Octavia Spencer Breaks Down Her Most Iconic Characters | GQ - Развлечения
so we gonna act like her role as dr.evilini in wizards of waverly place isn't iconic?
I always go back to that role because that's the one where I first recognized her.
RoosterFruit
Ikr
It was so good
Omg yes loved those episodes she was the best in it
Awww man I was really hoping WOWP would be in this☹
I still call her Evilini!! lol awesome!
I was a background actor in one on her movies and she bought the whole cast and crew (including the extras) a pizza party 🍕❤️
What movie?
that made my day to read! i love hearing stories like that about great artists just being genuinely wonderful humans. :')
“INSTANT FAMILY”
That's really sweet of her. 😊🤗
Instant family was one of the best comedic family oriented films I’ve seen in a long time. Loved it
I really like and respect Octavia. She seems like a lovely woman
OMG I thought you said "lonely" instead of 'lovely" PHEW! lol
I truly love her
She’s aunty
Definitely
She likes that Aunty you look up to
She literally had 30+ background roles/cameos before getting her big break in The Help!!! She is truly an inspiration to never give up!!
She's not the only person...
Insane One ok ? but this video is about her so that’s why the original comment only mentioned her
Insane One Thanks captain obvious , everyone knows that! The comment was talking about HER because this video is about HER. Please think before you type. 😘
I remember her role as a social worker on the FOX sitcom Titus (the one based on Christopher Titus' messed-up life with a hard-assed father, a violent, mentally-ill mom, a pot smoking brother, a girlfriend with a worse dysfunctional family than his, and a wussy friend. It was based on Titus' real life, with some changes done for legal and dramatic reasons) for two episodes: one where Titus and company try to celebrate Erin's niece's birthday, only to find out that she lives in a trashy apartment with her stoned mom and her abusive alcoholic stepfather and another where Erin and Titus invite the social worker over to show that they'll be good parents to Amy, but Titus' mentally deranged mom comes over and tries to tell Titus that she needs to forgive him.
I remember her cameo in the wrestling scene in Spider-Man
The 72 people that disliked this video, ate that pie.
Actually, God's pie.
😂🤕🤢
Lol
Best comment here🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣😂
Well I see 27 two-slice commenters here.
i really like her acting and there is something quite comforting about her...
Just don't make her mad or she'll make you a "special" pie lol...
@@RedRoseSeptember22 lol gotta keep that in mind! hahaha
righttt, i feel that too she looks really lovely
Extremely talented and versatile actress. Loved her in The Shape of Water.
Octavia Spencer deserves to be one of the first names out when anyone is listing the best of the best, no matter how familiar they are with movies
MicoDossun Honestly, she seems SO underrated to me... I love her!
I have been rooting for her since the Help, people were talking about Viola Davis more with that film since her nomination was in the lead but Octavia and Emma were the ones that impressed me in the film.
I would say she's a A class actress but not an S tier. Allison Janney, Emily Blunt, Glenn close, Cate Blanchett, viola Davis, Meryl streep, Sigourney Weaver, Helen mirren, Judi Dench would be S tier for me
I loved her in "MA". It was not a perfect movie, but she owned that role. If anyone else would have played that role it would have been terrible.
The meme tho.. that's the only thing that movie left me! Lol
that’s a sign of a really good actor/ actress. she seems like such a wonderful person, i’d love to meet her one day!
I think Ma was one of her best performances, she really breathed life into that character and elevated a mediocre movie
No offense sge didn't look tge villain.
Proof that Chris Evans is awesome and octavia is underrated!!!!!
He is a caring person. I love how they play off each other in the movie "Gifted," too.
She feels very earthly and very heavenly. I can’t explain it but I can feel she has a good heart.
she was iconic in Spider-Man (2002), the reason why Peter got into the wrestling ring 🥺, real fans gone recognize tho.
I remember.
They completely overlooked the fact that she played God in the movie The Shack lol. But I love her so much, she is a great actress!!!
Freddy Romero Great Point 👏👏
God is a woman 👀❤️
Huge fan, she's brilliant, every character she's done is believable, real. She's awesome.
So we’re overlooking the fact that she literally played God in the Shack was nailed the role?!
Yes I'm surprised that she didn't discuss that role. That was a really good movie.
That movie made me ugly cry oh my goodness
@@ladennayoung2939 I think because of how controversial it is 😆
@@hellodolly7301 why is it controversial??
This woman is one of the most incredible actresses to ever walk this world!!!
I don't know how there's people who says she's a bad actress
Victor Zidane Antunes Binda She definitely is, I think she has bad roles that she does her best to play.
maybe because she has a lot of similar roles, but i don't know if it's because some kind of hollywood stereotype (sorry for my english)
Victor Zidane Antunes Binda because they ate the pie 🥧🤣
@Tati K who? I?
