There's plenty of videos on RUclips showing sheep sending people flying. I got bullied by some sheep once on the Brecon Beacons. Ironically, it was during the famous Fan Dance mountain route - used by the SAS to test the calibre of their potential recruits. Needless to say, I wouldn't have made the grade. I got chased off route 😂
@@jacksonvega7751 oh yes. Scotland you have a right to roam, but the sheep don't agree. One hike I jumped over a fence to take a photo, and the sheep stampeded me. I got quickly out of there. Sheep can be VERY aggressive and Scottish sheep are hard af, not like these wersh Sassenach sheep ;-)
As if u got out of ur tent while it woz still dark to get a sunrise 😮😂🙈 if I’d have heard that noise I would have literally 💩my pants and not got back out of my tent till I got completely light 😂 ur braver than me lol. Great video xx
@@NoviceWildCamper , did kinda sound like a lion hard to say just glad you made it til morning 😬👍,look up on utube ( 10 hours of lion sounds l animal sounds with Peter Beaten) sounds like it.
Yeah I did that as soon as I got home. Found one with a lion that lives with a guy and its almost identical. Reckon it was definitely a big cat of some kind.
I don't know about pumas but there used to be wallabies up on The Roaches. Released from Swythamley Hall during the Great Depression of 1929/30. Last genuine sighting was in the late 1970s though. The severe winter of 1963 killed most of them off.
There's been sightings of big cats across the uk after the exotic pets laws changed in the 70s. People released them into the wild rather than get fined.
@@NoviceWildCamper released wild cats such as puma or panther can certainly kill you I know of someone high up West of Macclesfield who was with their two rottweilers when a large black predatory cat with a long tail bigger than the dogs passed across them in the Rd at dusk and both dogs went berserk...
The guttural sound was definitely a large cat , I grew up around pumas and have heard numerous sounds they make but I also worked at a zoo and have heard the noises lions leopards and tigers make , that was definitely a large cat........the second noise however wasn't a large cat or deer or canine and it sounded much father away than the large cat purring in your ear earlier. There are strange things in this world a person either acknowledges or they don't and I believe the second noise may have been one of those strange things.
@@NoviceWildCamper Aye , I've read a few write ups on sightings in that area as well as a few other locations across Britain. Next time you head out maybe you can have a couple of game cameras to take with you to set up around your camp and see if you can capture anything . Amazon has some fairly cheap game cameras. Tìoraidh.
At 13:10mins theres a tiny shiny orb next to your tent, left upper corner, what is it? ... Just a few seconds later its two... That was eyes, it was behind in the distance, close to your tent... Something was watching you long before you slept... I just got goosebump and felt so ew thinking that you've been watched by something... Wow... Always be careful!!!
It appears again but only as a single dot unlike the first appearance. It's at the same time the battery is apparently low and the screen is flickering. Could well just be a technical issue with the camera.
I'm nkt sure what it was but in all honesty I think humans are the biggest danger when camping in the uk. Saying that, it sounded like a big cat to me. Been a few sightings over the years around there buy no proof.
I will put a hand warmer in my valley and peak bag, should be 30 degrees then. Hope it won't be to hot for the electrics though. 9 degrees not good enough. Still cold enough to drain batteries
Yeah I thought about that but worried it would get too hot as they can burn sometimes. And yes defo still cold for batteries but better than 1 degree it got to for sure 👍
It did sound like her didn't it 🤣 god knows what it was, just glad I had ear plugs to make sure I couldn't hear anything else!! Yes stunning spot and beautiful morning 👍
I hear them all the time. They never sound like that. Have a Google or youtibe search to try and find a sheep or deer noise similar. I tried and found nothing like it.
I've seen a black Panther type cat in Kent. Broad daylight and it went across a field like a missile. I then searched online and there'd been loads of similar sightings in the area. I'd not rule out a big cat for sure
@@NoviceWildCamper fair play for remaining so calm. It would have un-nerved me as I know there's big cats out there having seen one. Had a strange experience staying in Nuns Cross Farm last year... Going back next month so let's see if anything happens then :)
I just told myself there's nothing out there that could harm me bjt it was only when I listened to it back and researched the noises that the nearest i could find was a big cat. A what happened at nuns farm?
