Drought - Down the plughole at Ladybower Reservoir (How low dare I go!?)

- Somewhere that I have wanted to have a Drone Adventure for a while now, Ladybower Reservoir. “The ‘plughole’ like structures takes surplus water from the reservoir and feeding it into the river Derwent and local streams. It is known as an overflow - which is called a ‘morning glory spillway’ - because it is shaped just like the flower!

Wow. Eerie. Great music and flying skills are excellent. Thought you were going straight down the hole at one point lol. Huge like :)
Rubbish - Down the plughole - false - bloody cheek - you mean above and along side - there was no down.
havingalook2 😐 Sorry. I do look down the plughole. I flew the drone lower than level of the top.
My next drone also has a light that I can turn on, so when I go back it may be better,.
@@UKDroneAdventures i enjoyed your vid dont listen to this idiot
I would think going into the hole would make the drone loose lift and fall in, don't you ?
Shut up you angry bell end
You WALKED all the way down your a legend
Love this video some superb footage, hopefully one day I'll be as good
Thanks for the nice feedback 👍
Beautiful shot. Perhaps get another drone shining a light down the hole? That would be neat to see.
Crazy how low the water is, interesting to see the engineering that’s usually submerged 👍
You should see it now! A raging torrent!
Fired Up Extreme RC that water level is actually pretty full as it is not far below the cill on the plug hole. When it is really low underwater valleys and structures become apparent.
Cool video, don't know if there was when you were there, but there was signs up everywhere saying no drones when I went a few months ago. Severn Trent love being funny about drones. 😕
No signs when I went. You can fly there regardless of signs as long as you take off and land with permission.
fly INTO the hole !!!
I went below the top.
Such a tease
Fancy taking the plug out. No water left. Lol
Why didn't you fly it all the way down and out where it comes out? It has a camera.
I think I’d have lost the drone 😆
Cool place.
Love this place, real shame 2 lovely ancient villages, & historic 1672 mansion, got destroyed for the dam but the 30's engineering is still fascinating, especially the 'Plughole'! Thanks for the video, don't think I could keep a drone there that steady..!
people can be greedy to destroy history but the dam was made for a particular purpose..
I've been on those steps! Never again though, I'm not that daft anymore
Andy Gee ... I wouldn’t dare .... not too bad with the drone though.
@@UKDroneAdventures great video mate. I think I'd prefer using a drone now lol Saying that I'd probably still risk because I'd be scared of crashing the drone.
@@andygee1972 Them steps are very slippery Andy. Not worth risking your life as its a big drop as you know. Can replace drone
I went down it to about brick level and my drone started dangerously drifting towards the wall so i had to start ascending immediately.
Wow. Scary. Glad you got out of it okay.
Great footage Peter.
Wakey RC Thanks
that plug hole looks cool
Official GamingFFC Yes. I want to go again when the water is flowing :-)
I'm not really a drone man, myself...But a part of me wonders how far I might get with a cheap GoPro knock-off and a family sized fishing rod?... 📸🎣🙃
You’d have to climb into the plughole, which would scare me a bit but would work. 👍
@@UKDroneAdventures Theoretically speaking; If the fishing rod was long enough and well balanced (Easy enough to do) you could achieve it from the adjacent viewing platform. Simply dangle the camera from the line and _carefully_ lower it down the hole! 📸🕳😇
(The best option would be a cheap action cam with wi-fi functionality attached to a high visibility float. This would broadcast the footage to your smartphone for as long as radio range holds out whilst also recording to the internal SD card, but adding the float ensures it stays above water and in the event of loss can be recovered downstream with little risk of harm to the environment. 🌍👍)
How deep is the whole exactly? And if there is footisch from "the other side" do you know where i can find it?
Take a look at this video, it has more details of what you’re after.