Victor Zidane Antunes Binda cause they’re dumb
She was on Divergent series right? She’s the leader of the Amity faction.
She sure was!!!
Yes I was upset they didn't mention it. I first saw her there
Yeah, Johanna.
I love her so much....my mom does too, but she just calls her “God” because of The Shack. I was telling her about Ma and my mom was all, “No, God wouldn’t do that” 😂😂
Oh yes the Shack, was so intrigued by the movie watched 3 times
@@Tebatso6333 I loved that movie.
Lol😂😂😂
I love Octavia. Her roles in The Help, Hidden Figures and Ma are my favorites.
everyone knows her most iconic role was Dr. Evilini in Wizards of Waverly Place
Most people don't view stupid Disney shows as worthwhile.
@@ingriddubbel8468 worth enough for you to know it's Disney though huh?
I’m so glad she’s had a stable career since The Help. She’s such a wonderful spirit and a refreshing presence in Hollywood
This lady is beautiful inside and out. I want her to be my mom.
You mean your "Ma"? ;)
I was thinking girlfriend.
Especially out
crazy i’ve never heard her speak outside of a movie role. she’s able to switch things up so well. she also speaks beautifully ❤️
Reading some of these comments made me realize how many roles she’s had that I never quite noticed. I can’t remember the first time I saw her in something but I must’ve been really young and for some reason I associated her with being mean, so I didn’t like her for years. I couldn’t have been more wrong and I absolutely regret it now because I have so much love and respect for her and her talent. She’s such an amazing actress and seems so genuine and lovely ❤️
She’s truly one of the best actors there is !!! Her ability to make you feel the same feelings the character is experiencing, is just ART!!
Fruitville Station is still one of the hardest movies for me to watch. Hits hard
She's so lovely. This just made me like her even more.
Absolutely adore Ms. Spencer. Everything that she’s in, she shines on her own. Even if she’s just in one simple scene. I wish her all the success! 😊👏🏾👏🏾
She seems like such a genuine person.
Such a wonderful actress...I would love to see Anne Hathway in this series
She was so underrated for so long. love how her career has gone great since the help.
Her small roles in tv shows & movies were always scene stealing..
She's so well spoken and talented! I love watching her in movies, and her respect for each of the characters she has played was fascinating to learn about.
She acted in Ma this year which was passable but Luce people need to watch Luce. Whatever movie she acts in she does a terrific job in her roles. I love her.
Ramona Flowers - Wow, was she absolutely fantastic in that film. I don’t think it would’ve been a great film without her performance.
I know it was *years* ago, but the first time I remember seeing Octavia Spencer was in Spiderman 😁
Me: serial killer critiques serial killers in movies
GQ: Hello, FBI
I'd like to see that though 😅
We’re witnessing a literal legend in our time. She has it ALL. I love her so much :)
“I don’t eat or drink nothing I can’t spell.” -(her role in) The Beauty Shop 🙌🏼
That is not her, that is Sherri Shepard 🤦🏾♀️
meoshe beckworth no it wasn’t. Go look it up, and come back.
meoshe beckworth it was her
yes i did. It was her and it’s on her movie credentials also. Sherri shephard was a STAR in the movie, but octavia had that part when they asked her did she want something to eat and she said that and then one of the girls replied well you must be a spelling bee champ.
My bad, you right.
One of my FAVORITE actors of all time. I feel like she portrays her roles so well
She is such an icon she is such a god actress like I can’t
Wow, this is a great lady. She really relays how difficult it can be to act certain roles, and it's really nice how she put more weight into the role of that Woman who had lost her son.
The help . A brilliant movie. Snowpiercer. Absolutely jaw dropping and kept talking about it for days .
Next ‘Meryl Streep breaks down her most iconic characters’ pls 🥺
that's going to be an awesome 4 hour video
Scroo Loose I hope they can squeeze every iconic role in 4 hours 😆
Yes. We can devote an entire day for that ♥
Yesssss
they can't because of her expensive net worth 😎😎😎
Kinda bummed she didnt talk about her most iconic role in Never Been Kissed
Right 😀😀😀
That not her most iconic role.
Her voice is so much more calm and soothing then I expected it to be cuz she always seems to play these very spitfire characters. She’s amazing ❤️❤️
She is that aunt that everyone wants to have.🥰
She's more the girlfriend I want to have.
I meet her when she won the Oscar when she was traveling though london and she let me hold it....
You made my day and I would like to thank you
This deserves more views, I LOVE HER!
