frequency on the airplanes radio and it will also be set in BATC.
Hey, great video sir! Love BATC so far even though there are a couple of glitches but being that it’s an early release version, I guess that should be expected. Don’t you think that it would be cool to be able to port the comms window over into an iPad as an option so we don’t have to deal with the obstructed view?
Great video. I tried it yesterday and struggled with a couple of things, including understanding Ground Voices. They have updated the Basic voices today in a patch that makes them easier to undetsand
Hi Captain , I bought this on Sunday . Surprisingly it has Indian Accent as well which help me use in my Indian airport . But it solely depends on Airport Data due to which I had old 3rd party airport so my whole landing was messed up .
As someone who is terrified of VATSim, this looks interesting to me as I usually use the default MSFS ATC and it always breaks on long-hauls. I may wait for them to iron the program out but I’m excited to see where it goes.
I've never played with a flight sim with anything other than the vanilla ATC. This program is great for the immersion. Sure, there are still hiccups, but its early access and overall, I love it. If you don't know what to say next having the option to have it automatically reply is very nice. You do need to stay on the rails, and I believe the only things it'll accept are the auto replies, so sometimes you just need to give it what it wants. But overall its so much better than just vanilla.
I bought it and flew from KJFK to KBUF. It seemed fine for the departure but bad during arrival. The vectors to visual RWY05 were too high and too close to threshold but I managed and then while on decent path 3miles final got a go around and after that the canned responses were amiss and no call could be understood/interpreted by ATC, even automatic replies would not work anymore. I understand it is early release and I will try again but I think it is no replacement for Vatsim even when minimally staffed. Just as a note, I also had no options to change my approach during decent and had to take the visual with vectors.
Considering the number of Bugs you encountered through no fault of your own and the Sim having to automatically correct itself. Paying per character for premium voices seems overkill. Your character balance is being eaten away as a result of the ATC issuing new orders or incorrect orders. How many characters are you losing through no fault of your own?
Hi 320 Sim Pilot, I definetly went nuts once you mentioned in the vid app somehow could recon the local procedures for facing traffics also to give you the taxi, with minor issues.... I wonder if you're familiarized with the local taxi procedures in LEBL. If you're so....Could you please test it in LEBL and give us a feedback. Thanks for advance.
Thanks for watching! I will see if we can give it a go on a stream one day, but I can't promise! I am mostly aware of the procedures in LEBL so it would be interesting.
First completely impartial review from an actual airline pilot based in my own country (UK). Great video. This product clearly has HUGE potential, however I would say that right now it's not QUITE living up to the massive hype that people have given it. I'm not sure that's the creator's fault. I think RUclipsrs have probably bigged it up a bit too much, probably because the community has wanted something like this for SOO long and people were just super excited. The reality is real life is so unpredictable that to pre-script every possible scenario is an almost impossible task. The fact that it's coping so well is admirable, but it's clearly not quite ready for prime time. Early access is definitely the correct way to market this. The only thing that grinds my gears a bit is that they're charging full price for early access. I really think that EA users should get a bit of a discount for effectively being free beta testers, but anyway, it is what it is. Hopefully things will improve quickly in the coming month, and I'm really looking forward to AI traffic injection, oceanic procedures and VFR control. Certainly an exciting time as you say. Would you consider doing a review of Say Intentions AI? Both these products seem to be trying to solve the same problem from slightly different angles. I hope they both spur each other on to push the sim forward.
Just to be clear: The devs did ask in their discord if we (the community) would like to wait up longer until it is more polished, or if they should release now as EA. Overwhelming answer was release now as EA. They have been clear it is full of bugs and that they work tirelessly to improve it (as can be seen since they already addressed stuff from this very video). Also, they put out a video explaining all of this very clearly. So giving them a hard time for doing what they have been ask for by their very community is a bit harsh :) If you do not want EA - just wait for final - it is that easy ;)
Very interesting. Some observations - when you had premium voices on, the aircraft's pilot voice had an Australian accent, while the controller's was very British, but when you went to default, the pilot was British but the controller's was Dutch etc. Given that it knew you were in the UK (Heathrow) and were a BA flight (British), and it had the British accent for both the pilot and controller, you'd think it would be pretty easy to get the accents right, so I'd say this is something that could be ironed out. As you say, it would be reasonable to expect accents that are at least close in default mode and not something that is unintelligible. Some of the confusion around flight level changes could be irritating. I find default MSFS ATC quite often gets into that rut, so hopefully this is something BeyondATC can fix. Most of the other interaction issues could be down to learning how the system expects to be talked to, so you might well be able to get round those with time. If not, I can see it getting a bit frustrating. That all said, it's clearly a massive step in the right direction and it can only get better with time, I just hope the community is willing to be patient, as well as provide constructive feedback around local procedures etc, to enable continuous improvement. Re the pricing model, I'm reasonably comfortable with it, it's a 'user pays as you go' model that covers their AI cost, which hopefully over time will come down a bit - there's no such thing as a free lunch!
