A Walk Inside the Reservoir Plughole as it Overflows
Ever wondered what it looks like inside a Reservoir Overspill Plughole? many times I have seen images and video footage inside one of these when dry or during drought. But how about when actually overflowing into the Plughole?
Join me as I venture into the short culvert of Redmire Reservoirs in South Yorkshire. Once inside we venture up inside the base of the Plughole overspill whilst still overflowing!

Excellent record of water infrastructure. I didn't realise that was how it worked. Very intrepid exploration in this one. Not too scary but thanks for taking that cold shower just to provide us with a view from the perspective from the "plughole" overflow. Thanks Ant.

This is rare! I've never seen anyone traverse one of these structures when it was in operation! True the flow is moderate, but it's still a fascinating insight!!!

Going through that tunnel reminded me of doing cross country at school and having to run bent over through a tunnel that takes the river Doe Lea under the M1 at Stainsby except we had to do it in winter. Yes my PE teacher was a sadist

If I remember right, Severn Trent relined parts in concrete as they was falling to pieces in certain places, like you mention @4 minutes.
The lengths that some people will go to just to have a shower lol

Truly magnificent, thanks for taking us there. Its hypnotic the water cascading, along with the music, please be careful walking along these slippery surfaces. Thankfully you weren't alone (I think🤔).

Incredible of you to go right into the plughole Ant. I bet no one has ever thought of braving it through that falling water and then filming up through the shaft into blue sky. Well worth getting wet eh? A great achievement, and so many thanks for showing this great video.

YP67 ZYW iI think. You can see in the earlier footage the number plate was in the bowl. So presumably only recently thrown in.
It was weird both plates were in there front and back
@@TrekkingExploration if I read the number right, it shows as a grey golf on the gov mot website. If the car has changed to a private plate, the old number doesn't show on the hov site. So why the plates are there is a mystery.. how long will plastic last? Maybe someone can work it out in 1000 years time.

But, seriously, the engineering around our water systems is fascinating, whether it's a reservoir, culvert or sewer, so many curious places hidden away underground. Good stuff, Ant! 👍

You're very brave! I've often wondered what it was like in a plughole but not nearly as scary as I thought it would be. I wonder who had lost their car registration plate and how did it get there in the first place?

@@TrekkingExploration yes 🕵🏻♀️😂 taxed an mot’d till October 23 I always do when I see a British plate on RUclips. Only to see what make and model not to track down addresses I’m not at that level yet 🤪 it seemed strange to see what looked like a pair of discarded plates in a odd location.