I've found that the best and cheapest tent and pole pegs are available at a hardware store. Just buy a handful of "timber spikes," they drive through Oklahoma soil and rock like butter using a 3 or 4 pound sledgehammer and they do not bend. Plus, they make perfect heavy duty stakes that are easy to use. They're about a dollar or so apiece.
Sounds like a leopard. A keeper of a zoo in Portsmouth knows of escaped big cats as well as private collectors who have released or had cats escape. A circus in Scotland also admitted to releasing cats. Super interesting!
There have been a lot of sightings all over the country. A lot have been word of mouth. I think with modern phone cameras being so much better than they were five or ten years ago there will be more and more verifiable evidence emerging.
Check this from Monday www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/lifestyle/outdoors/watch-as-teenage-campers-film-big-cat-during-trip-to-popular-peak-district-beauty-spot-3862852
I'm going with grouse mate, when I was up kinder scout, I heard a noise similar that I had never heard before then saw the grouse take off. Didn't deal with it nearly as bravely as yourself.... lol.
Yeah I've heard grouse and done so much research into the different noises they make but just didn't get near that sound. So deep and guttural. Like a big cat 🤷🏼♂️
My best mate recently was out late night metal detecting recently and there was a disturbance nearby in the fields, he shone a light over towards the commotion and saw a dark hunched shape skulking away behind the hedges. He was somewhere around Hyde in Greater Manchester, not far from the Peak District. Where abouts were you camped roughly if I may ask, just for reference.
Worst Nightmare Camping Photo Capture Included At least it didn't jump over your tent. There are well known issues with electronic camera interference with 'entities' and the eye shine to the left reminds me a Steve Isdahl video clip YOU ASKED, Unexplained Trail Camera Clip
I wasn't sure what to make of it. My rational head kept saying 'nothing in the uk can kill me' but the little voice in the back of my head kept saying werewolf 🤣
@@NoviceWildCamper because Dogman look like werewolves. They are all over the world including the UK. Check out Dogman Encounters Radio with Vic Cundiff. Been following him years after my encounters in the UK.
I have a Lanny 2 Pro, modded. Is it worth buying a Lanny 1 Pro for the weight/pitch size benefits? I think the Lanny 1 is an awesome budget 1 man 3.5 season mountain tent.
I've not used the pro aas it's so tight for me I'll be touching the ends which is not good on a single skin tent so personal prefe3cne would be a 2 at least.
@@NoviceWildCamper I am 6 foot+ and have the same problem as you with tents. The Lanny Pro-2 is 230cm long, and even with a 4" air mat and 4 season bag, my feet/head do NOT touch the ends, if I an careful how I position myself. Which version of the Lanny 1 are you using? Have they produced an XL version in my absence?
@NoviceWildCamper yeah that's why I went for the single skin for that bit extra leg room. Your tent keeps you dry, and your mat and bag keep you warm. As long as you're careful and not drank 6 high strength lagers and a hip flask as most YT seems to be doing lately, you'll be fine. I think the camping and drinking detracts from the experience with nature. Why numb your senses and also more importantly put yourself in danger due to less cognitive function. Rant over. 😌
I’m not a usual subscriber but the I had to point out, I said “what was that noise” when he lifted his leg and farted as well 😂🤣😂🤣 just wasn’t expecting that
That sounded like a big cat! I saw a Lynx in Hertfordshire last year October. Many reports of Lynx, Puma & Black Leopard sightings all over the country, they are definitely out there. P.S that fart nearly blew my ear drum with headphones in 🤯
😂 it was a joke fart, testing the mic. Yeah a lot of people have said big cat and that's the only thing I can find that sounds anything like it. Just glad I didn't stick my head out 😂👍
There was reports of many exotic animals that wee released into the wild many years ago when the laws changed about keeping them as pets. Apparently a lot were panthers and other big cats. There's been sightings but no real proof so could be. 🤷🏼♂️😬
Did you get an idea who or “what” 😅 was walking across the top left of the video at 22:47 ??? That looked pretty freaky, especially if you’re supposed to be out there alone. Could be another person, could be something else.
Rachel Cooley & I heard the same thing in the Lake District earlier in the year. It was like something was circling us. I wonder what it is? Fab video as always Michael. Xx
@@NoviceWildCamper It was a bit scary. It was like it was circling our tents - I didn't want to get out to see what it was. PS - You are a very talented photographer. Love the photos.

