- I know you guys like old BMW's and ASMR auto detailing videos. I really am here to give you both, without music, the real way haha. In todays video we do a deep clean of the engine bay on the 2002 BMW E46 Touring! It wasn't absolutely filty, but it also wasn't a surface you would want to eat brunch off of. So it got pre soaked, rinsed, agitated with an all purpose cleaner, rinsed again, and finally dressed with a subtle finish UV protectant. Now a clean looking engine that allows us to move onto other areas of the car. Stay tuned. Much love!

Just a quick question: doesn't pressure washer will hurt those plastic wires or even the alternator and sensors? do you need anything to cover up those first?

Nice job once again. I did my engine bay last summer and it was much satisfy. Thinking about polishing my car this spring. Never tried it but I've watched countless hours of polishing on youtube so im pretty much a professional at this point..
Thanks buddy! Haha honestly though! Polishing a car is such a simple thing. Detailers take themselves so seriously. I promise you your first time polishing a car you will love it and the result you're able to achieve
@@ChromaticGarage thanks man. Do you recommend doing a two stage polish with foam pads and a compound and a finishing product? If I've understood correctly, microfiber pads are more abrasive. Some people say you can get good results with a single stage foam pad job. My car doesnt have very deep scratches, mostly love marks from previous owners not being detailing geeks! Also I'm not going for a show car finish

Thanks Andres! 100% cover the alternator and battery. If you're aware of seals that are leaking cover those. Its pretty evident what is leaking before you start. Other than that you cannnn cover electrical connections

One question, i have the e46 330ci aswell, and ive wanted to do this for a long long time but been told not to due to electrical plugs and components etc.... but you have just done it so is there a danger in causing faults or is it safe to do mine the way you have done that bmw ??

Sick video! What do you cover up when doing an engine bay detail? Especially on older German cars
Thanks Zaneen! Alternator is typically your biggest concern. Most German cars will have the battery in the trunk, atleast over here. But if it is exposed it’s good to cover the terminals
This is awesome, I should really do it to my E46 325i. However, I have found the waterproofing is absolutely gone on mine, I've water logged the transmission connections twice. Did you have any issues with it after the cleaning?
Ah man! Sorry to hear that. No issues! I always try ti recommend people start their cars and let it run immediately after. A great way of minimizing issues
I love the detailing, but do a video on how you keep your outfits staying so clean when detailing 😂

@@ChromaticGarage yeah I just have a pressurised can of it and its pretty good. I used it a lot on a motorbike and it lasts pretty well in the bad weather. Safe to spray into electrical connections so I used it detailing my engine bay on my car and its lasting pretty well. Havent seen any car detailers use it on youtube though. Can says its for airplanes but not sure if that's just marketing

Is it safe to use a pressure washer on the engine bay?
Might be a dumb question but isn't supposed to be bad washing it like that? Like i know obviously u have to be careful of not letting water get in the intake etc, but like all that soap, all that water everywhere isn't supposed to be at least a big risk? Any tips btw? I have to wash mine after she leaked oil from the gasket as any e46 does, and the old owner didn't cleaned all the oil at least in the front part right in front of the radiator fan and all that, i was trying to understand how to do it safely and not ruin my engine

Thank you Jeśus! Nothing completely safe is fun! But to be honest it’s safe. There is always some risk but and engine that is together should not have any issues whatsoever
I would like to do my engine bay. Question Its okay to get the electrical connections that wet? I know moisture gets in the engine bay but not like this.
You know what they say bro. Shoot first ask questions later. But realistically there isn’t a huge worry. Older cars should be proceeded with caution but this one is all good

Right?! This colour is super cool. So I was considering daily driving this but as it turns out I’m going to be filming a few videos on it and then giving it to a friend. Which does mean we will start working on my actual daily driver in the next month. Which is very exciting for me😀

did this and my fan belts started to squeak for months. couldn't figure out what was the problem, replaced belts, checked pulleys, realigned them. ugh.
