It means so much to me to hear everyone being so sweet to Marc, having listened to him all these years. He really does not know how many people he has helped. Or how much we need him right now.

I was in a bookstore once and picked up Maron's book, "Attempting Normal." I opened it up to a chapter about the feral cats he rescued - not realizing that they were feral - that is one of the funniest things I've ever read. I was laughing so hard I was crying. When someone's humor comes from experience and even pain, it is sometimes even funnier. He seems like a really sweet guy, and I'm sorry he lost the love of his life.

Listen to his WTF Podcast!!! He is one of the OG's of hthe medium and not only is funny, Marc can unarm guests and get them talking more openly about themselves than anyone out there. It is one of his greatest talents. Plus who else gets a President of the USA, Keith Richards, Mel Brooks on a podcast and talking about themselves openly for over an hour uninterupted. It's truly amazing, and yes he never misses his promise of a new episode each Monday & Thursday.

Turns out he's such a terrific actor too. Been a fan for a while. Loved his stand up. A few years ago really fell in love with his work on GLOW. But in To Leslie he got me all teary-eyed.

She was his person. Grief is not a one and done thing like people think. In my experience people are afraid to face loss, your loss brings it one step closer to mortality, their loved ones, their own.

I think it's something people avoid and are in denial about because it's not really something you want to get better at. Dealing with people leaving forever... not a skillset people are eager to work on.

I was watching his newest special, and it reminded me a lot of the cynicism that Carlin brought to his specials later in life. Now, I'm not comparing Maron to Carlin, as there'll never be another Carlin, but it very much did capture this essence of how you can make something so incredibly f'ed up also be hilarious from a different perspective.