Hey! Stunning timelapses and I love your music choice!! Looked like a beautiful place to pitch. Could that noise have been something snoring?! Fab vid as always Michael! 😃😘
That thought is what kept me from screaming but it was just so deep I could feel it. And the quoter noises after were very odd. Thanks for commenting though, I'll do some sound searches and see if I can match them up 👍

Hi. Regularly walk through the Woburn estate. Loads of deer. This sounds like a large stag. Heard them make this noise before. Although without footage who knows?
Someone just posted a video this weeek of a big cat www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/lifestyle/outdoors/watch-as-teenage-campers-film-big-cat-during-trip-to-popular-peak-district-beauty-spot-3862852
Alright mate , stunning conditions and colours in the sky on the walk up , and really nice sunrise, I've heard grouse make some strange sounds in the Peak District similar to that but that sounded deeper, almost like a big cat , it can be annoying when the cold zaps your electric equipment and runs down your battery, looked a cracking camp mate , atb 👍 🏕
Cheers Gaz. That is exactly what I thought. Loads of people saying grouse but it was too deep. Very much like a large cat growl (or werewolf) 🤣 cheers for watching buddy 👍
Being a Derbyshire lad and having wild camped in the Peak District for several decades that definitely sounds like the familiar guttural growls of red deer to me. They rut in late autumn, particularly October but stags will practise their growling & barking and managing hinds in September. Definitely not a big cat as far as I’m concerned.
Yeah I didn't know what it was tbh. 90% of the comments reckoned it was a large cat. Some sound guy apparently sampled the sound from my vid and said it didn't have any of the same lines and tones of a dear and was more feline and matched that of a panther or mountain lion. I suppose what we hear isn't always the same buy what do I know 😂🤷🏼♂️
@@NoviceWildCamper I’m the same, mine is just opinion from previous similar experiences out on the hills...it could have been many things but I know people love the excitement of big cats roaming wild looking for lone campers to snack on. What I do know is different deer breeds have very different sounds (like dogs do when, for example, comparing the bark of a Great Dane to that of a Yorkshire Terrier). Red deer and roe deer in particular both have terrifying guttural growls around rutting season - particularly disconcerting when heard camping alone at night. Another cracking video.
I've experienced the same, camping in the Peak district. It circled the bivi for a while. I was shaking with fear. Another wild camper experienced it on Kinder scout. Only it was hoking around under his groundsheet too.
@@NoviceWildCamper I think it sounds like a lion. I saw a very large grey furred animal leaping up over the rocks at Grinagh stones once too. Found little fleece fur ball parcels of regurgitated lambs up there. Whatever it is it leaves the spine & skull of the lambs. Swallows limbs whole without chewing.
@@NoviceWildCamper I haven't been in that area since. It's sound, eating habits & agility are apex predator traits. The Safari park is unsettling enough. I wouldn't want my children to go camping anywhere near Howden.
Also rock ptarmigan are weird as ,very territorial. Also thing to note I've found ,that the noises we listen to trying to match a sound vary so much in different wildlife in real time to a specimen on RUclips or wildlife programs..
Good video and images as always, helps with the chill time and relaxation before the next week of madness starts again.... 😞 Thanks for keeping us sane!
Yeah when i heard it the first thing that sprang to mind was getting out in the pitch black to see how big the werewolf was 🤣 No, earplugs and pretend it didn't happen, that's the way forward 😂
Hey Mike 😁 the new camera and audio equipment looks like it's serving you well 👍 loving my Eastern pegs too 😁👍 looked a bit boggy underfoot 💦 beautiful sunset views from the trig point, and whilst setting up 😍 you do love your noodles eh 🤣🤣🤣 the noise sounded like a mechanical echo to me 🤔 lovely sunrise timelapse too 😍 great video as always pal, Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year, hopefully 2022 will see us get a camp in together, atb Paul 🙏🏕️🏕️🏕️😁
Just compared that first sound to a recording of a black leopard. I live in Derbyshire and occasionally go out to do a bit of astronomy. Having heard that, I don't plan on going out at night any time soon. Incidentally, the second sounds are deep and resonant. Just further away, which makes them seem higher pitched. And finally, two guys filmed what they thought was a big cat in the Peaks last month.

