Bought a second Genius1 for my SUV (Optima Red)... and wow, it is making a difference in the $$$ gas savings department.
2 days with out using the SUV and starting it always made a whinnying noise, the alternator... that means it is under heavy load charging the battery. That means an extra load on the engine while the charging is complete, after driving for an hour or two... almost never.
A good overnight load for its first connection and the Battery is now fully charged and the alternator noise is gone.
Gas is more expensive than the 1-2 watts of this unit (blinking green)...
maybe it's too little savings, mpg, but I guess it's more than a little
Even so these devices are a great idea

Great chargers, but a word of advice for those with Lithium batteries on their BMWs (M4, M3, etc), the Noco chargers will overcharge them and the batteries will shut off.

What happens? Doesn't charge... That's all, I think
AGM's require a different voltage than regular batteries, thus why low charge AGM's won't charge on smart chargers with out the setting.

Why wouldnt they create a system that uses the cars battery to charge up the noco-type system that can then trickle charge the battery as needed? Especially if the vehicle is basic and doesnt have a million auxiliary functions draining the battery.

From a completely dead car battery to full charged, the 5amp will do it in 12hours where as 10amp will fully charge a battery in 6 hours. But let's be honest, how often are you going to have to start at a fully dead battery? Most of the time you're just maintaining a charge which doesn't take much power.