Do you go "down" in part 2 then..??
That was quite low. The drone was down below the top.... maybe I'll go lower next time I visit.
Sion Evans. Someone else explores this from the bottom. Worth watching. Its on youtube
@@UKDroneAdventures make sure RTH is working properly in case you lose signal by going down in there.
wouldn't flying into the hole make the drone loose lift from the air limits around the hole and the drone would fall in ?
In flood where does the overflow flow too??
Chris Russell It goes out of the reservoir to a river at the bottom of the dam.
that's 100 foot drop straight down into the plughole. You wouldn't be getting that drone back again.
a C K O Tele-Radio Channel
I guess that if I drop over water or from 120m then the drone will be dead anyway, so not much difference really :-)
any idea how deep the plug1hole is!!
Chris Russell I’d guess at about 50m it goes down to a river at the bottom of the dam.
Wow, water level sure is low!
Lorez Yes, no rain for a while... planning to try to go back when the water rises so that I can get some photos of water flowing down the plughole.
why in this well there is no grille after all, it does not bother and if someone falls there it is a chapel
No grill because its normally under water. You'd have to jump a wall to get to it, so quite safe, although I have seen videos of people climbing down here.
@@UKDroneAdventures but take me tell me there is no obstacle for the water when there is a grate on this well and the man will not fall into it anymore if a child is surely a death to fall there
@@oliviru100 They would have to be pretty stupid to go near 😟
👍👍👍
Not very low 😂😂
I tried ... It got a bit too scary.
I live close to there but I didnt even search up ladybower
GTLbart 362 It’s well worth a visit.
@@UKDroneAdventures yeah I've been there before its nice
certain death if you was to fall down it..especially if flooded..
Yes but I figure it would probably be certain death if it fell out of the sky anywhere.
Some people have actually climbed down a few steps, crazy man, suppose to be 80 to 90ft drop.
It's no different than a deadly eighty foot waterslide, its curved at the bottom before it enters the 100ft tube, just watch out for the steel flow divider as you exit the pipe at some mental speed, ;-)
@@spex357 ruclips.net/video/PSnWsGbDoxE/видео.html video of inside it, not me some rad old explorer dude
@@another1commenter770 Young Patrick and his light painting, much to learn on his page including the fact it's curved at the bottom and very slippy, water dropping eighty foot on to a flat floor wouldn't be good.
where does it go ?
It's just an overflow and comes out at the bottom of the Dam.
It looks cool when the water is high and water running through.
100ft drop which leads to a tunnel and dam. There is a another video on YT whiere the bloke explores from the bottom
@@davidm3maniac201 yep his name is Patrick, an urban explorer from Sheffield, his videos are awesome!!!!
This man walked in from the other side. Watch Patrick Dickinson.
ruclips.net/video/PSnWsGbDoxE/видео.html
Its a 100ft drop. You would end up dead or paralysed if you fell down it.
That's why I only sent the Drone over there.
I have seen a RUclips video where people went in from the other end ... through the pipe and looked up.
@@UKDroneAdventures Ive also seen people stood on it which is dangerous and stupid.
but you could fly a drone down it! that'd be awesome!
The Music if you can even call it that, is terrible and actualy very depressing, I had to tourn the volum off totaly.
Sorry. Music isn't my strong point. I thought it sounded atmospheric...
@@UKDroneAdventures I wouldn't worry about the music to much, that's what the volume control is for lol, the video itself is very good and gives the scale of the structure, it's an amazing view and wow what engineering was involved, I was hopeing you could fly deeper into the plug hole to see in more detail but maybe this isn't possible.
Chicken!
I think it was pretty brave.
CHICKEN
Filth and lies
DPM 46 why?
I got deeper in the girlfriend bro
Didn't really go "down" it though did ya? Should probably change that title.
Whimsy Grove It’s a look down the plug hole. The drone went lower than the level of the top of the plug hole.
Strange how some can't grasp the definition of 'down', it's as if trolls are naturally stupid? Jealous of other's creative work; wonder what their RUclips videos are like..
I hate to leave negs on a good vid but that misleading title is dirty work bro.
Sorry but I do go down the plughole. My drone was lower than the level of the top of the plughole.
My next drone has a light, we when I go again I'll try to get a bit deeper and turn the light on.
Please sub.
lame.. drop your drone to the bottom....
Too expensive!
Bit of a boring adventure this, title is deceptive
Sorry you think it's boring. I did take a look down the plughole ... I was actually lower than the top of the plughole too.
Is this one any less boring?