A step up from default ATC, but still very scripted and confined. From an immersion perspective, I'd never be confused between this and a real/vatsim controller. (like Sayintentions does, at least for me). Still, looks like a WIP and again, better than default. Continue the great work team Beyond 👍
Thanks for the video! I have a question if you wouldn't mind: I like to fly to Manchester on the sim, but I noticed that all of the STARs don't really have any continuity towards the ILS and just expect you to be manually sequenced. Is it like that in EGCC in real life too? Thanks!
When you get handed off to another frequency and you say "Thank you" after your read back they actually come back and say "You are very welcome" or something to that effect. Can't remember exactly now.
MCT Transitions you mentioned. I've never heard of that. Could you a vid explaining? Is it what happens at Newcastle where you approach dirct to NT then do a teardrop? Never knew it was called that
I've been using PROATC/SR for several years and find it work very well. It certainly works better than Beyond ATC so far. I may consider it once they have the ground AI feature working. Until then its PRO ATC/SR, AI Flow, AI Ground, and FSLTI Traffic.
The dutch accent at the end is indeed a bug ; I've traced it in a BATC log as : 'Returned character via Area Code: Netherlands_5'; I repeated the flight and had the same issue.
Definitely will be buying this, but I'm team stable release and that's what I voted for. Will follow the road map and will buy at the right time. I'm a big fan of (most of) the premium voices, but I refuse to use up any characters in this early access build. The immersion just isn't there yet.
Paying for premium voice is likely because they use existing 3rd party TTS AI voice services for which they need to pay usage fees. it can become rather expensive to include it in a flat subscription fee while keeping the subscription itself reasonably small.
essentially, look for commercial text-to-speech offerings, eg from google, azure and so on. They usually have per character/byte billing or per time billing. For ATC per-character billing is more economical.
very good video and I decided to buy beyondAtc...is the 787 you are flying from the simulator or did you buy it separately...do you have a tutorial on that plane??
320 sim pilot. In real life, do you jot down all that detail they are rattling off or do you just have that good of a memory. It would be cool if someone had a program just for practicing teading back different instructions they were giving you, with adjusyable dpeeds do you can start slow and build up to their speed, which I'm sure comes with practice. Thanks for posting, this was very interesting to have an actual pilot reviewing the planes and beyoindAtc.
I’ve never flown using ATC before so this may sound dumb. When I set up my flight plan from simbrief let’s say I’m taking off 26L on sim brief but atis is saying only active is 08L and 08R what do I do since simbrief is saying one and ATIS is saying another. I’ve went into simbrief and changed departure runway. but still same thing could apply for arrival.
Hi 320Simpilot. Thank you for your content. I recently purchased Beyond ATC and did not enjoy the entire flight. Not sure if I am doing something wrong but I never had the flight following take place and I was kept at 18k ft. With a simbrief FL360. I had to eventually change flight myself to 360 and never was contacted the entire flight from ATC from PHNL to RJTT. I had Beyond ATC on full auto reply. Really strange. On my approach to landing, no instruction was given to me for landing instructions. It was my first flight using the program but I have mixed feelings about it. Any advice would be greatly accepted.
It would help if the text that it THINKS you said is also output into the window, to see if it understood you wrong, or can't process the content itself. At the current state, this is literally the "Alexa, STOP!" equivalent of ATC.
BATC, if you are reading this: Consider adding this text to the radio textbox: "Tuned : 121.9 to Heathrow Ground" This way, it's a little bit clearer on what the radio is tuned to at any given moment.
