1 more honda Ridgeline for midsize SUV. Just needs 1 oz of prolong in the engine oil changes to stay quiet
Great videos Scotty, I've learned so much from you, now I know what to look for in a used car and what to run 🏃♂️ away from
Hey Scotty, what do you think about the Lexus IS500 models? Other than the price, do you think its a good buy?
With Toyota dumping the v6 engine and putting a 4 cylinder turbo, I would get the new Nissan Frontier
Honda Ridgeline
Yup. 1st time I have ever said this, but there’s never been anything wrong with the Frontier, as it’s probably the LAST great Nissan made today. Thanks to the new redesigned Taco, I think the Nissan has probably surpassed it now!
Damn. 4runner might be next.
@@Al-ok1ljwill be next. Unfortunately too -- I don't need it now, but will need 4r in a few short years. Only used at that point, and I have a feeling they'll go for more than new (turbo powered) ones. No fair!
Yes
24 Tacomas should have gotten the 4.0 V6 paired with the new 8 speed transmission. It would have been a monster.
VEHEMENTLY AGREED 👍!!
They can't meet the EPA regs. They f up everything.
Yes
I actually find that I rarely use the 6th gear in my 2020 Tacoma V6. I have an automatic and use the sport shift. I can get 21-22 mpg in 5th gear on the highway going 65-70 mph. 6th gear doesn't give me anything noticeable more. It could have 5 speeds and I'd be good. Also of note is that the 4 runner (also with a V6) only has a 5 gear transmission.
@@Jonsoar
I agree on the 6 speed trannie, as I have a Tundra with the 6sp which is bulletproof especially compared to the newer 10 speed. The main focus of mine has to do with the V6; doesn’t matter if it has the 6 or 8 speed.
The older cars without turbo indeed last so long. And cost less.
In Australia, Hilux's are everywhere. Now they are all diesel.
Yeah in north america diesel is only limited to monster size pickup trucks or german luxury cars. Meanwhile the rest of the world gets tons of affordable cars with diesel engines.
Scotty has said for years turbo 4s are a bad idea.... money talks I guess😂
Yes, I caught that too.
He couldn’t resist the $$$ offered by Toyota to change his mind from previous videos 😅😅😅
I was gunna say that he contradicted his self from other videos. I don’t want no 4 banger pick up unless it’s a lil gas saver not a tacoma maybe the old small ones
Turbos have been around since the 80s and they have always known to have issues.
FTLTRUCK had their 2024 Taco break it's front diff on it's first mission up a trail in Colorado.
Yeah it had to get towed down the hill
Such a shame what manufacturers are doing to the reliability of new vehicles smh
It wasn’t its first mission. Regardless, was pretty shitty to watch.
I think I will stick with older cars with fewer things to break.
Has he ever done a vid on best new low tech vehicles?
Like my 64 2-door Chevelle station wagon, factory 4-speed transmission
Buy sprinter trucks
I moved overseas for work. Getting a Toyota Hilux adventure. What a beautiful machine
I want the small Toyota pickup to make a come-back.
I love this style video I wish you did more just talking about the history of car brands too
0:00 Toyota Tacoma
10:12 Mazda CX-50
20:39 Corolla Cross
Appreciate for saving our time much respect
THANK YOU
A Godsend
Thanks!!!!!!!
I liked the Tacoma and all it's competitors when they were ''small trucks' instead of midsize ones.
And those small trucks were tough. My 2 favorite’s from the 1980’s; Toyota and Ford Ranger.
Exactly @@HarrisonCountyStudio
Recommending the Tacoma right after a recall, a stop sale (for quality control), and the differential snap heard around the world is wild
Scotty also had a video recently, advising against buying the new Tacoma because the new 4 cylinder engines won't be as reliable as the old V6. He's just pumping out videos to keep the paychecks coming in.
The recall was on a different generation of truck and the qc hold was emissions. One shear pin failing is hardly a diff snapping but sure.