Thanks Manda. Lovely description, marble. I am generally out once a week camping somewhere different and trying to catch the best views I can. Love it. 🙏👍
Deer and stags make some REALLY weird noises, I've heard those even just walking through Richmond Park at night, or when I was camping recently.... And the ram's head issue is why I always carry carabiners, mine haven't broken on my Lanshan 1 or 2 (yet) even though I've had the tents ona cliff headland in fairly strong winds, and always have extra pegs to directly peg down the doors if needed. I might add bungies to mine, especially on the bathtub, those strings are a weird length and a problem.
@@NoviceWildCamperGood to know the Lanshans can take that. I've had them out in 20-30 mph gusts and they held up but it was a bit scarily flappy! Had one start to collapse in the middle of the night but that was my fault, didn't tension it properly and had a surprise squall.
@@NoviceWildCamper Wow….great video! If that is true then BIG news! The UK has no real predators with the exception of the badger correct? i live in the US….we have TONS of predators……..bear…gators puma, mountain lions……including the 2 foot variety. Be careful out there!

Everyone commentating using the fact he stays ‘calm’ and suggesting it means he faked it, has never wild camped in the UK. After many years of doing so in even the most remote spots, this noise would have me in laughter as there’s nothing here that can harm us so it’s just a normal animal being weird.
Great video mate and stunning sunrise and very very strange noise but I would've had to get out with the torch to see what it was. Even though we know there is nothing that will hurt you out there it's still a bit unnerving to hear a weird sound 😁👍
Yeah it was the sound that stopped me going outside though 😂 never heard anything like that before. People keep saying it could be a big cat. Still some around apparently 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks christine. I don't think my cockapoo would have helped to be honest 😂 probably would have kept me awake even more crying in the tent 🤣 Thanks for watching and commenting though 👍
A dog that's crazy. I'd have at least a fire ark on me. People are demonic as hell and go out to remote places to do rituals and even hunt people. There are also supernatural things that can happen in the deep wilderness.
Apparently there's been sightings but have you seen the video that came out this week? www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/lifestyle/outdoors/watch-as-teenage-campers-film-big-cat-during-trip-to-popular-peak-district-beauty-spot-3862852
Mmmm……..maybe some inter dimensional beings checking you out…….the first noise was then speaking to each other…….the second almost sounded like their craft (invisible) lifting off…….and then the noises stopped. 😉 I’ve not had any noises like that camping before but I have had a couple of weird experiences at some summits……seen a metallic ball floating about 100ft off the summit which was gone in about a second…..and also a strange ball of light floating through the edge of a forest……thankfully these were both during daylight, I’d they happened at night I indeed would have instantly died on the spot……man I hope I don’t hear noises like that. Lol. I’m in Northern Ireland by the way, I camp in the mourne mountains, lots of history of death and fighting and also an old smugglers path runs through the range. They are beautiful but do get a bit freaky the odd time. Greta vid. If you ever figure it out, keep us posted. 👍🏼
Cheers buddy. Yeah the mourne sounds spooky. Good fun sometimes to be a but scared. Can relive the boredom 😂 on dartmoor once with my son I dreamt (hoping it was a dream) that in the rain and wind something pressed against the side of the tent. I ran my hand along it to see if I couod feel anything and something grabbed my hand real hard! I screamed like a little girl and woke my son up! Tols him I sneezed and to go back to sleep. Still not sure if it was a dream or real to this day. Didn't sleep a wink all night though just sat there staring at the tent wall! 😬😳😂
Well whatever that was would have had the fright of it's life when I burst from that tent and ran screaming for the car! Great video. I don't know what that was but I wouldn't be camping there again 😂
It could have been a badger, they growl and make strange noises especially when they have young ones with them. Doubt it was a big cat as you wouldn't have heard it, even if it was right outside your front door of the tent. Great channel. Thanks
God knows what it was. I have heard badgers growl but this was so much deeper. There's been big cats let lose in this area many years ago and if it could smell me I'm sire it would have made some defensive noises but I have no proof, just what I heard. Odd and scary either way 😂😬
I've been a trapper all my life and probably heard every animal in northern Canada including a cougar aka mountain lion, and it's very possible that is what came to visit you. I could be wrong though..
The uk has had many sightings of large cats, panther etc. Thus stems from when they were kept as exotic pets then it became illegal and people released them into the wild. Have a Google on big cats uk amd you'll find pics and videos of sightings.

Stud male sheep are actually kinda formidable, i was surprised by how big they are havin only seen ewes n lambs my entire life
There's plenty of videos on RUclips showing sheep sending people flying. I got bullied by some sheep once on the Brecon Beacons. Ironically, it was during the famous Fan Dance mountain route - used by the SAS to test the calibre of their potential recruits. Needless to say, I wouldn't have made the grade. I got chased off route 😂
😂
@@jacksonvega7751 oh yes. Scotland you have a right to roam, but the sheep don't agree. One hike I jumped over a fence to take a photo, and the sheep stampeded me. I got quickly out of there. Sheep can be VERY aggressive and Scottish sheep are hard af, not like these wersh Sassenach sheep ;-)

You remain surprisingly calm for the 2 distinct noises heard. I'd been hiding in my sleeping bag, praying with a light on). Be safe out there.