Wow great insight. Would love to see you do one with some of the others like SayIntentions and FSHud or even Pilot2ATC just see how they are responding according to real world expectations by the experts. You may have already done one for these also. Thanks sir
Hi I flew to JFK and got clearance for RW04L. I asked for 04R but I guess my phraseology was not correct. Do you know if that is possible? Or it's because it's still early access? Although I am so happy about BeyondAtc. Was waiting for this since 2005. I started with FS2002😂
i could not seem to know how to use beyond atc and vatsim with the 787 family because i could not get comm 2 to work at the same time as comm 1 if you could help me with this problem it would be great thanks
Sure is an intersting option and since they changed their pricing model is very promising.. would you say as soneone learning atc this is a good idea... how do you think ur flight would of gone if you werent a rela pilot?? I wondering if it will be frustrating for us who need guidance
Yes, it is definitely a pain to use an Xbox controller, but you did well with it! I have a much harder time holding centered on the runway on my Xbone controller.
Still not convinced the on-rails approach is the way to go, although I understand their arguments. Clearly it’s not yet ready for release, but exciting to see how it develops. Thanks for the awesome vid as always!
I watched it a, second time. Great review. Too many issues with the product though. Outside of the voice input/output, it's not a AI product and we shouldn't get the wrong expectations. It will only understand things if they conform to a very strict format. For instance call sign at the end, not the beginning, no heading request, etc... Still, the product team has great feedback from this vid they can work on. At least common request/phraseology should be understood, and for SID/STAR it seems some work needs to be done. Looking forward to updates!
I had 5 good flights yesterday but on the 6th (and on the test I did this morning) I was cleared to the first constraint in the STAR and then left there. If it said cleared descend via STAR to exit alt then I'd be happy but if it just gives me a FL then I take that as a limit. Even when it did descend me it was (for me) late requiring kamikaze approach. When it vectored me it did give me intercepts but this is NOT AI driven - it''s code and I can see it sometimes loses the plot. Is it worth $29.99 - imo yes it is - I believe they'll fix it and the promise is worth chasing but do not buy this expecting perfection - not close. On voices - I've had some strange accents but nothing as challenging as you had - tbh if I struggle I just read the gui or press the button to respond, *I* can live with that.
Personally I much prefer the human interaction and real world procedures of Vatsim, however this is considerably better than default ATC. Another great video! ❤
I find it works pretty well until you get to approach vectoring, when I start ignoring it. It seems pretty basic. There's not a lot about this that is different from MSFS ATC. But I find the initial approach vectoring to be subpar.

I know there have been some issues with mispronunciations and incorrect/wrong frequencies but that's minimal to me considering what is being offered. At least it hasn't vectored me into a mountain like other ATC apps have. ;)
I have yet to use premium voices as the basic ones are quite good (IMO).
A new update today gave you the options of having voices more local to where you are as I found some of he accents were very strong when flying around the UK before this
Yes just seen that. 'Simple Basic Voice Accents" I think it's called.
Ah so they were just randomly picked before then? Couldn't find an answer for this honestly. This is literally the only video I've found that even samples the basic voice lines which is super nice to actually see. As the premium voice lines are just way to much expense for my personal use, so I'd be more looking at basic voice lines.
@@crazydanz Yeah basically - guess they have watched your video @320SimPilot :)
More work on eliminating bad or hard to understand Basic Voice Model accents.
Fix for the ILS vector error seen in 320 Sim Pilot's Video today
Multiple fixes for UK/EU center names.
Fix for late descents causing the pilot to be too high on their approach.
The truck I bought had one of these that came with it. It took some getting used to. Thanks for walking me through the features, great vid.
I've purchased BATC, pretty good so minor bugs they need to iron out.
Its EA after all, but pretty solid app on rly solid foundation
Thanks for this. As usual, fair and informative. I'll get it eventually, but first, I need to improve my flying skills. This what is I like about your vids, you take into account those of us who are less experienced. 👍
How dit you get the 787 working? I am on Xbox and it wont work.
While the Sim not recognising the automatic frequency change from BATC in the Airplane, you can actually set the frequency on the airplanes radio and it will also be set in BATC.
Great video as always miss you being a320 pilot. I’ve done flight today never spoken before it was great to experience
I wonder if it can deal with RNP/ RNAV approaches.
Yes.
Yeah u have to really slow down and articulate, it helps alot
Looking forward to the software recognizing all the smaller airports; dirt, grass
Awesome video! Now that you’re flying the 787, what do you think of the Kuro 787?