Aww she is sooo beautiful! I love seeing her sit down and talk like this. She is so sweet and eloquent 💛
The 1st time I ever saw her was in Dinner for Schmucks when she channelled that lobster being boiled!! Still one of the funniest things I've ever seen 😂😂
she seems so wonderful! there is something about her I can’t explain
I remember her in Rob Zombies Halloween. Not my favorite movie, but even at such a small role her nurse character was the only kill I felt. Her pain, screams, crying were all too real and I instantly became a fan and have loved her ever since.
krazykittymatt YES! Finally someone else who remembers her role in that film.
I loved Minnie the moment she first appeared on the screen.
she's always so nice and friendly. Love her
I could listen to Octavia talk about her roles for hours. She is such a good actress and every role she takes you know that she puts thought into it and brings her all. We want to see more of her!
She sold Ma for me. At first I thought it was just another teen slasher movie, but when I saw Octavia was in it I knew she would bring tons of depth to an otherwise one-note character.
She’s so gorgeous. I love her and her talent.
I just heard her interview on NPR’s “Fresh Air” - very well-spoken and great actress.
Shame she didn't talk about her one-scene-wonder in Coach Carter.
I remember first seeing her in the show Ugly Betty, she had a small arc but she stuck out so much because of the balance she struck with the character. In a campy show with her in a ridiculous situation she still managed to make you feel like it was a real person and you had empathy for her. Such a great talent.
It's fascinating that someone so known for playing sassy characters has such a calm and cool energy. I love it.
I love her and this movie.
She's right. If you as an actor, can't play the worst or unthinkable roles, and be fluid..you'll have a mediocre career.
One of my very most favorite actresses... she draws me into what ever she does! Love!!! 💖✌💖
I love her so much. De fan girlies about Chris Evans for about 3 minutes straight. 😂
I remember when she wason Wizards of Waverly Place and Dinner For Schmucks
She’s so iconic
She’s one of those actors who can play almost any emotion, and you’ll believe it. When she’s tough or nasty...I would never want to be on her bad side...but when she’s compassionate, you feel she would be the most loyal and biggest defender of you. She dissolves into any role she takes.
She was great in red band Society ugh miss that show
Her death scene in Halloween 2 was brutal. I think she is too good of an actress to be in a horror. She made it too real and I can't watch it. It makes me sick to my stomach. That's how good she is!
Bought my mom The Shape of Water for her birthday and she loved it 💝
This movie really blessed my heart, with my favourite actress Octavia Spencer. When I watch her movies, i just dont want the movie to end. I hope to meet her one day.
She was great in Drunk History.
I love her in Instant family and the Hidden figures, Red band society. I always find movies and I am like oh that looks good. Oh wait she is it this going to be 10 times better.
Octavia seems like such a wonderful person. and she is SUCH a good actress! remember the movie “Ma”? she even made that movie interesting.
Fantastically talented - love her movies and also loved her on the CBS sitcom "Mom."
One of my favorite actors! Wonderful in everything she's been in
She seem so genuine and respected. She's my favorite actress. A classy lady.
The Help is one of my favorite movies, it's so great ^_^ love the character of Minnie lol.
So glad that book was written. Thank goodness for the author..
I have some of the same professors at college that she did and my mom went to highschool with her she’s amazing and my professors are so proud
Octavia Spencer is a trailblazer, for sure! She owns every role, with grace and power! Thank you for uploading this, GQ! ❤️
Absolutely loved her in the help as Minnie it was amazing 🥰
Ms. Spencer is allways a strong but warm woman. Wether she acts or not, she's allways true. Love her.
I first saw her on Hidden Figures and it amazes me on her acting. And I love love her on The Shape of Water
I really enjoy listening to her voice but also what she has to say
woulda loved to hear about some of her TV roles - especially Red Band Society. Nurse Jackson was amazing
she was also amazing in "Mom".
So happy she has finally got her flowers! Such a great actress
I still use that statement "Y'all givin me heart palpitations"😅
Minny Jackson is such an ICON
I absolutely LOVE this woman!
I watched the help over and over againnnn cause I love it very very muchhhhh
Would love to see people like Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, Andrew Garfield or Michael Douglas doing one of these
I could listen to her talk all day.
I like Olivia Spencer. She's one of the good ones. And a great actress. I will see basically anything she is in.
This was my favorite series. To see what she went through to get her brand out there it was just so inspiring. She had so much faith, even when everybody would doubt her, she still had strong faith. Then look where she got. She had a net-worth of $10,000,000
Love this actress. Very underrated. Loved her in Luce this year.
the opening line is everything
I love watching you Octavia Spencer. Thank you for the joy you bring to my heart ⁉️⁉️
Does anybody remember the comdey skit she was in called halfway house. I cant find it anywhere but the show was hilarious😪🤣
I love her signature "mm-hmmm"