@@RP-oy5rt I think the details of the failure have yet to be made public, but did you see the video of the failure? Even though it was off road, the conditions at that moment were so non-technical, It could have happened on an icey street. It was absolutely disgusting when you consider that was a purposely built off-road vehicle.
@@BoiseG actually they are out there. Whole video about it
Thanks for the info 😊
Great video! Thank you Scotty.
I'm good with my 06 Taco.... rides great, and it's fully paid for...
I HATE To say this, but being Im in the business, I believe the Tacos are going the way of the new Tundra. Toyota is agreeing to a HUGE amount of buybacks, which they’ve never done before on ANY of the vehicles.
Are there 4 cylinder engines in vehicles that are not inline?
@@Notfiveo0
No. It could only be in a boxer-4 or a V4.
No one offers this unless Subaru does someday
What is the main reason do you think?
What do you mean "buy backs"? Do you mean people don't like the truck and Toyota is buying them back for that reason?
I really like the honda hrv. It's simple but has some nice perks, good enough for an old man of 70. At my age I need these assistance gadgets.
Merci pour les info. good job
I will go with the new frontier
TFL's brand new Tacoma broke the front diff when they got stuck on ice. Something is wrong with them!
Scotty who ever you have editing, providing the graphics and illustrations makes they types of videos awesome to watch.
Scotty, a good video for you to review is the Baxter Performance Oil Filter Anti Drain Adapter.
Nice, but I'll be keeping my 2022 v6 manual TRD Sport.
i would buy Toyota Tacos but without turbocharger 1:03 . thank you Scotty 👍
Hiluxes are mostly for farmers on difficult terrains & 3rd world countries where parts are rare or easy to fix on the spot with minimum tools & carry excellent resale value. Even the basic bare bone 2x4 single cab model comes in manual 5 speed is unkillable. On the other hand, a Tacomas look cooler but good for drifting in the living room with that 4 cylinder.
We love your RUclips automotive channel 👍 Scotty 👏
Bought a 2024 Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition and absolutely love it over the CX-50.
Dont ever buy a vehicle coming out with a new engine or drivetrain the first year.
Yeah, Scotty is bi-polar or something I swear. Next video. 3 cars NOT to buy "2024 Tacoma"
True
That's not a " new " engine
True
This engine has been out for 7 years already
Switching from the naturally aspirated V6 to a forced induction 4 banger kills it for me. I guess my current Tacoma will be my last. But it’s an ‘03 so I reckon I’ve got at least another 20 years until I get an upgrade.
Yup. If the Tacoma is made for the American maker, then why the hell would they make this engine change? Hopefully, people won’t buy them forcing Toyota to change back to the V6 next year.
I got a 2006 TACO. 102K miles on it. Yeah got a while with it. Not worried about it. Then when I'm ready, engine swap.
@@CGGarage Onky 102k? My man, that truck is still a virgin! You lucky dog.
@@Al-ok1lj All the manufacturers are doing that direction these days to get more horsepower out of smaller engines due to more and more ridiculous emissions standards. The funniest thing is, we know forced induction engines wear down faster over time, which leads to more vehicles breaking down faster, and more vehicles demand. Which leads to more emissions. But never expect a “green” person to understand basic logic.
I had a high lux pick-up for a few years when I worked in Africa. That was a work horse. Craziest thing I ever did was get it stuck in the sand during a river crossing. Got a few grey hairs from that experience.
No hybrids or electric powered cars/trucks for me.
White or Terra 4 Runner?
The Corral cross is a nice alternative to the small SUV.
I like full size trucks with long beds the small trucks with short bend are not made for hauling or towing.
What’s a good mid size truck that will last in mileage/ highway use Is Silverado good and if it is what year?
My car have P0120 and P0121 problem can you make a video plz how to fix it on 2022 Toyota Camry SE Thank you
That is funny I have been saving up for one for 8 months. I just need to save till October then I’ll get it
I was hoping for a lot more about the Honda Ridgeline.