Yeah that would certainly kill me 🤣
@@NoviceWildCamper released wild cats such as puma or panther can certainly kill you I know of someone high up West of Macclesfield who was with their two rottweilers when a large black predatory cat with a long tail bigger than the dogs passed across them in the Rd at dusk and both dogs went berserk...
Yeah a lot of people have had sightings on dog walks.
My thinking is exactly yhe same as yours. There have been sightings round there of big cats but no real proof. Second sound was definitely eerie.
@@NoviceWildCamper Aye , I've read a few write ups on sightings in that area as well as a few other locations across Britain. since his camera was playing silly buggers I'm going to assume it's just some digital artifacts... But that was definitely on the weird side.
Well spotted.
It appears again but only as a single dot unlike the first appearance. It's at the same time the battery is apparently low and the screen is flickering. Could well just be a technical issue with the camera.
I have a Question, why don't you have a Tent that has the floor part Attached to the ⛺??
Just wondering.
You mean a single skin tent?
The more creepy camping videos I watch the more I’m inclined to take big bad dog along next week.

That sound was very much like a black panther which have been seen in the peak District in the past x
I reckon it was a big cat. The only sound I can find that's near it.
You’d be surprised at what noises sheep and deer make
I hear them all the time. They never sound like that. Have a Google or youtibe search to try and find a sheep or deer noise similar. I tried and found nothing like it.
Grouse also make deep guttural noises
@ross fraser if you can find a recording of one making the same noise I'd be grateful.
I've seen a black Panther type cat in Kent. Broad daylight and it went across a field like a missile. I then searched online and there'd been loads of similar sightings in the area. I'd not rule out a big cat for sure
Yeah there's been too many sightings to rule them out for sure. 👍
Thanks. 👍
Any badgers near where you were camping?
No. Plus it was way too deep and gutteral.
Sounds like a leopard. A keeper of a zoo in Portsmouth knows of escaped big cats as well as private collectors who have released or had cats escape. A circus in Scotland also admitted to releasing cats. Super interesting!
Yeah it happened loads decades back when the laws changed. A young boy near where I lived in Sutton was mauled by a puma back in the early 70s.
They are out there, and anyone who says there's no evidence clearly hasn't spent 5 minutes looking into it
Yep, shame some people just try and troll you for posting something of interest.
There have been a lot of sightings all over the country. A lot have been word of mouth. I think with modern phone cameras being so much better than they were five or ten years ago there will be more and more verifiable evidence emerging.

@TimmyBobinson mine has always been the xl or plus as they call it. Same dimensions as the pro at 230cm internal but I'm 6'4 so it's very tight.
Rant over. 😌

Yes
Well whatever that was would have had the fright of it's life when I burst from that tent and ran screaming for the car! Great video. I don't know what that was but I wouldn't be camping there again 😂
@SammyAnnandale-do6of the way I saw it is it would provably outrun me hence I stayed put 😂
Odd and scary either way 😂😬
You don't get badgers high up on the barren moors and when a big cat growls and makes a noise outside your tent you hear it...
Another fantastic video from you as always 👍
Thanks Steve 👍
I've been a trapper all my life and probably heard every animal in northern Canada including a cougar aka mountain lion, and it's very possible that is what came to visit you. I could be wrong though..
Definitely sounds like a big cat of some sort to me. There has been sightings in the uk over the years but no real proof. 🤷🏼♂️
This ain't Canda though? Or does the UK actually have Cougars now?
The uk has had many sightings of large cats, panther etc. Thus stems from when they were kept as exotic pets then it became illegal and people released them into the wild. Have a Google on big cats uk amd you'll find pics and videos of sightings.
@@SStupendous Only human, female cougars in the 30-50 year age bracket 😉
🤣 that I wouldn't mind
I heard a very similar sound to this today in the lake District did you ever find out what animal it is?
Sounds like a stag to me, I used to photograph them a lot at night, and especially in mating season they make gutteral sounds just like that first noise
great night out always a bit disconcerting when you hear noises outside you survived that's the main thing that little pouch looked good will have a look atb daz
Cheers daz. Yeah never heard anything like that before. Really odd 😬