Thank you! I love the Kuro 787, and have used it on streams!
agree 100 that it must work and be understandable without premium!. Thanks for great review!
Id imagine Queenstown approach would be quite intriguing with this program?
That could be a great idea! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for a great video again! And of course the review of that product of which I am very interested.
Thank you very much sir for this excellent demo of Beyond ATC. Appreciate it alot! :)
Thank you so much for the video! I bought it almost instantly 😀
"Real time traffic and Labels ON!!"
I always thought this had to be both, switched OFF in MSFS
Regards from France
So giving them a hard time for doing what they have been ask for by their very community is a bit harsh :)
If you do not want EA - just wait for final - it is that easy ;)
@@val4b I do not have a problem with them releasing it as early access. Just think it should be sold at a discount until it is properly ready.
Quite impressive, but also not quite ready for prime time. I think I'll be waiting for a patch or two. Thanks for the vid!
Can you please list all your add ons in future descriptions
Thanks a lot for the demo, perfect !
Thanks!
"Well, I hope he's going to do something more than that." 😆
When you get handed off to another frequency and you say "Thank you" after your read back they actually come back and say "You are very welcome" or something to that effect. Can't remember exactly now.
These things you picked up on would be good to pass on to their team
already did
MCT Transitions you mentioned.
The dutch accent at the end is indeed a bug ; I've traced it in a BATC log as :
'Returned character via Area Code: Netherlands_5';
I repeated the flight and had the same issue.
Thanks Again for all the great content. I scared my Uncle with all my knowledge on the 787 as he is a pilot on that aircraft too.
You’re very welcome, thanks for watching!
Definitely will be buying this, but I'm team stable release and that's what I voted for. Will follow the road map and will buy at the right time. I'm a big fan of (most of) the premium voices, but I refuse to use up any characters in this early access build. The immersion just isn't there yet.
Same here, I hope our opinion give the devs more motivation to improve the product first
Thanks for watching! Indeed there are more features planned and I'll be curious to see where it goes in the future!
You can get access to dev builds with the supporters pack. So chance to test out the traffic injection early I hope.
This is exactly why and they've been very transaprent on this.
very good video and I decided to buy beyondAtc...is the 787 you are flying from the simulator or did you buy it separately...do you have a tutorial on that plane??
Great video as per, is there a way to have the interface on a tablet?
That could be a good idea! Thanks for watching.
BATC, if you are reading this: Consider adding this text to the radio textbox: "Tuned : 121.9 to Heathrow Ground"
This way, it's a little bit clearer on what the radio is tuned to at any given moment.
We are, and that's a great idea! Added to my todo list, ty
Glad I could help!
excellent video
Brilliant!
Wow great insight. Would love to see you do one with some of the others like SayIntentions and FSHud or even Pilot2ATC just see how they are responding according to real world expectations by the experts. You may have already done one for these also. Thanks sir
"sir"?
@@eisaatana96 yep Thanks

You can turn off (or turn the volume down) the default ATC without turning off live traffic. Also, FSLTL has much better live traffic!
Still a bit buggy but has potential!!
Hi,
Could you tell me what software is used to record your flight & has ability to move around and views on playback of camera angles etc
i could not seem to know how to use beyond atc and vatsim with the 787 family because i could not get comm 2 to work at the same time as comm 1 if you could help me with this problem it would be great thanks
does it work in VR? Can you have the program window in the cockpit?
I would image that just like in VatSim you will want to turn off the default sim's speech so you don't double up ATIS
Some of these controllers sound like they’ve gone to work with their Dad and he’s let them have a blast on the radio lol
I believe it will only "recognise" the commands that appear in the bottom left window of BATC (i.e when you was trying the vacate runway)
Im waiting for the AI traffic. By then hopefully it will be more polished too
I had 5 good flights yesterday but on the 6th (and on the test I did this morning) I was cleared to the first constraint in the STAR and then left there.
5 flights in one day?
@@eisaatana96 yup 🙂
Personally I much prefer the human interaction and real world procedures of Vatsim, however this is considerably better than default ATC. Another great video! ❤
Thanks for watching, I’ll still be using VATSIM of course for streams!
I find it works pretty well until you get to approach vectoring, when I start ignoring it. It seems pretty basic. There's not a lot about this that is different from MSFS ATC. But I find the initial approach vectoring to be subpar.