What a performance
Im a 26 year master tec with ford, what is the best scan tool you would suggest
Great Video Scotty! As usual 👍🏻
Could we please have a reasonably priced Hilux here in America?
I live in the Northwest, Tacoma is the english version of Tahoma, which is the Native American for mount Rainier.(which Mount Tahoma sounds better in my head) so really both the city and the truck are based off the mountain.
No sir Taco is mexicans made in mexico 😅
Thanks for decolonizing the truck name for us.
I’m waiting to see the Stout
"Trucks" At my age, if I put the boat on a mooring, I can rent a "Home Depot" F-150, for a week for $20 a day, get some firewood, and move stuff around. Then give it back to Home Depot until next year.An old beater would be fine, but to put a new one on the road isn't worth it for me anymore. Rather have a little run about.
$20 for the first 90 mins or some such
I got my New 2024 Toyota Cross yesterday and I’m already in love❤
Most capable off road new trucks and RVs now are Munros, built in Scotland! Their specs make the turd-pros and wranglers look like toys.
Any chance of a new Estima line?
Old skool are always the best
0:00 Toyota Tacoma
10:11 Mazda CX-50
20:38 Toyota Corolla Cross
I had a Corolla cross as my rental, felt like the suspension needed help
gen rule, the best cars don't go into rental fleets
40k+ for a midsized truck is mind boggling
Get used to it
I'm going for the gr corolla 😅
I've seen tons of new Toyota trucks on flatbed tow trucks.
I’ve been to mt. Ranier
lol the new Tacoma had a big recall. Scotty will recommend a Toyota no matter what.
2022-23 got a recall as well… 300k have been affected. Luckily mine is a 2021… but I’m keeping it til it hits a million miles
The new 2024 Taco's have all kinds of problems, plus a little fuel tank. No good if you don't want a hybrid. But plenty of other issues. Is give it a few years.
I heard kia and hyundai was coming out with small pickup.
Hyundai has the Santa Cruz but it's a POS....
Will they come with manual transmission option?
@@1976axerhand How so? Have you driven a Santa Cruz?
@@Mister_Garibaldi I bought a 2023 night edition Santa Cruz, got rid of it before it reached 2k miles. By far the biggest pile of crap I ever bought. The dct transmission was horrible slipped all the time, herjy jerky the whole time, the engine randomly would shut off,the electric thermostat stuck open at 1000 miles, engine would never get to operating temp. the infotainment system went out at 1500 miles. When I changed the the oil at 1k miles I could smell gas in the oil already. The heated seats worked great. I'm glad I got rid of it, seems like they still have not fixed the dct yet because the car confections you tube guys bought a 24 sante Fe and it's dct broke after 30 miles.
I purchase a mazda cx50 2024 great suv for the price no CVT
Love the exterior and interior of the new 2024 Tacoma. Absolutely hate the 4 cyl only option.
Toyota limited version is about $60k!
Access cab with TRD trim? Scotty you got some inside news?!
I wish they’d make trucks w/ out the extra cab and back seat. I don’t haul people. It’s sad that trucks are designed to cater to people who don’t really need trucks. Trucks are more expensive because there’s tons of features that people who actually need trucks don’t actually care about. I loved my 88 Ranger and my 91 F150. It would be great to see a simple single cab truck with a standard sized bed that could actually fit a sheet of plywood again.
I thought the tacoma had problems? larger than normal metal fragments in the engine
I’ll stick to my 02 2.4 liter straight 4 better than new one and my v6 trd pro
I've heard from a Toyota guy that the Mazda CX-50 rear differential is undersized(weaker?). Anyone else with that concern?
you see the anime so awesome
Remember when everyone poopooed the ranger for going with a 4cyl turbo?
The Nissan Frontier finally received a new design after like 15 years and it now looks horrendous. They should’ve stuck with the older look.
I'm glad I live in a country that isn't considered too overweight for Hilux
I have a 2017 Tacoma and have to bend down to avoid hitting my head on the upper door frame. I saw a video a few wekks back that showed Toyota made the door opening taller but the 2024 I sat in the other day was the same as the 2017. I'll have to search for a more comfortable truck in the future.
Hilux is required to be equipped with a Browning M2.
Looks like many RUclipsrs are advertising the new Toyotas. Not interested in any Turbo, at least for the next five years until we see their reliability.
Can we please get the manufacturers to get rid of bright headlights that look like high beams! Daytime running lights on MC yes. Car no.
Weren’t you just saying that new Toyota turbo charged vehicles are junk and frontier is much better than Tacoma! Did Toyota buy you? 😅
as a mazda 3 hatch owner (NOT a cx-50) i did consider honda, Toyota as competitor cars for my price point. YES BASE MSRP the cx-50 is more than the rav or cvr BUT dealer mark BOTH those vehicles up so much the cx 50 almost hits the lowest of the pack. its what i ran into looking for a compact car. i looked at a corolla, civic and mazda 3. i gave up the civic for obvious reasons and compared a 67k mile 2020 corolla vs (what i now own) 36k 2021 mazda 3 hatch carbon turbo. the corolla for the bad year 2020 was marked up to 28k at a toyota dealer. i test drove both and the rest is history, now recent times prices change but i would DEFINATLY do ALOT of research of what CAN you get for the best bang for your buck for what you need the vehicle to do
Aye Scotty , I got rid of my 2009 Nissan rogue and upgraded to a 2006 crv with 200000 miles . It runs like new
How many parts did you replace 👀
@@natelove187 none , 200000 miles no check engine light . It’s minty
Honda’s K24 engine is bulletproof, my 2004 has 385 000 km’s and runs perfect.
I am not buying a hybrid or a stupid turbo
Not designed for you anyhow 😮
Why they put plastic intake manifolds which absolutely will not last and the turbo blow off valve solenoid in the most expensive location possible for mechanics is mind blowing.
And those direct injection injectors totally exposed to heat dirt and moisture on the top of the engine…. Thanks Toyota. Mechanics can’t wait to fix leaking or busted injectors.
Only pickup truck with hybrid
Why compare the new Tacoma, to a foreign not sold here Hilux? Scotty neglected to mention his dislike, for turbo 4 cylinders. And that it is made in Mexico.
Didnt you say the 4 cylinder are a no go
I am not buying anything until I see the Stout in person.
Every mention of a Toyota truck reminds me when Top Gear UK tried to destroy one 😅
Just recent news from Toyota Central R&D Labs from Japan:
They discovered injecting a chemical into lithium ion batteries can renew them. Right now they only tested on small batteries and found at least 100 cycles on renewed batteries. Hopefully they'll test on EV batteries soon. Toyota truly is #1
There is no reason a properly designed turbo system can’t last a very longtime. Big diesels run millions of miles all the time.
No Gladiator?
6 speed manual transmission has me listening now
How do I get a hilux in America ?
I thought you just said that the Tacoma 2023 was the last good Tacoma Toyota was gonna make
2024 Toyota Corolla Cross continuous variable transmission. What ???
Lol i would wait on the Tacoma there already having huge issues.
So you don't like the new tundra because they dumped the v8 for the v6 with turbos but your ok with the tacoma dumping the v6 for a inline 4 with turbos. Your reasoning was the engine was doing more work and won't last as long. Which is it?
I DON'T WANT A PICKUP WITH A 4 FRUCKING CYCLENDER ENGINE.
You're screaming into the void. They've been here since the 80s
@mascotal you're screaming into the void. They've been here since the 80s and aren't going anywhere lol
@@jesserodriguez1970 You are so right about that. Any, truck with a 4 frucking cylinder isn't going anywhere. LMFAO
Me in my regular cab Tacoma 2012 😭
Just don’t buy it k? K
I’ll stick with my 2018 2.8 duramax colorado
Awesome visuals .Love these types of videos.
I’ll let them practice at the factory and have others do the beta test driving before I consider a new model of anything.
We can say that the car industry wasn’t shocked over this truck
